Sands Grand

We had a wonderful family vacation at the Sands Grand Hotel on Dhigurah Island. We were warmly welcomed and well taken care of by the staff there, especially by Thuwan, whom we grew very fond of and remember fondly. Always helpful, kind, eager to assist and cheerful, he made us feel as if we were staying at a friend’s house. We hope to return to this place someday, because we were captivated by the wonderful scenery, the crystal-clear water and, above all, the friendly people. Thank you very much!

The staff were quite attending and nice, the breakfasts were good.

Very hard bed, the smell of the water was terrible - I checked in other places on the island and did not encounter this issue, the photos show some view from the window - in fact we had a staircase view, the 4* standard given by booking is far from the reality - overall the standard is quite poor. They charge you 5$ per person per ride to the bikini beach (one way!) so for two people both ways it sums up to 20$ which is way overpriced for this kind of service (everywhere else in Maldives it was free as a courtesy of the hotel for the guests).

Que viendo en Booking que había habitaciones disponibles nos dijeran que estaban completos.obviamnte reservamos por Booking y nos dieron la habitación,no lo entiendo... De la foto, a la habitación que nos tocó, una cueva...el agua caliente no funcionaba.preguntamos por una excursión en concreto y nos dijeron que no porque era dia de rezo, y luego resultó que si había habido excursión.el día de marchar salíamos pronto y como teníamos desayuno incluido nos dijeron que nos preparaban un picnic, se lo podían haber ahorrado porque era una vergüenza

Manager and reception staff are friendly.

The towel, bedsheets, table, bathroom, shower are dirty. Pillow has mold on it. Faucet almost broke. For the price we paid, we expect the room is at least clean.

Unfortunately because of a cyclone i was not able to stay at the property but the owner still helped us with the ferries and logistics. Would reply quickly to queries and with useful information (which was not the case with other hotels). Did get to see the property briefly and wished I had been able to have stayed there.

Bohužel voda v pokoji strašně smrděla a když jsme to sdíleli s majitelem, řekl, že to tak je a ať to vždy necháme 15 minut odtéct. Během toho ale začal z té vody smrdět celý pokoj a fakt to nebylo příjemné, i zuby jsme si čistili pitnou vodou, protože to se nedalo… Nevím, zda to byla jen smůla na pokoj, ale měli jsme porovnání s o polovinu levnějším ubytováním, kde čistota byla stejná, personál také milý a voda hlavně nesmrděla…

In tutta l’isola c’è questa regola per cui servizi ed escursioni possono essere prenotati solo con il proprio hotel/guesthouse. Abbiamo dovuto insistere per organizzare un’escursione che non veniva offerta nei giorni in cui abbiamo soggiornato e il prezzo a volte era più alto rispetto ad altri posti

La cosa più bella è la terrazza dove si faceva colazione. Impagabile!

La stanza era bella e grande ma un po’ all’ombra per cui un po’ umida.

Freundliches Personal. Zimmer werden tgl. von super freundlichen und zuvorkommenden Angestellten gereinigt und wir haben tgl. 1 Glasflasche (!!) Wasser bekommen. Ein Wasserspender zum Nachfüllen gegen Bezahlung wäre toll - würde den Kauf unzähliger Plastikflaschen in den kleinen "Supermärkten" und somit Müll vermeiden. Große Zimmer, die jedoch renovierungsbedürftig sind (z. B. bei der Duschkabine fehlte eine Schiebetür komplett, Spiegel kaputt). Schöne kleine Gartenanlage. 1 Minute zu Fuß vom Anleger des Speed Bootes (Begrüßung direkt am Pier - Gepäck wird bei Bedarf durch ein Taxi ins Hotel gebracht), ca. 10-15 Minuten zum Bikini Beach und Gebiet mit den Restaurants, kleinen Supermärkten und Souvenirshops. Taucherbrillen, Schnorchel, Flossen usw. können gegen Gebühr geliehen werden (5US Dollar/ Tag). Strandhandtücher gibt es kostenlos. Hotel bietet Massagen und organisiert Ausflüge, Speed Boot für die An- und Abreise usw. an. Kooperation mit eine guten Tauchschule (Island Divers - zu finden im TME Retreats Dhigurah). Frühstück war gut und abwechslungsreich. Das Abendessen können wir nicht bewerten, da wir dort nicht gegessen haben. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist gut.

Wir hatten leider keinen guten Start mit dem uns zugewiesenen Zimmer (Nr. 103). Es lag direkt neben der Rezeption und war nachts entsprechend laut. Vom gebuchtem Gartenblick war nix zu sehen (Ausblick auf eine Mauer), aber nach mehrmaligem Nachfragen konnten wir dann das Zimmer wechseln, dann war es für uns gut. Das Restaurant im 2. OG schließt um 21 Uhr. Vielleicht sollte man die Sitzecke vor der Rezeption ins Restaurant verlegen, damit Gäste dort gesellige Abende verbringen können, ohne die Gäste der an die Rezeption angrenzenden Zimmer "wach zu halten" (in unserem Fall nach der langen Anreise. Wir haben um 0:30Uhr Nachtruhe "eingefordert".) Die Dachterrasse ist komplett verdreckt und wird anscheinend nur von Tauben genutzt, was sehr schade ist. Da steckt viel Potenzial, das leider nicht genutzt wird. In der Nachbarschaft sind gerade viele (Hotel-) Baustellen, aber dafür kann das Hotel nichts. Wir hoffen nur, dass diese Insel Ihren tollen Charm durch zu viel Tourismus in der Zukunft nicht verliert.

Chambre spacieuse et bien décorée ! Nous avons profité des massages offerts avec notre réservation, c’était formidable ! Le petit déjeuner maldivien était très bon. La réceptionniste était très sympathique et accueillante.

Hôtel un peu loin de la bikini beach. Il n’y a pas de vraie option végétarienne pour le petit déjeuner (ils m’ont proposé des cornflakes). La location de vélo dans l’hôtel est plus chère que dans d’autres endroits de l’île.

The location and the Wi-Fi were good

The room wasn’t very clean, broken toilet seat, bathroom window that wouldn’t open, bed uncomfortable. Never anyone on the Reception, they give you number to Call and then they don’t answer or respond to texts. I’ve been looking forward to this trip for a long time, and I’m afraid the Hotel was a letdown.

Die Lage und Ausstattung der Unterkunft ist hervorragend. Das Personal ist äusserst nett. Whaleshark und Manta-Tour haben wir über das Hotel gebucht und war top… Sie haben mit Drohnen nach den Tieren gesucht und waren entsprechend erfolgreich. Allgemein wird sehr stark ein Servicegedanken im Hotel gepflegt. Würden wieder kommen.

Frühstück ist okay aber nichts spezielles. Preis der kombinierten Tour Whaleshark und Manta könnte noch transparenter aufgeführt werden.

From the very first impression when we arrived at the port from our ferry to the birthday surprises and final goodbyes, Sands Grand I can highly recommend! The staff were super friendly and accommodating for every need. Our bedroom was decorated for our friends birthday before we arrived and again on her actual birthday plus balloons and chocolate cake! Our room was cleaned everyday, being provided with fresh shower and beach towels as well as drinking water. The breakfast was great too! The location is okay, a short 10/15 minute walk to the bikini beach with many tourist shops, beach food carts and restaurants dotted about the island. Excursions are easy to book through hostel and are brilliant value for money. A huge shoutout to Ali Shaheen who is the general manager and a friend for life, we can’t thank him enough for his kind heart and warm soul. We will definitely be coming back and recommending to every body! Thank you so so much Sands Grand!! xx

The room was clean and big with a fridge and a kettle. Breakfast was delicious. Owners very kind. However there was a leak in the bathroom resulting in a wet floor for my entire stay ( they gave me some towels to put on the floor)

No hotel water is available

Stayed here in Dec 25 as a family with 1 child. Great stay with very friendly staff and clean rooms. The beds are clean and the staff truly do their best to make sure you enjoy your stay. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner at their restaurant, which is very convenient. We really enjoyed our stay. The only downside is that the mattresses are very hard and not very comfortable.

Das Hotel ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Einiges war bei unserem Aufenthalt (noch) defekt oder notdürftig geflickt. Es ist davon auszugehen, dass die entsprechenden Unterhaltsarbeiten geplant sind oder nun schon umgesetzt wurden.

La verdad no me ha gustado nada.

Lo primero que vimos al entrar en la habitación fue una cucaracha enorme muerta, y no tuvieron la delicadeza de compensarnos el mal trago. El colchón de la cama es súper duro, imposible descansar en esa cama. La limpieza no era profunda, había polvo, y la mampara del baño o la grifería estaban sucias. El baño olía a fosa, y las tuberías hacían ruido. El desayuno incluido es pobre, por llamarlo de alguna manera, después tuvimos que ir a desayunar en condiciones a otro sitio. Intentamos cenar la primera noche pero la comida no estaba buena. También alquilamos dos bicis a 10 dólares por bici un día entero, como solo teniamos euros y no podíamos pagar con tarjeta nos cogió los 20 euros sin darnos cambio, porque decía el chico que euros y dólares son lo mismo cuando no es verdad, salimos perdiendo. Las bicis están viejas, oxidadas, sin frenos, súper incómodas así que apenas las cogimos. Además, cuando ya las habíamos devuelto y ya estábamos acostados para dormir me escribe el chico de recepción que me había cogido los 20 euros, para que pasara por recepción para pagar las bicis. Un despropósito todo. Menos mal que solo estuvimos dos noches. No lo recomiendo para nada. Es muy caro para lo que ofrece.

Veškerý personál byl velmi milý a ochotný, se vším nápomocný, exkurze super, hezky zorganizované, pokoje čisté, úklid super. V "centru" ostrova, přesně na opačné straně než bikini beach, chůzí 20 min, možnost půjčení kol. V tomto směru nemám co vytknout👌👍

Velký problém bylo jídlo. Od plne penze bych očekávala alespoň nějaký výběr jídla. Tady jste měli každý den to samé. Snídaně na výběr omeleta nebo francouzský toast. Oběd a večeře se točilo na výběr smažená rýže s kuřecím nebo smažené kuře a další varianta byla těstoviny nebo smažená rýže s tuňákem. Vařili skvěle, to ano, ale když jíte týden 6 jídel dokola je to špatné. Hotel doporučuji, ale bez stravy, plná penze se rozhodne nevyplatí. Všude kolem spousty restauraci, kde se najite za pár korun.

We spent here 1 week with my family and would return at any time. The staff is really friendly and kind, breakfast and dinner were always tasty and the waiter was always very polite, the excursions are organized very professionally and are highly recommended. The rooms are spacious and clean and even if we had problems with e.g. the AC, it was taken care of right away. Shaheen, the manager went above and beyond to feel ourselves relaxed, he even helped to get my lost luggage back, which he was not forced to do. We had very well organized excursions with both him and Yoosuf. I recommend both the whaleshark and the manta tours, they were very honest about what to expect but we were taken care of the whole time, even when a lot of people were surrounding us. I'm not sure about other hotels, but here we really felt they are happy to have us. I hope Sands Grand will have a bright future, they deserve it!

The staff were exceptionally friendly. They helped us with everything. There is a restaurant on the second floor of the hotel where the food is very good. The manager was extremely friendly! Our bed was very comfortable, and the accommodation is in a good location, about 200 meters from the harbor. God bless every member of the staff, and we wish them all their dreams come true!

Que bajamos a las 9:30 y no pudimos desayunar con nuestro bebé, cuando en toda la isla siempre pudimos hacerlo incluso a las 11 am 😢 y el agua caliente le costaba en salir

El personal del hotel es encantador, siempre atentos a cualquier necesidad. Habitaciones amplias y limpias. Nos alojamos con media pensión, merece la pena, desayuno y cena muy buenos. La ventaja de alojarte en Dighurah es que puedes hacer snorquel en la orilla de la playa, el arrecife está muy cercano por lo que no es necesario contratar la excursión, y el tiburón ballena se encuentra por esa zona, por lo que hay que desplazarte para realizar la excursión. Yosuff siempre nos aconsejó muy bien en todas las actividades a realizar.

Las actividades tienen un previo elevado, pero como en todo Maldivas.

i would definitely recommend this hotel as a great place to stay, brilliant communication from shaheen and yoosef before my trip with all information regarding excursions, and what to expect coming to a local island. they made everything easy to book in and supporting us each day with great excursions, i recommend all of the excursions!! we saw manta rays, sting rays, nurse sharks, we did lots of snorkling, (they have flippers and masks there if needed and life jackets so i didnt feel scared on any excursion! they also used their go pro to film some cool videos and shared them for free, very nice) you can tell the captains on the excursions look make a big effort to find the sea creatures and to go out on the sea and that we are safe there! thank you again!! the hotel booked the speed boat transfer and made it easy. they have an option to rent a motorcycle which we did to get around the island quickly, we enjoyed going to the sandbank and watching the sunset. they have a restaurant on site, food was limited due to availability on the island which is normal, every meal was good, and they suggested many places to go around the island, we like the tea pot restaurant, absolute thai and aveli. all staff are lovely, from the kind guy who cleaned our rooms everyday to the guys in the restaurant, and again special thank you to shaheen and yoosef. they also made a special moment on our first day, by decorating the bed and bringing out a birthday cake for my boyfriend on the first day which just started our holiday in a beautiful way. thank you guys!!

Very clean and well equipped room with everything you need. Bed was comfy, all was as seen on the pictures. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They organized a snorkeling trip for us (highly recommended) and toom care of everything we needed. Tip: Book the room including massage.

Our stay at the Sands Grand Hotel was amazing, from the first moment with the complimentary drink until the very last. The staff was exceptional, everyone was super friendly, helpful, and always made sure we had everything we needed. We felt like at home during our stay at the Sands Grand Hotel. The room was spacious, with a comfortable bed, and the breakfast was delicious, offering everything you could need: eggs, fruits, local dishes, juice, and always water, which was regularly replenished in the room. Additionally, the room was cleaned every day, with fresh towels provided daily. The excursion we took through the Sands Grand was perfect, the underwater world is incredible here, and the hotel manager personally took care of us, making sure we saw as much as possible. The island itself is a paradise on earth, with long white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters. There are plenty of restaurants and shops as well. So, thank you once again to the entire Sands Grand Hotel team, it was an amazing experience. If we return to the Maldives, we will definitely choose this hotel again.

A lovely hotel, very calm vibe with outdoor reception room covered in plants. All the staff seem genuinely happy here and all made the effort to chat to me. They made me feel at home straight away. I think this is a great price for a hotel on such a beautiful island. I extended my stay, and would highly recommend booking! Also recommended arriving by sea plane, incredible view of the island as you land in. (Sit on the left side of you can)

Hotel's restaurant makes good food but difficult to find slots during which they serve à la carte.

The accommodation was excellent, and as described. The room was a good size, very modern, and had a clean bathroom with an excellent shower. The breakfast was great with a good selection and great coffee/tea. They also had some really good options for dinner and a really great chef.The location was also decent as close to the ferry port. My favourite part of the hotel was the staff. The manager, Shaheen, and the team were fantastic! They were always helpful and cheerful and would be there to organise any trips (Whale Shark, Manta Ray's, etc) and would even come with you on the trip to make videos. I cannot recommend this hotel enough if you are staying on this island.

In the first room we were given on the ground floor, the smell of sewage was unbearable. We've spoke with the staff and they change the room with one on the 1st foor. Here was a little better but still smelly. The mattress was so hard that we woke up in the morning with back pain. Not very good located, it's a lot of walking to find a bikini beach. At least 20 min

The staff is good but not all of them can speak English, are polite and very helpful. The room is big and seems clean. Breakfast is reasonable, with a variety of choices.

The smell in the room is quite dam and humid but looks clean. Our room is right in front of the stair which has quite big traffic. Food from the restaurant is always not available, only few options because of limited supply. Difficult to find the front desk during the day.

The staff was very helphul. We got also 15 minutes of massage,drinks(cola,water) included. Everything was as expected. We had a wartrobe place in the room. I would especialy like to make a compliment to the manager of the hotel.

It was wonderfull experieance at Sands Grand hotel and the Dhigurah Island was vary nice and beautifull. Hotel Manager explained about the Island and guest House and instructed nicely. Guest house staff were vary helpfull and room cleaned organized properly.

The food, the breakfast times that are not compatible with diving excursions, the staff while cleaning went through my personal stuff and moved it into my luggage, a bit far from the bikini beach

The room was nice and quite big. It was serviced and fresh towels were left every couple of days; they also provided additional towels for the beach which was a nice touch. Fridge was a nice extra touch to keep water cool. The staff, particularly the ladies in the restaurant, were very nice and friendly. The food was great and quite cost effective. I ate in several other places on the island but actually preferred here.

Comfortable and clean place in a quiet area of the island. Walking distance to bikini beach. Fantastic staff that accomodated all our wishes and gave us a lot of information about the island and the environment. Also worth recommending if you are into snorkeling or diving - apparently we got better prices than people on the boat (who booked directly), there was always someone from the hotel accompanying us and we got fantastic GoPro recordings of the shark whale that we met :)

Food options were rather limited, but it was very beginning of the season. The staff did their best to prepare what we liked the most.

the team that runs the hotel are absolutely outstanding. professional, caring, kind and thoughtful. We felt like family, so taken care of. The air-conditioning and Wifi were also excellent.

Great view from the rooftop terrace and our room, friendly staff, spacious room, good location, food was tasty and they made local food on request. Breakfast was plenty and diverse.

Rooms are dated (but apparently will be renovated this summer). the property is lacking attention to detail. most rooms do not have a nice view (but ours did). Food was tasty but for dinner mostly western food choices (but they made tasty local food on request). We could hear the music (bass beat) from the rooftop terrace on our room (but they only play it during mealtimes)

I stayed here for two days as part of my trip around the Maldives. The staff were incredible in every aspect and went above and beyond to do their best. Local information, tips, support and guidance could not have been better. The room was large and very spacious with a nice work station. There was an issue with the internet but it was resolved immediately which was great for me as a digital nomad connectivity is essential. The excursions were incredible organised and ran by the hotel and we got to see mantras and whale sharks. The trip to the sandbank is a MUST and I highly recommend taking the hotel shuttle for a few dollars unless you fancy the 1 hour walk in the sun. The food was great with very generous portions and I will happily stay here again should I return to Dhigurah

Hotel in a good position close enough to the bikini beach and perfect for visiting the island with its beautiful Sandbank. Fairly spacious room with a large bathroom furnished with good style. Bicycles available for rental and availability of the structure for organizing excursions.

Wifi was not working in the room, noise from neighboring rooms and from the kitchen above, refrigerator that does not cool much, large but hard bed, fan in the room not working, intervention required to make it work, intervention not done, buffet at breakfast and dinner with very little choice, certainly not enough for a 4 star hotel.

Very poor breakfast and weak dinner. I would not recommend to eat at his hotel at all. But, on Dhigurah not many other options... Poor wifi. No warm water.
