Spacious room with comfortable bed. Hosts are very friendly and welcoming. Area is very quiet and calm. We did a kayaking for two days and it was amazing. Food was very delicious. Thank you guys for your space!

Een prachtige locatie met een ontzettend lieve en gastvrije eigenaar die heerlijk kan koken. Deze plek moet je bezoeken als je in Sri lanka bent! Een uniek plekje aan een mooi water en een prachtig gebouwd huisje. Er zit een mooi verhaal achter het opzetten van deze locatie. Ook zeker mee het water op gaan met een vissersmannetje!

A hidden gem! This tiny, simple lodge is perfect for those seeking to connect with nature and experience personable Sri-Lankan hospitality. My wife and I stayed there for two nights, and we loved it. The location is amazing. The property is in a sparsely populated area adjacent to the National Park, so you feel you're pretty much in the middle of the jungle. Our room was literally meters away from a beautiful lake that attracts many birds, peacocks, and quite a few monkeys. Early in the morning, you can hear the jungle waking up with all its intensity– such a lovely experience. I had a nice swim at the lake, and the water was pleasant. Roshani, the young owner of the place, was super friendly and helpful. The way she treated us made us feel like guests staying at a friend's place, rather than in a hotel. When my wife felt ill with the flu, Roshani sent her husband to buy her medicine, and was always attentive to see how she was feeling. She helped us arrange a tuk-tuk to get to the National Park, as well as the Jeep ride inside the park. Her homemade food was delicious– among the best we've had in Sri Lanka. If you stay here, I highly recommend taking the lake safari. Roshani arranged it for us and was super affordable. A local fisherman in a canoe picked us up early in the morning and took us for an hour and a half ride around the lake. We saw many types of birds, and while we didn't see any wild elephants, they told us that it's not uncommon to spot them bathing. Overall, we had a very comfortable stay, but do keep in mind this is a very simple, austere lodge. There is no wifi or luxury of any type, but that's kind of the point!

De hostess was super aardig en lief. Het verblijf was werkelijk prachtig en super rustgevend. De kamer ook heel schoon. In de avond werd er een kampvuur voor ons aangestoken en werd de tuin verlicht met vuur en lichtjes. Ook werd er geweldig lekker voor ons gekookt. In de ochtend ook nog een heerlijk ontbijt. Zeker aan te raden als je op zoek bent naar een rustig plekje. Het kajakken over het meer was zo gaaf!

What a magical place! Roshani and her husband made us feel truly at home from the moment we arrived. She prepared lunch, dinner, and breakfast in her special kitchen and kindly explained her cooking along the way. Everything was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is peaceful and authentic, and the hospitality is exceptional.

Our host was so helpful and cooked us delicious meals. The property itself was stunning and so peaceful. We saw elephants without having to pay for entrance to the national park and took the canoe out in the morning with a local fisherman. We saw crocs and an incredible array of birds. I can't really express how much lovely our host was. She's very interested in books so she'd be so happy if you're able to leave some with her. We would 100% come again.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Glimra Eco Lodge. We received a very warm welcome from Roshani, who generously shared insights into life in Sri Lanka and its local cuisine. She prepared three meals a day for us, and it was by far the best food we had during our month in Sri Lanka. We were also very pleased with the accommodation itself, which was comfortable and thoughtfully maintained, and daily room service was provided as well. The surrounding nature was beautiful, and during our kayak tours we were able to observe a wide variety of animals. What made the stay truly special was the warm and personal atmosphere throughout our time there. It was the perfect place to slow down, relax, and enjoy the surrounding nature. We already miss our time at the lodge very much and hope to come back one day.

Roshani was an AMAZING host! She and her team ensured that our space was spotlessly clean, and that we had everything we needed. Her food was the best Sri Lankan food I've had so far, and this was my third trip to Sri Lanka! What a peaceful location...we hung a hammock between the trees, went swimming, and enjoyed the sounds of the birds during our relaxing stay. Hope to come again!

Stay here if you want to experience beautiful Sri Lankan nature!!! The property is so serene, with views over the lake right on your doorstep. There are SO many birds around, we saw King Fishers, Eagles and Herons. The property is owned and run by a young couple, who are excellent hosts. Roshani cooked us delicious meals and also showed us where we could see elephants on the road. You can also take their kayak and explore the lake yourself. Really a wonderful stay and we hope to return!

Such a magical place! Sleeping in beautiful nature right in front of the lake, where we did a lot of kayaking which was so peaceful and we could see a lot of birds as well buffalos. Also, Roshani gave us a great alternative to the expensive and crowded jeep safari when she arranged a tuktuk driver for us who got us to a place nearby to see elefants. We had amazing selfmade food (breakfast, lunch and dinners) - the best food we had on our trip so far!! Great talking to Roshani to hear her inspiring story. Besides all the aforesaid: you support a wonderful local business staying with her. Highly recommended!!

Glimra Eco Lodge was just lovely. The young owners are really going to make a success of this business. They kindly drove us along the road in the late afternoon to look for elephants, cooked a delicious dinner and then booked me a boat safari. They work so hard! Really recommend the boat safari too, it was just beautiful and I saw so many birds and took photos. I wish I could have stayed longer.

No Wifi and poor 4G on Dialogue, although this can be rectified if you walk up the road.

Trois nuits passées dans ce petit paradis juste incroyable. Lieu charmant, calme, idéal pour se reconnecter avec la nature. Nous avions pris l’option « all inclusive ». Très bon rapport qualité prix. En effet les plats était excellents, variés et copieux fait avec amour au coin de la cheminée à bois. Ces plats sont les meilleurs qu’on ai pu manger sur 1 mois de voyage à travers le Sri Lanka. Nous ajoutons également que la cuisinière utilise que des produits brutes achetés au marché. Tenus par couple souriant et attentionné cette expérience etait incroyable. Nous avons loger dans une petite maisonnette faite en terre battue, un réel dépaysement. Un canoë est à disposition pour s’offrir un safari fluvial juste incroyable. Nous gardons un souvenir inoubliable de cette expérience Nous recommandons vivement ! (Dommage que nous pouvions pas mettre une note plus haute que 10) C’était du 100/10 ⭐️

Een pareltje in the middle of nowhere! Ik was random aan het kijken op Booking.com en toen kwam dit onderkomen voorbij. Last minute konden we een nachtje boeken, ondanks dat we eigenlijk ergens anders een reservering hadden. Soms moet je gewoon het yes-moment waarmaken, dus dat deden we! Super hartelijk en liefdevol ontvangen door de eigenaresse die alles vanaf dag 1 heeft opgebouwd met de support van haar man en zo slim is om rustig haar accommodaties uit te breiden. Niks overhaasten, alles op zijn tijd. Het huisje waar we verbleven was prachtig - alles zelf gebouwd van natuurlijk materiaal. Het is primitief, er zit geen glas in de ramen, dus je slaapt praktisch buiten. Maar dat is de hele charme van dit verblijf. Helaas regende het van 15u 's middags tot de volgende ochtend vroeg, waardoor er wat lekkage was ontstaan in het huisje (deze was later ook redelijk verholpen). Daardoor sliepen we wat onrustig en konden we niet genieten van het kampvuur. De avond was verder heel gezellig met superlekker eten en fijne gesprekken met andere gasten. De volgende ochtend scheen de zon en konden we gebruik maken van de kayak om zelf het meer te verkennen. Een fijne afsluiter! Omdat er geen PickMe/Uber opties zijn in de buurt, kan er vanuit de accommodatie een taxi worden geregeld tegen een betere prijs dan PickMe met een ontzettend vriendelijke chauffeur. Echt top!

De locatie is fantastisch, maar de eigenaresse is echt heel aardig en een geweldige kok. Ze doet enorm haar best om dit tot een klein succes te maken en ik weet zeker dat het gaat lukken.

Niks en als ik iets moet noemen is het dat je in de nacht mega veel dieren hoort maar dat is ook vrij normaal midden in de natuur

Een hele mooie, bijzondere en rustgevende locatie aan het meer! Wij genoten van een kajaktocht met de lokale visser waarbij we twee olifanten zagen. Onwijs gaaf!

Het enige wat tegenviel was de koude douche, maar dat is begrijpelijk in een eco lodge.

Fantastische locatie gerund door een lieve, ambitieuze dame, Roshani, die er graag een fantastisch verblijf van maakt voor je. Verblijf hier heeft ons absoluut meer meer geleerd over het leven in Sri Lanka, vanuit hier Safari tour gedaan naar Udalawawe National Park en kano tour op het meer met lokale visser - met name die laatste erg bijzonder.

We had an unforgettable stay with Roshani and her family. Their warm hospitality, the amazing food, and the stunning location right by the lake make this ecolodge truly unique. Roshani and her husband personally built the entire place – including the lodges and the beautifully landscaped garden – a heartfelt project by two locals from the village, not part of a chain. This makes the whole experience wonderfully authentic. The lodges are beautiful, super clean, with a comfortable bed, mosquito net, private veranda overlooking the lake, and everything you need for a relaxing stay. Roshani’s cooking is outstanding – fresh, varied, always local, and even adapted to personal preferences. She and her family genuinely enjoy connecting with guests, always curious and kind, but never intrusive. We loved being greeted every morning by their sweet dogs! Nature here is breathtaking: monkeys, cows, and countless birds throughout the day – and elephants crossing the lake. With a bit of luck, you can even watch them while on the boat, moving alongside as they swim across. The boat trip on the lake with fishermen from the village, exploring its different corners, was another unforgettable highlight. Roshani also arranged other activities and transfers perfectly.

I traveled to this lodge alone and felt the entire time like I was visiting family. Roshani was so attentive, thorough and communicative. She not only provided accommodations but invited me on various cultural experiences so I could get a first hand experience. I highly recommend staying here!

Absolutely unique design and localisation just at the lake! Boat trip at the morning at very low cost was amazing. Highly recommend!

Such a beautiful house so secluded and close to the lake

We had a relaxing two days in nature at the homespun Glimra eco lodge on our way to Uda Walawe safari park. It was great to meet and chat to our helpful and attentive hosts Roshani and Nishanka, who are at the beginning of their journey making a larger lodging ground, and it was special to stay in their first house made by Nishanka himself. We enjoyed our afternoon canoe ride by a local fisherman, and spotting birds and animals by the lake

We chose Glimra Eco Lodge as a stop on our trip between Ella and Tangalle, and it turned out to be the best decision we could have made! Our stay here was the most special experience of our holiday in Sri Lanka. The lodge is beautiful and set near the lake, with everything well-maintained and spotlessly clean. The garden is lovely, and the peaceful location, surrounded by nature, makes it the perfect place to relax. Roshani and her husband were incredibly welcoming and did everything to make us feel comfortable. They prepared a delicious dinner for us and set up a cozy campfire where we could unwind under the stars. Sleeping in the eco-lodge, surrounded by the sounds of nature, was an unforgettable experience. In the morning, they arranged a canoe tour on the lake, which was absolutely stunning. Afterward, a delicious breakfast was waiting for us. We truly hope to visit again someday!

The food was incredible and the hosts were so generous with it, we could not finish it all. We loved the birds and the nature surrounding the property. Roshani took us to a beautiful sunset lookout point. We loved everything about our stay!

My partner and I stayed two nights in Glimra Eco lodge and this was a true pleasure. Roshani and her husband are such amazing hosts and so helpful, it couldn’t be any better. They did everything to make our stay memorable. From cooking delicious meals, to arranging a safari for us in Udawalawe, which is cheaper compared to the usual prices. Roshani also took us to a place nearby to see the beautiful sunset from up above a hill. The views from the ecolodge are amazing. One morning we could even see an elephant having a bath on the other side of the lake!

My stay at the Glima Eco Lodge was an amazing choice and I wished I could spent more time here. Roshani and her husband are such an inspiring and lovely couple. They treat you like you re a part of their family and serve you one of the best food I ever had in my LIFE! The Eco Lodge is so beautiful, it’s very clean and so cozy. The lake is infront of you and you can hear beautiful sounds of birds. The fireplace and the environment is so relaxing and you have the space only for you!
