Emplacement exceptionnel tout proche de la ville et pourtant isolé au milieu de montagnes. Un séjour époustouflant face à cette vue incroyable. Tout était parfait pour nous.

Nous avons beaucoup aimé le panorama, dans un site très naturel. Les propositions qui nous ont été faites pour les visites ont tout été très bonnes. Le chalet est confortable et propre. Nous avons apprécié l'accueil qui nous a été réservé par Hars et sa femme. Mais le soir je suis désolé l'établissement correspondait-il à vos attentes

Nous aurions aimer avoir des sièges plus confortables pour admirer la magnifique vue chez hars garden. Par exemple à un hamac ou des fauteuils auraient été les bienvenus et pour manger une table avec deux chaises ne seraient pas du luxe.

Hars Garden è un posto davvero speciale, immerso nella natura e con una vista mozzafiato. I tramonti da qui sono semplicemente spettacolari e rendono ogni fine giornata un momento indimenticabile. Le stanze sono curate in maniera stupenda, con grande attenzione a ogni minimo dettaglio. Sono bellissime, accoglienti e dotate di tutto ciò che serve: non manca davvero nulla. Si percepisce in ogni angolo la cura e la passione con cui questo posto è stato creato. Ma ciò che rende Hars Garden ancora più speciale è Hars, il proprietario. È una persona di una gentilezza e disponibilità rare. Ci ha organizzato tutto alla perfezione, consigliandoci i posti più belli da visitare e aiutandoci sempre con grande attenzione. Grazie ai suoi consigli abbiamo scoperto una Sumba ancora più autentica e speciale. E poi la cucina: colazioni e cene buonissime, preparate personalmente da Hars con prodotti freschissimi del suo orto. Tutto è genuino, curato e preparato con grande passione. Un luogo autentico, bellissimo e pieno di atmosfera, dove ci si sente davvero accolti. Se venite a Sumba, Hars Garden è assolutamente un posto da non perdere. Un soggiorno che ricorderemo a lungo.

Exceeded my expectations. Solo female traveler here. The property is beautiful and Hars and his wife are very accommodating. Food was organic and delicious, and the accommodation was so comforting I felt right at home. This was my favorite stay on the island

Firstly, Hars the owner is a great host. His attention to detail is excellent and he really looks after his guests. He will organise tours to mainstream places but also to spots that are beautiful with no tourists. His accommodation is unique and to his credit, he designed and built it himself. It is super clean and comfortable, The breakfast and dinner are prepared fresh and were delicious. The view of the hills are breathtaking and we never got tired at admiring the view .It is a very quiet location with only the sounds of his horses occasionally neighing. All in alll, a very unique and memorable experience.

-Hiking trip: we did a hiking trip with Hars for 650'000 rupiah. The first half of the hike was very nice, in the nature and villages. However, the second half (~2 hours) was along the road leading to the hotel. To be honest, we did not expect that such a big part of the hike would be along roads and cars. -Secret waterfall trip: the same day as the hiking trip, Hars suggested we go to his "secret waterfall" (which you can easily find on Google Maps and is not as secret as mentioned) for 250'000 rupiah for a 15 minutes drive and 5 minutes walk from the hotel. We think it would have been better and more honest to give us the name of the waterfall (Langira) which, for the biggest part is easily accessible by scooter. -Some improvements could be made on the room such as the mosquito net (which had large holes in it), a protection from the sun outside as there was no place to sit in the shade (especially for breakfast) - Coffee at breakfast should be included in the breakfast and not additionnaly billed (especially if you grow coffee!)

Absolute Traumlage! Bucht die grosse Hütte, es hat mehr Lüftung und ist ein wenig komfortabler. (Wir waren in beiden Hütten.) Essen dort ist gut, allerdings sollte man fragen ob man mehr bekommt falls man grossen Hunger hat und es kostet auch. Für und hat es aber gepasst. Der Betreiber erzählt gerne seine Geschichten- hier sollte sich aber jeder selbst sein Bild machen... Wir würden aufgrund der Lage und Sauberkeit wiederkommen!

Hars je jeden z lidi, ktere v zivote chcete potkat. Jeho pristup k organickemu farmareni, zodpovednosti k okoli a komunite a tak vubec je opravdu prinosny. Predevsim skveli lide. Nadto skvela strava, ubytko a uchvatny vyhled, zvlaste kdyz chytite zapad slunce.

Le site de Hars est juste incroyable ! Les 3 lodges sont face aux collines qui s'étendent à perte de vue. Splendide au lever et coucher du soleil. Calme et sérénité se dégagent de cet endroit. La chambre est agréable et le service de Hars au top ! Sa cuisine est délicieuse et il nous a concocté un petit circuit sur 3 jours où il nous a montré des cascades, site typique, plages magnifiques... Il nous a même conduit à notre hôtel suivant. Merci Hars pour votre disponibilité et gentillesse. Je recommande fortement si vous cherchez une expérience unique !

La nourriture était bonne et la vue sur les montagnes assez exceptionnelle. Les hébergements sont très beaux et assez bien aménagés pour profiter des couleurs du lever et du coucher de soleil, ainsi que de la nuit étoilée.

Nous avons été extrêmement déçus par le staff et l’équipement, surtout après avoir lu les éloges sur cet endroit. Le propriétaire des lieux était absolument inflexible, en plus d’être arrogant. Il laisse ses chiens en liberté dans tout l’espace même le soir, ce qui fait qu’ils ont mangé une partie de notre dîner. Après lui avoir demandé d’emmener ses chiens autre part pendant que nous dînions le deuxième soir, il nous a simplement ri au nez en disant que c’était la nature et qu’on devait faire avec. Le matin, sous prétexte de s’intéresser à nous et nos activités, il a interrompu notre petit déjeuner interrompu pour vendre ses activités et s’auto congratuler de son « eco homestay ». Heureusement, le reste du staff a relevé cette expérience en étant très souriant et bienveillant. Pour finir, l’écologie ne justifie simplement pas le manque d’eau, d’autant que tous les homestays qui nous ont accueillis à Sumba étaient tout aussi écologiques. Il était impossible de se doucher et nous n’avions pas d’eau à disposition (l’endroit étant relativement isolé, il faut prendre ses précautions).

Hars Garden is an extraordinary natural retreat, lovingly created and run by Hars. If you want to be fully immersed in nature, this is the place. You won't find Wi‑Fi here. Instead, you'll get spectacular views of rolling hills and the ocean, unforgettable sunrises and sunsets, dreamy starry nights, and delicious organic meals, cooked by Hars himself using produce from his garden. Every moment here was bliss. We felt warmly welcomed and were able to explore many beautiful spots around East Sumba during our stay. The villa is simple yet comfortable, with running water and thoughtful, charming details. There’s a mosquito net (but never saw mosquitoes in the villa), and no fan or AC (but nights cooled pleasantly). What truly stands out is how Hars has created everything on the property himself, from building the houses to planting and nurturing the vast range of trees and plants. Walking around, you can feel the immense passion and hard work that has gone in to bring this place to life. It's truly inspiring to see the positive impact a single person can have! Our thanks to Hars and Bram for a wonderful stay - we can’t wait to return!

We had a really nice two night stay at Hars Garden. The location of the accommodation is superb! The views are amazing! We booked a very fun half day tour with Hars to see the secret waterfalls and a viewing point. At night he prepared us delicious dinners. The breakfasts were also very good. We recommend visiting Hars Garden when in and around Waingapu!

For me this is the Sumba Experience, A unique location, & very well put together accommodation, Sunrises, Sunsets, Good Food, Great atmosphere, peace & quiet. Supplied in the Best Possible off the Beaten Track Way by Hars & The Boss. (only joking). Visit a few local places of interest or just mostly chill as I did.

Hars and his wife have created a beautiful place to stay. The location is stunning, overlooking Sumba’s mountains. The accommodation is unique, fun and comfortable. The food that he provides was incredible! It’s so great to see such an eco conscious place, with all the food grown on site. And the hosts are kind and helpful. I highly recommend.

In slechts vier jaar tijd heeft hij deze plek van kale rots tot een groene oase omgetoverd. Fruitbomen, kruiden, bloemen. Alles zelf gezaaid en gestekt. Ook de vier accomodaties heeft Hars zelf gecreëerd. We hebben genoten van dit alles. De maaltijden zijn met liefde en passie bereid. Alles fris uit eigen tuin. Een ware smaakbeleving. We arrived late in the evening and the owner ,friendly and hospitable,fixed us a delicious welcoming dinner. We especially liked the spacious bathroom with its sculptural wooden towel hooks. Wonderful to be surrounded by nature with an amazing view of green rolling hill.

Es gibt grundsätzlich nichts, was mir nicht gefallen hat. Hars und seine Frau haben auf dem Hügel, nicht weit der Hiliwuku Hills ein Paradies geschaffen, das stetig wächst. Hars Garden liegt ca 20 Minuten außerhalb von Waingapu. Die Straßenverhaltnisse sind gut, sodass man gut durchkommt. Ich selber habe diese Abgeschiedenheit und Ruhe sehr genossen. Der Sternenhimmel ist faszinierend und Hars bereitet auf Wunsch ein exzellentes Abendessen zu. Ich habe dort nichts vermisst.

Es gibt dort weder Klimaanlage noch Ventilator. Mir persönlich hat es nichts ausgemacht, ich habe ab dem späten Nachmittag bis morgens zu allen Seiten die Türen und Fenster geöffnet, sodass ein wenig Luft reinkam.

This was simply the best experience we had in Indonesia ! The accommodation was amazing, we even got to sleep under the full moon on the rooftop for two nights. The sky was stunning, and the view in the early morning was breathtaking. Breakfast was made with love, using fresh fruits and other ingredients from the garden, absolutely delicious! After breakfast, Bram, the owner's nephew, showed us around the garden and all the beautiful things it has to offer. In the evenings, we gathered around the fire with Bram, who shared our stay with us. He showed us around part of the island, taking us to wonderful places, each more beautiful than the last. We even had the chance to enjoy a night with live singers at an open café-restaurant. We laughed a lot and shared so many great moments together. This place is a true haven of peace, run by passionate and kind people. We will definitely be coming back! Thank you for everything, Bram ! And thank you for your lyrics too ! ;)

Il proprietario Hars è una persona molto gentile e disponibile, prepara colazioni e cene tipiche davvero molto buone con i prodotti del suo orto e offre servizio trasporto per visitare le bellezze di questo luogo incontaminato.

Luogo d'incanto. Tutto è curato nei minimi dettagli, ovunque rivolgi lo sguardo incontri bellezza. Colazione e cena superlative. Questo è un posto veramente speciale.

Außergewöhnliche Unterkunft mit außergewöhnlichem Gastgeber! Sehr zu empfehlen, wenn man die Natur liebt und mal abschalten will. Hars hat uns jeden Tag Tipps gegeben und außerdem tolles Frühstück und Abendessen zubereitet. Auch eine Tour durch den Garten durfte nicht fehlen. Alles war super, und wir werden uns an den Sternenhimmel erinnern ;)

Everything! It was clean, and the bathroom was spacious! So cool how Hars is building everything himself on his property. The view of the mountains is just… wow! I stayed for two nights, but I easily could’ve stayed longer. Breakfast was also delicious, with fresh fruit from the garden! The fact that there’s no air conditioning might take some getting used to, but I slept really well — the breeze flows nicely through the room thanks to the way it’s built. I’m very curious to see how things will look in a few years with all the plans Hars still has. It’s hard to imagine this place becoming anything but a hidden gem!

We stayed at Hars Garden in Sumba and had a truly unforgettable experience. Hars, the owner, picked us up from the airport and even took us to the beach to watch the sunset, where we had a simple but lovely meal (pick up and beach tour we paid 350k IDR). Hars himself looks like he walked straight out of a National Geographic documentary—completely in tune with nature, just like his accommodation. We arrived after sunset in the dark, and due to heavy rain, the solar panels were damaged. We had about 1.5 hours of electricity from a generator before everything went off—including the water pump for the shower. Staying here is a real adventure. You sleep almost outdoors in charming wooden huts with many little gaps where insects can easily find their way in. Hars even had to save us from a big spider that first night! The hut had everything we needed, except for a fan, which would have been nice as it was quite warm. One of the absolute highlights is the night sky—you can see the Milky Way clearly because there’s no light pollution. And waking up in the morning was magical: the view stretches out over the mountains all the way to the horizon. Breakfast was absolutely incredible—Hars puts so much effort into it and explains everything about the property and the island. He can also help you arrange a driver if you want to continue exploring Sumba. Highlights: everything eco, surrounded by pure nature, Hars himself, the amazing breakfast, the breathtaking view.

Downsides: the mosquito net was a bit small, and there was no fan. Important to know: when you book here, eco really means eco—there’s no air-conditioning, no WiFi, and sometimes no electricity. But in exchange, you get the real, untouched beauty of Sumba.

We had an amazing stay at Har's place. The location is nothing short of dreamy, with amazing views of the valley hills just in front. Har has constructed all the houses (I recall around 3-4 now) by himself, you can check on his IG for more detail on how he built them! All of them are really comfortable and unique, following the local architecture, blending with nature and each of them providing a different experience. Har is an expert and consultant on organic farming and produces his own veggies that he uses to cook the most fantastic breakfasts you will ever have, super yummy and different everyday, with the plus of overviewing the views directly from your stay. Don't forget also to order dinner from him, much better than eating anywhere else, every meal was amazing. Har always went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable, showed as around his plantation (he plants to reforest the area with a thousand fruit trees!) and the best: he gave us the best tips on the island, pointing spots that are not even in Google Maps and ready to explore. Think on pristine waterfalls, empty beaches, beautiful local villages, hills, etc. Please visit Har and Sumba before it gets ruined by the evils of mass tourism, and please visit with an open mind, it's raw, wild, authentic, and that's why is missing facilities compared with other destinations, but that what make it so unique and special. Thanks so much Har, we cannot wait to visit you again, cannot wait to see your new creations, houses, farm and forest!

Har has a few lovely dogs that are playing around, all well behaved, but take that into consideration in case you are not fond of cute dogs craving for some petting ;)

Hars Garden is located on the beautiful hills of east Sumba. The view is spectacular. Hars is an amazing host who likes to share his ideas of a true ecological lifestyle, which includes his fabulous garden, that also provides fruits and veggies for your brekkie. Don't be alarmed by the lack of electric air-condition, there's a breeze on the hills that keeps your cute house cool at night. We stayed three nights at Hars Garden and were very well taken care of. Hars knowledge about the surroundings and east Sumba is a source not to disregard.

Hars hat mit seinem Obstgarten ein kleines Paradies auf einem Grat mit grandioser Aussicht errichtet. Er ist ein super herzlicher und hilfsbereiter Gastgeber, der seine Gäste viel an seinem Wissen über Botanik & ökologischem Anbau teilhaben lässt. Ausserdem ist er ein fantastischer Koch. Was er aus seinem Garten zubereitet, findet man in ganz Indonesien nicht! Wir sind gleich 5 Nächte geblieben & werden diesen Ort im Herzen behalten.

Hat uns zwar nicht gestört, aber man sollte sich bewusst sein, dass es kein WiFi und nur beschränkt Strom gibt. Somit auch keinen Ventilator. Brauchten wir aber auch nicht, da auf dem Hügel immer ein Lüftchen wehte.

A perfect place for anyone looking for some peace & quiet without modern conveniences. The place has an amazing view and is conveniently located. Comes with tasty breakfast (and other pre-ordered meals) using ingredients sourced from the owner’s organic garden. 👌🏼

This place is magical! It really seems to be in another world beyond descriptions. Try it if you dare but you need the right spirit.

Mon plus beau moment à Sidemen et durant mon séjour d'un mois en Indonésie en connexion totale avec la nature. Ici l'excellence prend tout son sens. Le propriétaire et sa famille sont aux petits soins et ont pensé aux moindres détails qui font toute la différence (tapis de yoga, chargeur GSM, eau-cafe-the-biscuits à disposition, mini bar et frigo, amplificateur bluetooth de musique, coffre fort sèche cheveux, ...). L'endroit est calme car excentré de la route (accès par un sentier pittoresque). Le petit déjeuner est excellent ainsi que les repas livrés sur place à prix démocratique. Location de scooter qui facilite les déplacements. Une nuit dans les étoiles...Quel bonheur d'être réveillée par le chant des oiseaux et de pouvoir admirer le lever du soleil de son lit. Merci Gede.

We had a wonderful time at Har's Garden. The location is beautiful. Everything is very personal and Har shared so much interesting information with us and made unforgettable trips with us. The accommodation is really only recommended for nature lovers. But we were thrilled and will definitely be back.

Hars nous accueille personnellement dans son eco-lodge situé à 600m d'altitude avec une vue sublime des montagnes se creusant sur un canyon verdoyant avec une vue très au loin de Waingapu et de la mer. Arrivez avant le coucher de soleil, et levez vous vers 5h30 pour son lever! Les légumes du dîner ou petit déjeuner sont très savoureux, jus et thés maison très inventifs, le tout avec une recherche de l'esthétisme. Hars va même jusqu'à proposer certains soirs de passer un moment à regarder les étoiles autour d'un feu de camp. Nos filles de 21 et 18 ans et nous mêmes avons beaucoup apprécié. Enfin, Hars peut vous conseiller de magnifiques endroits à découvrir autour de son lodge et vous y conduire. Nous espérons pouvoir revenir prochainement, quand sa forêt d'arbres fruitiers aura grandi!

Las vistas eran increibles sobre todo para la salida dem sol y la puesta de sol. Hars es muy amable y atento y nos preparó un desayuno y cena deliciosos. El lugar es ideal para desconectar y disfrutar de la natrualeza de Sumba.

Tener en cuenta que el agua funciona con placas solares por lo que a primera hora el agua de la ducha sale fresca, aun así disfrutamos muchísimo!

Apart from breakfast, food was a bit of a problem. The place had nowhere to prepare food. While solar power is an excellent idea, teething problems mean occasionally there was no power if Hars wasn't there to start the generator. The breaking of the peace by small children ... an age limit might be an idea.

Hars est une personne passionnée qui a un rêve qu’il tente avec force vigueur et conviction de mener à bien. Construire une oasis de sérénité sur le terrain dont il a fait l’acquisition. La détermination de cet homme souriant est aussi impressionnante que la vue qu’il offre à ses invités. Ses petits déjeuners sont délicieux, élaborés avec ce qu’il récolte de son travail. Nous avons également eu la chance de goûter au dîner 2 soirs et à chaque ce fut excellent. Ses cabanes son feu de camp sa guitare tout est parfait si vous venez chez lui pour trouver un peu d’évasion par rapport au monde en effervescence dans lequel nous vivons. Merci Hars pour cette accueil et ses 4 nuits fantastiques hors du temps.

Il faut clairement venir chez Hars comme dans un home stay et non un resort. La literie n’est pas optimale, le confort de résume à son strict minimum mais là n’est pas l’important dans ce havre de paix

Nowhere to put clothes

Waanzinnige locatie met prachtig uitzicht. Hars is een proactieve, creatieve, enthousiaste man, die een heerlijk ontbijt met producten uit eigen tuin voor je klaar maakt in de ochtend.

Het beddengoed en de klamboe waren iets klein voor het bed. TIP: neem oordopjes en een slaapmasker mee. Wij werden in de ochtend vroeg wakker van de haan en de ochtendzon en konden gelukkig gebruik maken van beiden. Dit hoort natuurlijk allemaal een beetje bij de ervaring.

Hars is a very nice person, always willing to help and share his knowledge. He goes out of his way to make sure you have a good time on his side of the island and is very proud of his land and the organic farm he is building. He cooks dinner for you if requested, for a reasonable price and you get whatever is ripe from his garden. The food is good and plenty. We were a bit scared of the lack of ac, but indeed it was not necessary. Wind runs through the cabin and keeps it fresh at night. A net over the bed will keep the mosquitos away. It is also located quite close to a stunning hill with a great view and some hidden waterfalls Hars might share with you. It is certainly a different experience and one worth having.

Remember there is no wifi and even the data connection is really spotty so be ready to be away from the world for the time you stay there. We missed an additional spot in the place to just hang out and read a book as our cabin had only the bed or the floor, but we also never asked, so there might be some corner of the property we might have missed. Also be aware there may be a few wild visitors, even inside the cabin. I guess it's part of the experience.

The most extraordinary and beautiful stay we’ve experienced on the island. Hars welcomed us with care and showed us his beautiful garden and unique plants that are growing there. He is a genius gardener that makes everything grow effortlessly on the lava rock (Sumba island is a pure lava rock). Hars made us organic meal with what was grown in the garden. Our view from the palapa was a killer! So as the night sky! Hars made us campfire, played guitar for us and showed us how to use tripod for night photo shooting. It was incredible! Hars and his amazing garden will stay in our memories forever. 🙏🏻❤️ If you want to relax and truly enjoy the nature, you must stay here.

A truly unique experience. A breathtaking view from every bungalow. The owner Hars has created an organic paradise where 80% of all the meals come straight from his garden. Hars and his Japanese wife are fantastic hosts and organised everything for us including transport to and from the airport , bike hire and three organic meals a day. On top of that we got to learn lots about real organic farming techniques and the special island of Sumba… thanks Hars we will be back.

特に景色とご飯が最高でした。宿のご夫婦が優しく、ツアーを色々アレンジしていただきました。 Especially view from the accommodation and cuisine are fabulous. Owner couple is so kind and arranged various tour for discovering east Sumba.

Todo me gustó mucho. Desde que llegas te sientes bienvenido porque Hars es un verdadero host 10*, su amabilidad y sonrisa me encantó nada más conocerle y aunque llegué muy tarde me había preparado la cena. El alojamiento es sencillo y cómodo con una amplia y cómoda cama. El baño muy completo. El desayuno sabroso y saludable. Las vistas maravillosas. No necesita ni aire acondicionado porque se duerme con las puertas abiertas y fresco. Muy recomendable por la relación calidad/precio y cercanía a Waingapu, además te alquila su scooter para ir a la playa walakiri o dónde quieras ir.

the place was so unique and authentic with an amazing view, the owner was so nice and welcoming, helped us out with everything we needed and made us delicious breakfast and dinner everyday

Hars garden’s is a jewel in the middle of Sumba. from the perfect hospitality Har gave us along our stay, to the location and view itself up to the cozy sweet little cabins and villas. we were at cloud 9. need less to say the food was really good, the rental bikes were in great condition and Sumba is a magical place. we will definitely come back in a few years.

First, you will be welcomed by the best owner and his wife and super cute dog. And the island of Sumba is an amazing island. So, you can feel strongly alive and people with the most beautiful smiles. I'm grateful that i was able to do all the activities i wanted to do. It's a very special place that I would definitely like to visit again. This trip is a treasure for me.♡

If i hard to choose, it would be even better if they have curtains at the entrance to bathroom.
