The room and bed linen had an unpleasant odor. Considering the price charged for the room, the facilities provided were below expectations and did not offer good value for money. At a similar price point, I have stayed at other properties that offered significantly better amenities, including rooms with a bathtub and jacuzzi. At this price point, some complimentary refreshments or snacks in the room would have been appreciated. The gym was small and lacked adequate equipment. Additionally, the fruits provided in the gym area were rotten, which was disappointing and reflected poorly on the overall guest experience.

would have appreciated if some bit of local flavour - in terms of ethnic food, cultural events etc .were captured., even if it meant some drop in the 'convenience' index. e.g., a bit of mandatory walking, no air-conditioning etc.. What has been built up is all the features of a 'luxury' Hotel in a city context making it expensive, with very little of village ambience.

Reviewed Oct 25, 2025The resort is set in a wonderful location amongst the coffee plantations of the Western Ghats. It occupies a huge site across the side of the hill, so that despite its large number rooms and extensive facilities wherever you are you feel you are on your own surrounded by nature. A large number of activities are offered to guests each day, some of which come included in the price of your stay. However for anyone interested in experiencing and learning more about the nature of the area we highly recommend the wonderful tours that were guided by Sudeesh the resort’s forest ranger who was a mine of information and spoke excellent English.

Reviewed Apr 8, 2025There are just three buggies for 56 rooms. Not a five star resort by any means. 1. There are just three buggies that can take two guests at time and 56 rooms in total. Do the ‘how long do I have to wait?’ math when you want to go to the restaurant or spa from room. 30-40 mins. 2. Bad check in experience. Did not even get a glass of water let alone tea/coffee/juice. Again, they call themselves a five star property 3. Had called the property repeatedly at least from a week before arrival to book spa slot was told it can be done after check in every time, even on the day of arrival. When we called after we got our room, surprise! All slots were booked. So much so for managing and communicating. 4. Told the staff they need to stay at Taj Madikeri for a day to understand what hospitality is. After all the tariffs are similar and both are five star properties. 5. The Tamara Coorg was an unpleasant experience at best. Tamara Kodai was a superb experience. Wonder where the brand got lost. 6. When informed the front office about these issues, we were told the Manager, Mr Sakrhitharan R, would call back and address the issue. Surprise again! Not only did he not call but when I called him twice, went unanswered.

The transportation support we took from the property was not that great ! We expected a better service with charges expected. You can do better here

A shout out to Dr.Sunitha who took care of us, also very humble and polite Inspite of being a doctor herself! We came across 2 waiters whontreated us so well and need a special mention..Mr Sourabh and Mr Bishu. They made us feel at home, asking us to taste their Specialities/desserts even after we said we were full, just like how mom/friends would ask...n we gave in too :) apart from the mentions, each n every staff including the last staff at the fag exit waved at us when leaving.....makes you to wana come back:) Thank you Tamara...top notch hospitalilty

Food is also good and if you are a person to enjoy the activities then this is the best place. The buggy is helpful for elderly people. Tamara has to look after their employees who are the asset.
Only thing is the last 4 km road to reach the hotel is too small but the security out there did a very good job.
