Reviewed Mar 25, 2026The beds are comfortable and there are curtains, the kitchen is well equipped, the volunteering staff were nice, and the cat Chuchoca is cute. There are some card games available, and free tea and coffee.
The light doesn't work in one of the showers, and in another one, part of the shower is broken. The rooms are freezing cold, the pans in the kitchen are broken, and the owner could have been nicer, I only turned on the heating because it was so cold and she came yelling at me "don't touch".

Reviewed Feb 28, 2026Excelente ubicación, la habitación sencilla pero con todo lo necesario para descansar adecuadamente. Y destacar que del alojamiento tuvieron la gentileza de facilitarme ducha antes del check-in después de llegar de mi viaje nocturno desde Santiago.
El único detalle es que el enchufe quedaba lejos de la cama como para cargar el celular

Reviewed Feb 26, 2026Lähellä keskustaa, henkilökunta oli hyvin palvelualtista ja kuunteli kysymykset. Kierrätyksestä lisäpisteet. Yhteiset tilat olivat viihtyisät.
Huone tuntui melko ahtaalta mutta ei kuitenkaan toimimaton. Ikkuna oli jäänyt yöksi auki joten tuli vähän viileä mutta kun löysimme syyn niin tuli lämpimämpi.

La chambre est petite et vraiment pas insonorisé. J'entends les ronflements de la chambre à côté et les gens parler. Pas de fenêtre, humide. Les lieux communs ne sont pas propice à la détente. A besoin d'une sérieuse rénovation.

Considerando las características de un hostal, donde se comparten espacios con otras personas, se debe tener tolerancia a ciertas costumbres que pueden incomodar (gente que deja desordenado, o sucio en espacios como cocina), entendiendo que no es responsabilidad de las personas en recepción estar recogiendo las cosas de lxs pasajerxs.

En hotel está muy bien. Algunos viajeros no se dan cuenta de que hay más gente utilizando la cocina y no limpian su parte. Pero esto las que llevan en hostal no lo pueden remediar.

Reviewed Nov 27, 2025A very helpful owner and staff. The owner had great advice on where to visit, including a great penguin tour that I took on my last day. The room was also good, with a private bath. The common area was spacious too.
I can't think of anything that I did not like. I would definitely stay here should I ever visit Castro again. I highly recommend.

Reviewed Feb 19, 2025I really like this place, well located, friendly staff, clean, didn't actually end up cooking whilst there but kitchen did seem well equipped, and tea / coffee available, when I first arrived there was also real coffee and not just instant which was a very welcome bonus, not sure if that's a permanent thing but was very nice. I booked the same place when I returned to Castro for another night a little later on without even considering another. Beds have curtains, bathrooms decent with nice showers, pressure and temperature, nice communal space, has lockers available
Very minor point but the curtains on the beds are a bit thin and slightly translucent, but still much better than not having them

I had a bed next to the street, it wasn't possible to fully block the sunlight and street lamp light using the curtains. The room door was difficult to close, it opened from time to time. Also locker doors.

I don't know, not awful or anything... I booked this because the reviews made me think they spoke English. When I arrived I was stressed because I'd just picked up a hire car and wasn't used to driving on the right instead of left, I'n a car I wasn't used to , in a new city. I'd parked In a place you weren't supposed to. Guy on reception said he would prefer to speak.spanish even though he spoke English. Added to my stress as I just suddenly forgot all my Spanish. Then girl came along who spoke English but she kept going on about how stressed I was which made me worse and when I was writing down door code and room number she asked me why I couldn't remember . I'm 57, perhaps I should just stay In hotels where they treat you as the customer instead of hostels where they can sometimes treat you like you're in school telling you all.the rules . This one anyway . But the room was fine

I think their can be more done to maintain the property! Especially the kitchen. Horrible hygiëne. To small for all the People but we managed to cook. The bathrooms can need cleans daily and more often than that. The rubbish bin were mostly more than 24h full. It would be good to have a shower mat too..other than that i had a good stay

Reviewed May 1, 2023Probably one of my best stay in Chile! You feel immediately like at home, in a big beautiful house with everything you need: full equipment kitchen and big and cozy living room. The location is perfect, few meters from a nice bakery, restaurants, cafe, bars, banks, supermarkets, well everything you need. Castro is also a nice city, cool vibe. Big up to the owner, she’s super friendly and welcoming, and all the volunteers. :) I miss already this place! I was supposed to stay 3/4 nights and I stayed there 8 nights. <3
