Reviewed Aug 29, 2026A wonderful place where we felt completely at home We absolutely loved our stay at The Old School! The accommodation was modern, spotlessly clean, comfortable and extremely well designed. Everything had been carefully thought out, and we immediately felt at home. Mari gave us a very warm welcome and shared lots of excellent advice about the area. She even baked us a delicious homemade seed bread, which was such a lovely touch and greatly appreciated. A fantastic place to stay near Lough Ree that we would highly recommend!

Reviewed Nov 2, 2025The old school house was a real home away from home. We used the accommodation whilst visiting family nearby and would definitely recommend and reuse again in the future. The building has been restored to a very high standard and the cosy fire every evening was wonderful to snuggle down with a movie. We all slept well and awoke to lovely sunrises over Lough Ree. Nearby walks and swim at Judy’s harbour were an added bonus. Marie was very welcoming and available for any additional needs- and the brown bread on arrival was delicious.

Reviewed Aug 18, 2024In 20 odd years of going to multiple Booking.com accommodations in multiple countries this was one of the best if not THE best total accommodation experiences we have ever had. The hosts, the accommodation, the environment, the views... everything was "blow your mind stuff".
Not a single thing. Even if we wanted to and tried very hard to think of a negative it would not be possible to fault anything for the duration of our stay.

The property is a tastefully restored artisan building remaining true to its original features and has a comfortable feeling all round. Marie and John are fantastic hosts and wonderful to deal with. An amazing property and we couldn’t recommend it highly enough.
