The hospirality in this place is beyond measure. The grounds and buildings are immaculate, staff friendly with quick service, the food excelkent and beautifully presented. I had the chocolate fondant pudding which was to die for, after chicken supreme which was a very flavoursome plate. I scored 10/10 for everything!!

We stayed in a family room with a separate twin room it was Cozy, clean , stylish decor and furnishings and gardens. A delicious breakfast included, and a delightful walk to the beach! My kids loved it!

The Mason Arms ist eine ganz außergewöhnlich schöne alte Location, absolut stilvoll, gemütlich und mit wunderbarem Essen und extrem freundlichem Personal. Eines der besten Hotels das wir jemals hatten, mit einem sehr guten Preis-Leistungsverhältnis insbesondere beim Essen.

Eine etwas bessere Beleuchtung im Restaurant insbesondere aber auch in den Schlafzimmer zum Lesen wäre eine deutliche Verbesserung ...

Charming place Love the overall experience

We had two rooms One for our 3 children which was spacious and nice. The other room where my wife and I stayed was tiny, low ceiling. So would ask for the larger rooms.

Bedrooms were spacious beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Loved the private terrace at top bedrooms too.

A charming and classic British pub experience with excellent food and hospitality. The location is a modest walk to the beach which is a must to visit, clean and pretty and uncrowded. We were really happy with our stay and hope to return sometime!

The superior double room was lovely with giant bed and good bathroom with great shower. Being situated on a corner was a bonus.The room was big enough that it really could have benefitted from a sofa at the end of the bed with a large rug surrounding the sofa. That would have made the room perfect. But it was good as it was.

Oh gosh, the bar and restaurant staff desperately need some training. Lovely individuals but not much idea about prompt service. There was rather poor communication, virtually no cohesion between staff members and a lack of prescient management. The young staff all seemed to be racing around like headless chickens but in doing so were unfocused on the guests. People were standing at the bar for 20 minutes waiting to be served and seated at table for 25 minutes waiting for a drink. No water was offered despite the menu suggesting unlimited spring water available. Fawlty Towers springs to mind for various reasons. In the morning, towards the latter part of breakfast, all staff seemed to disappear, leading to one frustrated customer becoming very vocally unhappy. On leaving the restaurant, the 2 breakfast staff members were seen eating their own breakfast in the shaded area of the terrace while customers were calling for them. There were many service frustrations, leading to us driving down to the beach for breakfast the next day rather than eat in the hotel. Such a shame as the hotel itself is absolutely lovely and the location very picturesque. The management company really needs to address these service issues on quite an urgent basis.

The property was amazing! Suited our needs exactly! Plenty of space in the room and very clean and tidy. The building had loads of character .

We were told the milk in the fridge would get refilled every day but didn’t but not a problem as I took the bottle to the bar and they refilled it straight away.

Lovely accommodation, comfy, cosy and well thought out. From the terrace with chairs to see views over the valley and the private entrances to rooms in the cottages. The food was lovely and the setting is superb - a lovely flat walk to the most beautiful beach. Staff are friendly and helpful without exception - we'd definitely go back again.

Parking can be a little tricky sometimes when it's busy but staff were fabulous and found us a spot for our landrover. If I had one suggestion it would be to provide fans in rooms when the heat is extreme because the windows open to catch the breeze but are secured so they can't be whipped open too far if there is a wind. A minor issue as we did get the breeze mostly and the weather has been extreme.

The property is in the most perfect location. A small walk to the beach and close to Lyme Regis. The rooms are cozy and comfortable. Of course the pub is also terrific.

The spinach at breakfast was a little gritty but this was an isolated situation.

Colazione e cena eccellenti nella qualità, con menù non troppo ampio ma anche per vegetariani. Mini bar molto ben fornito e ottima macchina espresso. Bella posizione per fare passeggiate e volendo anche vita da spiaggia di sassi, (raggiungibile sia a piedi sia in auto con parcheggio a pagamento). La struttura ha molte tipologie di camere alcune con veranda.

Il parcheggio non è grandissimo e richiede attenzione ma il villaggio è piccolo in sé. Il meteo era eccellente ma molto caldo durante il nostro soggiorno, la camera era leggermente calda ma lasciando la finestra aperta di notte siamo stati bene. Considerando come si stanno evolvendo le temperature stagionali forse è bene pensare a piumini o coperte più leggeri per un comfort ancora maggiore. Branscombe, come molti altri villaggi in zona, si raggiunge con strade di campagna molto strette, sostanzialmente larghe come una sola auto anche se a doppio senso. Serve attenzione, è meglio -avere copertura assicurativa totale per le auto a noleggio.

It was very hot! In the heat wave the windows and the fan did not create enough air to make the bedroom bearable, (room 11). We visited 2 years ago and remember that the food was better then.

I cannot praise highly enough, we had a wonderful stay to celebrate our anniversary in this beautiful, olde worlde establishment. We have visited before many years ago, so knew the building was lovely, and the service and food did not disappoint. The accommodation we stayed in was sited behind the main building with own terraces and seating which was especially lovely as we visited in a heatwave. The rooms have every possible extra, fridges. Mini bar(with much appreciated free beer on arrival)! hairdryer, lovely toiletries, rainwater shower,fan in room, coffee machine, cookies - I could go on. An excellent place to stay. Just a 10 minute walk from a beautiful beach and near to that other favourite spot of ours the lovely village of Beer, worth a visit if you not been there, as is the Foutain's Head a very different hostelry to the Masons Arms but still worth a visit at the other end of Branscomb (closed Sunday evening until Tuesday evening), really good pub grub and beautifully old and quaint. The Masons Arms were extremely busy when we stayed but the staff remained highly professional, I highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely large room. Up steep steps for our room. So if you don’t like steps ask for ground floor room. Lovely little village. Bed very comfortable. Food was very good. Breakfast was delicious and so much to choose from. Would definitely stay again.

Abbiamo prenotato vedendo nel sito un immagine di una camera che all’arrivo non era come da foto, facendolo presente al personale ci hanno risposto che hanno riscontrato questo problema con il sito e che come nella descrizione ne avevano solo 3 di cui 2 come da foto e erano già occupate. Che la nostra assegnata era dello stesso valore comunque.

Staff in the main we're helpful and happy. I liked the overall ambience.

Breakfast was good, but I would have preferred a bowl of fruit to a big cooked meal. Daily room service was a bit haphazard and sometimes things were forgotten.

We had the most wonderful stay at the Masons Arms! It’s is a beautiful hotel, great food and a good location so close to the beach. We were traveling with our kids and stayed in family room 23, right above the terrace so we did experience a lot of noise in the middle of summer, but the team went above and beyond to help, keep tables clear under our window and offer multiple other room options. Ended up in room 20, also partially above the terrace but much quieter and even more beautiful. Very impressed with the staff and how helpful and lovely they were, thank you!!

Family rooms above the terrace is not perfect in summer when people eat and drink outside, but as mentioned the team went above and beyond to help so all was ok in the end!

The bed was very comfortable and the room thoughtfully laid out.

I've been staying here for more than 20 years and this was the worst breakfast I've had. They forgot one of the items, the plate was stone cold, the food tepid and the bacon rashers firmly stuck together.

Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful from start to finish. The food is excellent - and prices are not crazy given the really high quality. Everything is spotlessly clean and well cared for. We stayed in the pub itself so rooms are not massive but charmingly decorated and have all you could need. The location, with a breathtaking beach just a 15 mins walk away is stunning.

Only one small gripe that the rooms were very hot - but that's unavoidable given the old building and the heatwave. There was a noisy and large portable A/C unit in our room, but didn't really do the job. If you are super-sensitive to over-heating, don't visit in summertime!

Wasn't over impressed with our dinner... It appeared to be a continuation of Sunday lunch.. The crab cocktail was poor value..95% lettuce. Very narrow twisty steep road down to the village..(thanks Google!). Best approach is from the west.

Parking - there was none available when I arrived and I had a lot of hassle from people complaining about me parking out front as bus struggles to get through village (reception knew and there were no signs advising not to park there), and despite multiple attempts to move my car to car park, only found a spot about 9pm. Staff were friendly but not helpful. Noise - there was banging until 10pm at night and then from 7am. Not sure if some building work was going on? I was not advised of this. I would like to return to Branscombe but won’t be booking this hotel.

Sehr freundliches Personal. Tolles Pub mit leckerem Essen. Die Strand war nahe gelegen und ideal zu Fuß zu erreichen. Hier kann man den Alltag vergessen.

Vielleicht die etwas schwierigere Parkplatzsituation, welche aber gerne in Kauf genommen wird bei einer so tollen Unterkunft.

I liked the comfortable bed, decor of the bathroom. Good shower. I loved the outdoor space outside the room ( table, chairs and umbrella) This made all the difference with the hot weather we’ve had. A real bonus.

Breakfast was very busy ( 60 servings!) More staff needed at peak times.

Ontbijt was royaal, veel keuzes. Vriendelijke bediening.

Kamers waren erg warm. Airco of goede ventilator zou fijn zijn geweest.

A napi takarítás csak a beágyazásból és az esetleges törölköző és egyéb cserékből áll, a padló piszkos. A wi-fi rossz, gyenge, nem stabil. A reggelinél nagy a káosz, a kávé rossz és a meleg választható ételek sem finomak. Ha későn érkezel croissant és egyéb már nem jut.

We stayed 7 nights and ate in the restaurant every night. The food was good, but, unfortunately, as the menu did not vary except for the roast on the Sunday, we felt that choice was somewhat limited. Also, some of the food that was served was not very hot. It was as if it had been standing for some time before the waiting staff brought it out. We appreciate that the staff were busy, though.

We loved absolutely everything about Mason Arms. It is rare to fine such a charming and cozy place that also has spacious and comfortable rooms. It remains on of our favorite places we’ve ever stayed and we’ve been around!

This is such a gorgeous pub in a fabulous location! Our room was beautiful and we appreciated the touches of luxury. Fabulous breakfast. Helpful and friendly staff.

There was only one vegetarian meal on offer which is normally fine. On this occasion it was pasta with a romesco style sauce and garlic bread so not a very balanced meal and carb heavy. The vegi breakfast was superb though!

A beautiful pub in a fabulous location. The accommodation was spacious, well appointed, and had seating outside the room, in the grounds, which was a real bonus. There was a mini fridge with cold water and fresh milk, and complimentary beer, a big plus. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good too.

Veldig sjarmerende sted i den vakreste landsbyen. Vi hadde to middager der og det var nydelig mat. Beste havabboren jeg har spist på lang tid. Veldig flott rullestenstrand.

Nothing not to like. My memory of how it was a long time back was of vibrant bar atmosphere. The bar now is small and fine for getting drinks on terrace but on my visits to the bar there was a queue and one person serving could not possibly prevent a wait. It’s not a major criticism as clearly the want restaurant trade and excel at this- Top marks!! - but it’s not a bar atmosphere anymore which personally is a bit of a shame but will appeal to all who want to be in quality surroundings and shun ‘bars with atmosphere’

Bellissimo, albergo curato in ogni dettaglio. Cibo buonissimo, personale gentile e disponibile . In un piccolo paesino delizioso vicino alle scogliere e a una spiaggia bellissima.

Schitterende kamer in het oudste deel van het hotel. Was in het echt nog mooier dan op foto's. Zeer ruime kamer en zeer ruime badkamer; met inloopdouche ! Wat wij veel liever hebben dan een bad met daarin een wand om te kunnen douchen. Goede dinerkaart en zeer lekker ontbijt.

The Masons arms was very friendly place with a very relaxed atmosphere, it’s in a very pretty village, although you access it down some very narrow lanes, but worth it when you get there because of the staff. It’s a good location to explore the area ( once you get out of the narrow lanes)

The parking at times could be an issue if you are a resident and go out for the day. The Masons Arms is very popular with diners who are none residents and so the car park becomes very full.

To start with, there was a special office for Reception (unlike most pubs, where you have to check in a the bar), where we were greeted and and shown around by a very friendly and helpful lady. Our room was beautiful, and having a terrace outside was an unexpected bonus, especially during the heatwave. We loved the walk down to the beach, along a woodland path and the pub and village are very pretty. Dinner and breakfast were fine - no complaints.

Everything was utterly perfect; supremely comfortable bed and loved the high quality linen and towels.

This was our second stay at the Mason Arms as we adore its location in the historic village of Branscombe, close to the sea, full of history and in the middle of beautiful nature. The rooms are clean and beautifully decorated, so cozy that we booked two nights this time, just so we can spend more time in our room and on the terrace with its stunning views. The Mason Arms restaurant and Pub has very nice food, loads of atmosphere and an excellent vegan nutroast on Sunday. When we arrived, we were greeted very warmly. All staff were more than friendly.

The staff were really friendly, the pub is delightful and the room very spacious, clean and comfortable. The food was all very good and the pub is in an amazing location with a beautiful walk to the beach, just great, we hope to return one day.

Reading light by the bed! The lighting was rather low for reading, but apart from that the bed was super comfortable and we slept really well.

We enjoyed our Friday night stay so much, we came back for a 2nd night. However, more bar staff are needed (Saturday night) and communication between the bar and restaurant team could be improved. All in all, we enjoyed the ambience, our meals & the lovely hotel. (Shame our last minute/late night check-in meant a mix up over dinner & there wasn’t any milk in our fridge for tea in the morning, but we were grateful to be able to stay again.)

Lovely secluded location. Room and terrace overlooking the valley excellent. Staff variable. Our dinner order got lost so very frustrating. We were compensated for the wait but still annoying. Breakfast needs an upgrade with much more fruit. Bread from the packet! Toaster either didn’t toast or burnt….
