It is snazzy inside but that’s where it ended I’m afraid.

When we arrived we were asked to pay more money. They said we owed a balance but I had paid it days before. The gentleman that I spoke to there was very nice, but said he would have to contact someone as the price could not be correct. I did show him my booking etc. so for me my contract was with booking.com. I messaged booking .com as I was concerned they never hit back to me. We were lucky to park as virtually no parking there. No option for breakfast as they have stopped doing it. So we had to go elsewhere for food on two mornings. The room was not serviced have never stayed in five star and not had tea tray replenished or bed made? When we came down to leave absolutely no staff in sight. It’s a very strange set up to say the least. We didn’t hear anymore about the payment from the hotel not even a courtesy note to tell us that everything was fine, if I had paid the full amount that they stayed we owed(even though we didn’t I would have been very disappointed). Five star? No 3!

We didn’t eat at the property, the location was great.

The room was dirty and dusty with cobwebs everywhere on the inside of the windows, there was glass on the floor, the towels and robes were crispy and hard, no water pressure to take a reasonable shower or bath, coffee, tea and milk not stocked up, no soap in the bathroom. Definitely not a 5star.

Situated on Epping High Street but with a car park to the rear, the place has a great feel to it. The room we stayed on made the most of the original layout of the building and managed to include private bathroom which was small but absolutely fine

We booked a deluxe double room. Although the room was comfortable enough, it was very small with plugs in the wrong places for any real purpose. The rain shower in the room lacked any pressure and appeared broken.

İt was unique. A lot of character

The bathroom and sink was dirty. I could see the dirt inside the holes and the bathroom glass door didnt shut all of the water was going outside.

Has its own quirky, but lively style. Staff were excellent and the food in the restaurant was fabulous.

On a high street Nice food in the restaurant

An utterly odd experience. The room was apparently an upgraded room, however it was very small with one tiny frosted window and so no daylight. If that was an upgrade I'd have been very upset with whatever space I was meant to have. I was told the restaurant was shutting at 9pm that evening, but I had a table booked at 8:45pm. I was happy to eat sooner though, so I did. The restaurant looks great and the menu was brilliant. Just after getting my food, a girl came in to sit with a staff member. She was incredibly upset and shouting and crying about some "fat c*nts" who had upset her. This continued for the duration of my meal and made me really on edge. The staff member to whom she was crying did nothing to take her away from the one customer they had, which surprised me. In the morning the cleaners knocked on my door at 11 asking me when I was leaving and why I was still there as they need to clean the room. Checkout is clearly listed as 12pm on my booking. I gathered my stuff and left quickly, only to find no one downstairs at all and the reception area locked. I had to leave my key with a chef after calling into the kitchen through an open side door. All in all not great and disappointing.

The pillows were like smoke shaped like a pillow. You put your head on them and they vanish.

The hotel is very quirky with a mix of old (beam cottage feel) and modern decor! It’s clean and has everything you need including a mini bar. The weather was nice when we went and they have a lovely outside space.

In the weekend so on Friday and Saturday evening it turns into a club no mention of that anywhere sleeping is impossible until like 1.30am then we switched hotels like a day earlier because we couldn’t stay there for another night

Great place, really nice. The decorations were really good and felt very premium. The staff was accommodating and good. Great restaurant but a little pricey.

The sheets on the bed were not the cleanest. There were stains, washed blood, and makeup. The sheets had been washed, but the marks remained, and the blood stains were a worry. The staff did give new sheets to change when I did go down and ask, but the new sheets also had stains and had not been bleached and were tinted.

Good location. Air con in the room worked well.

The room was dirty, some surfaces covered in dust. The toiletries in the shower had all run out. The noise on the Friday night was horrendous in our room above the PA system - very loud & till 1 am.

This is the 2nd time I have stayed. Again, the staff were both friendly and attentive. We had dinner outside and it was lovely. The food was delicious.

Beautiful hotel in perfect location for work stay. Comfortable, warm welcome and modern. Really liked the hotel and staff were amazing. Short trip this time but perfect location.

Breakfast start time late for business travellers. A continental coffee/ fruit option would have been great. No coffee in room but I didn’t ask and am sure that would have been resolved if I had.

The staff were so lovely, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic quality, piping hot (you’d be surprised how many hotels can’t serve a hot plate of food) and the service was perfect.

On arrival, I had to call the hotel and they had to move a car to provide me with a pre-booked parking space. I was staying to attend a local funeral and the delay in getting parked meant that I was then running late. Check-in was seamless and very friendly and if I didn’t have all the other points to raise, I actually wouldn’t mention it. The fridge was noisy all through the night, there was another fan noise running through the night, I tried turning the bathroom fan on and off, the air con, I have no idea where it was coming from but it was loud. The bathroom had been cleaned well but the shower had an awful musty smell. The mirror in the room was in the wrong place making it hard to blow dry my hair. (I’d swap the mirror and the picture to opposite sides to solve this) It looked as though there used to be a full length mirror that had been smashed and not replaced so it was just a framed black board. Replacing the mirror may help. Although I was warned at the point of booking and when I arrived that there was a band and I may hear some music, I wasn’t expecting the whole room to vibrate with the bass. I had noise cancelling ear buds in but it was sooooo loud. If I was staying at the hotel to enjoy the facilities it would have been great and I’d have been downstairs dancing, but I came back to the room at around 10 hoping to sleep at some point before midnight and it wasn’t possible. I actually said to the guy that showed me to my room that I’m not a complainer, and yet here I am. I paid a lot of money for the room, had it been a lot less money I wouldn’t be so fussy, but at £235 for the night and an extra £15 for breakfast (including early check in and a parking space) it definitely wasn’t good value for money.

This was a unique experience. Quality bedding and towels. The bed was extremely comfortable. Lovely toiletries. Bath in the room was amazing. Plenty of hot water. Heating was very effective in the bedroom. Tele was great quality. Plenty of space to hang clothes. Good food in the restaurant. Staff were amazing .. sorted out parking (£15) and free drink on arrival. Carried our cases to the room. Explained about kitchen closing on a Sunday night at 6pm. If you like alcohol.. plenty of choice in the room fridge… but you pay for it of course.

The shower room was cold due to the single glazed window which was draughty. But we covered it with the dressing gowns and used the bath instead of the shower. Start the bath running 15minutes before you need it and it will fill slowly due to low water pressure. Once filled it’s amazing . There is a fridge with a blue light shining into the bed room.. we covered this whilst sleeping and it was not a problem.

Lovely bar, staff incredibly friendly. Room was aesthetically pleasing, fortunately got a free upgrade on our room which was nice.

The room we stayed in was freezing. Tried to use unit to warm up but did not work. Not to sound dramatic but it felt as if we were sleeping outside it was that cold.

Single pane window means everything outside sounds like its in your room. Massive rave downstairs. Honestly slept about 30 mins.

Simply outstanding customer service the staff and management team could have done more, beautiful rooms, great food, 100% will be staying with them again, highly recommended.

Road noise from bedroom. I forgot this from last time but the pillows are horrendous. My neck and shoulders have been in pain all day. I remember now this happening last time I stayed. Wish I'd remembered pre booking as I would have stayed elsewhere.

Loved our room, really comfy bed with quality duvet & pillows. Copper bath was a lovely touch to the room too. The whole place was beautiful, decor was amazing and all the little touches make it really special. Staff were also really lovely, and we had a great lunch in the restaurant. It is a little pricey but with all the detail and quality I’d say it’s worth it! Will definitely be back :)

We were told that we'd hear some noise on the Friday and Saturday night and that it would stop at 12.30. The music heard from our room was so incredibly loud that the furniture vibrated and glasses fell from the shelf - it was impossible to sleep - I went to complain on the first night as the music went beyond 12.30 , the second night it went in until 1 - I didn't bother complaining the 2nd night I just watched TV until it stopped. It was an expensive hotel that looked great but the noise was awful - the bathroom light wouldn't turn off and the bathroom fan didn't work - very disappointed

Fabulous quirky boutique hotel, helpful staff and great burger. Decor is amazing. Really great bathrooms very clean with all the amenities.

As people who live in rural villages, the road noise was quite loud. All 3 of our rooms over looked the High Street and the road noise was pretty consistent through the night and enough to wake me up very early.

The room was lovely, we had a really nice stay in the room we booked, It was very clean, very well maintained, it smelt excellent and clean when we walked in, the bed was very comfortable and the room it's self was superb. The bar area was maintained to a very high standard, It was very clean, smart and very well looked after. We were provided a welcome drink on check in. It is really easy to get to a tube station from the hotel it's a 10 minute walk through a lovely area so there is good travel links.

Unfortunately our stay was tarnished for a number of reasons, On arrival to the hotel we were greeted by staff who provided us with our welcome drink. My partner and I had barley sat down when a member of staff appeared with the card machine in his hand with £100 keyed in and instructed me to pay it, He was quite abrupt and I found him to be quite intimidating considering he didn't explain what it was for. He told me it was a "security deposit" and it would be refunded on checkout. The £100 was taken from my account as per the transaction, the member of staff had my bank card in his hand after that transaction completed, he then keyed in another transaction and took my bank card and tapped the top of the card machine without my permission! So he used my card for another transaction so I asked him "what are you doing" and took my bank card back I told him he didn't have permission to just use my bank card on another transaction, The reason he had my bank card was he removed it from the card machine after I'd paid the £100 security deposit I presumed he'd just give me it back not use it for a contactless payment. The second payment was £15 for parking which I wasn't happy about as this hotel advertises free parking so I wasn't happy for two reasons 1. That I was charged for over night parking and 2. and most importantly he used my bank card without permission to pay for the parking. Just to note on the parking there is only 3 available spaces to park at the hotel so if you check in later then you won't get a space so please bear this in mind if you're travelling to the hotel as on street parking charges. On check out I was told the £100 would be refunded to my account straight away, It took just under 6 weeks for my £100 to be returned to me after constant communication with hotel management, I was repeatedly told "it'll be with you soon" and it never was.
