The warm Canadian welcome made us feel right at home, they went above and beyond to help us feel comfortable, assist us with getting ready for a wedding nearby, and gave amazing recommendations. I would absolutely stay here again, and I think you should too.

Reviewed Jan 24, 2026This property was immaculate with everything we needed for a week long stay and more . It is tastefully decorated and comfortable to live in. It is in the most beautiful location with a vast and gorgeous beach that we walked most days. The bed was sublime. The BBQ, the night sky, the fire pit and the engaging and wonderful hosts and their scrumptious dog all contributed to making our stay revitalising and unforgettable. The location provides both a peaceful retreat and a base to navigate the countryside North of Wellington . Highly recommended!!!!!
There is nothing not to like. We were sincerely sad to leave.

Reviewed Dec 8, 2025Friendly and responsive host and nice wee location a stones throw away from Welly. The place was fully equipped everything for the weekend, paper towels, gladwrap, olive oil. The only thing we needed was food. The milk, a few snacks and sparkling wine was a lovely added bonus. Very happy with the R&R in Waikawa.

Reviewed Apr 19, 2025Very well equipped kitchen and the fire pit was good. Marshmallows provided. Great outdoor space, BBQ and furniture. Plenty of hot water. Key safe entry worked well as the owners were away. Coffee plunger provided.
Mosquitoes hit at dusk so needed to close up room and spray inside. No screen on the door so couldn’t benefit from fresh air after dark. No reading lights or bedside tables. Owners were away so not able to get a tax invoice to use to claim against Salary Sacrificing. Excited that there was a coffee plunger but the coffee provided had no flavour or smell.

Reviewed Mar 17, 2025Absolutely enjoyed our 2 night stay at Waikawa Beach Pod. The Pod is beautifully set up with all the amenities you require. We were generously welcomed with home baking and a bottle of wine. Set in tranquil country surroundings you can enjoy the indoor/outdoor flow and the beach close by. The beach is excellent. Richard and Christine our hosts are a lovely, welcoming couple. Loki their dog was also adorable. If you are looking for a space to unwind, relax, to breathe in the peacefulness we fully recommend the Pod. This gem is not for party-goers. It is a place of serenity.
