Chavez Eco Beach Camping and Cabañas

Podías escuchar las olas en la noches. El paisaje hermoso al abrir tu puerta y ver el mar. No me tocó ver, pero salían tortugas en la noche a hacer sus nidos.

Die Lage und der Ausblick sind sensationell, direkt am Strand. Allerdings gibt es in Tulum eine Seegras- und Algenplage, sodass weder Strand noch Meer zu benutzen sind. Das Seegras sondert einen schwefeligen Geruch ab, es gibt Moskitos.

Seegras- und Algen am Strand und im Meer von April bis September macht Tulum unbenutzbar. Es herrscht Endzeitstimmung, Tourist:innen bleiben aus. Militär versucht mit Masken den Strand zu reinigen, allerdings ohne Erfolg. Der Klimawandel hat Tulum zerstört.

Un endroit exceptionnel pour profiter de l'ambiance de Tulum Beach. Un rapport qualité -prix imbattable pour un logement atypique les pieds dans l'eau. Accueil très sympathique. Je recommande vivement !

Beautiful setting right on the beach. Senor Chavez has built a jewel of an accommodation and his staff are great as well.

Needs a new shower head. The water just trickles out.

Perfect location right on the beach, it's Camping so expect camping life. There is a Go-Mart 5 mins away, the showers are hot and expect to get sand in everything. A real gem, and probably the very last Camping site on the beach in Tulum. Try a day or two here if you're in Tulum and need a change.

Small, family run business, cabins ,tents. I stayed in the small tent/cabin right 20 m from the beach. Facilities are great , there is kitchen to cook you like. If you like basic accomodation , it's the best place in the whole beach. Thank you

The location right next to the beach is incredible and we liked the „natural style“ of the Chaved Eco Camping between all the fancy hotels

That the kitchen lacks of a fridge and therefore cooking wasn’t a real choice there. Unfortunately at the time we went, the sargassum season just started, which made it hard to swim in the sea

Me aloje 3 noches en tienda de campaña. Están en excelente estado y con colchón súper cómodo. Aunque llovió y habia sargazo pude disfrutar del mar y su sonido toda la noche. La cocina está muy bien equipada.

The location was amazing. For most of the beaches in Tulum, you have to pay for a beach club or a hotel, here you can access the beach directly outside from your tent.

It would be nice if they provided a nice bedding including blanket. There was no blanket.

Le coté sauvage et sympathique du camping dans le sable. Très sociable. En face de la plage. Cuisine bien agencée, Toilettes et douches propres.

La musique des hotels des 2 cotés est tres forte! Du matin à la nuit. L'humidité est un problème. il n'y a pas de laverie dans la région. Le petit bout de plage est envahi par les marchands ambulants et on m' a piqué mes nus-pieds. Je me sens pas en sécurité. Il n'y a pas de box où on puisse enfermer ses affaires sous clé.

Kemp v těsném sousedství pláže, který působí jednoduše a naturálně vedle resortů a vymazlených a (příliš) drahých ubytování. Skvělý poměr cena výkon, pokud se chce člověk vyspat za poslouchání šumícího moře s probuzením se vycházejícím sluncem.

Lage direkt am Meer. Eigener Zugang zum Meer mit reservierten Strandliegen. Liegt am Ende der Partyzone und somit angenehm ruhig. Sehr umkomplizierte und nette Leute.

Amazing hospitality by the family who treat you like their own. They invited guests to join them for nye dinner which was very nice of them. It takes an entire family to work hard to run this beach camping and the only spot left in the super commercial beach resort region of Tulum affordable to general people. My admiration and respect to all of them for keeping it this way. Josi makes amazing food and always offers food - reminding you of an Italian mama who loves to feed you! Esther is on top of all operations activities so even camping gets comfortable. Don’t miss the fashion store that Andréa runs too, some really cool collections.

Nothing to complain but just to pick on one if I HAVE to: Mosquitoes in the bathroom but it’s common for all beach properties. Come prepared with insect repellant. Also nested between clubs the bass sound can get annoying if you are sound sensitive like me.

Amazing location, super friendly staff and owners, great vibe from other like-minded travellers. Tent was as advertised, and place is clean, with lots of hot water in the showers. Freddie was so helpful with information. I arrived on New Years Eve and was invited to a special meal Josefina and Estelle were cooking for their friends, family and guests. Truly special!

It’s challenging to get around Tulum without spending a fortune but that isn’t the fault of the beach resort. There’s a store nearby with grab and go food, as well as booze, and lots of options for eating within walking distance once you’re here.

Everything was amazing, super clean tent, sheets, and bathroom/ showers. Best price and experience right on the beach. I was here for the full moon rising right over the ocean, so amazing to sleep that close to the water and see the moonlight through the palms through my tent. I heard this campground has been here for over 20-30 years, and I can see why. Thank you to Ester the owner and the other lovely guests who made me feel at home.

This place is a gem in nestled between big resorts and beach clubs. The tent I had was amazing with a view to kill. The nights are amazing with all the stars and the wind blowing through. I absolutely loved it. I got the meet the owner Mr Chavez he was very nice and welcomed me warmly. Josuel helped me with anything I needed he was very nice. There are a family of raccoons that come to eat at night by the kitchen which is very cute. I already recommence this place to my friends!!! Thanks so much 😊 Ps: got to see a turtle in the dark which was absolutely incredible!!

This was my third time staying at Camping Chavez since 2019. It’s truly my favorite spot in Tulum. That said, I do love more of a camping vibe. Sleeping in the tent on the beach and listening to the ocean as you sleep is amazing. I usually book a tent for the week and end up staying one night during my stay somewhere a little fancier (for balance), and I still always make sure I start and end here. It’s a great location over all, great people, good wifi, and a helpful staff. Can’t wait to come back. Thanks 🙏💗😊

I’d love a second hammock down by the beach. But truly, no complaints. You’ll hear music from neighboring hotels/beach clubs, but that’s pretty true for most the spots in the area.

Incredible location. Camping on the beach for a very affordable rate in the middle of people paying a ton of money for super built up resort hotels. Opening your tent to see the beach and ocean is pretty special. Nice outdoor kitchen on site. Farid/Freddy very cool and helpful. Nice wifi and working spaces. Felt very safe there.

Half of beach chairs old and in disrepair. Mattress inside of tent wasn't great quality, pretty uncomfortable, but for the price you sacrifice some things. Bathrooms you need to walk to at the front of the property, they are simple and rustic, but again you get what you pay for.

Lovely location and staff. Would only stay here if returned to Tulum

I loved everything about this place. The people were like family. Made amazing friends. Clean kitchen and bathrooms. Nice water pressure for shower. Right on the most beautiful beach! I would recommend to everyone. Hope to come back soon!

In the madness that Tulum beach has become we met normality - lovely and hospitable people and a very well kept camp space. They just made us feel at home and we can't wait to go back!

The fact that these lovely camping is squashed from both sides. Soon there will be no place to visit on that stretch.

We stayed in one of the cabanas which was amazing. With the open space we could hear the waves and the birds sing. We even had a palm tree growing through the floor and roof. A lovely place, with a perfect location, right in the middle of the party area at a decent price. The staff was very nice.

From the moment I arrived, I didn’t feel like just a guest; I felt like part of your amazing and open-minded community. You wake up 5 meters from the water and can see sunrise every day. I stayed in the cabanas, probably one of the nicest place i have ever sleep. The people that work there are absolutely lovely and sometimes that would be amazing food. Small supermarket 2 minutes walking. A little paradise!

This has nothing to do with the camping, to which i cannot find negative sides. But Tulum in general is very exploited from tourism, even locals have to pay to go to their sea, this is unfair!

This was my second stay with them. What a great way to experience the beach in Tulum. The family and staff are very welcoming and friendly. The showers had hot water and were cleaned often. Others mention not having a refrigerator, but if you bring a cooler there are places that sell ice nearby. They have a fully equipped kitchen, but the power system probably could not support a refrigerator. But you can charge your electronics in the common area. It really is a beautiful spot. There are a variety of restaurants for different budgets nearby, and also a convenience store that sells freshly made sandwiches, empanadas and other baked foods.

The camp is just a few steps away from the beach with an affordable price. It is fantastic for animal lovers-- you can find raccoons and anteater at the night. Highly recommended!

Can’t recommend it enough. What a beautiful site located at the best area of zona hoteleira, in my opinion. I loved it! You go to sleep and wake up hearing the sea sound. You can watch the sunrise and admire the colour of the sky during the sunset. It is so pretty! There is a kitchen that you can use to prepare your food and save so much while in Tulum. The facilities actually surprised me a lot, as I was expecting a more raw sort of camping site, but at Chavez you’ll have lovely cabanas, if you prefer them instead of tents, clean toilets and hot shower. I met amazing people during my staying, which felt so special. I booked 7 nights at this place which I regretted very much because I wish I had spent all my 20 days in Tulum there.

It can be a bit noisy, like most of hotels in the area, due to the parties that happen at the beach in this area, but to me it was ok. I managed to sleep. The experience of waking up at the beach was important to me and totally worth it. During the day it is one of the few places with no music playing so you can enjoy a bit of tranquility. And if you feel like joining a beach club party, the camping is located close to the best ones.

I wholeheartedly recommend Chavez Eco Camping. In a town filled with overpriced sh*tholes and fake people, this place is an absolute gem. Epic view, great place to meet cool people while chillin' on the sand, and unique and natural beach vibes. Make no mistake, though, this is camping (unless you get the room upstairs) and it can sometimes be less than comfortable depending on the weather and if you're bothered by raccoons or insects. I don't mind them and I had a stellar experience. It's actually more like glamping in that there are hot showers (you might need to ask the staff to light the pilot) and wonderful coffee that you can brew to enjoy in the morning on the beach. There is a well-equipped shared outdoor kitchen with a sink, an island, and two stoves that work great! If you like camping on the beach, then definitely do it! You can also meet a lot of interesting and nice local people here especially if you speak Spanish. I received five-star service from Porfirio and Josue. This IS Tulum, so you may likely be kept up all night with horrible thumping growly electronic “music”, which is the reality of the location. If you're into that kind of scene, then you'll be pleased. If you're not, I still highly recommend this place despite the minor details, and I am noise-sensitive. The view made it worth it. I booked a couple of nights during low season and ended up staying longer and then coming back again. I was only bothered by the music on a few of those nights/days, and it will probably be much louder (and more crowded) during high season (December). Tulum is more expensive than most other parts of Mexico, and if you're looking for cheap authentic street food it's not that easy to find around Chavez, but there are definitely a lot of food options, just pricey or convenience store food. You could also take a colectivo to El Centro to stock up on food (no fridge though. It is camping). If you're traveling on a budget and/or you love peace and quiet, you might want to skip Tulum altogether, but if you do go, I definitely recommend staying at Chavez for a beautiful beach experience.

I think I have my favorite spot! The view is amazing! The property has everything that is needed. Near the property you can find 24h shop and a loooot of cozy local restaurants. Amazing!

totally out of the control of the property but all of the surrounding resorts play music all day long and it is super distracting. Wish they didn't do this and take away form the amazing serenity.

I love camping chavez. Always my favorite place to stay in tulum as it's quiet and the people are so nice, you meet new people, you always have a great time there. Is a basic camping but there is hot water , free delicious coffee, animals to cuddle with, amazing view of the beach, great location, friendly staff and just a great place to relax and feel really like you don't need anything else there just being barefoot and enjoy life.

It's a camping place I like everything as I know what I'm getting, it's very clear from the place description. So nothing to complain about.

It's a nice and calm place, perfect to stay there if you'd like to enjoy the beautiful beach. Would go there any time again.

Only thing you have to keep in mind is that you're surrounded by hotels/restaurants that sometimes are playing very loud music during the night. But mostly only on the weekend.
