Reviewed Mar 21, 2026We have travelled NZ a lot over the years and stayed at a lot of places that are pet friendly. This has to be one of the best we’ve stayed at. Has everything you need, cutest cottage, beautifully decorated, nice hot shower, comfy bed, great privacy, peaceful location but only 5 min drive to town. Thank you so much for allowing pets. We will 100% be booking here again in future.

Es riecht leicht modrig. Müll muss man selber entsorgen. Gasherdbedienungsankeitung nicht vorhanden ( die Gasflasche muss zuerst geöffnet werden, was uns zu Beginn unklar war.

The required rubbish removal was a bit of a trial. The allocated space in the town was 7K away and closed when we left early in the morning.

We came in summer and there was no way to hang washing outside - only inside, maybe an extra drying rack to move around would be good.

Reviewed Apr 27, 2025House is an attraction by itself, decorated in Victorian style, with a lot of pictures and historic objects, great patio fully equipped for barbeque. Electric sheets, a lot of blankets, a lot of board games, fully equipped kitchen with a lot of utensils, great coffee machine, offering a flour and powder milk (we have a pancakes in the morning), great wifi.
Wood heating stove should be checked, it seems too smoky, asking for taking our garbage away.

Reviewed Mar 5, 2025Very spacious. The cottage is bigger inside than you think it's going to be. Plenty of room and well equipped. We arrived on a very wet day for one night. The log fire was welcomed. We probably missed the best of the scenary due to heavy clouds, bu the mountain did peek through at one stage. Nice garden too.

Reviewed Jan 31, 2025Large place - would be great for a family with places for up to 5 to sleep. Great communication, great wifi and great view of the mountain from the kitchen and outside. The hosts recommended Utopia Cafe and it had the best coffee of our 8 day North Island trip. Having a washing machine was a huge bonus. Short drive into town.
The cottage felt a little tired and had an old house scent - this may have been due to the fireplace. The beds were a little hard, no fresh milk for coffee and you need to take all your rubbish away with you.

I loved the distinctly NZ mountain retreat feeling - interesting art and decoration - a great selection of books - the fire place - the coffee machine -the super comfortable beds and the cozy couch - I could stay a lot longer ... next time 💗 Also It was great we could bring our little dog with us

Reviewed Feb 6, 2024Really charming character cottage in a very quiet neighborhood, just 5km from Ohakune. Offroad parking, lots of character features. Netflix on the TV a good option for a quiet night in. Would love to return in winter/autumn for a weekend of walks and fishing, and cosy board games. Shower water pressure was excellent!
We had an issue with the lock which the owner quickly resolved. We are very careful and suggest adding this instruction to the house notes.

Sincere thanks to the hosts for the wonderful Christmas decorations which made our stay very festive. Quiet area with a lovely country feeling and views of the mountains.
