Fresh air in between village. Good location if you want peaceful outing. Good for introverts. Cleanliness. You and your luggage will be safe. Good location to explore whole Auroville. Temperatures are lesser than main city so comfortable. Staff is very helpful and supportive, always active. Anytime anything you want they'll provide you politely.

Far from city life and beaches. Disadvantage for extroverts. Not much good eateries nearby. Plugs/switches not working properly. Hard to find switches for lights and fans in dormitory. Cupboards not provided in dormitory but luggage remains safe.

The supportive staff. Raju and the owner were very supportive. They were receptive to suggestions and took good care of my needs.

The toilets were clean but there were no bathroom slippers available. The beds looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a while. There were hair strands from those who previously stayed. The bed was an open one with no screen or blinders to cover. So privacy was a concern. But the staff being very supportive, I'm certain they will take this feedback in the positive sense and make necessary changes.

The property is located near matri mandir with amazing sunset lake view. The host Krishna help me in all the ways for exploring auroviile. After visiting property I came to know they have good couple rooms next time I will stay with my partner for sure. All staff are so helpful they don't neglect what you require in service. Must stay place and Thankyou Funk Monk Team for making my trip so comfortable.

I had booked this hostel for 6 days. It is hardly 1 to 1.5km away from Visitor’s Centre. Room was clean and staff members were very polite and helpful. ☺️Host Mr. Krishna is a very kind man and suggested many good places to explore. Quite affordable. Good cafes are around. There is a fun activity room as well in the property to chill. Vibe of the property is so calm. ☺️

I spent 2 nights at Funk Monk hostel, in the female dorm, which was cozy and clean (doesn't get too hot inside). I was the only guest in the dorm, staff was very attentive and helpful. The place is close to the Auroville Visitor Centre and you can have an amazing pizza at Laxmee, which is walking distance. Wifi works fine and there is lockers in the dorms though I did not use them (a key is needed).

Raju, Ram and Krishna were all super helpful, friendly and attentive, offering suggestions and ideas and helping with anything they could. Great roof terrace space to watch sunset and rise or lightening storm in the distance. Also small shop with essentials, water, treats, etc., very close by. And ability to hire bicycle to get around Auroville (scooters available too).

Occasional AC issue, only a challenge as it was 36+ degrees in the day.

The dorm was super clean and comfortable with AC, hot water and wifi for an amazing price - the ac did not work the first day so they moved me to a private room with ac and fixed the ac in the dorm the next day! I was travelling in the off season so there were no other female solo travellers in my dorm however this meant I had it all to myself, I was meant to stay for 3 days only but I really liked the property and felt very safe here so I extended one more before having to leave. The staff were extremely friendly and were there to help/ answer any questions all the time, also when the ac did not work the first night they were quick to have a resolution, additionally any time they drove past me walking on the road they offered to drive me back to the hostel which was so kind:) And on the final day I was able to get a lift to pondicherry with one of the guys also! It is only 10/15 minutes walk to the visitor centre of auroville and there are many restaurants on the road nearby too and a little shop right on the corner of the hostel for quick snacks/ drinks etc. I really recommend this hostel and would definitely come again if I was back in the area - thank you guys for everything:)

It s was really nice. I was feeling at home. Communs spaces are really nice and people who are working here really take care about you. It's close to the visitor center. Have a beautiful stay 😊

They have the best terrace with lake views, amazing interrupted stargazing. Krishna and Ankush go beyond their ways to help guests, very thankful for that. The stay was very welcoming and chilled out. There are cats and dogs too for you to play with!!

Nothing major but small suggestions In the female dorm, my bed was creaking maybe it will disturb other guests. Mosquitos enter room from bathroom so something to be done about that

I've discovered a true haven! The attention to cleanliness is impressive, with staff and management alike dedicated to maintaining impeccable hygiene standards. They truly deliver on their promise, and I've never seen a cleaner establishment, even at twice the price. The breathtaking sunset views are an added bonus. The kitchen's spotlessness and commitment to serving only fresh, non-frozen food further elevate the experience.

Amazing place to stay! They genuinely care for their guests and made a memorable stay there.

I loved my stay at this hostel. The staff really made my experience enjoyable and relaxed. They arranged an auto pick up when I got off the bus, and offered me recommendations for the area, as well as providing very useful tips on Matrimandir visiting times. They were genuinely nice to chat to as well. I stayed in a 5 bed female dorm. The room was basic, but had everything you needed. There was a fan in the room and an air conditioning unit (although this was not switched on). There was also hot water in the showers. The hostel had a cool chill out room, and also a rooftop where you can watch sunset. Although it was cloudy when I was there. The hostel can also provide breakfast at a small cost, although I didn't have it. There is also a puppy and couple of lovely cats roaming around! The location was fantastic - 15 min walk to the visitor centre, a small shop and cafe next door, and restaurants within a 15-20min walk.

The dorm room did feel slightly damp, but this is due to the weather - although it could have been slightly improved with the air conditioning regularly turned on. This is more of a suggestion for the hostel to keep the air conditioning on for a set amount of hours during the day. Although I do understand the need to save energy. Another suggestion could be to have chairs and seating on the roof, but you can easily carry chairs upstairs. There really wasn't anything major to dislike.

Manager was very nice 🙂 and helpful.he also helped me to arrange Scooter for rent and also dropped that place.and staffs were welcoming and helpful

Bathroom could be more cleaner and there should be Toilet Paper atleast also please give descent Bedsheet for Guest 🙏

very nice place, very clean, everything working. our host arranged a taxi to the airport for such a low price I didn't expect possible. when the taxi didn't come, he took us himself. best place during our stay in india nice lake view

I stated at funk monk and had an absolutely wonderful experience.They took care of me from the moment I arrived at the pondicherry .. Krihsna brother not only provided the basic customer services ,he did his best to ensure the travellers who don't know the place well to have a pleasant trip . The staffs were very friendly and helpful and they ensured hygienic food and cleanliness of the place .The location of this place was amazing with beautiful sunset ,sunrise points from terrace with nature giving us visual treat and the lake view in the evenings.The common place was so peaceful and I had opportunity to meet many new people .The overall standard of the hostel and the exceptional service from the staffs was second to none .I will certainly be staying here again ❤️❤️.

.Apart from all the good things; We actually booked for the dormitory as we were only staying for the night. But the dormitory was horribly mess. Eventhough they maintain every other room clean, They failed to make sure the dormitory girls kept the room clean. Its important that they keep it clean bcz its not a private room its a dormitory. There were all types of clothes and their things everywhere even in the floor . It was such a mess that we couldn't even stay there for 5 minutes. So we had to pay extra for getting a private room . It was a nice big and clean room but for that money we actually expected atleast a real handwash or soap. We weren't informed about the checkout time and we didn't know about their rules. We thought it'll be as usual 24 hrs stay. We couldnt complete our itinerary as the owner kept calling and we had to cancel all the plans. So it happened to be a unpleasant part of the trip for us.

It was a really nice, calm and safe environment. Clean surroundings. staffs were also friendly. Good parking facility for 2 wheelers. Bed sheets, blanket and pillows felt super fresh. Very close to matrimandir, serenity beach.

Great location to Auroville. Great value for money. I stayed in the mixed 4 bed dorm. Krishna the owner was fantastic in recommending places to eat nearby. The rooms were clean and the aircon was great. Can rent scooters for 350 rupee too. Laundry is also available. Plenty of water bottle filling stations too. Hot water was great in the shower.

Only negative was the other guests who were staying in my dorm. They arrived both nights after 12am, but besides that I slept really well.

The place was super nice, and the room we stayed in was called "Peace." You've gotta check it out because it has one of the coolest sunset views ever! It's like the lake is glowing with golden light—it's magical!

Amazing stay for Backpackers 🎉🎉

The Place was good. I went in Off Season, so no other travelers like me were there. Place has 2 kitten, Tira and Misu, they are sweet. Krishna, the host, was very friendly. Place gives in house Breakfast Lunch and Dinner too, and Amma makes amazing food. Property has terrace so, sunrises and sunsets are easily visible.

Sometimes i felt like, The Owner was bit rude towards the staff. I mean, okay but it still felt bad. Otherwise, i loved the place. Will go back once i come back to Auroville

My partner and I loved our stay at Funk Monk Hostel. Krishna, who runs the establishment, is incredibly helpful as are the rest of the staff at the hostel. The rooms were very clean and all the basic facilities like A/C, washrooms, hot water etc. were functioning properly and in good condition. I especially liked the "no outside slippers" rule inside the hostel because it shows a commitment to maintaining cleanliness here. Jogee, the in-house dog, and the cats that call the hostel their home is a beautiful addition to the space. They also serve clean, fresh food which was an added bonus. One thing I'd suggest is to have more desks/side tables in the rooms as it makes storage easier.

Great little place to stay in Auroville. Good price, good facilities, and amazing staff. The location was pretty good, close to the visitors centre and walking distance to most things.

All the staff was very kind, welcoming and helpful. Good crowd mixed of Indians and internationals in the hostel. Location close to Auroville Visitor's Centre, where you can get information and start activities. Good dinner for reasonable price. Balconies and roof top.

Cleanliness of dorm bathroom could be better, but hey, let's be realistic :) it's a dorm bed for 400 after all

I loved my stay at Funk Monk Hostel! I felt so comfortable day in, day out. Everything is so neat & clean like I haven’t experienced it before in whole India. The location is situated in a very calm environment just 5 min away from the visitor center by bicycle which made us sleep so well. Apart from that, the owner Krishna is a very helpful guy and has many tips to offer about what to do in Auroville. The food in the hostel is tasty and cheap. Would definitely come back, if was here another time! :)

There was nothing I didn't like.

The stay is neat and clean. The dorms are very cozy and feels like home. Prices are very reasonable and amma serves delicious and homely food. Staffs are very friendly and co operative. I would surely recommend this place if you are looking for a peaceful and budget friendly stay in auroville.
