Reviewed May 4, 2026Lovely location, neat, clean, cozy, comfy and perfect for one nights stay. The hosts were also super communicative, and ever so well mannered. I would absolutely stay again!
Parking was a slight concern, when we arrived most options were to park other guests in. Luckily I have a small car and we managed to wrangle in! The coffee in the room was also congealed, perhaps could be replaced? Otherwise, fantastic spot!

It's situated in a tranquil area, very peaceful and quiet. we absolutely loved the full English breakfast. To our surprise, we were welcomed into a room with chocolates, biscuits and tea, which was a lovely touch. Thank you for the wonderful stay.

I had to pay full price. - Not enough undercover parking. - The complimentary rusks I found there were missing the day after checking in. - The blinds without the curtain don’t give enough privacy. - A table and chair could come in handy.

Reviewed Jul 15, 2025We stayed the The Three Trees this past weekend and it was such a smooth process with collecting and dropping off the keys. The room was beautiful and comfortable. Definitely a place to consider if you looking for accommodation in Hillcrest. We attended a wedding closeby and needed somewhere comfortable to stay and get ready and I dont regret choosing The Three Trees. Bridget was always available to chat to us if we had any questions etc. A 5 star rating from me.

Reviewed Jun 15, 2025I booked a three night stay over the Comrades Marathon weekend (6/6/2025-9/6/2025) as I was running as I was running on the 8th. I was with my sister. Bridget sent me a video on how to access the apartment a day before my arrival and checked on us to make sure that we successfully checked in the next day. She was quick to respond to my questions, which I asked through messages. We had a special request upon arrival, and she went over and beyond to assist us without taking advantage of our situation (Thank you, Bridget😊). We met Bridget's brother Liam on arrival (what a gentleman). He assisted us with our luggage and made sure we were well settled. Although this is a self-catering accommodation, there was coffee and milk for us to use . Oh yes, and we also got our welcome chocolates. There's an outside table and chairs where we sat and enjoyed our coffee the evening we arrived on. The apartment was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and it had an electric blanket. There's a big TV that we never got to use as we spent most of the time out and came back too tired. We were also told that there's a pool at the back that we can use, but we also never used it.The shower had nice hot water. The place was also about 53kms from the Pietermaritzburg comrades marathon start, which is much closer than if we had booked in Durban, so it was very convenient and it is also near the marathon route (the 58.5km cutoff point). We had a short but wonderful stay. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back for a more relaxed stay.

Reviewed Mar 28, 2025A wonderful 5-night stay at The Three Trees from March 22nd to March 27th. The home was incredibly welcoming, making me feel at ease from the moment I arrived. The property is beautifully located, offering easy access to local attractions. My accommodation was both comfortable and clean, providing a perfect retreat after exploring the area. It was a fantastic experience and would highly recommend The Three Trees to anyone visiting Gillitts and surrounds Bridget went out of her way to make my stay enjoyable! I will definitely return in the future! :)

Dogs barking on the property incl. during the night and early morning. No curtains (only blinds with gaps) and the unit is visible from the street, so not very private or dark. No hairdryer which should be standard for people traveling out of town.
