Really liked the atmosphere, the staff with the incredible Hau that helped me with everything. It is a magical place with a lot of optimistic quotes and incredible aura. Really recommend it.

L extrême gentillesse de Vinh et de son personnel. Nous avons passé une très agreable journée en excursion à Pu luong avec Vinh qui est pleine d énergie. Nous avons gouté à sa cuisine, mets locaux très bons. Vu la chaleur elle a veillé à remplir la piscine pour que nous puissions nous rafraîchir.

L'extrême gentillesse de Vinh et de son personnel. Nous avons passé une journée très agréable avec Vinh qui était notre guide lors d'une excursion à Pu Luong. Très bonne cuisine locale. Vu la chaleur, Vinh a rempli la piscine pour que l'on puise s'y baigner.

The owner is a wonderful warm hearted woman. The manager is the most helpful young man you could wish for. The food is great. Even the dog is friendly 😊 I was sad to say goodbye.

This was a dream! The family looking after us were so lovely and kind. We felt truly cared for. Very welcoming, food was incredible. Service was second to none. We even got food poisoning from a different restaurant and they gave us bread and drinks for free to help us. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Free bikes to rent also!

מקום מעולה!!! היפ שעובד שם נחמד מאוד, אוהב ישראלים, עזר לנו בכל מה שהיינו צריכים והוא אפילו יודע עברית! מיקום מעולה ושקט, יכלנו להשאיל בחינם אופניים ולהסתובב איתם בשדות האורז. אוכל טעים מאוד במסעדה, פשוט כל מה שהיינו צריכים לשהייה רגועה וכיפית.

The family is very warm and welcoming. The son of the family helped us find a place to rent motorbikes and also gave us a list of things to do in the area. We had dinner and breakfast at their place. I really enjoyed .You have to try the pancakes/crepes. They were very good. He also helped us find a minibus ride back to Hanoi at a pretty good price. I recommend staying here.

😀 The staff is very welcoming, honest, pleasant and ready to help with anything. Expectations must be adjusted. It is not a 5 star hotel nor a 3 star but the value for money for what you get is definitely worth every cent, and more than fair. The restaurant on site is also good, tasty and worth.

Ubytování bylo velmi příjemné, snídaně výborná a majitel byl velmi milý. Můžeme jen doporučit. Byli jsme tu jednu noc při naší cestě po severním Vietnamu.

Room was spacious... bathroom was clean. Ngiep or Diep (the manager) is a amazing dude. He helped us with everything... even late at night when he was already in bed. Amazing dude. Hostel has a great vibe and the owners she is also hilarious! There is a super cute dog... a rescue dog.. loves cuddles and giving paws. Deffo will be back.

The pool was empty... but we are at the end of winter... so thats probably why. No stress.. waterfall nearby.

Wir hatten hier einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt und haben um einen Tag verlängert, weil es uns so gut gefallen hat! Das Essen inkl. Frühstück war hervorragend, große Portionen. Fahrräder wurden uns kostenlos zur Verfügung gestellt und für den nächsten Tag hatte uns Hiep für eine Tour einen Fahrer organisiert. - Hiep ist ein sehr guter Manager, sehr zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Wir fühlten sehr willkommen und empfehlen das Homestay uneingeschränkt weiter! Lieben Dank an alle für die schöne Zeit in Mai Chau!

The staff were amazing from the moment we arrived. They were welcoming, helpful, and gave us great recommendations for many places around the area. They also helped us arrange transportation whenever we needed a driver or taxi, always at very reasonable and fair prices. Breakfast was good – a basic selection but well made. The hotel restaurant itself is actually very good and definitely recommended even beyond breakfast. We found ourselves coming back to eat there again before the end of our stay. The rooms are standard and perfectly fine. The shower has hot water – it takes a few minutes to heat up, but once it does, it’s excellent. And we have to mention Gold – the sweetest dog ever! You absolutely have to meet him. Anyone who doesn’t is truly missing out.

The pool was closed due to the cold season, which is understandable. There was also a slightly unusual smell in some of the rooms, depending on the room, but it usually fades or improves.

אחרי כמה ימים הארכנו אפילו בעוד לילה, היה פשוט מקום מקסים ונעים שממש נתן לנו תחושה של בית (ממליצים לישראליים בחום). קיבלנו הרבה אהבה וחיוכים מהמארחת והצוות. המסעדה עם אוכל מצויין במחיר טוב. מקבלים בכל בוקר ארוחה טובה וקפה מצויין! ישר כשהגענו שלחו לנו את כל נקודות העניין באיזור (מפלים, מסעדות, השכרת אופנוע ועוד ועוד) היה לנו עץ לונגן (כמו ליצ׳י) ממש ליד החדר ויכלנו לקטוף את הפירות מתי שרק רצינו בשפע וזה היה ממש כיף. חמש דקות הליכה ומגיעים לשדות אורז היפהפיים ולעוד מסעדה מקומית מצויינת. המארחת עזרה לנו בכל מה שהיינו צריכים (למשל, היא יצרה קשר עם חברת ההסעות וארגנה לנו שהם יגיעו לאסוף אותנו ישר מהמקום במקום מהתחנה שנקבעה בכרטיס שהזמנו)

Vinh y todo el grupo del Hakuna Matata nos atendieron con mucha amabilidad, nos ayudaron con todo lo que necesitábamos y se mostraron siempre muy cercanos y amigables. Las habitaciones son limpias, las camas cómodas, y la comida que sirven está muy rica. Muy recomendable, gracias por todo!

Un excellent accueil dans cet homestay situé dans la ville, hors quartier touristique. Les chambres sont sommaires mais très correctes. La cuisine est excellente. Le manager Hiep nous a été d’une grande aide, toujours disponible pour répondre à nos demandes. La nature environnante, une splendeur, à découvrir en vélo prêtés gratuitement par l’homestay. Fortement conseillé

ואוו היה מושלם, וין ממש מתוקה וממש דאגה לי להכל, דיברה שיחקה וצחקה איתי, הרגשתי כמעט כמו בבית, היא שלחה לי קישורים איפה כדאי לטייל באיזור ונתנה לי אופניים לטייל וגם יש לה כלב ממש ממש מתוק, ההומסטי באיזור מרכזי יש סופר 5 דקות הליכה משם, יודעת מה זה כשר ויש לה אפשרות לאוכל צמחוני❤️

I originally booked just one night, but ended up staying three. Vinh is truly the best host we’ve ever had. She took such amazing care of us – from helping plan our trip with local tips, to offering so much support and kindness when I wasn’t feeling well. The homestay itself is very peaceful, and the food is great.

The rooms are good and the food as well. Vinh (the host) is amazing and so helpful. She organized two days for our group packed with activities and she took the time to be our private tour guide for one trip. She really does everything in her power to make sure your experience in Mai Châu is wonderful! Definitely recommend staying at Hakuna Matata!

Vinh is the kindest most loving host, there is not one bad thing to say about her as well as hip and trang and the rest of the staff. The rooms were clean and spacious and you can borrow bikes for free for the day.

Wow this is the best hostel we’ve ever been to, the rooms are amazing and the food is good, and there are some sweet dogs:) but the best part is the people who work in there, so nice and really helped us with everything! Love this place and planing to go back

Genuinely the nicest people running the homestay! They were super helpful and always making sure we had everything we need, and remembered all of our names! Really impressed with this place and Mai Chau is so so beautiful. If you’re looking for a cosy place to stay with great food please stay here :)

The staff here went above and beyond and made me and my friends feel at home. The beds were comfy and the breakfast was a nice way to start the day. Would definitely recommend staying here.

The place was very cozy, felt like home. I arrived before 2:00 PM, the room was ready and they gave me the key. The room was clean, cozy. The breakfast was simple but definitely sufficient. There is a table with hot tea, iced tea, coffee and water for free use all day. There is a restaurant on site and people also come to eat there from outside. The homestay is in a central location in the town and you can walk to the rice fields. There are bicycles on site. The staff is great.

Vinh and her family made this place very special. Vinh uses locally sourced organic fruits and vegetables for her restaurant, and has lots of vegan options. There is always freshly-brewed ginger tea available. There is free use of bicycles, and she knows all the best routes to ride to the surrounding villages. She is very efficient in making whatever travel arrangements you require, even with special requests, such as front seat for someone who has motion sickness. There are a couple of guitars to play around with, and the two dogs are friendly, happy, and healthy.

Even though the building is older and the rooms are dark, they are clean and the beds are super comfortable.

Facilities could be slightly better but nothing detrimental was bad

Everything was just perfect! Food was fresh and delicious. Even other travellers from other homestays came to eat dinner over there. Rooms were nice, clean and comfortable. There was everything you need. We felt like we were part of the family. If we needed any help with scooter rental, with transport or advise about different tourist attractions, then we got maximum help and support plus very good prices. After we moved to the new location the owner was still willing to help us with information and support we later needed. Thanks so much for the kind heart and the help you gave us!!!

This is the ideal home stay for meeting people as a solo traveler. Not only is it an incredibly friendly, welcoming atmosphere but the staff themselves will get to know you. Vinh, the host, is a gem. I booked a tour with her and it was like spending the day with a good friend. She also helped arrange transportation and patiently helped other travelers with their itineraries, even beyond their time in Mai Chu. For a 35 solo traveler who wanted a social environment without rowdy partying, this was perfect. The space itself was nice, the location convenient…I recommended it to other travelers.

Super nice owner! We travelled by bicycle and she gave us a lot of recommendations, water for the way and even bananas from her families farm. The room was very cozy and clean. Food was good and a l ot of vegetarian/vegan options. The Rooftop is a Highlight. Breakfast in the morning with that view was great!

Homestay is more than staying at the home of the hoist but being treated like a family member. Vinh is a strong and wonderful woman who runs the Hakuna Matata Homestay in Mai Chau. Before I came, she organized the transportation and arranged a two days tour for me. Everything was so well organized that I didn't have to worry about anything. The room is very spacious and clean. As a city person in Asia, I need not worry about the air-conditioning, WiFi, everything worked very well. Upon arrival, Vinh showed me the beautiful area nearby. With the bikes they provided, cycling around the rice fields were really awesome. The meals cooked by Huang were terrific and tasty. They were so family-meals and made me recall the meals cooked by my family when I was a kid. The tours arranged by Vinh to the Mai Chau waterfalls and Pu Luong were great. The trips were by motorbike and the experience were great. All in all, Vinh runs the homestay so well with her family and staff. Great hospitality, spontaneous, hazzle free, family-like relationship with the guests. They set a good standard for Homestay 😄🥰

Super friendly accomodating staff and delicious home cooked meals. The rooms were spacious and clean with good dark curtains so could sleep well.

Property was in a perfect location, close to country side and the town. It was clean, good shower and good Wi-Fi. The host was extremely friendly and so helpful.

Bed was a bit hard and a few dogs barking at night but I wouldn’t let this put you off staying here!

Amazing place! I highly recommend staying at Hakuna Mata. Vinh is an amazing host and truly cares about her visitors. She even cooked a special meal for the Israeli guests that were staying here and it was delicious. I got food poisoning from another restaurant in town, and had to extend my stay to recover. Vinh went to the pharmacy to get electrolytes for me, and she cooked a special chicken soup. I am very grateful for her hospitality and have loved my time staying here. The bed is comfortable, the rooms are clean, the bathrooms smell good, and there is tea and coffee all day. Mai Chau is a beautiful little town with a lot to explore. If you visit Mai Chau, choose Hakuna Mata.

Everything!! Specially the host, Vinh, she was amazing, treated us like family since the moment we arrived. The location is superb and the place is beautiful. Vinh gave us tips for all the attractions around the area and we were lucky to be able to spend some time with her chatting. She is one of the kindest persons we have ever met and she made our stay in Mai Châu one of the best experiences. We encourage everyone visiting the area to stay in Hakuna Matata, you cannot miss it!!

The hostess was super friendly and could speak English really well. We could choose our room and order a softer mattress. As we arrived at western new years eve we could join her family for lunch and dinner, which was awesome authentic and delicious. Thanks again for the unforgettable time.

Vinh was an exceptional host who went above and beyond for her guests. We chose her homestay as a base to explore the area, and she gave great advice on hiring motorbikes and places to visit on a self guided tour. When we had a problem on our trip, she helped us resolve it and checked in with us on the next leg of our trip. Highly recommended homestay.

The mattress was a bit firm for my taste, but maybe I'm just getting old!
