Great location . Parking was great
Just be aware there are stairs. At least our room. Reminded me of Amsterdam . Very old building with charm. Bathroom had an odor. Mentioned it to the front desk person. My only complaint.
Location
Removing carpet and replacing with woodgrain vinyl flooring or resurfacing existing hardwood floors
Very cool historic hotel. Made me feel like I was staying there in the early 1900’s, but in a good way. Staff was wonderful and very helpful.
There is a big flight of stairs up to the room, which wouldn’t be good for some who doesn’t do stairs well.
Charming, interesting nooks and crannies with libraries.
Lots of stairs but no different than European inns.
Well located in the center of town. Large suite with full kitchen, refrigerator and stove. Very good bed and pillows. Espresso cafe right across the street.
No elevator. Lots of stairs. May be challenging with heavy or bulky luggage.
LOVED how clean the place was! Perfect location, easy check-in, friendly staff and free parking in the back of the property.
Very unique and Victorian. Lots to explore.
Nothing
The room was available earlier than expected, and the staff were friendly. The room had everything that was advertised, and when I mentioned the bad smell, they provided an extra fan.
The room had a pizza/garbage smell, thin walls, curtains that didn’t block out light, and an extremely slippery bathtub. My friend was given keys to the wrong room, and the front desk then gave his spare key to another couple, who opened his door while he was inside. After a week of trying, I still couldn’t reach the manager; they wouldn’t answering my calls during business hours and just let it go to voicemail.
Location
Two flights of stairs to our room. I’m 84 years old and access was a bit challenging and $300 per night was quite high.
Loved it
Nothing, it was spot on
So fancy
A nice historical place - loved it!
Maybe it needs a bit of TLC but it is definitely not a motel you stay all the time. It has its charm.
Such a cool place to stay and experience a bit of the Victorian feel of the city of Port Townsend. Like taking a step back in time while still having all the modern comforts. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The bed was comfy! Cant beat the location, right in the heart of downtown. Everything is walkable.
If you have mobility issues there is no elevator due to the historic building so a few stairs might be something to consider. Also, the old building doesn't offer much as far as heating and cooling so be prepped for that. They do their best to accommodate with fans and portable cooling systems which helps.

No one told us breakfast was I cluded
No breakfast was offered.
Climbing the stairs.
What breakfast?
Have front office staffed fully 24/7
Best hotel in our 4 night road trip. A Gem
No view but quiet
Spacious room and bathroom. Great location in downtown Port Townsend. Close to restaurants, shops and waterfront.
-The location -I love historic buildings
Shower head didn’t work, Colleen’s room
The staff and the location were excellent.
The room was a little run down. Horrible, cheap decor. The windows were falling apart.
The location in the down town level, walking distance to so much, the history of the hotel and very comfortable accommodations! We had a sitting room, a kitchenette, large bathroom and comfortable bed. Beautifully and historically appointed hotel was lovely to look, almost like a museum.
The only thing we didn’t like was having our room on the 3rd floor which meant two long flights of stairs. Fortunately we travel light so not a problem with us for luggage. Good cardio!
Really charming property, with each room themed and decorated uniquely. Service was wonderful; every staff member we interacted with was so lovely and helpful.
The beds were fine but not the most comfortable to sleep on. Our room was on the side facing the street, and the windows/walls are thin enough that some early morning car/truck noise (and seagulls!) woke us up earlier than we’d planned. I assume rooms that are not facing the street are quieter, though!
A beautiful and comfortable room! A wonderful location. An amazing, and walkable neighborhood!

The history and location were execelling
Amazing!!!
Close to shopping to shopping. Quaint decorations.
Stairs.
Climbing the beautiful green almost velvet like stairs to the third floor
Same as above
Excellent location Such an interesting history Wonderful staff
Good location
Our room was above the Pizza place and smelt of pizza the entire time. Was really overpowering even though an air purifier was on in the room.
Every thing especially the kind and professional staff.
Nothing . Did not like the stairs. 78 with bad knee. Nothing you change. Maybe a heads up when booking. Would have still booked.
We stayed in one of the suites. Beautiful view great location, very clean and comfortable.
The staff was great. Everyone was very helpful.
The location was great and our room had everything we needed and more.

Fantastic quirky in a lovely way restored Victorian hotel. The rooms are beautiful. We had a loft room , outstanding space
A warning , no lifts , although it clearly says that. There are a lot of stairs , but very easy ones
Beautiful room.
Unexpectedly, they had a parking lot so we didn't have to find street parking! Comfy beds with variety of pillows! Shower with body jets! Historical and comfortable! Beautifully decorated! We could walk to all the shops and great resaurants within a block!
Although there were shades, the room got quite bright pretty early in the AM. Blackout curtains, or better yet and cheaper fix would be to have some disposable sleep masks available!
The mattresses were very comfortable, the staff person was friendly when we checked in. Location in the heart of Port Townsend was great.
I was fine about the two flights of stairs, but some people might not be. When we checked out, the staff person did not smile or acknowledge me.
In the decor, the room, the staff
The only thing since I’m a little older, the stairs were a challenge. But I just took them one at a time. It was worth the effort because I got to the room and I was just in awe. It was very beautiful.
The staff was great and while we didn't ask for cleaning, housekeeping was happy to let us switch out the towels. Building is quirky and interesting, and we really liked all the different lounge-type areas with antique furniture and lots of books and games. Good place to hang out in bad weather or when shops/restaurants are closed. Quite near the wonderful Rose Theatre and the Starlight Room, and our fave shop House of the Faun.
There were a LOT of stairs. While this wasn't much of an issue for us, it was definitely a factor in whether or not we went back for our umbrella! Also, there was a party going on in the room around the corner from us with loud voices and much coming and going long after 10 PM. Expect that it's a lively place with not much to dampen sound between areas and rooms, if you are sensitive to that.
I liked that the whole place felt historical.
It was perfect for what me and my husband was looking for! The location is perfect for exploring shops and dinning! Definitely 5 star hotel! Staff was very kind and helpful!
The history!!! Me and my hubby love history so this hotel was perfect
Beautiful room, perfect location on Water St
Beautiful Victorian vibe and close to everything
Basic services
Nice size bathroom, enough room for wheelchair use. Very much appreciated a walk in shower rather than a bathtub that you have to step into.
We came in early and the front desk indicated that the room requested wasn't available and switched us to another room on the same floor. We've been at this hotel before and are well aware there isn't an elevator, so staying on the 2nd floor was important to us. Didn't realize however that it was a much smaller room than the one we stayed in previously and in the very early morning we would have extended noise from the garbage/recycling truck. No matter though, it's just something else to remember to ask about the next time we book.
The location is amazing! In the heart of historic downtown.
No elevator. The ceilings are high so the stairs are long!
I like the Victorian theme and history.
The guy checking us in was chiming in on my conversation with my friend about the place. Then proceeded to say Grim lied about the ghost tour I had previously paid for. At the end, saying all the stories about the place are BS.
Beds were comfortable. Coffee bar well stocked. Soaking tub was nice. Location is perfect!
Noise from child running around upstairs late and early the next morning as well. Very strong smell of pizza from next door business.
It was fun to stay in a lovely historic building instead of a generic hotel. Our room had brick walls and lots of windows. The room was spacious and the small kitchenette very functional for simple meals. We enjoyed the decorated sitting rooms. Great location for walking around downtown Port Townsend. Staff members were friendly. Easy check out -- just drop your keys in the box.
The only issue was the parking lot was filled on a Saturday afternoon, but we found street parking nearby. This might be more difficult during high season.
The history and styling of the hotel was so enjoyable, and the staff were very friendly. The location was excellent.
The bed in room 4 was. Extremely firm; which was unpleasant. Highly recommend bringing a sleeping mask if you don’t want to be up with the sun.
The historic Palace Hotel is amazing. From the moment you walk into the lobby, it is like going back in history. It is exceptional. This is my second time staying at The Palace and staff is wonderful. Also, dog friendly! Perfect location for downtown Port Townsend. Highly recommend.
All was great
Location - right in the middle of town. Everything was in walking distance
Zero
We stayed in one of the older rooms - clean and comfy. It has a lot of character and history.
Nothing
Good location, pkg,
No elevator
Location
All good
The staff was incredibly kind and this was such a unique hotel. It felt like stepping back in time and fit beautifully in with the area. Very walkable for the rest of the town and any tours.
Location was fantastic. Beautiful view from the room.
A warning about the amount of stairs. We were on the third floor and then more stairs to bedroom. A visit to the bathroom required traveling down those stairs.
Beautiful hotel; central downtown; 5 min walk to boat terminals at either end of town; very comfortable beds/fun and interesting rooms; quiet despite it’s central location; fantastic and fun history that is played up by the decor; great/unique library and amenities; staff was wonderful - would absolutely stay there again
No elevator that we found - fine for us, but request first floor if you are less mobile
Such a grand old hotel with beautiful vintage decor and lovely appointments. Right on Water Street, so is very easy to walk to everything!
Pizza smell coming from restaurant below - not a bad smell as smells go, but noticeable. What to do? Go eat pizza!
Excellent location with nice rooms.
The location is ideal for a visit to the main street in Port Townsend. Coffee, restaurants and shops are all at hand. The water view is the best way to appreciate this hotel, but the rooms are large and any would make for a pleasant stay.
Although some may prefer to have an elevator, the stairs afford that crucial bit of exercise that does a body good. Given that the ceilings are high, the stairs between floors are plentiful so guests should be aware and prepared for this.
Very quiet and comfortable room, with a comfortable king size bed. Got an excellent night's sleep. Cute vintage decorations and common spaces. I stayed here when I was 18, and almost 50 years later, it hasn't changed a bit.
Carpet was a bit dusty.
The staff are sooo nice. Rooms are cozy. Love the atmosphere. The view , We were close to the water and ferry. The kitchen had everything we needed.
The stairs of course. But great exercise for us oldies!!
Lovely hotel, great staff and very clean and organized.
There is no proper coffee service available. The rooms have small coffee makers.
The Palace Hotel was unlike any hotel I’ve ever stayed at. It was an old-time brothel at some point, but rather than hide it they leaned in to that history. The room doors even have the names of the workers who plied their trade there! It was super comfy, and tremendously charming. The staff was very friendly and the price was very reasonable; I’d stay there again in a heartbeat.
A little more parking would probably be helpful, but there are also extra places along the main road.
Charming building, free parking and great location!
Nothing! It was pretty great and accurately described.
The proximity to town. You're right in the heart of downtown. The people / staff were warm and welcoming. The hotel decor has an old-time aesthetic and it feels like you're staying with your rich aunt..
The bed was a little too firm. I understand you can't please everyone!
I liked the authentic surroundings and it was beautiful
Needs a elevator.
It's convenient location and style of hotel very old and very cool! Staff was amazing and we did get a little activity. On Friday at 2:12 am there was whistling in the hall and felt and sounded like someone was right next our door. Thinking it was my friend.I got up went out there to join and no one was there. I waited in the sitting area as it felt someone was walking towards the staircase but no one ever came down. That feeling, that someone was walking towards the tip of the staircase, and then just stopped there. That's the feeling that I kept getting. On Saturday it was the smell of smoke and the whistling again. Totally haunted!
The bed was uncomfortable.
Authentic Victorian and very well decorated in correct style. This was the most genuine period hotel of the whole trip.
Trying to give full shower experience in a roll top tub does not work if you are large and tall!
Extremely comfortable room and mattress! Beautiful restored and renovated in a very appropriate manner. Quite a delight!
