Forest Tree Top was the highlight of our time in Sri Lanka. It’s set in an incredible landscape, with one of the most attentive and caring hosts. Bhati and his family care so much about making your stay the best it can be; from the generous and delicious meals, the sparkling clean guesthouse, or the Yala safari where Bhati’s knowledge and respect of animals was so evident. Swimming in the local river to cool off was also a highlight.

A great find . Guesthouse is set in a the trees on the rage of sugar plantations and jungle so it is an amazing quiet hideaway . We loved the breezy open plan house that is open to nature .and just chilling in the hammocks of down by the river. Bhattyia is the most amazing host and runs very fairly priced safaris to the quieter areas of yala - he is extremely knowledgable about the local area and wildlife He will share photos of your your safari that he takes on his fancy camera . His mum is an amazing cook and although the meals are slightly pricier than in some guesthouses, the quality and quantity is outstanding so it’s actually great value. We enjoyed the tour of the fruit gardens snd tasting new exotic fruits . I would have liked to stay longer .

Esperienza incredibile immersi nella natura e nella pace. Bhathiya e la sua famiglia sono gentilissimi e super ospitali, ti fanno sentire a casa. Si percepisce la passione per gli animali e il rispetto per la natura circostante. Il cibo preparato dalla mamma è delizioso e super abbondante. Le esperienze di Safari e giro dei dintorni sono indimenticabili. Lui ha una pazienza infinita per farti vedere tutti gli animali durante il Safari, inoltre è bravissimo nel trovarli e spiegarti tutto su di loro. Il posto si trova in mezzo alla jungla e ai campi di frutta ,il proprietario molto gentile e disponibile ,orgàizza tutto lui dalla colazione(fantastica) alla cena ,al safari ,è stato l'hôtel piu bello di tutta la vacanza,una vera immersione nella natura .

Alles! Vanaf het ophaalmoment tot vertrek werden we volledig in de watten gelegd. De host en zijn ouders zijn prachtige mensen die elke gast een unieke beleving willen geven. Het voelde als luxe en verwennerij op alle vlakken. De safari’s , het diner, ontbijt, huis, bedden, …. Alles was gewoon top. Niet twijfelen, gewoon doen!

The treehouse is nestled right in the middle of lush nature, surrounded by banana plants and towering trees. While it’s actually a ground-level concrete house with its own bathroom, the absence of outer walls creates an open, immersive connection to the natural surroundings. Next door, you’ll find the family’s home and their lovingly tended garden, adding to the authentic and welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast was prepared with such care and generosity that we couldn’t finish it all, despite how delicious everything was. The family even woke up at 3 a.m. to ensure we had a hearty packed breakfast to take with us on our safari to Yala National Park. Dinner was equally delightful, made with fresh ingredients straight from their own garden. In the afternoons, we were treated to fresh bananas, homemade biscuits, and a choice of strong, aromatic coffee or tea. Even though the property is set within an expansive sugarcane plantation, it feels as though you’re in the heart of a national park. The Yala National Park (Gate 4) is just about 30 minutes away, making it an ideal location for wildlife enthusiasts. Bathiya is simply the best host you could imagine. He dedicated so much of his time to us, always attentive and thoughtful, yet never intrusive. As an exceptional guide, he took us on his safari truck through the vast sugarcane fields to hidden lakes, where we witnessed stunning sunrises and sunsets. His deep knowledge of the local birds and wildlife enriched our experience immensely—we spotted countless birds, two fishing cats, a jungle cat, and even numerous elephant tracks. Anyone who loves nature will feel instantly at home here. Many thanks to Bathiya and his parents for an unforgettable stay.

An amazing location and above all an amazing host. Bhathiya has a deep connection to the area and is extremely knowledgeable about the local birds and wildlife. A highlight was the evening drive through the cane fields to watch birds coming to roost around a lake. There is also a magical river by the property where you can relax and bathe to cool down. The food, cooked by Bhathiya’s mother is very tasty and plentiful. A huge thank you to you and your family

We’ve stayed in some incredible places in Sri Lanka but this was definitely the most special. Bhathiya and his family were so kind and his local safari was amazing. We’ll be recommending it all friends and family as everyone needs to experience it!! Thanks Bhathiya!

When people ask us about our trip in Sri Lanka, the first thing that pops in mind, is our days with Bathi and his parents, at this lovely fruit plantation, deep in to the sugarcane plantations. Nat his mother cooked us the biggest and most delicious feasts, and our kids felt safe and relaxed to play around the garden, catching frogs and coconut shells, playing in the river and pretending they were driving Bathis open jeep. He took us on a safari in Yala, birdwatching by sunset and also gave us a ride to the local doctor when our son had an ear infection. We stayed there for two night, but wish we would have stayed for longer. Thank you again for this unforgettable experience, with the absolute best treatment we had during our trip. Everyone in Sri Lanka was very nice to us, so it really is a big compliment :) Hope you are well.

Я долго выбирала отель рядом с национальным парком Яла и остановилась на этом варианте, руководствуясь прочитанными отзывами и в дальнейшем во время переписки с владельцем отеля только утвердилась в мнении, это то, что нам нужно. Нам хотелось максимального погружения в природу - мы его получили. Батия и его семья очень добрые и душевные люди. Мама Батия искусный повар, так вкусно нас нигде не кормили. Приготовленные ею самоса мы будем долго вспоминать) Батия сделал все, чтобы наше пребывание было насыщенным разнообразными впечатлениями. Наше сафари на целый день, организованное Батия было самым ярким событием за всю нашу поездку. Я рада, что он убедил меня взять сафари на целый день, хотя сначала я хотела поехать только на утреннее сафари, так как боялась, что в силу нашего возраста, нам будет тяжело на 12 часовом сафари. Батия настоящий следопыт, мы обследовали все места, где можно было встретить леопарда и других животных, он был неутомим и поразил нас своим энтузиазмом. И хотя в этот день леопард так нам и не показался, мы абсолютно не расстроились, потому что увидели много других интересных животных и птиц. Кроме сафари Батия возил нас на своем джипе по окрестностям в поисках птиц, в один из вечеров мы видели как огромные птицы-носороги собираются на ночевку. И мы даже наблюдали ранним утром пролет многомилионной стаи розовых скворцов и майн над нашими головами. Это было феерическое и незабываемое зрелище! Это экоотель, поэтому условия соответствующие. Мы жили на втором этаже, в нашем жилище не было стен в привычном понимании и от окружающей среды нас отгораживала только москитная сетка над кроватью. Зато днем туда залетали птицы, а вечером, когда погасили свет - светлячки. Ванная комната и туалет находились на первом этаже. Нас это не смущало, но предупредить я должна. Отель находится на берегу реки, в ней можно искупаться.

Нет ничего, что нам не понравилось. Если только то, что нам бы хотелось остаться там на дольше. Два дня - катастрофически мало)

Amazing and unforgettable experience living in an open sided house surrounded by nature in the middle of a plantation.Bhati and his family were incredible hosts and our whole 6 day experience was beyond words, Breakfast and dinner was like a Sri Lankan banquet, (also afternoon tea /biscuits) you won't go hungry,(we brought snacks but didn't touch them)a brilliant mix of various vegetable curries, chicken, fish, Dahl, roti, fruits,curd etc.. Our full day safari was outstanding,we saw so many elephants,crocs and even a sloth bear.Bhatis vast knowledge and respect and love of nature is amazing always stopping the jeep to point out birds and animals, we didn't miss a thing.Slept amazingly well,nights were cool and comfortable under the nets and listening to the chorus of wildlife was just so peaceful.Evening jeep to the lakes was unforgettable,hundreds of hornbills, fishing cats and on one night a bull elephant.Bhati is an incredible young man and does everything to make your stay magical. We feel very lucky to have been able to spend time there.10 out of 10 all round.

Our stay was great and so interesting thanks to the great knowledge and explanations of Bhathiya. Thanks a lot to him and his parents for the safari tours, their hospitality and the very good food. It was our most interesting stay so far in Sri Lanka.

I can only agree fully with the many positives of other guests. Although The accommodation is quite simple and is basically a camping in an unique setting, everything works, the beds are comfortable, with good mosquito nets, it is very clean. Breakfast and dinner are both outstanding. In the night it is totally quiet - except for the elephant that came to munch banana trees one night. The price is right for the accommodation. The price for breakfast and dinner is very fair. The real standout however is the owner Bathyia who is an absolute gem. On our sri lanka trip we met many kind, hospitable, engaged people but I can’t imagine how a host can be more engaged, more open, more welcoming, more relaxed, more professional or more accessible than Bathiya. We did a half day safari in Yala and the evening bird safari with him and he made it our favorite day of one month travel in sri lanka.

An amazing experience right next to Yala National Park, in the middle of sugarcane plantations and surrounded by unique wildlife that you can spot during a jeep tour around the hotel. I received an incredibly warm welcome, and both breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend it – it was one of the highlights of my trip through Sri Lanka!

Unieke en prachtige plek door de locatie, de fijne beheerder en mooie natuur! Er wordt voor je gezorgd vanaf het ophalen met de jeep en dat is gelijk genieten.

Extrême gentillesse des hôtes, excellent repas, environnement champêtre et sauvage. Beaucoup d’insectes mais bons équipements pour s’en protéger. Ambiance féerique : nous sommes endormis endormir regardant des lucioles voler dans la chambre. Super safari avec notre hôte dans le parc de Yala : pas trop de jeeps à cet endroit du parc et des animaux (nous avons notamment vu 4 léopards et des éléphants).

Dass wir auf diese Unterkunft gestoßen sind, war eher Glück und Zufall, aber es war das absolut Beste, was uns passieren konnte. Schon als Bhathi uns abholte und mit seinem Jeep durch die Zuckerrohrfelder zur Unterkunft fuhr, war uns klar, dass dies ein ganz besonderer Ort ist. Das Grundstück ist der Hammer mit einem wunderbaren Garten voller exotischer Obstbäume und einer Badestelle am Fluß. Und drum herum ist nur Natur. Für Leute, die die Natur und Tiere mögen, gibt es wirklich nichts besseres. Der Host Bhathi macht das Ganze noch besser, weil er alles über die Vögel und anderen Tiere in der Umgebung weiß und man seine Leidenschaft spürt, während er einem alles zeigt und erklärt. Allgemein kann man diese Unterkunft nicht bewerten ohne Bhathi zu erwähnen, da er sich quasi die ganze Zeit als privater Guide um einen kümmert und einem dabei Dinge zeigt, die man sonst nie zu Gesicht bekommen würde. Der Sonnenuntergang am See im Zuckerohrfeld war einer der schönsten, die wir je gesehen haben und später haben wir dort noch den unfassbaren Sternenhimmel inklusive Glühwürmchen gesehen. Außerdem bietet Bhathi eine Safari im nördlichen Teil von Yala an, wo viel weniger los ist und alle respektvoll mit der Natur umgingen. Auch hier zeigte der Host vollen Einsatz und wir haben tatsächlich einen Leoparden gesehen. Das Essen kocht seine Mutter und es ist der absolute Hammer. Insgesamt war das einer der besten Aufenthalte, die wir je hatten und es ist ein absolutes must-do für Leute, die auf Natur stehen. Man hat verständlicher Weise weniger Luxus so weit von der Zivilisation entfernt, aber für Leute, die bereit sind, sich darauf einzulassen, ist dieses Erlebnis ein Traum.

Wir waren hier mit unseren 3 Kindern. Es war eine richtige Oase - die beste Unterkunft in unserem gesamten Sri Lanka Urlaub. Wunderschöne Aussicht/Natur, Baden im Fluss, leckeres Essen, top Betreuung, Entspannung pur. Bhathiya hat uns die Tierwelt super erklärt und all unsere Fragen beantwortet (z.B. wie man String Hoppers macht). Die 2 Nächte/Tage waren viel zu schnell vorbei - wir können jedem raten, mindestens 3 Nächte zu bleiben.

"Away from it all" location. The best home-cooked food we have had in Sri Lanka. Host who goes out-of-his-way to show you the wildlife and area.

Nothing! This isn't a 5* hotel. You are sleeping in an open-sided space. You will hear animals at night and feel the wind. This is an experience that might not suit everyone.

This is not a simple accomodation, this is a unique and immersive experience into nature and Sri Lanka culture. The owner is a special person and he will host you at his best, you could feel sourranded by attention since the beginning. The place is a farm in the middle of a sugarcane plantation. You will sleep having an open window to sounds of nature and fireflys will appear over your beds. Everything is super clean and the dinner was fantastic, prepared by the host’s mum. We made a Safari at Yala gate 3 and thanks to wonderful guidance we saw 3 leopards, mangust, eagles and crocodiles We are first guest from Italy..i cannot recommend it more!!

Een prachtig verblijf in een schitterende omgeving. Wat is het er mooi en rustgevend. Bhati is een ontzettende fijne gastheer. Hij laat trots zijn omgeving zien en tijdens de safari had hij oog voor de dieren. In de avond gingen we er ook op uit met de jeep en zagen we een olifant in het suikerriet. Het eten was echt fantastisch net als het ontbijt. Veel, gevarieerd en heerlijke smaken.

Niets veel tegen, maar onze kinderen vonden het wel erg spannend om "buiten" te slapen. Zoveel geluiden. Echt een avontuur!

Bhathiya is een uitstekende gastheer. Hij kwam ons op halen in zijn jeep vanaf de bushalte aan de grote weg. Het huisje is primitief maar bevalt heel goed. Het is schoon, voorzien van badkamer en klamboes. Voor elektriciteit gaat de generator aan. Hij neemt je ook mee in zijn tuin en mee op safari. We hebben nu geen olifanten gezien maar die lopen er wel. Wel veel vogels. Diner en ontbijt worden ook prima verzorgd. Heel veel variatie en super lekker. Als je bier wilt, moet je dat wel vragen als je opgehaald wordt. Dan koopt hij dat naast het benzinestation.

Cannot say enough good things about our stay. Barty was an amazing host for our 2 nights there. He took us on a free evening tour of the sugar cane farm and lakes which you drive thru to get to his property (a bird lovers paradise). He also took us on a full day safari tour at Yala where we saw countless birds and animals and were lucky enough to spot a leopard. His mom will feed you like a grandma. You are guaranteed not to go hungry. Barty went above and beyond our expectations for everything he did for us.

That was truly amazing time! Super clean, super super tasty food! I am really missing sri lankas curry made by Bhathiya mother! That was something special. Amazing nature around, singing birds, sounds of frogs at night. And of course Safari. Even if we were not so lucky with weather, we still enjoyed it too We will never forget our stay there❤️

It was a fantastic experience. Our host, Bhathia, took such loving care of us. He showed us and explained the many plants in his garden. His mother is an amazing cook and spoiled us every day with a hearty breakfast and a wonderful dinner. The private safari in the nearby Yala Park was also very nice; we even saw a leopard. The house has no windows, but that wasn't a problem at all. Quite the opposite: it was lovely to hear all the animals and birds—real wildlife at day and at night. There is a mosquito net over the bed so you can sleep peacefully and not get bitten by moskitos. A small river behind the house is perfect for cooling. All in all, a very nice stay in the middle of nature with very friendly and helpful hosts. Don't expect luxury, but everything is very clean. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back sometime.

The farm that Bathy and his family live on is a little piece of paradise. Sitting close to the entrance to Yala national park. Walking tours of the farm, local nature/sunset drives and full on safari drives in Yala are available. We saw leopards and elephants on these. The food his family cooked was the best we’ve eaten in Sri Lanka and we’ve been here for several weeks now eating in restaurants for every meal. The farm is a wonderful place to just ‘be’. Suitable for every type of traveler. We’re a family with 2 children under 8 years old snd it was so wonderful. The family were so attentive and kind and welcoming whilst also giving us space to ourselves as well. Even just on the farm there’s lots of monkeys, hornbills, parrots and bats to be seen. The night sky is also amazing with so little light pollution. There is a beautiful river running beside the property that we swam in every day to cool down. Bathy’s wildlife knowledge of his home is encyclopedic and very interesting.

BEST stay on our entire trip through Sri Lanka. Truly such a unique experience. Bethiya was such a wonderful host. He was so enthusiastic during our safari tour, we had so much fun. The beds were comfortable and had bug nets. Sleeping in the woods was so relaxing, we could hear the leaves of the trees rustling in the night. The food was INCREDIBLE. Such a great price. I recommend this place to everyone.

Beautiful experience, staying on Bhathiyas family farm. Location is remote, so perfect place to take in the area, Safari, eat, relax. All the food made by his Mum was amazing! Would highly recommend for anyone that was to be off grid!

Lots of mosquitoes - bring spray & long clothes. There is a sheet for sleeping, but a blanket would be nicer for comfort as the temp drops in the morning/evening.

Bhati was amazing. Our kids loved him and everything about the open sided accommodation cool mosquito nets, looking round his fruit farm and trying all the fruits they picked, amazing dinner, cool open air safari car etc etc. He took us on a great explore in the evening around the sugar cane farm and tried sugar cane etc and climbing local towers looking for elephants. So close to buttala but so remote we didn’t see any other tourists and everyone was so friendly. We had so much fun with him and wished we’d stayed longer. Yala morning safari was incredible also we saw so much and amazing breakfast in the park. Totally recommend this for a family adventure

Bhatiya and his family are excellent, such good hosts and serve amazing food. We stayed with them for one night on their 20 acre fruit farm and had such a good time. Bhati offered to pick us up from Buttala, then we got to their place around midday. This gave us time for a delicious lunch, followed by a walking tour of the farm to see the crops and all the surrounding nature, and a sunset drive to some local lakes to see some excellent bird life. You get to sleep in an open sided building on the first floor, and feel really in touch with nature listening to the sounds of the night. Next day, Bhati took us on a safari in his own safari jeep to Yala (Galge entrance) for a fair price. He was such a knowledgeable guide, we saw loads of animals and had a great time (including amazing food again for breakfast and lunch). While we weren't lucky enough to see a leopard on this occasion, we were on the trail of the alarm calls for one but it went deeper into the bush. We really appreciated going to the part of Yala that we did - while it's harder to spot leopards using the Galge entrance than the more popular entrances further south, we valued being one of 10-15 vehicles we saw that day, instead of one of 100-200 that often enter the more popular blocks. All in all, an amazing experience, and a definite highlight of our trip in Sri Lanka.

Amazing place!!! The host is just the sweetest, and offers an amazing safari to Yala at much cheaper than third party websites, and he grew up spotting animals so you are in good hands (we even saw a leopard!). I cannot recommend this place more, it is quite special!

If you want to stay close to nature and experience first hand life in the wild this is the perfect place for you. The location is great, remote, there is nothing else than sugarcane farm and Yala park around you. The host is amazing and offers evening tours around the farm to show you wild elephants, birds and lots of other animals. We also had the best curry there for dinner - truly amazing, the mother of the owner is an amazing chef. Driver also picked us up and dropped off in the closest city and organised a taxi to our next destination

A little fan would be great as it can get a bit hot sometimes

I travel extensively and the stay with Bathiya’s family at Forest Treetop holiday resort was a highlight of my trips. Bathiya picked us up from the main road and drove us in his jeep to his beautiful treehouse surrounded by farm. We fell in love with the farm immediately . There are all kinds of fruit and vegetables. He took time to explain to us the vegetables and fruit. He also took my son to do gem digging in the river surrounded by monkeys and peacocks. Later he showed us around in his jeep and also took us on a night tour near the farm. His mother cooked an amazing Sri Lankan dinner for us, we felt at home . the next morning he took us on the safari tour in Yala Park. He was amazing at spotting animals and birds . We basically owned the whole park to ourselves because we entered through the Galge entrance and most tourists go to the southern block. This is a place NOT to be missed . And you will feel true Sri Lanka hospitality with Bathiya ! And we miss the dog John

We had a wonderful stay! Our host showed us the sugar cane plantation, went on a little safari with us, spoiled our two little boys with sugar cane and river adventures and we couldn't have imagined a better stop on our road trip through Sri Lanka! The food was delicious, the service too and the host family was super friendly! Thank you for everything! We'll be happy to come back!

This is a great place with wonderful view next to the river. The extraordinary friendly staff, a very helpful family prepared extremely tasty food for breakfast and dinner. We had a great Safari experience with the Jeep of the owner - felt like we were the only visitors to Yala National Park - owner is giving all to deliver an extraordinary experience. Very recommended!

Everything! ❤️. If you want a 10 star Sri Lankan experience, this is the place to stay! Bhathi and his family have created a piece of paradise on this property outside of Buttala at the north of Yala NP. From the wonderful food to the genuine kindness that this family provides - this is truly what Sri Lanka is all about. From here, you can also experience a safari with Bhathi on the quieter, less touristy side of Yala National Park. Great job, Bhathi - you are truly a wonderful young man, and we really hope to be back visiting you and your family again!! ❤️

That we only stayed one night. 😕

We were welcomed by Bathi and his parents in a complete remote hotel, hidden in vast sugar fields..Bathi showed us his big eco garden, booming with fruit, next to a small river. After a short rest, we went for a tour around the lakes in Bathis jeep, seeing rare birds and Bathi knowingly explaining what we saw. Dinner made by Bathis mother was excellent! The night was spent in an open room just covered with a giant moscito net - so it was as if we slept in the jungle.At 4.45 Bhati served coffee and if we went for a safari, where we saw a Leopard, loads of different birds, elephants- we were even chased by one. Again, Bhati showed us and explained us very throughout all we were experiencing. You are not in a place with tourists, air con and bars, but in a secluded wild life situation, in the caring hands of Bhati and his family. It was an amazing experience, and I will never forget it.

I hope it will stay like it is forever…

In one word perfect! It’s a little hustle to get to the accomodation. But when you’re there bathiya will do everything to make you feel welcome. From a little walk through his garden to the amazing dinner he will provide for you. We even did 2 little safari’s in his jeep and he will tell you everything he knows about the animals and nature. When we go to Sri Lanka again, we defenitely will come back here!
