Loch Maree Hotel

Pretty much everything, the setting, the comfort, dinner & bfast were lovely. But the big thing is the host -Duncan, he is everything good about customer service, professional, knowledgable, but also inviting and able to talk with you. The whole staff are to be commended. I had a great couple of days exploring as I drove the NC500.

Queen Victoria must have been a small queen as everything is scaled small. But that’s just architecture- no complaints.

Great location next to Loch Maree and on the North Coast 500. Room was small but nice with a great view.

The dinner was horrendous. The waitress was hopeless and kept getting orders wrong. My hot starters were still frozen. Our main was child portion sized and the salmon was under cooked. Bill was wrong. That said the breakfast was actually very good.

Unser Zimmer war praktisch und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Die Lage, direkt am See, ist sehr gut. Das Frühstück ist typisch schottisch und lecker. Wir haben zwei mal im Hotel zu Abend gegessen, es war ausgesprochen gut. Das Hotel weißt insgesamt eine gewisse Patina auf, uns hat es nicht gestört. Der Service war sympathisch und kompetent. Wir haben die familiäre Atmosphäre im Hotel sehr genossen.

Absolutely loved the hotel, the room and the breakfast was all great, however the best thing about this hotel is Duncan Absolutely first class customer service and made the experience amazing. I will definitely be coming again

Nothing all perfect

Breakfast was great, and the bar and guest lounge were very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel was exactly as expected: a Victorian hotel, with some of the aging features that go with it. The facilities weren't all perfect, but modernising them would remove some of the charm of the place. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean, which was the main thing.

De locatie is echt prachtig. Het diner was heerlijk en ook het ontbijt was erg lekker. Wij hebben erg genoten en het personeel was ook erg vriendelijk.

de eenpersoonskamers zijn niet erg groot maar prima te doen voor 1 of een aantal dagen

Absolutely charming building, with excellent attention. The dinner and breakfast were delicious. The location is absolutely fantastic. You can lay down with your drink of choice while looking at the beautiful scenery.

The bed and pillows were good and nice location but isolated

The room was only fair, not very large compared to others we'd stopped in and the woodland view consisted of an emergency stairs in front of the window, carpark road then some woodland. We selected to eat there as the nearest restaurant was 10 miles away but with no online prices or menu it was overpriced.

La habitación estaba bien, fuimos 2 familias de 4, 4 habitaciones, tenían tanto camas juntas como separadas, con desayuno incluído, muy rico. Además, llegamos tarde y nos atendieron rápida y amablemente. El lagito de al lado es estupendo y precioso!

El único pero es que el agua del baño, tanto de la ducha como del lavabo era amarilla, y aunque la dejaras correr un poco, no cambiaba nada.

Het hotel lag op een hele mooie locatie aan het meer. Uitzicht vanuit kamer en eetkamer is fantastisch. Kwaliteit van het eten is uitstekend en de mensen zijn zeer vriendelijk met een extra pluim voor Duncan!

Als je met een hond reist is er een zeer beperkte uitlaat gelegenheid los van een rondje in de tuin. Het hotel is een beetje verouderd en sleets. Losse vloertegel in de badkamer. Bruin water uit de kranen en weinig druk op de waterleiding.

Astoundingly beautiful location on Loch Maree. Arrived after a long day cycling from Lochcarron, up and down the Bealach Na Ba, Applecross Peninsula, and through the majestic Torridon Forest. My wife checked in ahead to set up her plein air kit to paint the glorious vista behind the hotel. Duncan was most accommodating, a jack of all trades not unlike the innkeeper Gordon Urquhart in "Local Hero." Dinner, also served up by Duncan, was sublime, including a very tasty Cullen Skink followed by seared local salmon. Continental breakfast was more than sufficient to fuel up for the next leg of our journey.

The tap water is brown as it comes from the loch . It is safe to drink - but just looks a bit unnerving.

The hosts were very friendly and the food was delicious, would not hesitate to recommend this lovely hotel.

Hotel is really good, location is fantastic with stunning views. Duncan looked after your needs very helpful and just a wealth of knowledge. Food was excellent very tasty 😋 Breakfast also fantastic 😋

The only downside is the colour of the water 💧 because the hotel has its own supply it tends to run out of pressure making having a shower tricky. The colour is not a good look 😕 in this day and age it wouldn't be to difficult to put in a system to clean the water and supply a good pressure.

Beautiful location on the banks of the loch. Some breathtaking views from my bedroom window. Breakfast was lovely.

The staff were lovely and accommodating but appeared to be doing everything. I think one more member of staff during peak times such as during breakfast and check out but help dramatically.

If you’re looking for state of the art this isn’t it but if you’re after a more traditional place it’s ideal, just a little tired and dusty/ cobwebs

Tired decor and cleanliness

L'hôtel a le charme de l''ancien, . Il est situé directement sur le Loch Maree. Le restaurant propose une cuisine plutôt raffinée. Les chambres sont assez petites. Nous n'avons pas eu de problème de pression à la douche, et une bouteille d'eau est fournie si on est rebuté par l'eau tourbée qui coule au robinet. L'emplacement est très calme.

Il n'est pas mentionné que c'est très isolé : il faut prendre la voiture si on ne souhaite pas dîner sur place ou aller randonner au bord du Loch.

The location is excellent, as a base for Loch Maree or as a stop for a longer trip. Quiet rooms, good lounge. Safe parking. A curious mix of Overlook Hotel and Faulty Towers, in an entertaining way.

Bathroom sort of done up, but someone forgot to add towel hooks... headboard leaning against the light switch… all adding to the character.

Excellent accueil et de très bon conseils sur les coins à visiter. Le personnel est attentionné. Très bon dîner et petit déjeuner avec vue sur le lac. Très calme, propre, j'y suis restée une nuit de plus pour en profiter et j'y retournerais avec plaisir.

Das Hotel und die Ausstattung ist schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber gerade das macht seinen Charme aus. Die Küche ist hervorragend und das junge Team außergewöhnlich aufmerksam und freundlich. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Das Personal, alles junge Leute, war äußerst freundlich und zuvorkommend. Vielen Dank dafür! Das Hotel ist sehr schön, sauber und perfekt gelegen. Wer den Oldscool-Look mag und den einfachen aber guten Stil bevorzugt, ist hier sehr gut aufgehoben.

L'acqua che scorre in bagno e doccia è scura, usano quella di una sorgente lì vicino. Hanno tranquillizzato che non ci sono problemi, che è solo il colore, però fa un po' impressione . In ogni caso noi ci siamo lavati senza problemi. E per lavare i denti usato acqua in bottiglia che gentilmente lasciano in stanza. Nel complesso lo consiglio

Bel hôtel au calme , personnel sympathique

L’eau qui vient d’une source est naturellement marron , ce qui fait un effet peu commun pour prendre une douche ou bien lorsque l’on voit cette eau dans la bouilloire ou même les toilettes …

Mooi oud hotel aan het Loch Maree. Top locatie. Leuke eigenaren en we hebben heerlijk op het terras gezeten met een biertje. Lekker gegeten in het restaurant.

The location at the lake is beautiful and our room was nice.

The shower has almost zero pressure and brown water. Furthermore, the hotel needs a deep clean.

Lovely location

Long term it’s in need of some TLC

Nous avons passé 2 nuits très agréables en famille dans le cottage attenant à l'hôtel. Il est très confortable, correctement équipé avec 2 chambres ( lit double et lits jumeaux) et une cuisine/salon. Les vues sur le loch Maree sont superbes. L'endroit est calme et paisible. Pas de photos du cottage sur Booking à part la façade. Il est beaucoup plus grand que la surface annoncée. L'hôtel est plein de charme, très Scottish dans sa décoration. Le petit-déjeuner servi à la carte et à l'assiette est "delicious" et le personnel accueillant. Un endroit où on se sent bien et où on a envie de revenir !

Les horaires de la réception, fermée entre 10 et 15h. Inutile d'arriver avant 15h, l'hôtel sera vide. Beaucoup d'insectes. Normal, on est en pleine nature! Il ne faut pas avoir peur de l'eau jaune qui a priori est potable et bonne pour la peau!

The room was very comfortable, and we were lucky to have Queen Victoria's room with a wonderful view of the loch. We had breakfast and dinner for the 4 days of our stay. Every meal was excellently prepared; the menu was sufficiently varied so that there was a lot of choice over the time. The staff were very pleasant and attentive to all of our requests. Very peaceful location, and a good base for exploring further afield to Gairloch, Ullapool, Torridan, etc.

The shower water pressure could have been better; however the limitations of the local spring supply were explained and the shower was adequate enough.

Het appartement maar ook het hotel zelf voelen een beetje verwaarloosd en toe aan onderhoud.

Het lekkere eten en het gratis warm bereidde ontbijt waar je kon kiezen uit een menu. Heel vriendelijk personeel.

Tout était très bien.Excellent repas le soir ainsi que le petit déj, mais ce que je retiendrai surtout c est la gentillesse et l 'excellent accueil du personnel, en particulier de Duncan qui est vraiment très sympathique il nous a même dit quelque mots en français. Merci encore à lui.

Un accueil très chaleureux et des hôtes adorables, toujours attentifs et aux petits soins. Le petit déjeuner et le dîner étaient délicieux. L’ambiance est très cocooning, particulièrement agréable quand la pluie tombe dehors. Et quelle vue sublime sur le Loch Maree, même par temps nuageux ! Merci aussi pour la découverte des deux whiskies 😉🥃 Une très belle étape que nous recommandons sans hésiter !

Water pressure in the tap and shower But, as it draws from a natural spring, it can nit be helped.

The room was good bed comfy food was lovely breakfast was very good.The views were lovely from the hotel.

Fantastic location. Saw a pod of dolphins just off the beach while having breakfast. All staff were friendly and helpful.

Odeur de renfermé dans la chambre (VMC ne semble pas fonctionner). Très peu de pression de douche. Serviettes élimées et légèrement déchirées (étrange). On pense avoir eu la moins bonne chambre, qui donnait sur l'escalier de service extérieur (peut-être moins chère ??)

La amabilidad y la atención del personal es excelente, además de las vistas de la habitación que son muy bonitas. El entorno es mágico, con el lago, aunque hay muchos mosquitos midges. El restaurante sirve comida muy rica.

El baño, ya que debido a un efecto natural del agua del entorno conocido como peatwater, el agua estaba completamente naranja. Se supone que es potable y segura, pero genera incomodad. Además, la bañera era imposible usarla de ducha, ya que no cabes de pie y además el agua salía o hirviendo o muy fría. La habitación también estaba un poco fría, no se podía encender el radiador.

Location is spectacular, right on the Loch side the views are amazing. Duncan and Josh are superb hosts, nothing was too much trouble and their knowledge of the local area and humour made our stay superb. Food was excellent, we had evening meal and breakfast, both were fresh and incredibly tasty. I had a single room, which was small but very comfortable and clean so perfect for my stay, I will certainly return next time I am in the North west of Scotland.

The house itself was great with great view and helpful and friendly staff.

The water was dirty. They use some local pump and the water in my room from the tap was literally brown so I didn’t shower and use it to wash hands.

... breakfast & dinner menu was quite good. I had some amazing days on the loch with my packraft, although it was somewhat drizzling those days. Many thanks to Duncan for the very warm welcome, nice conversations and the whisky 🥃 tasting 😊. Won't forget the Liberator #652 🍺 evening 😉. All in all very recommended.

Prima ontvangst en locatie met privé parkeerplaats. Verder maakte het uitzicht over Loch Maree een heleboel goed.

De kamer was niet schoon, veel stof, achterstallig onderhoud, beddengoed was echt niet gewassen, tapijt in de kamer was niet schoon. Ik zou dit niet boeken als je gevoelig bent voor stof en onreinheid. We waren op de hoogte van het historische watersysteem, een aantal momenten zonder water om op te frissen. Als we dit alles hadden geweten, dan hadden we nog ff doorgereden naar een andere locatie. Ontbijt was ook niet ok. Kortom, het geld echt niet waard.

L’albergo è in una splendida posizione che si raggiunge costeggiando laghi e boschi. la terrazza sul retro dell’albergo porta direttamente, attraverso un prato, fino al pontile privato del lago. la stanza era molto accogliente e con letti comodissimi.. ottima colazione, personale, accogliente e molto gentile. una raccomandazione: dal momento che l’albergo è isolato e il ristorante chiude molto presto, se si arriva in serata è utile portarsi qualcosa da mangiare, perché in zona non c’è davvero nulla.

la possibilità per gli ospiti in arrivo di mangiare qualcosa almeno fino alle 20.30.. a noi per fortuna hanno fatto un sandwich davvero basic (ma non economico, per quello che era), così almeno non siamo andate a letto digiune.

The employees of the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was amazing but the room was not so well maintained needs a bit of renovation.
