Very nice host, beautiful location (you can hike around, there are some trails), ~40 min by bus from Alishan, 10-15 minutes by foot from the bus (host offered to give us a lift, we declined), very good breakfast, host brewed us some local black and oolong tea.

Really beautiful spot. Such a gorgeous area and you have perfect access to the trails. The man who runs it is very nice and helpful. Taiwanese breakfast was delicious.

Needs better access for drinking water in the rooms. And hand soap at sink.

Great host who came to pick us up from bus station and brought us back once we were leaving. Beautiful views around, very peaceful and quiet. Without luggage it is easy to walk down to the town where there are good connections to Alishan forest. Nice brealfast and were also offered to taste local tea.

very warm hosts, went out of their way to be helpful despite the language barrier. simple facilities, but spotlessly clean. a nice breakfast delivered every morning. a few things within the room such as fittings could be improved, but overall we were very happy with the accommodation.

the only problem i had was with the payment. the owners of this accommodation expect to be paid in cash upon arrival. they do not accept credit cards and we only got to know of this while we were already enroute from taipei. if this fact were clearly mentioned on the website at the time of booking, we would have been prepared. running around chiayi to exchange currency was not something i enjoyed doing.

The owner was awesome and had us for tea.

Oh my word - what a find. An old rustic tea plantation house in a beautiful setting. The host was a delight - we communicated via google translate over a tea ceremony! No facilities locally - would need a car to get dinner but an absolute delight

Beautiful location. The manager was communicative on Whatsapp and picked us up from the bus station.

Breakfast was quite small. It's a 15 minute walk through rural roads to any restaurants, which was peaceful for us but could be unsettling for some. We did not have AC.

There was a hole at the door frame and cockroaches broke in at night (the small non-flying ones). Maybe it’s inevitable in this kind of environment though.

Excellent location for drinking tea, hiking and catching the sunset. And gave us a break on our way to Alishan.

The owner of the tea estate greeted us by sharing a pot of tea grown on the estate with us. We really enjoyed chatting to him via Google Translate. This accommodation is also perfectly located so that you can walk to the Mist Trail and do a loop along with the Tea, Cloud and Sakura trails, and more.

The place is very well maintained and its next to a tea plantation. Host was not staying at the accomodation but was very responsive via messaging. You cannot see the sunrise but can walk a little further out to a viewing platform near the main rd to see sunset.

The toilet bidet system was a little cranky sometimes, but it works most of the time.

Gute Lage zu Wanderungen im Ort und zum alisha nationalpark. Einfaches sauberes Zimmer , neuwertiges Bad/ Dusche. Nette Terrasse um abends noch dort zu sitzen und etwas zu trinken. Im Ort ein gutes hot pot Restaurant und natürlich ein 7eleven.

Frühstück war sehr einfach mit einem Sandwich und einer sojamilch.

The breakfast is amazing, its delicious and filling. The location is also walking distance to local hiking trails, including stunning tea farms. The facilities are super clean and the wifi was great!

Without a car this property is harder to access. Other reviews mention a 15 minute walk from town, but its a steep 15 minute walk. Though the innkeeper did provide complimentary rides to town.

住宿所在位置基本上很難叫到計程車，交通方式除了住宿方提供以外，就是以公車為主，可惜班次很少、人很多，公車幾乎都是客滿狀態。但住宿方人員很熱情協助我們安排前往奮起湖和阿里山的車，費用也比計程車划算不少。 房間整潔、空間足夠，還有附電熱毯，晚上完全不冷❤️ 戶外空間的植栽非常漂亮，出入口處的廚房有基本加熱工具可使用，非常方便。

lack of security and there is nobody on site. owner will come over to hand over keys upon receiving whatsapp voice note (does not respond to calls). This procedure should be mentioned during booking so guests do not feel lost and wondering why owner is not answering calls

Quel endroit incroyable ! Il y avait un très beau jardin juste devant la chambre. Le petit déjeuner nous était livré devant la porte. Un endroit apaisant où on a envie de rester plusieurs jours !

Le personnel ne parle pas du tout anglais, le petit dej est minimaliste, les photos sur le site sont trompeuses, l’hôtel est surnoté malgré un emplacement au milieu des plantations.

A lovely location with a beautiful garden. It's next to the short trails through the area. The rooms are quite old, but clean and comfortable.

The staff were all super friendly, the gardens absolutely beautiful and there's tea plantations right next door.

Stunning location. Nice room. It’s about a 15 minute uphill walk from the bus station 7/11 so be prepared. It’s worth it though. The owner is so sweet and happily shared many cups of tea with us. I wish I’d booked us here for another day.

Clean and great hosts

The host is very accommodating, they were patient with my language barrier (since I'm 🇦🇺), gave me a ride to the bus station and some tea as well!

I wish I stayed there more than one night.

The courtyard face the garden with view of the mountains was beautiful. We enjoyed sitting outside of our room chatting with our friends during the afternoon rain. We all loved the look and feel of the older Taiwan buildings but clean and updated bathrooms. It’s close to trails which we took and walked up to upper part of tea trail. We also like that is not too far from town where we have dinners. For breakfast you pick what you want the evening before and the food will deliver to outside of the room. There are many choices when I was booking, but I wanted a place with history and character. We were glad we stayed here.

The location was beautiful, just next to the tea plantations. The storm was simple but very clean and neat. They provided pick-up and drop-off from the bust stop.

No air conditioning. If leave the widow partially open, it cools down very quickly. Front porch area is common for all rooms. Neighbor chatting noise from the tables in the front porch area could be annoying at night.

We had a driver so location no issues. This homestay is in a tea plantation, very nice and cosy environment. We only stay 1 night, took some photo at the tea plantation. Breakfast has to pre-order, bring your own coffee, there is kettle in the room to make your own drink.

Lovely staff, comfortable and cosy rooms, even with dehumidifier against the moist up in the mountains. Great service and lovely hosts: They even brought breakfast to the accommodation, offered dinner delivery since we were up there by public transport, and offered a bus shuttle and to the bus station down the village.

Very kind owners, willing to drive to Shizhuo to pick up everyday. Owners also let me stay in a four person room but only charged as if it were a twin room as I was traveling alone.

The position was good, and the garden/view was excellent

Breakfast was cold on the first day and on the second day they gave us vouchers for 7 Eleven even through they delivered breakfast for the other guests. The property lacked amenities that we have had in other stays in Taiwan that were half the cost.

Location is just 50 minutes from Alishan Recreational Area. Room was clean and had everything you need for 1-2 nights.

Our room was very clean and had everything you need for a short stay. However, we were not at all happy with the breakfast. After the host told us that there was no breakfast, although this was specified when booking, we received 7-11 vouchers amounting to 50NTD per night, which was just enough for a coffee, nothing more. Breakfast was therefore non-existent, although it was included in the price. In addition, the accommodation is a little further up the mountain and you have to plan about 20 minutes for the strenuous walk (very exhausting). On the first evening the host drove us down and back up, but after that he was unfortunately not available and we had to walk the strenuous path several times a day. At checkout we weren't asked if we needed to go to the bus stop or anything like that, we were basically left on our own. Luckily we booked a cab online a few days before, otherwise it would have been impossible with our heavy luggage. All in all, a good place to stay with room for improvement in terms of guest service and breakfast.

The location was good. I loved the scenery as soon as you stepped outside into the courtyard. Tea farms and mountains abound!

Beautiful scenery. The old man in charge was most welcoming. He invited us to have his home grown tea and we drank and chatted for hours (the red tea and oolong tasted amazing! He sells his tea too.) He gave us 7/11 credit after we told him we would be leaving before breakfast. He has a very interesting life and was enjoyable to talk to, very worth it. The room was comfy and clean. A bidet toilet, electric blankets, AC, dehumidifier and TV were provided, with plenty of English language channels. The area outside the rooms reminds me of a dojo, had a workout session there in the backdrop of the mountains, like karate kid

Google maps doesn’t give the fastest route to the house from Shizhuo town centre. To go to the town from the house, take the stairs by the nearby viewing platform, then take the next set of staircase on the left.

This is an excellent place to stay in the Alishan area. The hosts are incredibly welcoming and were happy to pick us up from Shizhuo bus stop and also to take us down to the village for dinner. The rooms are a good size with a seating area outside to relax. There is a beautiful garden with a view of the tea plantations and village below. There is a sunset viewing platform one minute's walk from the guest house, from where you can see the 'sea of clouds' below. Also less than five minutes walk above the guest house is the beginning of the Mist Trail, which is part of 5 inter-connected short walks around the area - all of which have stunning views. I've also stayed in Fenqihu and visited Alishan Forest Recreation Area, and although both are beautiful, I would stay in Shizhuo and Chang Qing Ju again every time.

Location next to the road for both directions Alishan and Chiayi. Good friendly host (do not speak English but you can communicate via Translation apps;)) good breakfasts

Gracious and very helpful owner and staff. Beautifully maintained and peaceful property. Our kids loved exploring the property and garden. Unbelievable views and location!

The owner is a very nice host, who helped us out in many ways. Even picket us up from the bus station. We got fresh breakfast every morning. The Hostel is newly built, everything was nice and modern.
