Lovely family, food was always delicious, loved spending time with the donkeys.

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour, ils ont été très flexible sur notre horaire d'arrivée tardive et le repas nous attendait! Les repas et petit déjeuner était très bon. L'expérience avec les ânes de la donkey clinic était très super nous avons pu les brosser 😁! Ils proposent aussi des excursions pour découvrir Mannar!

Bellissimo posto dove soggiornare, in piu il progetto Donkey clinic è davvero unico e interessante. La struttura è molto accogliente e i proprietari sono davvero gentili.

Die Idee dahinter hat uns besonders gefallen und es war schön zu sehen, dass es Menschen gibt, die sich auch um die im Bürgerkrieg zurückgelassenen und inzwischen verwilderten Esel kümmern. 🫏 Die Unterkunft und das Zimmer mit Bad sind einfach, aber sauber und der Preis total angemessen. Die Betreiber haben das Herz am richtigen Fleck, sind superfreundlich und offen für Fragen und Gespräche. Das Frühstück und Abendessen sind landestypisch, reichhaltig und lecker. Sollten wir wieder in Mannar sein, werden wir dort wieder übernachten. Wir wünschen euch und euren Team ganz viel Glück und viel Unterstützung bei eurem tollen Projekt!

My stay here was the absolute best. I ended up staying here for 9 nights because I loved it so much I didn’t want to leave. The room is spacious and clean. The food is also really good. Most of all staying here you get to experience the donkeys close up and all the other amazing work they do here (from providing education to supporting the local community). I loved getting to know the donkey closely and was able to groom them, spend as much time with them as I wanted and bought them bananas and carrots for treats which was so lovely to see their excitement. I was able to volunteer to help out during my stay which I can recommend as it was a really rewarding experience. Also Alhathir offers tours that take you all around the biggest sights of Mannar which I did and it was the best experience. The family and staff here are incredibly friendly and welcoming. I really recommend staying here if you want an authentic experience while supporting a really good cause. You might end up staying longer than you planned, just like me :) I have only just left and am already constantly thinking about coming back as I loved it so much.

Loved the donkeys, very quiet isolated place.Unfortunately the wife was not feeling well so she only managed to give us dinner for the first night.Stayed three nights so it was a slight inconvenience to have to go out for breakfast,lunch and dinner.However the family running the place we're really kind and even though not well they let me use the washing machine and even hung my clothes out because I was off getting breakfast.

Such a great way to learn more about the history of donkeys in Sri Lanka. Would recommend staying here instead of just visiting for a day. You can really see how much passion they put into the work, and the owners were incredibly welcoming.

You get a tour of the donkey sanctuary and can feed the donkeys. Had a lot of fun! Room was clean and breakfast was very good. Help these guys out, they are doing a great job with helping the unlucky donkeys and the local comunity. Very friendly and helpful owners who can also organise bird watching activities.

Le repas proposé était bon mais il manquait le "spicy" Sri lankais.

Charming place, particularly with the friendly donkeys. The staff are exceptionally warm and welcoming. The room was nicer than most, with good AC. Very quiet. It's about a kilometer from the main road. I enjoyed sitting in the outdoor area. I took a scooter from Mannar, and that is a great way to visit this whole area.

Les enfants ont adoré séjourner dans une clinique pour les ânes. Le jardin est clos et sécurisé c'est confortable en famille.

Nous n’avions aucun moyen de locomotion sur place et avons donc dû passer exclusivement par le propriétaire de la clinique pour tous les déplacements. Les tarifs pratiqués étaient clairement excessifs. À titre d’exemple : – Excursion à Talamannar (40 km aller-retour) facturée plus de 8 000 RPS – Transfert de la clinique des ânes jusqu’à Kalpitiya facturé 38 000 RPS, dans un van très inconfortable, où la moitié des ceintures de sécurité manquaient. De plus, la conduite du chauffeur était dangereuse, ce qui a rendu le trajet particulièrement stressant. Cette situation donne le sentiment d’avoir été captifs et surfacturés faute d’alternative.

This place is just amazing! The room is clean, comfortable and has everything you need. There is breakfast, lunch and dinner available which is just incredible. The whole team is super friendly and helpful, especially the owner. We got a presentation and tour of the donkey clinic and the work they do here for the animals. Their dedication to the donkeys is just incredible. Mannar is a really good place for birdwatching. With the tip of the owner on where to go we even managed to see flamingos. Can only recommend staying here!

I stayed for two nights and had a very nice time. Birdwatching in this area was my only interest. It's run by a lovely family and the owner turned out to be a very good birdtourguide himself. In the early morning he took us out watching in the nearby reserve. Furthermore the stay offered a basic room, motorbike rental to explore the rest of the island and probably the best cooked meals I tasted in Sri Lanka 🙏 My time here was well spend and the location is easily reachable by public busses and renting the motorbike was a good option for me to explore the rest of the island in one day. Value for money is outstanding. Oh, they have donkeys and I fell in love with them eventually and so will you...

Posto fantastico sia per la camera, il posto in generale e i servizi, sia per il progetto di salvare gli asini. Lo staff ci ha dato il benvenuto con una bevanda fresca e ci ha fatto una bella presentazione del centro e della situazione degli asini sull’isola di Mannar. È stato molto interessante. Gli asini sono tenuti benissimo e sono anche amichevoli. La famiglia può cucinare anche i pasti È la struttura perfetta per stare a Mannar.

Nice place to stay and explorer the city

Clean and comfortable room. Amazing delicious local food. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. Calm and beautiful property. And what these guys are doing for the Donkeys and other animals is just amazing. Support them and stay here, it's absolutely worth it!

Logement atypique, chambre d'hôtes dans une clinique d'âne, nous avons donc rencontré les ânes. L'hôte nous a très bien accueilli et expliqué ce qu'il faisaient dans la clinique.

Sehr schöner ruhiger Ort. Direkt bei en Eseln. Die Betreiber waren sehr nett und haben alles super erklärt. Das Essen vor Ort war super lecker!

The clinic is amazing, so are the hosts. It’s a bit of a random location on Mannar Island with all points of interest about 20-30 minutes but so worth staying here a night or two. They also made us brilliant food and the room was super comfortable too.

Ładny i zadbany teren, gospodarz odprowadził po posesji i opowiadał o osiołkach. Bardzo ciekawy projekt i warto go wesprzeć. Minusem jest to, że ośrodek daleko położony, ale mieliśmy tego świadomość, mieliśmy swój środek transportu. Warto poprosić właściciele, aby odebrał was z przystanku jeśli podróżuje się autobusem. Warto zamówić sobie kolację i śniadanie, bo wszędzie daleko. Ceny są ok.

Ran by a wonderful family: this organization is working on mending the relationship between donkey and human. We stayed at the donkey clinic for a couple nights and got to know the impact of this place. We highly recommend you come stay at the clinic or at least come for a proper tour and get to know the donkeys and the people behind the project. The donkeys were so tiny and cute. The accommodation was comfortable and very good value for money. The evening meal was huge and delicious.

Very friendly, helpful staff and an interesting insight to this worthwhile charity. Accommodation was adequate and value for money. Meals cooked by the family were truly delicious. The area around nearby lagoons was excellent for bird watching.

This is a great place to stay. The rooms are beautifully clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helped me with many things. I arrived early so they quickly cleaned my room for me, they helped me organise a tuktuk to the train station at 4am on my day of departure, they organised a lovely meal for me, and made sure I could find my way around the peninsula. The stay was very good value as well. Having the donkeys around is really beautiful, and you can spend as much or as little time as you like with them. Each one has its own personality!

The location is a little bit far from either end of the peninsula, but it was easy to get transport through the staff or using the PickMe app. There are also regular buses along the main road, which are cheap, not too crowded and fun to travel on.

Warm welcome by the owners. It was very nice to be part of a beneficial animal welfare project. We did get a presentation about the donkey Clinic And Education center and after a tour around. You can pet and feed the donkeys. The room was very comfortable with both fan and ac. Tasty meals can be ordered. We wish the owners the very best with their incredibly good work!

This is an unforgettable experience where you stay inside the donkey sanctuary. You get to feed, stroke and brush the donkeys here. The sanctuary is located in the midst of nature. The staff are very friendly and do their best to help you in any way. The room is comfortable and clean enough, given that this is a working donkey sanctuary. The manager wasn’t here when I visited so I didn’t find out much information about the sanctuary or taste the home cooked food (which apparently is usually delicious). However I am very glad I visited and would recommend it to animal lovers.

A little more cleanliness in the kitchen and bathroom is required.

Very nice place, where the donkeys are well treated (and visitors as well). Very good and local food (we had breakfast & dinner there). The staff is nice and halpful.

Incredibly wholesome experience, got to hang with the donkeys and the family that selflessly care for them. Beautiful peaceful place with delicious homemade dinner and breakfast, great conversations and a highlight from our trip.

This is a very worthwhile endeavour that desperately needs funds and support . I urge everyone to visit not necessarily to stay but to see what Hathir is try to achieve. The Mannar donkeys are absolutely adorable very tiny and wander about everywhere. Of course they get hit by cars and then are brought here where if their injuries aren't to severe they are nursed back to health . Even if you just visit please donate generously !!!

The English speaking staff were very kind and welcoming. Breakfast and evening meal were available on request, with ample portions of Sri Lankan freshly cooked food. An interesting presentation given about donkeys on Mannar and the work of the sanctuary. Our host spent time locating flamingos for us to see. Good wifi. Fan cooled bedroom with mosquito nets.

The adjacent bathroom was used by other people during the day. Cold water only. The host family lives in the local village, so we were the only people on an isolated site at night. We were the first Booking.com guests, and we felt that there were adjustments which could be made to make the accommodation more comfortable for visitors.

If you like animals, you should stay here for at least 1 night. You can pet, feed and even groom the donkeys. The owner also tells you everything about the donkeys in Mannar. Really amazing place

Lovely property, good spacious clean room. The owners are absolutely amazing! Couldn’t do enough for you and delicious food! Also the work they do for the local community is unmatched. Would 1000% recommend. Not forgetting the donkeys! They’re so well cared for and they have a brilliant emergency team who rescue donkeys from car accidents etc. ps. Have extra chickpeas for Delilah
