Staff were very helpful & friendly
No lift, had to carry bags up the stairs, shower pressure could have been better
Hjemmekoselig. Fantastisk betjening.
The view
The sticky dining tables
The location and the view from our room. The breakfast.
Free parking, breakfast & rooms that accommodate 3 adults.
No elevator and no service to assist in taking your luggage to your room.
Nice stay - friendly staff and very relaxed atmosphere
Lighting a bit dim in the Silver Sands restaurant.
VUE SUR LA MER
Food was nice.
Hotel is tired but appears to be in middle of upgrade. Bedrooms also tired
The only good thing about this "hotel" is the location
It's an old hotel that needs lots of work done, that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, but the cleaning standards are very low. The family room was small, the mattress was too soft, the lighting was terrible, with only one small window (that hasn't been cleaned in years!). The carpet was disgusting. I felt very disappointed by the whole thing and most say that it's also overpriced, taking advantage of the limited options in the area.
Położenie hotelu. Smaczne bardzo śniadanie i kolacja w restauracji Sympatyczny personel
The top quality of this location is its proximity to the Mallaig Ferry. The structure is very old but the investment for renovation is perceivable, Staff was very helpful,
We knew it before we booked. This hotel as old as it is does not have lift to upper floors. We obtained a room allocated on first floor , and managed to overcome the problem. we find the cost of this hotel a bit too high in general. The room, for three people, was small and without view, contributing to the above impression.
Lovely friendly staff, Tuan, Geeta and Akram were all very hospitable. Great food for both breakfast and evening meals
The towel rail did not work so our towels would not dry.
Lovely place and an amazing dinner. A tad pricey though
Had a really nice team. The staff very professional but also friendly and gave 101%. We definitely will stay here again. We stayed for 2 nights having fantastic breakfast and lovely dinner. The food was very good. Our little dog was very welcome too.
Nothing
Great location, excellent restaurant. New fittings in rooms, all worked very well. Well Managed with very pleasant staff.
Tiny claustrophobic bedroom with a view of roof only. A lot of stairs.
Great food
The room and the hotel where showing it's age, ut everything was clean overall.
Probabilmente nulla.
Hotel was in a good location.
Hotel was overpriced, when booking, breakfast was included but when we actually checked in breakfast was a extra charge . We had a family room, view was a brick wall even though on booking it,it said a view. Bathroom for a family was really tiny especially if you have young children, room was badly designed. On checking out the receptionist was on the phone and totally ignored us which was really rude,we paid £213 for a night stay with no breakfast, which other hotels were cheaper and breakfast included, I wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel.
Location and some of the staff
Waking up at 6.50am to water coming through ceiling! Still waiting for apology. Being told to pay for breakfast before even sitting down. Shower fitting coming apart when trying to move shower head. Booking dinner at 7pm but when asking for menu being told I would have to wait because of coach party.
That it was close to the ferry
No hot water in the morning - not a big fan of cold showers.
Inget
Sehr nettes Personal. Sehr gutes Restaurant im Haus. Frühstück mit viel Auswahl. Badezimmer sauber und gut Ausgestattet.
Hotel etwas älter, daher nicht so gut gedämmt. (Lärm von anderen Zimmern)
The Morar Hotel is in a perfect location for anyone travelling by train, and the surrounding area is beautiful. Our room (No. 8) had lovely sea views towards the Silver Sands, and there are some very pleasant short walks nearby.
nfortunately, the room itself was very tired and in need of refurbishment. The furniture was dated, there was a tear in the carpet, and the mattress was particularly uncomfortable. It was very worn, dipped noticeably in the middle and the springs meant that whenever one of us moved, the whole bed seemed to move with us. As a result, neither of us got much sleep. On a positive note, the bedding was clean. There were a few other details that let the room down. The bedside lights were extremely bright and couldn't be dimmed. The bathroom was adequate, although the radiator was rusty. Opening the bathroom window wasn't really an option either, as the kitchen extractor fans were directly below and cooking smells quickly filled the room. At £185 for one night, with breakfast not included, we felt the room represented poor value for money given its condition and, most importantly, the quality of the bed.
stunning view from the bedroom, staff were extremely friendly and helpful, Food was outstanding both for choice and value for money, wonderful, tasty breakfast offering with something for everyone. Akram and Tuan went out of their way to provide excellent friendly service. nothing was too much trouble and they both helped to make our stay memorable
everything was lovely
Widoki super
Great location for the ferry to isle of skye. Great service and the food was fantastic.
The hotel needs a lot of work
The location, near Morar and Mallaig with the Highlands landspaces and atmosphear
Very very expansive for a little family "suit" (a little bedroom in fact) with a little view on a car park ! The more expansive and the most poor facilities of our Scotland trip. A member of the restaurant staff was not very aimable. Despite of the efforts of a member of the reception staff (very friendly a contrario) this restaurant staff member did'nt accept to find a table and his reaction was very unfriendly.
Zimmer sehr klein
La posizione, lo staff ed il ristorante
Il prezzo, alto rispetto a quanto offerto
Excellent place to sit and have a great time with friends and family.
No lifts so if you have heavy luggage would be difficult.
Location. When there was a receptionist in morning, she was very pleasant and welcoming.
We arrived late in the evening to find no one at reception and had received no instructions about how to check in or room location. To make matters worse, personal information was left on display at the reception desk, which was concerning from a privacy perspective. At breakfast, my husband chose not to eat but simply wanted to sit with me and have a cup of tea. He was told he could not sit in the dining area because he wasn't purchasing breakfast, so he had to sit alone in the foyer. As paying guests, we found this unnecessarily unfriendly and showed a lack of trust, especially as we had no issue paying for his tea.
Family stay with multiple rooms booked. The sea view rooms were lovely.
The single twin room was quite small as if being tucked into a closet.
Staff very friendly. Stunning views of Morar bay
Property very isolated; infrequent buses/trains to Mallaig. Taxis expensive. The hotel is cashless- not told before hand .
Location is amazing and the staff were absolutely amazing.
Our room was not very clean, towels were ‘grey’ white and the shower gel dispenser was empty. Shampoo was about half full. Shower stall was clean inside but really dirty on the edging and same for hand basin. Walls peeling and flaky paint and just tired looking considering it was a ‘superior’ room in the attic.
I didn't enjoy my stay at all, particularly based on the price I paid through booking.com
Everything about the room, however the food was good.
Nothing
Everything
The location is amazing.
All was good
view
The fact that on the first night the fire alarm went off at 0200, 0400 and 0500, it was a very sleepless night and we should be compensated as it ruined our Sunday, we were half asleep mot of the day
Vicinanza al mare
Vecchia e triste
Lovely staff and great dinner
Altes Mobiliar, sehr schrottig
Tasty menu in restaurant, lovely staff in restaurant, ability to eat dinner and breakfast in hotel; outdoor patio; bar; stone and dirt path to the river. Food: good lamb dish with lots of fresh vegetables, good leek & potato soup, delicious sticky toffee pudding, full buffet breakfast with plenty of choices.
Outdated building and furniture, small stuffy room #11A with window that only opens a crack, no fan provided after we asked, no one to help carry bags up two flights of stairs, tiny bathroom, slippery floor inside shower stall, multiple heavy fire doors throughout that are very hard to open, no access to Silver Sands of Morar (which is why we went to Morar) without a 1+ hour walk, very quiet with nothing around but a few houses, nothing to do except eat, drink, and drive to the beach, where you have to pay to park after the first hour (but it was raining when we went so there was nothing to do except a short walk on the beach)
Solamente vale la pena el restaurante.
El precio, la limpieza, anticuado . Mucha humedad.
. Le pub quelconque sans effort de déco.
Widok z okna, lokalizacja
Easy access to Morar station where I was catching the train from the next day
The room was a bit dated and there was mould in the shower tray; needs resealed
The location 5mn away from the port to Isle of Skye, the Sea view from the room, the food was delicious and the staff is lovely
The rooms are quite old and poorly soundproofed, however the staff is making the most of it to make you enjoy your stay
Outstanding view from my room. Very helpful front desk staff. The beach right below the hotel was beautiful and serene during low tide.
Nicer pillows would have been good. Didn't realize it was hard to get into Mallaig.
The back porch
Black mold in the bathroom, the head board was broken and hanging sideways, the windows couldn’t open as the curtain rod was blocking, the small lights and towel rack didn’t work and it was expensive!
The towel heater has pushbutton outside the bathroom which will only run this heater for 1 hour. Taking into account the rainy weather in this region this makes very hard to dry your clothes
The location. Despite the state of the building whoever does the cleaning should be praised as the attention to detail of what could be cleaned was spot on.
The terrible state of the decor, the horrendous mattresses, the cheek of paying extra for a sea view room that could only be seen when you stood up next to it if you’re an adult. The single rooms were described as “cell like” by the rest of our party. If we had the option to leave we would have as £700 for 3 rooms for one night is an absolute disgrace to be charged.
Restaurant délicieux jolie vue personnel sympathique
Rien tout était ok
The location was good. It was close to Mallaig and the ferry to Skye. The sea view was very nice.
Breakfast was self service. Hot food was poor. There was no choice of fruit or croissants just toast.
Lovely location. Friendly staff. Comfortable rooms. Good value.
Breakfast option, when included with room price, was slightly more limited in choice options, but otherwise comparable in quality with some other hotels boasting 4 stars. Dinner choices were well presented and substantial.
Housekeeping was, I suspect, suffering from a quick turnaround of one night stays, with other areas bearing the brunt of cleaning in public areas being overlooked or inadequate. My single room was just about adequate, but an upgrade of furnishings would have helped. The shower room was, by contrast, modern and good quality. However, larger guests would find the fittings very tightly close together. The bar area was most in need of improvement. A mix of unmatched styles of tables and chairs, no soft furnishings and harsh lighting gave it no identity, other than cold and unwelcome. Overall, I needed to remind myself that the hotel is in a tourist area - I saw guests from several nationalities during my brief stay, but anything linking the hotel to the history of this part of Scotland was sadly missing. If I was a foreign visitor looked for authentic Scottish hospitality I would have been disappointed.
The place was in a stunning location
There was mold in the room and throughout the hotel. WiFi sadly was not working in the room but the reception girl was really helpful in trying to fix the issue
It was in a fantastic location and the staff were friendly
It was tired and needs some money spending on it
Didn’t really like anything about the hotel. The Morar beaches were nice and staff were pleasant when checking in and out.
Hotel is outdated and feel it was very expensive for what we actually received. We didn’t pay an extra £30 for a sea view so our view from window was a wall of the next building. Bathroom didn’t look like it had been cleaned very well and towels smelt of smoke. Paid extra £30 to secure parking space when booking but when turned up car park was empty and when mentioned to front desk about if to register car or anything they said its fine so paying for car space seemed like a waste of money. Didn’t have a good nights sleep as heard every door slam when being opened and closed.
Gutes Frühstück, bequeme Betten, netter Empfang, Essen okay, kostenloser Parkplatz.
Leider kein Aufzug.
Lovely location. Amazing views. Train stops outside the hotel for easy travel and I didnt hear it. Solo traveller. Well stocked tea & coffee facilities.
Old world charm but...
... a bit rundown.
Good view from my room. Good location for catching a ferry from Malaig Good to have on site carpark
Very expensive for what we got. The room wasn't very big. The en suite was tiny, blocked basin waste, Food was expensive. Owners didn't take cash for rooms, food or drink. I did NC500 over 8 days and this was the most expensive hotel we used with very average to poor value for money compared to others we stayed at but not alot of choice when catching early morning ferries to Isle of skye,
Friendly staff. Llovely weather so the view was amazing. Convenient for Isle of Skye ferry from Mallaig. Steam train passes 4 times a day 🙂 The restaurant was nice.
Top location! Very quit and million dollar scenery
Super close to the train station, and a perfect walking distance to the silver beaches.
My room got too warm. But again, I was there in the summer
Lage war gut
The view is stunning; perched up on a hillside with amazing views. The place has a lot of potential!
Sadly the potential is not met with adequate interiors. There were a lot of maintenance issues (malfunctioning light bulbs), the room was very basically decorated, and the mattress was extremely low quality.
Had an evening meal booked, food was good enough Breakfast was average Location is good for anyone travelling to the islands, the hotel has potential but needs some work. This hotel has a lot of opportunity, but needs a lot of tweaks to get it to where it could and should be
Room was far too small for a double, only suitable for a single. At the price charged it was ridiculously small, you wouldn't have been able to swing the proverbial cat in it. Decor also left a lot to be desired.
Loved the view from the verandah. Restaurant meals were very good. Room was clean.
