Gite Azilane is a family home in a remote village in the Rif mountains, which will give you an authentic experience of rural life in this area. Ibrahim and his family are wonderful caring hosts and make you feel completely at home. An added highlight was the musical entertainment in the evening by a family friend who played beautiful music on the hajhouj.

Gîte simple et rustique, loin du confort d’un hôtel classique, mais c’est justement ce qui fait tout son charme. Accueil chaleureux, cadre superbe et vraie sensation d’être hors des sentiers battus. J’y ai particulièrement apprécié de pouvoir partir directement pour un trail jusqu’au Jbel Jâmiʿ al-ʿAbbâd, à près de 2 100 m d’altitude. Paysages magnifiques, sentiers sauvages et personne!. Une excellente expérience pour qui aime la montagne, l’authenticité et les lieux isolés.

Reaching the site with a non 4x4 vehicle could be challenging

Ibrahim who runs the gite is such a lovely person, as are the rest of the team at Gite Azilane. The food was delicious and plentiful. The location, in a small mountain village looking across the hills and mountains, is spectacular. The Gite was our night stop on a 2 day hike, Chefchaouen to Azilane, Azilane to Akchour. Ibrahim and Fatima at Eco Rando Chefchaouen gave us the information to tackle this hike without a guide, it was fabulous, but steep and difficult to find the trail in places. If you’re a keen hiker, we’d recommend it, and the overnight at Gite Azilane. Thanks so much Ibrahim. Ben & Will

Initially the Gite didn’t respond to questions, but once we made contact, the info came quickly and was good.

We had an amazing stay with Ibrahim and his family and friends. They were so generous, friendly and welcoming us as part of their family so we really felt at home. We were sitting long in evening with them talking about any and everything. The food was amazing, the service was amazing. He is also an excellent guide in the mountains, he gave us tips, planned hikes with us and suggested several trails. He also organizes different activities from hiking, to camping to cooking courses, you just need to ask about it. He was also so kind to take us to Chefchaouen and stored the luggage at his friends so we can visit to Akchour light. We will definitely come back.

L'expérience d'une nuitée en gîte de montagne au Maroc. L'environnement nature, montagneux rend le lieu paisible. Le très bon accueil du personnel et conseils. La cuisine savoureuse. Les moments partagés avec les autres randonneurs.

Wat een prachtig mooie locatie was dit! Ibrahim is een geweldige gastheer. De keuken was superlekker. En zo'n mooie streek. Het uitzicht op het terras is magnifiek. We komen er zeker terug!

L accueil est tres sympathique, tres bonne soirée au gîte, le repas et le déjeuner étaient tres bons et copieux.

Das Gite ist extrem abgelegen gelegen, aber die Absprache zur Anreise per Telefon mit dem Besitzer war super einfach. Wir wurden problemlos am Campingplatz in Chefchouen eingesammelt und dorthin gebracht. Der extrem freundliche und lustige Koch empfang uns mit frischem Tee und Gebäck, welches wir mit einer fantastischen Aussicht auf Bauern, ihre Tiere und die zerklüfteten Berge genossen. sowohl Abendessen als auch Frühstück waren ausgiebig und sehr lecker, zu einer flexiblen, von uns gewünschten Uhrzeit. Auch ein Tee am Abend war kein Problem. Das Zimmer war gemütlich, die Betten warm. Die Dusche und das WC werden mit der Handvoll anderen Gästen geteilt, waren aber immer sauber. Achtung: eigene Handtücher mitbringen! Wir wanderten von dort zu den Wasserfällen in Akchour, wofür wir 6h brauchten. Von dort nahmen wir ein Sanmeltaxi für 25 Dirham pro Person zurück nach Chefchouen. Volle Empfehlung, wenn man mal das traditionelle Leben der Cannabisbauern in den Bergen sehen möchte.

We loved it here!! After a day trekking we arrive here and we enjoyed the terrace! Breakfast and dinner were the best we had during our holidays. Shower and room are comfortable! We would definitely recommend!

N'hésitez pas à téléphoner à Ibrahim de chefchaouen ou d akchour pour plus de précisions sur la route et surtout si vous avez une petite voiture.

The location is inaccesible by car without a 4x4, we were not warned about this. The host tried to charge us 700 MAD for transport. We ended up staying somewhere else despite not receiving a refund.

Fantastic location, very much off the beaten track, in the midst of nature and local agriculture. Expect peace & quietness, great views, and very friendly staff.

Comfort and cleanliness levels are basic, but adequate - given the remote location. Be prepared for adrenaline during access travel. HIRE THE LOCAL DRIVER, don't go with a normal rental car!

The location is fantastic and views wonderful. The welcome was great and we had tea and cake on the terrace. The evening meal with other guests was also very good, together with the breakfast the following morning.

Difficult to get to on a bicycle

We actually stayed at Gite Affaska which suited us fine and Ibrahim organised this. At Afaska Gite the location is superb, the hostess Saida was great, very kind spoke good French English and the food was exceptionally good

Dette var andre gang jeg besøkte Azilane i år, og jeg ønsker å komme tilbake en tredje gang. Stedet ligger i fantastisk natur,med mange turmuligheter.Soverommet er helt greit og stuen og sittegruppene ute på terrassen har en fantastisk utsikt.Kokken er svært service innstilt og lager meget god mat. Eier er også svært service innstilt og gjør alt for at du skal få et godt opphold.

What I expected. An authentic auberge in the Rif mountains near Chefchaouen. Good food. Very friendly host. Not for the one who looks for a 5 star hotel. A basic auberge. I will come back!

Ayoub et sa famille ont été aux petits soins: super goûter d’accueil, très bon dîner et petit déjeuner extra. Il y avait de l’eau chaude (douche et lavabo). Tout était très propre et la literie bonne pour un gîte. Nous avons bien profité de la terrasse vue sur montagne, ensoleillée jusqu’à 16h30 en plein mois de décembre. On recommande !

Lovely stay in a really incredible place. The family give you a peak into Moroccan life and they are very respectful of having fun, providing all the info and bits you need, enough space for yourself and your thoughts. Really amazing food cooked for you and walks very nice. Even hot water right up in the mountains

Amazing location, Amazing views, amazing staff. I wanted a real getaway and Gite de Montagne Azilane was perfect. From the cosy and clean rooms to the friendly and very hospitable staff. Chef Ayoub cooked a beautiful breakfast and a vast delicious dinner. Brahim was a gentlemen and really made the effort to make me feel at home....ill definitely be coming back. Highly recommend. Thanks guys

Het typische, de ligging, gezellig ingericht, het warme onthaal! Het was een basic verblijf, maar beviel ons zo goed na een lange stapdag! We hadden alles wat we nodig hadden! En zeker ook nog te vermelden het lekkere avondmaal en -ontbijt dat in de prijs inbegrepen was! Voortreffelijk! We kregen ook goede tips voor onze volgende stapdag.

La nourriture était délicieuse et copieuse. Nous ne nous attendions pas à manger des tajines aussi bon et aussi généreux. Ibrahim est adorable, tout comme sa famille. Notre guide, Ayoub, le neveu d’Ibrahim, est originaire de la région. Il nous a préparé un très joli parcours selon nos préférences de randonnée : lac, forêt, vallée… Puis nous nous sommes arrêtés chez sa famille pour une pause thé accompagnée de rghayef, d’œufs, d’olives, etc. La vue était magnifique, on se sentait complètement coupés du monde. C’est un endroit calme, reposant et authentique, une véritable immersion chez l’habitant.

Le trajet est difficile d’accès, il faut un 4x4. Ibrahim propose un service de prise en charge de Chefchaouen. La vue du gîte en vaut le détour

Ayoub est extrêmement gentil. Il nous a fait un superbe accueil. Ayoub est un excellent cuisinier, le meilleur tajine au poulet de notre voyage. Il a une joie communicative qui a rendu notre séjour vraiment très sympa.

Our stay at Gîte de Montagne Azilane was unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family. Ibrahim, the owner, is incredibly kind and attentive—he truly makes you feel at home and ensures everything is perfect. The food was exceptional. Thanks to Ayoub, the talented chef, every meal was delicious, generous, and full of local flavour. The portions are big, and every dish feels homemade with love. A special mention to Mohamed, who seems to do everything—from keeping the place spotless to guiding us on beautiful walks around the area. His energy and friendliness add so much to the experience. The view is absolutely spectacular, with the mountains surrounding you in peaceful silence. It’s the perfect place to relax and reconnect with nature. We left feeling like we were part of a family. If you’re looking for authenticity, warmth, and breathtaking scenery, Gîte de Montagne Azilane is the place to go. Highly recommended!

Arriver à Azilane se mérite, des paysages à couper le souffle, le rif authentique. Ibrahim le propriétaire, nous a conduit avec son 4X4 au travers du Rif sur la piste, l'accueil et le séjour dans le gite à été fabuleux. Le repas et petit déjeuner délicieux et variés. Le calme et la vue depuis la terrasse sont indescriptibles, surtout le ciel étoilé dans l'obscurité totale

Everthing, we hiked from chefchaouen to azilane and we were friendly welcomed with cold water, tea and cakes. Also in the evening the dinner was amazing and a lot of food, same for the breakfast. The rooftop is very nice to chill after the hike

We never got to the gite ! After payment we discovered this place can only be reached by a 4WD, on foot, or a mule ! After hair raising 3 km on the track we turned around. The owner rather aggressively said he would pick us up for 70€ return . A refund was refused. The issue of access is not mentioned on the site.

Les propriétaires (Djameldin et Othmane) très conviviaux. La piscine un chouia fraiche mais très plaisante. L ambiance de ferme (poules, chien, oies...) avec le confort souhaité. L emplacement en dehors de Azrou mais à quelques minutes en voiture.

The shower was hard to control (either cold or burning hot).

It is a unique place. Atmospheric and pleasant. The owners are very friendly and helpful. At every step the guests were satisfied. Helpful and nice neighbors, to whom we accidentally ate dinner 😉 The hotel may not have 5 stars, but the place and views reward the stay.

Incredible food and hospitality

We absolutely loved our stay in Azilane! The location in the tiny mountain village offers the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy the pure nature! The owner Ibrahim and the gîte’s manager Ayoub are both extremely friendly and welcoming. Ayoub took great care of us and served his amazing food every day! Most of the ingredients are grown locally with is represented in the great taste. Especially the Moroccon breakfast with view on the mountains and the rising sun was a highlight! He also organized a guide for a hiking trip for us. Therefore, our stay in the mountains was perfect and we felt welcomed by the whole community and the beautiful nature. Thank you very much for this amazing experience! We will definitely come back!

Starting the day with the breakfast that was provided at Azilane was absolutely the right start to our day. They provided honey, strawberry berry and several other local products. It was my favorite part of my day!

We loved everything about the property.

Wonderful spot to spend the night! We arrived with a taxi-jeep and had such a warm welcome by the staff with a beautiful view from both terraces and our room. Away from city life, you instantly calm down and appreciate this village life in the mountains. Service was excellent, food was great, we got a hot (bucket) shower and warm blankets for the colder night up there. The next day we could hike through the national park and the staff had made us a lunch package. Would definitely recommend!

We are from the US and China. This is a fantastic place to stay for a night or longer. The food is authentic and wonderful Moroccan cuisine. It is wonderful to hike in & out, and very relaxing to stay for a day or two. The setting is beautiful and peaceful. The fantastic staff is friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended!!

If you're a nature lover looking to escape the daily grind, immerse yourself in the beauty of the Rif Mountains, savor delicious local food, and experience true Moroccan hospitality, then this is the place for you. In today's world of homogenized attractions, finding a homestay that offers a taste of real life is priceless. I highly recommend staying with Ibrahim for more than a day. There are many trails to explore, like SFIHA TELJ, or you can take a scenic walk to the next village. Ibrahim can guide you or provide information and advice about treks in the area. The charming house boasts a magnificent view from the terrace. The food, homemade and some of the best we tried in Morocco, included freshly baked bread, cookies, and tajines.
