The location, the cottage was amazing , coffee plunger , beds , kitchen, the easement of driving in and opening up. Information email prior to arrival was really informative

The toilet had a funny smell , we as adults didn't mind the art on the walls but we had a 7 and 4 year asking questions . It was abit overwhelming the amount of abstract art with human parts

Position was amazing, great views, quiet location, very private. Cosy, very comfortable and very easy to feel at home. Everything you needed for a short stay. Comfy beds and sofa.

I love individual styled accommodation and camp and glamp so don’t mind things a bit rough and ready but felt for the money charged per night, the bathroom was lacking, needs to be finished to the standard of the rest of the property. Art was interesting but not to everyone’s taste and could make for some interesting conversations!

Teresa and Pierre were wonderful hosts and were very easy to communicate with. The location of the Shearer's Cottage is perfect, nice and quiet with incredible views looking out to the sea. The beds were very comfortable with lovely crisp cotton sheets and the house had everything we needed for our stay. The decking was so lovely to relax in a nice cool spot to read and look out to the incredible views. The location made it very easy to explore Matauri Bay or the many other spectacular Bays surrounding. Our dogs loved it their too, and it was great that we could leave them at the house and go for a walk without any concerns for them. We would definitely come back, thanks for having us!

Everything was amazing 🩷 Such a great space, it's so relaxing, we were surprised at how warm it was too considering it's winter. Super comfy beds. We will definitely return to stay here again soon.

Brilliant location. Lovely view, peaceful and quiet. 2mins drive to matauri bay and about 7mins drive to mahinepua walking track. Cottage is really well equipped. Plenty of glasses, crockery and cutlery. Beds are comfy. Decent hot shower. They have a “rainy day” drawer which we didn’t need but I thought it was a lovely touch. This is perfect location for kayakers to head out to the Cavellis…we had a great couple days and will be back!

Gas for the BBQ or make it clear people need to bring their own.

Only 1 thing the toilet door handle needs fixing

Despite the weather, the lovely cottage feel was amazing. If you enjoy country and sea view feel, this property certainly has it. Very warm.

Welcoming and clean

Good quiet location, very comfortable. A lot of tea and coffee, although would have liked a small bottle of milk on arrival for a cup of tea

Everything. It had all the things I needed for a weekend get away and could suit two couples or a small group of friends. The small touches of teac, coffee, cooking oil and spices being available for use was super helpful, along with having handy small appliances and cleaning equipment and products to keep the please tidy and clean was super helpful. A superb location with friendly guardians (dogs), with a gorgeous view out to Motukawanui and Motukawaiti off the deck - i will be returning!

The cottage is conveniently located with a shop nearby and great views of Motukawanui. Comfy beds, fast wifi, very homely feeling.

The hosts provided us with all the information we needed to find the cottage and gain access well in advance of arrival. The views from the cottage were amazing and the location was very peaceful. Cottage had everything we needed for our stay with a comfy bed, towels, toiletries and even a outside hammock to relax in plus we really enjoyed all the artwork around the cottage. The cottage is also close to some beautiful walks like the Mahinepua Peninsula track.

The cottage is quite secluded, we arrived a bit later in the afternoon and missed the shop being open to buy anything to eat. The next closest place is 20-30min drive away so just to keep that in mind when staying.

It was so quiet but so close to facilities. Beautiful farm land with views of the sea.

herb garden/veg view. large bed,hammock,bbq which was a god send as power went of. books lots of salt/pepper and handy things washer /dryer good.Board games good. very quaint cottage paddocks etc. board games nice.

The toilet door wouldnt open from inside,got stuck in for a few minutes as the door handle upside down.. Friend opened from other side. Would have liked a Tv as was wet weather on days we stayed. The roof iron 2panels were rusted and leaked on outside cushions/table. Demolition sells cheap easy fix. We had trouble shutting the white wood french door which leads out to patio area,had to get friend to push from outside to close.

Unique place, very lovely house!

It’s a quaint house with everything needed. Greeted with a friendly fur friend that likes pats. Curious work of arts throughout the house.

Harmless flying insects managed to come in during the night. Harmless, but I’m dead scared of insects sooo..

That it was pet friendly and that it was private with easy access to amenities

I could have gone with having a TV there especially for my 8 year old grandson. However, the stay is more about getting in touch with nature and the environment. Still a TV would be a good option for the evenings.

Everything. The cottage was lovely and nicely furnished. The shower was hot, and everything was very clean and inviting. We were allowed to walk our dog on a paddock which was superb.

Such a cosy place, great location for a very relaxing getaway, especially out on the verandah. Clean and tidy. And close to the stunning beaches!

Maybe some milk in the fridge would be great to go with the tea and coffee!

Location to our meeting wad excellent, bathroom provisions kitchen condiments tea coffee were good.

Cleaning needed a bit of attention. Walls are thin unfortunately but that may be due to the age of the home.

backyard, deck, privacy, sea view, BBQ, full kitchen, comfort… this cottage has absolutely everything we need. Bonus this place is pet friendly, covered by wooden floor. Our little fur baby is afraid of hot and he is extremely happy here. the place is nice and tidy, definitely worth us coming back again!

The views, the scenery & the homely feel

The cottage was whimsical, artistic and comfortable.

Fabulous hosts, perfect location. Great for the dogs, and horses. The cottage was spotless, a real home away from home. My son loved looking for the chicken eggs every day. Views are incredible. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you so much for a truly memorable family holiday.

Nothing it was all perfect

Loved the rustic feel to the cottage, it was clean, welcoming and had everything we needed. Loved the balcony with water view, it was incredibly relaxing. We will be back.

Nothing. If I have to nit pick, we could of had some milk in the fridge but that was probably something we should have organized ourselves.

Near shops and beaches

Great little bach 50’s style. Basic but stylish and cozy. Nice view of Cavalli islands from kitchen. Great selection books. Good base for discovering local beaches. Nice fish and chips at the Blue bar down the road
