We had a wonderful stay! The views were breathtaking, and the rooms were of top-notch quality, featuring tasteful and elegant decor. Having a private balcony was a fantastic bonus. The food was exceptional, and the kitchen staff went above and beyond to customise dishes to our exact preferences. A special mention goes to Bipin and Vijay, who were simply superb—they made us feel completely at home and extremely pampered throughout our stay. Highly recommended!

Faraway Cottages Auli stands out as one of the most scenic hotels I have ever experienced. Views: The hotel offers a panoramic 360-degree vista of the surrounding mountain ranges. On clear days, the views from the property are truly mesmerizing. The accompanying images were captured directly from the hotel premises. Service: The staff at Faraway Cottages Auli provided impeccable service, leaving no room for complaint. Their responses were consistently prompt and efficient. Furthermore, they offered valuable insights into various local attractions in Auli, assisted with my itinerary planning, and arranged a taxi for my ascent to Upper Auli. Food: We consumed all our meals, including the complimentary breakfast, at the hotel. The food quality was excellent, distinguished by its delicious taste and generous portion sizes. Parking: On-site parking is available and provided free of charge. Please refer to the images depicting the parking area. What I really loved was the service, the views, and how peaceful and quiet it was —a perfect escape from the city's craziness. Important Considerations: (a) The hotel is situated at an elevation of approximately 7,700 feet above sea level. Given the absence of elevators, certain rooms are accessible only via stairs. Guests may experience fatigue at this altitude when navigating stairs or moving around the property. It is advisable to assess your fitness level and that of your companions, and to coordinate with the hotel staff regarding room assignments accordingly. (b)Upon reaching Joshimath and turning onto Auli Road, the roadways become narrower. Google Maps may exhibit some inaccuracies in this area. Nevertheless, the hotel staff are exceptionally helpful and responsive, providing clear guidance. Drivers with experience should navigate these roads without difficulty; I personally drove a Hyundai Creta and encountered no issues. For those less confident in their driving abilities, hiring a taxi is recommended.

The property is very peaceful, beautifully designed. The rooms are awesome.. very spacious and well heated in peak of winters. Electric Heated blankets are provided for extra warmth. The stay was super comfortable. Great hospitality, the staff is really helpful and polite. Great food as well. Overall a fabulous experience. We didnt feel like stepping put of the property at all… had a great relaxing vacation in the middle of mountains!

I had visited with family (02 adults plus kids) and stayed for 10 nights, staying between mountains was masmerising. Food was amazing and staff was very cooperative. Highly recommend for stay and have a rejuvenating experience. Would revisit for skiing.

Great experience end to end. Even before we reached, we got a call with key travel information and directions. Unlike most mountain hotels, rooms here have tall ceilings and tall French windows, are very spacious, and are very tastefully done. Large balconies provide a great view of the mountains and apple orchards. All I could hear in the morning was birdsong and sound of the stream in the distance. Spotted several birds and a wild mountain goat just from my balcony! Every member of the staff is eager to go over and above to provide a great experience. Bipin leads a great team - Vijay (Service), Balwant (housekeeping), and chef Sandeep. The owner is closely involved in personalising the food experience. We had several dishes from the local cuisine expertly made by chef Sandeep. Bichhu ghaas ka saag, chaisu, jakhiya aloo...and many more. The restaurant is pretty and provides great views of the mountains. The cottages are near a beautiful little village which makes for a good early morning or evening stroll. Locals are very welcoming and willing to engage in a conversation. Would love to come back again some time !

The matresses could have been little better, as we prefer hard bed (Cotton beddings) for longer stays. Those foam matresses are not our preference.

The view from my cottage was amazing, the mountains range in front is untouched. This was the best ever view I have ever experienced from the luxurious, tastefully done cottages. The peaceful afternoons, the music of the birds and trail to the nearby waterfall is something that will stay with me. We enjoyed the Garhwali thali, loved the fact that some vegetables were cut from the garden after our order. The food spread was great which above our expectations. We stayed for 6 Nights. We checked in the night around 8:00 pm. Day 1- Trek to Gurson Bugiyal in the day and evening at the resort with Amazing Gharwali Thali. Day 2- Trail to the nearby Village, visited the small the water body near the village temple. Lazy evening gazing the stars. Day 3- Badrinath and Trek to Vasudhara Falls, this is an easy trek with a great view. Day 4- Relaxed in the resort, listening to the music of the birds around with a bon fire in the evening. Day 5- Again Bored ourself in our lovely cottage at the resort. I would love to visit again in the winters hoping to catch the snow and try my hands on skating.

Time to travel, but i guess that the reason for the beautiful views.

Tucked away in one of the most beautiful locations in the north of India (Uttarakhand), this is one of those hidden gems which will keep you coming back for more. Here are some of the points that make Faraway cottages a must visit : 1) The View: If you are a person that appreciates true natural beauty like myself, you will get to feast your eyes on majestic unobstructed 360 degree views of the himalayas all around you. And no amount of this will ever be enough. It leaves a last impression on you and the sense of amazement stays with you every time you look around. There are also sprawling views of fields and farms below. 2) The Food: We went in with no expectation about the food at a cottage, as we tend to mostly explore the restaurants in the area to experience local culture. Not here. The unassuming cozy restaurant offers some seriously good dishes which will have you licking your fingers after every meal. It has to be something to do with the water in the area, but EVERY SINGLE MEAL was DELICIOUS. So much so that I met with the chef and made sure he felt my appreciation. 3) The People: The hospitality of the Pahadi(mountain people) is well known, and is exemplified at this this location. Such kind, welcoming and warm people - this I felt was truly the best part of visiting Uttarakhand in general but in particular this cottage. I wanted to specifically mention Naval Kishore, the manager - always made sure we felt at home and tended to our every need Our server, who treated us like royalty every time we came for a meal. You are truly made to feel special.

All this said, the only drawback of this property is the approach and the roads. The roads in the region are generally sub par as you'd expect from such a location and I would definitely recommend hiring a local cab who is familiar with the terrain. Our driver had little to no problem driving a Swift Dzire through these roads, but it is not the most comfortable ride.

The property was pretty. The room size was big and the view was the best part. The staff is super friendly and were always there if we needed any service like food, tour information etc.

Its a beautiful boutique hotel overlooking high ranges. The hotel balcony has the panoramic view and we were extremely happy that we chose it for our stay.

Its a beautiful property with an astounding views of the Himalayas. The cottages are very nicely done. They are equipped with all amenities one needs for a comfortable stay. Their service is top notch and the food is delicious. Although we stayed just for one day, it was hard for us to say good bye to the stunning views and our cozy cottage.

The road to the hotel is a nightmare, you need a strong car, rooms are located at a lower level and the climb up is a challenge, there is one toilet in the family room which becomes difficult in the morning. The wash basin was leaking and there was no exhaust fan.

We had a amazing stay at Faraway Cottages. When we entered the property, we were pleasantly surprised to see such attention to detail and facilities in a remote location like Auli. The staff is highly attentive, and took care of all our small needs. The views are breathtaking and food is to die for. The rooms are elegantly furnished and comfortable. We were travelling with our toddler and thoroughly enjoyed being there.

I struggle to find something bad to say about the hotel :) Maybe, if there were a couple of small shops near the hotel, it would help for urgent supplies, but nothing pertaining to the stay.

The views from the resort were absolutely breathtaking! Nanda Devi Peak! OMG. Imagine waking up in the morning and being greeted by the majestic snow-capped mountains of the higher Himalayas right outside your window. It's truly a sight to behold! The resort is newly built, so everything feels fresh and brand new. The utilities and facilities are top-notch. I've been to Auli before, and I never expected to find such a luxurious stay option here. The food was amazing, particularly the delightful experience of sipping morning tea on the balcony of our room. The owners themselves were present during our stay and ensured the quality of food and services.

If Auli could be closer to my place of residence !!

1. Difficult to navigate to the property. Google map doesn't help. No prior communication from owner to help things. Inadequate power backup for water,room heater, just 2 to 3 lights power the entire suite. There was seepage in room and bathroom causing paint dust on table and floor . No arrangement to keep excessive pests , insects away . Abrupt water supply. Half of items in menu are not available and limited breakfast options. Untrained staff. Overall very average services and facilities provided for the money charged.

It’s a beautiful property, with amazing interiors and great food. We really enjoyed our stay there, the food was delectable and staff very approachable and sweet. Location of the property is like icing on the cake, with views of snow capped mountain range surrounding it from all sides. All in all a great experience and worth coming back to.
