Breakfast good, veggie meals good, accomodation pod good
Currys very poor Very poor service at evening meal when the bar busy with locals Eg. From sitting down to being asked what we would like was 50mins! We were so frustrated by this Faulty Tower service that we left a day early
Great location, clean, modern, accessible.
Breakfast is great with the staff accommodating most sensible requests and combination of items, views over the nearby hills are great, rooms are new and in great condition and beds very comfortable.
one little area would be the bathrooms in the lodges, as the roof slopes but the wall is painted the same colour as it merges into the ceiling its easy to bang your head when using the toilet!
Lovely quite room, clean with a really large bed which was very comfy, the telescope sadly didn't get used as the night was overcast.Breakfast good.
Steep slope to room.
Friendly staff and very helpful too . The lodge we stayed in was lovely, clean and comfortable.
The Pub/Hotel was clean and all staff were lovely. I picked this property due to its price (I had received a discount through Booking.com having Genius status) and where I needed to be the next day. Personally I would not have paid more for what I had. The room was enough for my needs and it was nice to have a bathroom with a mirror that did not mist up with steam, seeing there was no window in the room. I know its the little things, but these are the things that would make me book again. It was nice to be able to open a window rather than have those locks that only open a little as we are scared you are going to jump out. I had opted to use a portable fan in my room, to save road noice, but the only traffic was local farm vehicles etc. The dining room for dinner was clean and the menu was varied. Staff were very nice. My starter of salt and pepper calamari was lovely and so much of it. Not so on the main meal. My breakfast in the morning was amazing. The chef was on hand to tell me that the produce was local and the food was very filling. There was also pastries, cereals, tea and coffee on self service.
As I said the price was good, but if I had paid more I would not be happy. There is no alternative near, so this is the only place (as far as I could see) that you could eat and sleep. The food (in my eyes), was overpriced, but the only place to eat. I opted for the curry (I always say to others don't opt for a curry in an English pub, you will not be happy. And I did). Note to self. But it tasted fresh and home cooked, just not a curry. The price was too expensive at £19.00. In the bedroom there was a very bright green light showing where the door was, the light was too bright and even when my eyes were closed you could see the light. This has only every happened in another hotel in Barnstaple, so it might be a local thing, but one I shall be asking about before booking another room. I would have mentioned this in the morning when I left, but no one was around. Parking is not onsite, but literally just over the road in the square, you can see from my bedroom window how close.
Very clean and spacious lodge. Comfortable bed. Very good breakfast
Ideally located for touring the area and the pods were very comfortable.
It would have been nice to have comfortable seating on the small patio area off the bedroom. Also have the area paved rather than the stones and wood chips.
Friendly place and food lovely. Outstanding breakfast
Pub room may need a bit of TLC but overall a comfortable stay and would definitely go again.
Breakfast was excellent but just a bit too much food
Lighting in room could be better. Room not cleaned until we asked, and it was done very late
Breakfast was excellent, to match all else at Poltimore.
Nothing!!!!
Great pub. Excellent breakfast. Friendly warm environment. Comfy bed. A charming village. Excellent value.
An old characterful building and stairs could present difficulties.
Excellent service and friendly staff
Lodge was amazing so quite and views excellent village shop and church
Parking tricky
Food excellent, staff very friendly
Bathroom update
Lovely cosy pub in a great village location. Super friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable beds and the breakfast was amazing.
Some bits and pieces were a quite tired and needed replacing and the shower head spurted everywhere. This didn't detract. We had a great overnight stay.
First class breakfast. All staff very friendly and helpful.
Noise from bar very late at night.
Welcoming, friendly accommodating on all requests
A really well appointed, clean and cosy room.
Nothing.
Friendly, helpful staff, good breakfast and the cabin rooms offer wonderful views across the rolling hills. Very dog friendly. Cabin rooms are a good size with a large comfortable bed. The en-suite shower room is also spacious.
No onsite parking available. Dust & cobwebs behind tv, under chair and chest of draws.
Posizione comoda e pub per colazione e cena molto validi con terrazzo con vista
La camera sopra il pub non era molto pulita e aveva arredi vecchi. .Avevo letto bene dei lodge, che in effetti avevano aspetto piu' curato
I liked it.Was absolutely perfect
Room was clean all what need was Sef in kitchen is very good 😊💯 Dinner was amazing thank you
Nice and clean great location friendly staff.
Over kill on the allergies on food. Trying to Make a food choice on preference was very difficult.
Plenty of choice and plenty to eat.
A lot of bad language in the bar from the regular customers, considering there were families staying there with young children.
Such a peaceful setting in one of the lodges. All the staff were really friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food was very good and great value. The room was very clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay again. Could not fault anything!
Did not dislike anything - quite a find.
Staff and food lovely, just wish I new the bar didn't shut until 12am and kick out 12.30 as trying to sleep above it in the 'Mole' room was impossible. Heard a story of how to inject sheep discussed outside our window and as it was a hot night with no fan in room we couldnt shut it.
Noise from bar after 10pm, should of gone for a pod away from pub
More than anything it's great value for a quiet getaway in Exmoor. Starry skies above you, a balcony to star gaze from during the night, they provide a telescope for free and a manual of how to use it. The Inn is in the centre of town, very traditional, clean and local people working there. We had a lovely stay and would come again!
We loved staying here , the room was spacious and bed was very comfortable
Only small grumble was we could hear the people in the pub downstairs but we were expecting that as we chose this place knowing it was a pub
Rooms were roomy and meticulously clean. Shower was large, strong and easily adjustable. Breakfast was freshly cooked and plentiful. Staff were always friendly and helpful. The meat pie in particular was superb!
There was nothing to dislike.
Stayed here before and the cabins are really spacious and a comfy bed with fantastic views over the fields, food as ever is fantastic and good sized portions, will definitely return.
There was no housekeeping for the 3 nights we were there.
Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice and cooked part served very quickly with good quality ingredients. We have stayed before and really like the location and would visit again
Right from the start the welcome was great, the individual pods that we stayed in were great, the breakfast was lovely and fresh, the dinner choice was great and exceptionally good, all the staff were very polite and helpful couldn't fault them. Would definitely stay again.
The only thing that would have been nice would be to have a small fridge in the room but only a very small detail
Full English breakfast with other options as well. The village is charming.
There could have been more space and a desk surface in the room.
Ideal, near the main road, near Barnstaple and had we been staying longer near the coast and other attractions
Nothing
Clean and friendly , in a lovely location
Very clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast and good value for money
Unser Zimmer hatte Teppichboden. Der Teppich wirkte schon etwas abgenutzt. Die dauerhaft leuchtende Notausgangsbeleuchtung im Zimmer über dir Zimmertür war recht hell, so dass dies beim Einschlafen störte.
Lovely atmosphere and location, food was very good and staff are lovely
Very noisy till the pub closed as are room was above the bar.fire light in the bedroom is on permanently
The chalets were a pleasant surprise and made more remote from the road and bar.
Great location, excellent breakfast, comfortable stay.
Comfortable accommodation
Parking
Very easy check in and out. Lovely staff. The room was perfect for our overnight stay
We liked everything
La localisation
The staff were helpful and welcoming. The view onto the fields was beautiful, we enjoyed seeing the horses. Our room was neat and tidy.
Nothing to report.
The garden, the food and the accommodation.
Nothing
Very friendly staff, really nice pub in a beautiful location with lovely views. Room was spacious and clean and breakfast was great.
The breakfasts and the evening meals were delicious and well presented. The view from the restaurant balcony was idyllic. The accommodation was very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly.
The only downside was the on street parking which was a bit hit and miss.
Lovely quiet accommodation was set away from main pub. Food very good. Very friendly staff
Nothing
Lovely location, great views from the Lodge, comfy bed, large shower room with powerful shower. Very tasty breakfast.

The Chalet location and views. It was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was great.
The TV was far too small. Parking was in the square which meant a trek with a suitcase. Dinner was adequate considering the price.
The staff are friendly, the food is great and the lodges are comfortable and perfect for a getaway. We would definitely recommend this pub to anyone.
Parking can be difficult at times as there is only parking on the square over the road but its only a minor issue.
Zeer vriendelijk personeel.
A lovely place to stay.. Would visit again
it was just unfortunate that there was stag party and football match on the evening I was there
Excellent pub
Nothing
Everything. From the staff to the food to the accommodation. I can't fault them
Super chalet like accommodation behind pub. Spacious and nice modern decor. Large bathroom with powerful shower. Meals in the pub both from the menu and carvery were very tasty, as was the full English breakfast. Pub had rotating cask ales to ensure beer quality. No parking at venue but plenty of space in the square opposite. Lovely location in the Devonshire hills. Would stay here again if in the area.
Continental side of breakfast was disappointing. Would be good to add some natural yoghurt and fresh fruit options.
Comfortable clean accommodation with beautiful scenery based on the edge of Exmoor in a small quiet village. Serves good food.
The 25% incline to climb to reach the pub. Not a location for the unfit or elderly.
Everything! Staff are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble, beautiful place and delicious food!!
Going home!!
We had a lovely stay, the whole venue is wheelchair accessible, although on steep hill, and very dog friendly.
Plant based food options are limited, but manageable.
Great pub
All good nothing not to like
The location at the centre of the village. The bed was extremely comfortable, I like a firm mattress. The views over the surrounding countryside are quintessentially English.
There wasn’t anything I didn’t like.
The property was well decorated and inviting. The staff were lovely. The food was great quality. Lots of choice both for dinner and breakfast. The view from the garden was stunning. The room was lovely and the bed was comfortable. We had a problem with one of our bulbs and it was dealt with very quickly. I would definitely stay here again.
Nothing
Everything it was just as advertised. The breakfast was excellent
The young girl at breakfast was a bit under trained! But very nice.
we have stayed here before and again we had a fantastic time. Pub has a great atmosphere and the food is amazing. We travelled on a motor bike and were allowed to park it in the grounds of the pub off the street. Stayed in room Taw, large family room with tea, coffee making facility's.
nothing all good
Great breakfast. Good pub meal .
Slightly larger bedroom .
Nothing to dislike. Staff were excellent.
Great food,lovely beer garden
We liked everything about the property
Nothing to dislike
Very friendly place

Very nice inn! Rooms are very large and spacious. Staff are very kind and welcoming and the food (breakfast especially) is exceptional! Parking is easily accessible too

Quite and clean
Nothing to dislike
Friendly staff great room great food
Very friendly staff made to feel welcomed easy parking great views
The dog that kept barking and one more chair would have been nice
Everyone talks about the shower and we have to agree. Best shower we have had on our trip so far. We also had a great breaky, everything was delicious. Great little find
Could do with an update but great for what we needed.
Compact, convenient nice staff good flexible breakfast.
It was cold
We've had a wonderful time at the Poltimore Inn. The lodge was very clean and a stunning view. The breakfast was exceptional, the staff all very friendly and helpful. We also went to a stargazing night which we thoroughly enjoyed. Awesome observatory in the grounds of the Inn!
Overall we were pleasantly surprised with our overnight stay. The food was very good. The room was spacious and comfortable. Having wifi was a great bonus.
Cracking village pub. Good atmosphere within a traditional bar but then also a very pleasant dining room. Good pub food and local ales. Spacious accommodation, all exceptionally well presented. Great breakfast and friendly staff evening & morning. Local trails for exploring and local garage to fill up.
Could be seen as off the beaten track by some, not me. Cracking overnight stay
Enjoyable one night stay at The Poltimore Inn. Friendly staff, nice location, comfortable large bed and fantastic powerful hot shower. Breakfast was excellent and Andy’s poached eggs were top notch. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
Excellent access and availability of food and drink
Could do with a facelift but otherwise good
Lovely comfortable room, great ambiance in the pub. Excellent breakfast, good quality ingredients.
The location was excellent as was the breakfast. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable as were the beds. The staff were as friendly as ever and the whole experience was extremely enjoyable.
There was nothing we didn't like about this recent stay. It was every bit as good as our previous stays.
Lovely location Great friendly staff even though they were very busy nothing was too much trouble. Fab and fun
Not that I didn't like it maybe a note of caution Friday music night is busy noisy raucous and great fun. If you're looking for an early night and some peace and quiet stay in one of the lodges whatever you do don't miss out on a great place. Recommend the venison mmmmm
Great hot shower and beds. The room was clean and had a lovely aspect. The pub is obviously a much loved hub of the community. Lovely and hospitable staff. Good full English breakfast in the morning.
Nothing. We loved it all.
The breakfast chef was super lovely. The view from the dining room was lovely and the room was lovely.
On turning up parking was a nightmare! After 5hrs drive and upon finally parking I tried checking in. A lady called Sarah briefly acknowledged I was there and that was that for 10 mins. A lady then came to the bar to pay her bill and was instantly served. Sarah then went to pour another local a pint. Still ignoring me waiting. Finally she only had me and not locals to deal with. Rude and ignorant is lit the word. She then took me to my room which was a hike up stairs so if youre of any disabilities then not for you. Also later on the landing was dark and no lighting working. Dangerous. The noise from the downstairs bar is horrific. One local found the need for his own self importance and swearing was every other word and continued for hours. Disgusting foul mouth. Later I went for evening meal and a much better bar lady and a good meal but again the loud mouth local was on full form. I gave up and tried to go bed but noise is horrific. If you’re after quiet this is not the stay for you. Also notice a stain on the wall that looked like dog pee in the bedroom.
Comfortable room with friendly staff, the restaurant food was excellent with generous portions.
Nothing
The food was lovely.
My bed was a little hard and there was no milk or teabags in our room twice. A bit of a walk to get ourselves.
The food was lovely! All locally sourced produce too.
We had to ask for milk and tea twice whilst we were there. The beds were a little hard too in the outside apartment where we stayed.
