Charm Apartment Beside Nile River

The best part of this property was NOT being in it. While it boasts of being on the Nile and provides the opportunity to walk or relax on the Corniche, you must enter the property by driving to it through a river of trash which is piled up on both sides of the road used to access the apartment. In fairness it looked as though the trash was being attended to by a herd of goats when I left.

If you know the phrase “try before you bull it definitely applies to this apartment. The photos shown on Booking.com indicate the apartment is bright and shiny and is in reasonably good nick, but that was far from the truth when I arrived. I pre-paid for two months and chose the non-refundable option. I won’t be doing that again. Charm apartment advertises a Nile view. It has no real windows and those that are available look out from the enclosed balcony facing west, away from the river. The enclosed balcony, which is an additional sleeping area, is filled with what appears to be the owner’s cast offs. The Booking photos indicate the apartment is clean and in good nick, but it was dirty, the wall’s plaster was pealing in almost every room, the kitchen utensils were filthy, the satellite tv was not connected, the carpets needed a deep clean and the bathrooms were less than adequate. The overall unit was a far cry from the photos on Booking.com. (If you look closely at the photos you will see that the only light the rooms receive is from the electric light fixtures.)

Near the Nilo and near the metro station

All the windows are sealed so that sunlight never enters, it feels like staying in a basement. The apartment is very dirty and neglected. There are places where the plaster is peeling off. In the apartment there are clothes and shoes of the owners
