Fabulous staff, especially the young man who was there all the time. Fantastic and generous breakfast. amazing location right on the beach. Generously provided free bottled water, tea and coffee 24/7.

Some of the hotel was a bit more rundown than I realised it was going to be, but it was a fabulous stay none the less.

Skvělý hostitel Thomas, dostali jsme jeden večer večeři zdarma a byla výborná. Zařídil vše co bylo potřeba od půjčení skútru, až po vyprání prádla. Nádherný výhled na oceán a ten klid!!

Ruhige Lage, einsamer Strand , trotzdem jederzeit möglich ein Auto oder Tuk Tuk zu nehmen um wo hin zu fahren. Service ist großartig. Frühstück (frisches Obst, Eier, getoastetes Brot, Butter, Marmelade, Smoothie) ist super. Auf Wunsch kocht der Chef am Abend (würde ich nächstes Mal jeden Abend buchen). Das Essen schmeckte großartig. Wir (2 Erwachsene mit 2 erwachsenen Kindern) würden die Unterkunft zu 100 Prozent weiter empfehlen.

Прекрасные завтраки - фрукты, тосты, чуть масла и джема, кофе/чай, два яйца в состоянии на выбор (вареные, жареные, омлет, скрембл). Прекрасные ужины (особенно рекомендую стейк из тунца, филе баррамунди, и креветки). Приветливый персонал. Например честно говорили, что у них сегодня свежайшее (охлаждённое), а что замороженное. Бассейн! Очень приятно в нём охладиться. Бассейн чистый. Приятный вид из номера на океан. Его действительно слышно, но засыпать под шум океана - кайф. Фото - ниже. Чистота в номере и в отеле вообще - уборка каждый день. В целом - приятная околодеревенская атмосфера. Дорогу скорее не слышно, нам по крайней мере не мешала.

По умолчанию закрывают вход/выход в отель в 11 (или чуть раньше) вечера. По умолчанию - то есть если не предупредить. Номер подуставший, но это не критичный минус - скорее дополняет около деревенскую (в хорошем смысле) атмосферу. Напор холодной воды в душе слабоватый. До купабельной части бухты (где волн поменьше, если смотреть на океан - то справа) идти метров 500. Курение только внизу, на балконе нельзя (это в принципе нормально, но для сведения курильщиков).

Das hotel liegt direkt am Strand von talalla. Von meinem Zimmer hatte ich einen schönen Blick auf den Strand und das Meer. Das Zimmer war sehr gut ausgestattet mit allem was man braucht und den Aufenthalt angenehm macht. Das Zimmer wurde jeden Tag gereinigt. Überhaupt ist das hotel sehr sauber. Das Frühstück war außerordentlich fein und üppig. Ich habe auch meistens abends im hotel gegessen. Das Restaurant ist schön, das Essen sehr fein und die Bedienung äußerst freundlich. Tagsüber steht ein wasserkocher, Kaffee und Tee kostenlos zur Verfügung. Es gibt auch lauschigen kühle Plätze am Pool um die heißen Stunden zu überbrücken. Am Ende des Strandes ist ein Schildkröten schutzprojekt und es ist möglich frisch geschlüpft Schildkröten beim ausbringen ins Wasser zu beobachten. Ich habe auch einen schönen Kochkurs bei Samudra gemacht. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Es gab nichts zu beanstanden am Hotel. Das Meer ist zum teil sehr rauh und nicht unbedingt zum Schwimmen geeignet. Es gibt aber am einen Ende der bucht einen Platz wo es ruhiger ist.

Ein sehr nettes kleines Hotel, in bester Lage, direkt am Strand.

A wonderful hotel with a very charming owner. The breakfast was incredibly delicious and plentiful. A huge plate of wonderfully tasty fruit, fresh juice, coffee, tea, eggs cooked to your liking, and bread. The bread was so delicious that I couldn’t resist, even though I don’t usually eat it. The hotel owner sometimes prepares dinner. We ate his grilled tuna steak. The best I’ve ever had. It’s a shame he doesn’t cook dinner every night, because we definitely wouldn’t have gone out or looked for a place to eat. A beach of stunning beauty and absolutely amazing ocean waves. They were big but not dangerous at all, so we had a lot of fun swimming. We’d come back here every year if only the flight weren’t so long.

Tolle Unterkunft direkt am fast einsamen Strand von Thalalla. Schöner kleiner Pool. Die Zimmer mit Balkon zum Meer haben eine Traumhafte Aussicht. Sehr gutes Frühstück, tolles Brot, leider ist das Restaurant abends nicht immer geöffnet. Einmal haben wir einen Fisch dort gegessen und der war sensationell. Sehr freundliches Personal.

Die große Bauruine nebenan. Vor allem der Baulärm von den dort Eingezogenen. Das Meer ist sehr wild, starke Strömung und wer es ruhiger mag, der muss ans Ende des Strands laufen.

The most peaceful place to stay. You can literally hear the waves from your room, which has an amazing views by the way. The breakfast was super, we also have dinner, we were able to asked what fish we wanted and they got it from the fisher and cooked for us. Big thanks for the owner and young man who helps him. We had a lovely stay.

The bathroom needs a bit of maintenance but nothing major.

Die Aussicht und Lage am Talalla Beach war phänomenal! Wer Ruhe und einen nahezu unberührten Strand sucht, ist hier genau richtig! Das Hotel-Team war sehr freundlich und bei jeder Frage zur Stelle. Auch das Frühstück war hervorragend - sowohl die Speisen als auch der Platz am Pool mit Blick direkt aufs Meer.

Leider ist nachts die Klimaanlage ausgefallen und/oder wir waren zu doof sie zu bedienen... Dadurch, dass im Bad nur ein Klappfenster ist, wurde hier immer wieder einiges an "Palmendreck" hinein geweht. Dennoch absolut empfehlenswert!

J’ai adoré la chambre avec deux grandes portes fenêtres ouvertes sur l’océan. Le personnel était très sympathique. La nourriture et le petit déjeuner étaient très bons. Je me suis vraiment senti bien dans cet hôtel qui incite vraiment à la détente La plage de Tallala est juste magnifique, possibilité de se baigner sur le côté droit La piscine pour se rafraîchir est un vrai plus. J’espère y revenir prochainement

This family-run hotel has an amazing setting, right on a very quiet beach. Meaning you are able to walk from the restaurant straight on to the beach. There also plenty of sun longers that you can use for free on the beach. The breakfast was excellent, with an abundance of fresh fruit provided. The dinner options were also delicious. Highly recommend if you are looking for a more relaxing and quieter vibe than Mirissa.

The bathroom could have been slightly cleaner, but not a major issue in anyway.

Absolute prime location. You fall asleep to the sound of the waves and wake up overlooking the sea. Thomas the owner is very kind and was always super helpfull. Also he is an exzellent cook. So make sure to try also the dinner at the hotel. Thanks so much. We had a fantastic stay.

Dieses Hotel mit Charme besticht durch seine fantastische Lage direkt am Strand und seine ausgezeichnete Küche! Auch die Nutzung der an einem idyllischen Garten liegende Terrasse und gratis Tee und Kaffee am Nachmittag sind wirklich sehr willkommen.

Die Ausstattung ist schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen, d.h. es nagt der Holzwurm an und in den Möbelstücken! Schade, dass man der Instandsetzung und Pflege nicht mehr Zeit widmet! Dieses Hotel hätte es wahrlich verdient.

Great hosts lovely place and the food is incredible.

Great location, beautiful quiet beach Spacious room with balcony overlooking the ocean the sound of the waves crashing was lovel and turtles came onto the beach at night to lay eggs.There is a hatchery at the endvof the beach and they regularly release the hatching to the sea. Thomas the owner was really helpful and arranged a morning trip for us to swim with the turtles at a nearby beach. There were snorkel and boogie boards for guests to use free of charge. Nice size pool to cool down in. Food was excellent, the fish in particular was outstanding, we tried other restaurants but Thomas's food was easily the best we had. The staff were very friendly and always willing to help. Bus stand and tuk tuk outside the front of the hotel if want to go further afield. Free tea, coffee and water all day.

First of all you can’t help but be blown away by the beautiful view of Talalla Beach. The location directly on the beach is stunning. The property has a lovely ambiance. The room was very clean & comfortable with everything we needed. Breakfast was excellent. There are a couple of restaurants on the beach but the food served at the hotel was some of the best we’ve had so far so would highly recommended eating in. Mr Thomas and his staff were friendly and welcoming making it pleasurable place to stay. Thoroughly recommend

Prachtige plek. Heerlijk ontbijt en je kan er prima eten. De tonijnsteak was voortreffelijk. Erg vriendelijk personeel. De ligging zo direct aan het strand was heerlijk. We hadden best een nachtje langer willen verblijven.

Unterkunft direkt am Meer mit phantastischer Aussicht vom Balkon. Ja, die Wellen sind nachts zu hören, aber dafür hat man den Strand direkt vor der Unterkunft. Besser geht es nicht. Das Frühstück und Abendessen war außerordentlich gut. Kaffee, Wasser und Tee ist jederzeit verfügbar. Das Personal ist super freundlich. Die Liegen am Strand sind kostenlos und sind schön weit verteilt für absolute Ruhe. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Talalla Beach Bay was a scenic stay. You’re right in front of the ocean, with your own private swimming pool and direct access to the beach — you can literally walk from the hotel straight onto beautiful Talalla Beach. There are great food options nearby, including a cozy dog coffee place right next to the hotel that even has Starlink internet, which was perfect for working. The owner is incredibly kind, and the staff genuinely make you feel welcome and cared for. The rooms are simple and you can hear the ocean clearly at night — so either bring earplugs or embrace the sound of the waves. Our first night’s sleep wasn’t the best because of that. It’s a three-star hotel, and you can see that, but they put so much love and effort into everything that it truly made the stay special.

Amazing stay in this Little paradise. The food was amazing, we were alone on this beautiful beach…. It was amazing thanks again for everything!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Thomas’s place. It was clean and relaxed. You could go straight onto the beach from the hotel and there were plenty of sunbeds. The pool was nice and clean. The beach was beautiful and quiet - what a gem. The breakfasts and dinners made by Thomas were delicious and copious. Everything was fresh and really nicely cooked. From large platters of fruit in the morning with eggs any way you wanted them done to delicious fresh tuna and lovely curries in the evening - this was by far the best food we had in our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. A nice touch was the free water, tea and coffee we could help ourselves to all day. We really enjoyed our stay

Perhaps a rail could be put up in the wardrobe in the room. Coat hangers were provided but we had to hang clothes on the frame of the wardrobe

Direct aan het strand. Kamers met uitzicht over het strand. Bedjes en parasols op het strand. En het diner is echt heerlijk. Personeel erg behulpzaam en vriendelijk.

Daar je aan het strand zit is het geluid van de golven, in de nacht, heel hard. Waardoor de slaap vaten wat moeilijke was. Maar daar kan de eigenaar niets aan doen.

Vieta nėra nauja, bet radome viską ko reikėjo. Puikus personalas. Labai skanus maistas, visas vakarienes valgėme vietoje - ypač patiko tuno kepsnys. Šalia nuošalus paplūdimys, mažai žmonių, viešbutis suteikia gultus ir skėčius. Vakarais galima rasti vėžlių netoliese. Jei kažkam reikia miestelio šurmulio, su daug parduotuvių šalia - čia ne ta vieta. Jei norisi ramybės - tobula vieta.

It’s clean, peaceful and has an incredible staff. Drinking water, tea/coffee and frukt availible for free. Breakfast with a lot of fresh fruit, omelett,/eggs and bread + tea/coffee. You can borrow body boards. Thómas and his staff takes extra ordinary care of every guest!. A great place to stay if you enjoy a guide and peaceful environment. Turtle hatching on the beach in the night time.

A lovely beachfront hotel with incredible ocean views from the balconies. Sun lounges are right out front, plus there’s a pool if you feel like mixing it up. It’s an easy walk to local restaurants, though you may not want to leave as the owner is an incredible chef with years of hospitality experience in Australia, and the included breakfasts are abundant and delicious. There’s also a good café next door, and Talalla Retreat just up the beach for yoga drop-ins and day spa treatments. A wonderful base with everything you need close by, an including a nearby café supporting street dog healthcare. Make sure you check out the fishermen bringing in their catch just after dawn.

Läget är fantastiskt och utsikten mot havet oslagbar. Men se till att du får ett rum vänt mot stranden. Mycket god middagsmat, bland det godaste vi ätit på resan.

This place was PERFECT! Beautiful beach with a few wonderful little restaurants. The rooms are all lovely and beachy, and you can stare at the sea from your bed. The host went out of his way to make our stay comfortable, and we loved that we could help ourselves to tea and coffee anytime. We were able to get a Tuk-Tuk to busier beaches within 10-15 minutes for surfing. Highly recommend.

If you want a busy beach setup with loads of restaurants, bars, hotels and activity, this might be too quiet for you. We wanted a bit of peace and quiet so it was perfect for us.

Staff were unbelievably accommodating. Food was tremendous and the view from the room was stunning. We eat in the hotel both nights. The tuna was amazing. We loved listening to the waves breaking every night whilst laying in bed

Unbelievable location. Local swimming with turtles and free use of body boards.. Absolutely delicious breakfast. Freely available coffee and water. Very helpful hotel staff and amazing evening meals-especially the catch of the day cooked by the very talented Thomas.

Some traffic noise but mainly counteracted by the sound of the sea

This place is fantastic. You can literally hear the ocean as you fall asleep and it's on a secluded beach. Breakfast is great and the staff are extremely attentive, kind, and you can tell they enjoy hosting guests. On most nights, dinner is also available and is very tasty and fresh. Pool is great, the balconies all have great views. There is AC in the rooms, but the sea breeze is generally good enough to stay cool. Great place to relax.

Ett mycket vänligt bemötande från Mr Thomas och hans personal. Helt suverän frukost. Stora fina rum med havsutsikt. Jättebra lunchrestaurang vägg i vägg och fantastisk middag på hotellet (där Thomas lagade maten). Mycket fisk & skaldjur. Högst rimlig prisnivå. Lugnt område, med strand utan trängsel. Gratis solstolar på stranden för hotellets gäster. Under tre veckor var det vågor de flesta dagar. Ok att bada i vågorna alla dagar utom 2-3 dagar då vågorna blev för stora (då fick man doppa sig längre in). Fin strand att promenera barfota på (ca 2-3 km lång).

You can’t beat This location , very quiet beach , beautiful , local vibe . Restaurant food (cooked by the owner) is really tasty and at a reasonable price .

Hotel is old and rusty , needs renovation. For us wasn’t a big problem. Bear in mind windows have are not soundproof so you’ll here the sounds of the ocean all night ;)

The food is exceptional. The chef has a 5 star hotel background and it shows. Quite simply the best fish I have ever eaten. If you stay, and I thoroughly recommend it, don’t bother trying anywhere else to eat.

Everything! Thomas the owner, and his staff are so friendly and can’t do enough to make it a very enjoyable place to stay. The breakfasts were outstanding, especially the fruit selection. Thomas is an amazing chef and his evening meals were superb. This was our second visit here and we are sure we will be back again 😊

Thomas and the boys at the hotel were so kind, welcoming and helpful. We both enjoyed the facilities and the location, the breakfast was very good and we enjoyed the fresh fruit that was available each morning. Gourmet dinner with exquisite fresh seafood pasta, a generous breakfast, clean refreshing infinity pool beautiful accommodation and decor with a dash of local and Australian heritage, Beautiful location with a choice of local cafes and restaurants on the beach in season. A beautiful beach with big waves. Left and right hand breaks and safe body surfing on the western end. Also a thriving fishing fleet working off the beach in traditional outrigger paruwa and motor boats

Struttura sul mare, tenuta bene, staff super e gentilissimo.

Alcune mancanze per esempio non avevamo il phone in camera, non una vera doccia e una delle due sere la cucina era chiusa. Peccato che intorno non ci sia praticamente nulla se sei a piedi.

Super aufmerksames Personal, alle waren sehr hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend. Wir haben uns in der einen Nacht die wir im Bay Beach Hotel waren sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Aussicht vom Balkon ist wunderschön und das Frühstück war auch sehr lecker.

Wunderschöne Lage, der Ausblick vom Zimmer ist einmalig. Mitten am Strand von Talalla mit Liegen und Schirmen. Der Pool ist super zum abkühlen, da man aktuell wegen der Strömung im Meer nicht gut baden kann. Zimmer sind geräumig, grosse Dusche mit viel Wasser. Das Personal war super freundlich und nett, war immer zur Stelle wenn wir was brauchten oder fragen wollten. Jetzt ist off season und das soll man sich bewusst sein,trotzdem haben wir keinen Nachteil verspürt.Es wird das bestmögliche gemacht was in dieser Zeit zu erwarten ist. Wenn gewünscht wird das Zimmer gereinigt.Auf Vorbestellung hat man uns ein super gutes Nachtessen gekocht. Frühstück war lecker und sehr reichlich. Wasser darf man sich jederzeit bedienen. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen.

Nur Kleinigkeiten, wie die Grösse des Bettes (1.60) die nicht ganz unsere Bedürfnissen entsprochen hat. 1-2 Handtücher mehr für Gesicht oder Hände wären toll.

I enjoyed a peaceful stay at Talalla Bay Beach, and I would definitely stay here again. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, and as the hotel is situated on the beach, the sea views are wonderful! I also enjoyed listening to the sound of the waves at night whilst lying in bed. The owner and his son were kind and attentive, and they made my stay as comfortable as possible. I also really appreciated the large, freshly-prepared breakfasts, and particularly the fruit platter. Thank you for a lovely stay!

The balcony door frames are wooden, and there are gaps in the frame, so the bedroom became hot at night unless the aircon was kept switched on. As is the case for many guesthouses in Sri Lanka, the bathroom did not have aircon or a fan, and so was often hot and humid.

The location is phenomenal and the staff were so helpful. We forgot an item at the hotel and they messaged to let us know, and then held it for us as we were coming back. Overall a very nice experience and felt well taken care of the entire stay.

Had the loveliest stay at Talalla Bay Beach. The location was perfect for us, really quiet and the whole beach almost to yourself. The property is right on the beach and the rooms overlook the beach. The highlight was the service - all staff were amazing. We ate at the property for breakfast and dinner everyday and I would even go as far as saying it’s some of the best food I’ve ever had! The tuna steak was delicious and the prawns were amazing too. I always assume hotel food is sub par- but not here, better than any restaurant I’ve eaten at. Will definitely be back if I ever return to Sri Lanka!

Great staff, good food, and a spacious room with a good bathroom.

We had a brilliant time here, the location is amazing and you are able to walk straight onto the beach after your excellent breakfast. It was lovely to have use of the pool and to be able to make tea and coffee! Thomas and Yasindu are wonderful, we want to thank them very much for being so kind and helpful, they have really looked out for us and made us feel so welcome. Thank you!

The hotel has a great location. Right on the beach, and you always have a direct sea view (from the balcony, while dining, and from the loungers right outside). The service at the hotel is really nice and friendly! The food was also delicious. They were always helpful and took good care of us. To be fair, however, the condition of the hotel must be clearly described: it needs renovation. The windows don't close all the way, the mattress is a bit worn, and the bathroom is small. The water doesn't drain well and it doesn't dry, so your feet always end up wet. The air conditioning doesn't work well. If you're happy with a simple hotel, this is the place for you, and I highly recommend it! However, don't expect a fancy bathroom, good air conditioning, and a new bed.

Talalla Bay Beach far exceeded my expectations—something I don’t say often. This is the kind of place where shoes are unnecessary, and the beach is just steps away from your room. I was lucky to stay in a top-floor room with an unrivaled view of the bay, falling asleep to the soothing sound of waves each night. The hospitality here is exceptional, radiating the warmth and authenticity of a true Sri Lankan welcome. From the moment we arrived, the host and staff made us feel completely at home. The beach itself is breathtaking—perfect for a scenic run, with sun loungers thoughtfully provided under large umbrellas. While the sea isn’t the best for swimming, it’s still great for a refreshing dip or catching a few waves. Dining here was a highlight. Thomas, the chef, owner, and host, curated an incredible menu that left us impressed, and the service was flawless. Breakfasts were equally outstanding—among the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka. This property is a true find, offering incredible value for money and an atmosphere of tranquility and romance—perfect for couples seeking a quiet retreat. Without a doubt, one of our best stays in Sri Lanka!

Absolutely Nothing

Location is perfect. Directly on the most beautiful beach, which guests have almost to themselves. Thomas was a great host. Great touches include unlimited free refrigerated bottled water and tea and coffee in the lounge. Also surfboards to borrow. Dinner was very good with emphasis on seafood and fish. We also ate at Funky banana along the beach, which was also good.

Some issues with A/C in room dripping if on for more than five hours. Pictures on booking.com not quite accurate as the unfinished building next door is not shown, but this didn't affect our enjoyment.

A true gem. The place is secluded enough to basically have a private beach you share with only a couple of residents of the beach house, each room has an open view of the seaside. At the same time the central location allows you to explore south of Sri Lanka from here. The host is kind and happy to help with anything. Breakfast is huge and delicious, they serve great dinner food as well. We loved everything about the place.

No complaints at all

Our second time here, it's a slice of paradise. Amazing location, fantastic staff and excellent room with a super comfortable bed. Thomas the owner is a brilliant chef who prepares delicious filleted fish dishes, amongst many other options. We really appreciate the free coffee/tea and bottled water that's provided downstairs, and the free sun loungers right outside on the beach are perfect. We can't wait to return.

Beautiful beach, unspoilt, magical. Not much in the way of entertainment, good for relaxing and chilling out. Food was excellent, big breakfast, and dinner both nights was fabulous and great value for money. Hosts were really great.

Food was some of the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka. We ate in the evening and breakfast was amazing .

Room is brilliant, large bifold doors giving uninterrupted views and sounds of the gorgeous beach and waves. Mosquito net on the bed means open windows 24/7 - best sleep ever. Fantastic food beautifully prepared. Unlimited tea, coffee and cold water always available. Great sunbeds and umbrellas. Everything is perfect.

Best place we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka so far! We loved staying at Tallala Bay Beach with the hotel being right on the beautiful beach and the rooms having a sea view. Thomas and his team were really welcoming, friendly and always happy to help with any queries. The whole atmosphere of the hotel was calm and relaxing, and the decor and art on the walls wonderful. Breakfast and dinner were amazing - such great fish dishes!! All was perfect, would recommend staying here 100% and would love to come back ourselves one day. Thank you!

Balcony doors to bedroom needed attention

The location was stunning, right on the beach, very quiet, very relaxing. Our balcony overlooked the beach, and we could watch sunrise. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the hotel provided hot drinks all day, which you could help yourself to. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Qn top of this the staff and Thomas the Manager were outstanding. This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in and we would not hesitate to return.

We loved our 5 night stay - the location is gorgeous and the staff are absolutely lovely. We had a really comfy four poster bed and big balcony. We would stay there again. It's great value and the food is really good. Pool is a nice addition.

The decor needs a bit of a refresh and there is a half built hotel next door which is a bit of an eyesore (but the main thing is that from this hotel and the beach immediately outside you're not looking at it!).

Absolutely fantastic, the location is amazing literally on the beach. We often slept with our doors open so you could hear the waves. There is free water, coffee, tea and juice available. Thomas the owner is also the chef, we ate there every night because his food is outstanding m. We will without a doubt to return, in fact we're missing it already.
