Reviewed Sep 7, 2026Sehr persönliche Betreuung und netter Kontakt mit den Besitzern. Gut ausgestattete Küche mit üblichen Utensilien. Für stürmisch-regnerisches Wetter gibt es einen eigenen Hänge-Wäschetrockner um Outdoor-Bekleidung schnell trocken zu bekommen. Viele nett gestaltete Aufenthaltsräume. Obwohl die Unterkunft sehr einfach ist, wirkt sie sehr gemütlich einladend und gibt eine besonderes Flair wenn draußen der Sturm tobt, man über die Fenster direkt auf die schäumende See und den Hafen blickt und sich innen am Tee in der warmen Stube wärmt.

Reviewed Aug 13, 2026Kleines Zimmer mit 2 Betten, WC und Dusche.
Die Aussicht war großartig, Blick direkt aufs Meer und viele verschiedene Vögel.
2 große Gemeinschaftsküchen mit viel und gutem Geschirr. Mehrerer sehr nett gestaltete Esstische und ein liebevoll eingerichteter Gemeinschaftsraum.
Die Vermieter waren sehr bemüht und auch telefonisch jederzeit erreichbar.
Alles sehr sauber.
Auch WLAN hat gut funktioniert.
Die Dusche im Badezimmer war nicht durch eine Duschkabine abgegrenzt (wäre bei der Größe auch nicht möglich) es gab nur einen Vorhang, sonst keine Barriere. Beim Duschen hätten wir das ganze Badezimmer überschwemmt. Wir haben daher eine vorhandene Gemeinschaftsdusche benutzt.

Reviewed Aug 10, 2026In primis l'accoglienza del proprietario, la disposizione degli spazi (due cucine, salotti, postazioni per mangiare), la vista sul mare delle camere sx, il supermercato a pochi passi e la semplicità in generale della struttura.
Sei direttamente sul mare, quindi le camere numeri pari hanno una vista eccezionale.
Nonostante le dimensioni, la camera e il bagno sono funzionali.
Esternamente è un enorme modulo ma una volta dentro nonostante gli spazi bassi risulta comunque confortevole e funzionale.

Reviewed Jul 25, 2026Palvelu oli erittäin ystävällistä, paikka oli todella siisti, kaksi keittiötä kaikkine tarvikkeineen antoi rauhan ruoanvalmistukseen. Nukkumahuoneet olivat rauhallisella käytävällä, kaksi henkilöä mahtui hyvin huoneeseen. Pitkä henkilö mahtui nukkumaan, sängyssä ei ollut päätyä. Järvikalastus lyhyen matkan päässä ja kiva merkitty luontopolku lähellä. Itsepalvelukauppa aivan vieressä. Tulisin ehdottomasti uudelleen.
Näkymä huoneen ikkunasta oli viereiseen taloon, odotuksena oli merinäköala.

Reviewed Jul 19, 2026Ein tolles Konzept, welches die Vorteile eines Hotelzimmers mit denen einer Ferienwohnung verbindet. Ein kleines Bad in jedem der ca 12 Zimmer, und dann 2 gemütliche Wohnzimmer sowie 2 gut ausgestattete Küchen zur gemeinsamen Nutzung durch die Gäste. Es war alles super sauber und man merkt das Herzblut, welches das Betreiberpaar in die ganze Sache steckt. Ich werde bestimmt einmal wiederkommen!
Einzig hätte ich mir einen Stuhl in meinem Zimmer gewünscht, aber es war nicht wichtig genug um danach zu fragen. Wahrscheinlich wäre es kein Problem gewesen, mir einen aus einem der Gemeinschaftsräume zu holen.

Great location for a week stay for hiking or birding around Gamvik, nice evening walk out to the lighthouse for supper at the cafe. Super friendly owners were welcoming and worked especially hard to keep the place clean and well ordered. Shared kitchen facilities were great with a full range of pots for cooking and multiple fridges for food storage. Kitchen window had a lovely view of the harbor with eiders, terns and skuas coming and going. Comfortable living rooms were great for working and watching Norway advance in the World Cup. Used the laundry facilities after several weeks on the road. Fantastic hiking areas and arctic birds in the area. Other guests were friendly and felt like a B&B with chats at breakfast and the evening. Would be glad to stay at the brakkebo again.
Room was relatively small with single beds only, maybe better for solo travelers than couples but the shared spaces in the kitchens and living rooms were large. Bathrooms were small and contained so constantly banging into shelves or water tanks. Relatively little room to hang up and dry wet clothes but the weather was mostly good.
Stort och välutrustat gemensamt kök med utsikt över hamnen. Trevligt vardagsrum. Liten matbutik alldeles intill.

Reviewed Jul 8, 2026There shouldn't be a misunderstanding: "brakkebo" in Norwegian means the same as "barracks" in English. It's an assembly of prefabricated modules like in a construction place or in a military installation .... meeting the hosts and entering inside you can appreciate the result of their efforts to create a welcoming hostel (not a hotel!) atmosphere accompanied by single and double rooms with en-suite bathrooms, ample cooking facilities and sitting space ... all that for an extremely reasonable price. Of course, as in any hostel, the quality of your stay depends also from those with whom you are sharing the place. I have been extremely lucky in this respect.

Reviewed Jul 6, 2026Alt var rent og fint. Rommet var lite,men praktisk innredet,med gode senger og et eget lite bad. Det felles kjøkkenet var veldig godt utstyrt,med plass til alle som bodde der. Personalet var imøtekommende og hyggelig. Kommer gjerne tilbake dit.

Hyvä sijainti kylän keskellä. Taukotilan ikkunasta oli mukavaa seurata lintuja.
Vaikka taukotila ja huone oli st siistejä, ilmassa oli koko ajan voimakkaasti tuoksuvan pesuaineen haju. Huoneessa haisi lisäksi myös home.

Reviewed Jun 14, 2026This hotel is wonderful with very nice hosts. We appreciated having a wc and shower in our room and we had a lovely view of the port. Having two shared kitchens and a shared living room means there is lots of place for several guests to cook at the same time. The store in Gamvik and the attached community room were a real bonus. Gamvik has a lovely community feel.

Paikassa kävi siivooja usein ja kaikki oli kunnossa. Huoneissa hyvät sängyt ja ikkunasta näki merelle. Ulkoa päin katsottuna olin hyvin epäileväinen, mutta sisälle mennessä käsitykseni muuttui. Ei ole mitään negatiivista sanottavaa, kauppakin vieressä

Die Frage, was mir gefallen hat, stellt sich nicht, da die Auswahl an Unterkünften in Gamig auf genau diese Unterkunft beschränkt ist. Ein Hotel würde ich es in keinem Falle nennen, es ist wie ein Container für große Baustellen, in dem die verschiedenen Büros und Aufenthaltsräume untergebracht sind. Ich habe mich wirklich gewundert, dass es bei Booking unter Hotels gelistet wurde.
Diese Unterkunft ist für Selbstverpflegung gedacht. Für diesen Zweck ist auch wirklich alles da, es besteht kein Mangel an Töpfen, Tellern, Geschirr etc. Auch eine Mikrowelle ist vorhanden.
Die Zimmer haben Pappwände. In meinem Falle war das nicht schlimm, da ich keine Zimmernachbarn hatte, ich kann mir aber vorstellen, dass dies zu einem erheblichen Problemen wird.

Reviewed Jun 2, 2026Die Pension wird sorgfältig und liebevoll geführt. Es gibt kleine Zimmer mit Meerblick. Und die Gemeinschaftsräume sind sehr schön und zweckdienlich eingerichtet. Der Laden in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft komplettiert das ganze noch.
Karuissa olosuhteissa erinomainen majoitusratkaisu. Siisti ja toimiva!

Reviewed Feb 27, 2026Gamvik is located in the far north of Norway on the Nordkyn Peninsula, right by the Barents Sea — remote, peaceful, and incredibly impressive. The drive itself is already part of the adventure: crossing the wide mountain plateaus and high mountain passes on the way feels like a truly epic road trip. The vast landscapes, the open skies, and the feeling of absolute space make the journey unforgettable. It is genuinely a destination worth traveling for.
The accommodation itself is actually designed as a shared guesthouse with several rooms, but during our stay we had the entire place to ourselves, which made it even more special. We were welcomed extremely warmly by the owner, who personally showed us everything and explained all the details in a very friendly and helpful way.
The location is outstanding, directly by the sea with unobstructed views of the Barents Sea. Looking out of the window at the water and the dramatic Arctic scenery is something very special. Close by is the Slettnes Lighthouse, the northernmost mainland lighthouse in Europe — a remarkable place that perfectly reflects the raw and powerful character of this region. we travelled 2026-02 and will come back in the Summertime in the Future
The rooms are very clean, functional, and well maintained. Everything is practical and comfortable, and you immediately feel at ease. There is a well-equipped kitchen with dining facilities and a cozy seating area to relax. Parking is right in front of the building, and WiFi is of course available.
Unfortunately, there was so much snow outside that we could not use the terrace, but even the winter conditions add to the unique atmosphere of this place. We would come back anytime.
Honestly, there was nothing we truly disliked. This is not a five-star luxury hotel — and it doesn’t try to be. It is a simple, authentic place in a remote Arctic village, and that is exactly what makes it special. We felt completely comfortable throughout our stay.
We had booked the smallest room category with single beds in a double room. Even though we are 1.91 m and 1.96 m tall, we slept very well without any issues. Everything was perfectly clean and functional.
There is genuinely nothing negative we could point out — for what it is, it is absolutely spot on. we will come back

Äänieristys käytävältä on olematon, ja rakennus on parakkimainen ja yksinkertainen muovimattoineen, mutta koska paikka.on siisti ja muuten rauhallinen, niin se ei haitannut.

Reviewed Sep 10, 2025I am so perplexed by how much I enjoyed this stay. The photos looked so unassuming and like it was a makeshift accommodation (sorry, Brakkebo team!). My room had stellar views and a family with a kid was put next door, which made me feel a bit concerned about noise. I NEVER HEARD A THING from my room. I was so shocked at how soundproof the units were. Everything was impeccably clean and the kitchen was fully equipped. I have stayed at thousands of places over the years, and this was one of my favorite stays due to the views and how friendly the woman working there was. Highly recommend staying here in Gamvik!

Für meine Körpergrösse von 187 war das Bett etwas kurz und da es zwischen den Wänden war, konnte ich die Füsse auch nicht rausstrecken. Aber ich habe gesehen, dass bei den Doppelzimmern eines der Betten freisteht, nächstes Mal würde ich so ein Bett bevorzugen.
