We had a wonderful stay. The room was very clean and comfortable, and we especially enjoyed the beautiful view from the rooftop terrace. A special thanks to Ashan, who was incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. When one of us was not feeling well, he took especially good care of us and supported us with freshly prepared tea every day. We truly appreciated this thoughtful gesture and his kindness. The location is also very convenient – only about a 20-minute walk from the city center or just a 4-minute tuk-tuk ride away. We really enjoyed our time here and would happily recommend this place to others.

Безупречный сервис отеля. Организовали трансфер с аэропорта, а также экскурсию по наблюдению за китами. Также организовали трансфер при отъезде. В отеле нас везде сопровождал Ашан. Просто добрейшей души человек. Во всем поможет и соблюдает идеальную чистоту отеля. Мы в восторге от его гостеприимства.

Nous avons eu un grave accident de la route lors de notre séjour. Le propriétaire de l’hôtel est malhonnête, il nous a fait croire que nos passeports avaient été récupérés par la police locale alors que c’est lui qui les conservait par peur de ne pas être payé. De ce fait, nous nous sommes retrouvé dans une situation compliquée, la police pensant que nous ne souhaitions pas collaborer alors que nous étions hospitalisés! Il a fallu que des amis sri lankais interviennent pour qu’il veuille bien coopérer et restituer nos pièces d’identité. De plus, il a annulé notre réservation booking en stipulant que nous ne nous étions jamais présenté à l’hôtel ce qui était complètement faux, et a voulu nous réclamer plus d’argent que ce que nous devions réellement payer, sans vous parler des frais du scooter pour lequel il souhaitait nous demander des sommes exorbitantes pour les réparations. Nous n’avons pas compris son comportement qui était d’une part, par message attentionné et d’autres part malhonnête. J’imagine que dans d’autres circonstances notre séjour ce serait très bien passé au sein de cet hôtel.

Nous avons loué 2 chambres toutes les 2 spacieuses, propres et confortables. Bonne clim, moustiquaire, petite piscine bien agréable, accès à un petit coin cuisine avec thé et café + frigo et évier. Personnel très agréable. Au calme et tout près de la mer.

THE CLEANEST HOTEL IN SRI LANKA. The room was a good size. Hot water and a separated shower from the rest of the bathroom. I cannot say enough about Ashan, the property manager. Very friendly, very attentive. An exceptional worker.

A bit of a walk to Weligama.

Great location in a quieter part of Weligama. The rooms and the territory are very clean. The owner is very friendly, and the staff member, Ashan, is amazing. The kitchen has everything you need to cook. There is parking on-site, and you can safely leave your surfboards

The only downside is the sound proofing, unfortunately, it’s not the best

Due to a change in our flight schedule, we had to leave one day earlier than planned. To our surprise, the owner kindly refunded the cash for the last night. Such an amazing and generous person! Hele fijne grote kamer met een fijn bed. Heerlijk geslapen door de rustige omgeving. Lekker zwembad, en de eigenaar en conciërge zijn super behulpzaam. Ook is er een TukTuk driver die je op elk moment van de dag kan bellen om je op te halen. Al met al, een super goede ervaring. Aanrader!

Es war ein wundervoller Aufenthalt im the Moose. Absolut super Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Bett Bequem, AC funktioniert supe, genügendeb Platz. Pool sauber und genügend Liegefläche. Personal war ausgesprochen Freundlich.

We were staying here for a week and were very satisfied with accommodation. Kind and hardworking housekeeper Ashan takes care of the place and makes sure that everything is very clean and well maintained, also the pool. There are not a lot of mosquitos around, and also rooms can be totally closed, so we never had mosquito in a room. Additionally there is also a mosquito net available, but we did not really need it. Air condition is quiet and works well. Wi-fi is also good. We liked the location, since it is peaceful but at the same time only 15 min walk to main part of the beach. Few minutes from the property is place called Devi's offering delicious food, where we had our breakfasts and dinners. We were also satisfied with the tuktuk driver Ashan arranged for us. We already miss the place and would certainly stay here again.

Emplacement idéal à l'écart de la grande route, notre réceptionniste était très gentil et attentionné. Idéalement il faut se déplacer en scooter, possibilité d'en louer un sur place pour 2250 rpk par jours. Chambre et salle de bain très propre avec douche séparée. L'océan est visible mais uniquement depuis le roof top pas depuis la chambre. Plages de Midigama et Ahangama à 10 min en scooter ou tuk tuk plus calmes et moins bondée que Mirissa et Weligama.

Balcon très petit. Pas très bien insonorisé, malheureusement vous entendez vos voisins parler, sortir et rentrer de leurs chambres. Pas de possibilité de payer par carte et la réception n'avait pas de change, dommage pour un établissement de ce standing.

I had a really pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with comfortable bedding and plenty of natural light. What stood out most was the friendly and professional staff – they were always available and happy to help with anything I needed. The location is excellent, with easy access to public transportation and nearby attractions, which made getting around the city very convenient. The Wi-Fi was strong and reliable throughout my stay, which was important for getting some work done. While I didn’t use the food services or watch TV during my visit, the overall experience was still excellent thanks to the comfortable atmosphere, quiet environment, and efficient service. I’d definitely stay here again!

子どもと3泊しました。建物はとても新しくて清潔です。鍋や包丁などの調理道具や、レンジ、トースターまで揃った共有のキッチンと冷蔵庫、無料のお茶やコーヒーがあり、いつでも自由に使えるためとても便利です。 シャワーのお湯もたくさん出るし、エアコンもあり、Wi-Fiも速く、部屋はとてもきれいです。 ウェリガマの中心地までは、徒歩20分、トゥクトゥクで200-300ルピーでした。ホテルから幹線道路に出て徒歩3分のところにゴール行きのバス停もあり便利です。 またウェリガマの海は、子どもが泳ぐには波が荒すぎたので、プール付きのホテルにして正解でした。屋上から海も見え、のんびり過ごせます。 そして何より、オーナーのマノジさんが、とても丁寧に対応してくださいます。困ったことがあったら相談でき安心です。

Manoj was a superb host - he helped us with everything we needed, including renting a moped which was very easy. The room was spotless and the hotel is in a great quiet location, set back from the main road. We would 100% stay here again!

De acco ligt in een rustig straat. Het is afgelegen maar als je van wandelen houdt geen probleem of Tuktuk voor 200-300 lkr. Eigenaar en jongen die er werkt willen je het graag naar de zin maken. Het is er super schoon. Wij hebben nog nachtje extra bijgeboekt. 4 nachten in totaal.

The place was amazing, I have no complaints, maybe a cold shower here and there, but it did not spoil the amazing stay we had.

Very polite and very polite and attentive owner. he wrote several times and asked if everything was ok and if anything was needed. it was nice. the villa is very new, good repair. the pool is wonderful, my son was happy. you can get to the center of weligama by tuk tuk in 5-7 minutes. you can rent bikes at the villa. there is a kitchen and a terrace on top with a view of the ocean, where you can eat. in general, for this money you can't think of anything better. thanks again!

It’s in a peaceful spot yet still close to everything and the surf beach. The view from the rooftop is stunning 😊. The rooms were super clean and the whole place feels fresh and newly built. It also has a kitchen that can be used by guests, swimming pool and laundry service. As we went out of season we pretty much had the place to ourselves. The host was so kind—when we were struggling to find transport early in the morning to the surf club, the host even dropped us off himself! He also let us try some delicious guava and cherries straight from the garden. Would definitely stay here again!

The place was super neat and modern. The room was spacious, private, and really comfortable. The swimming pool was a perfect spot for some relaxing. The location is a bit outside the center, but it’s very easy to reach by bike, which you can conveniently rent directly on-site. The host is great! Very welcoming and really makes an effort to make you feel at home. You can reach out to them almost anytime, which is super helpful. I’d highly recommend staying here!

Beautiful large house with cute swimming pool, set in a luxuriant garden - very quiet location. Good, strong hot shower. We could use the small kitchen area. Agreeable roof top. A 20 minute walk to town centre and beach fish restaurants. A tuk tuk be arranged if needed (500 rupees). Very helpful owner.

It was the best accomodation during our trip on Sri Lanka! Very clean room, comfortable bed, bathroom with western shower and good water pressure. Fast WiFi, nice pool. Very hospitable and helpful owner.. Hotel is located around 15 minutes of walking to the beach, in quiet and green neighborhood.

Our stay at the Moose was absolutely incredible!! We stayed one night but wish we would've stayed more. The rooms are beautiful, the pool is very nice to spend a bit of time to relax away from the crowds at the beach! The location is also nice, not far from the center. But mostly, the owner Manuj, is incredibly nice and helpful! He did his best and went out of his way to make sure we had a nice stay, I truly recommend this place !

Doors to each room do not close easily. I was woken by other guests slamming their doors throughout the night, multiple times. I wouldn’t stay again unless this is fixed.

We stayed at the Moose for 3 nights. All was perfect! Rooms are clean, excellent view from the rooftop, well equipped little kitchen, soft towels ( even pool towels). We all loved the pool! So clean and so warm! The owner is amazing, caring for his guests to the maximum. He organised us tuktuk, taxi, recommended a great massage.His hotel is new and modern. We got spoiled ! Happy to give 10 out of 10!

The swimming pool is perfectly maintained, and the owner/manager is absolutely wonderful—always ready to help, offering great tips on places to visit, and even helping with tuk-tuk bookings. The common areas are spacious, clean, and well-maintained, and we loved the rooftop for enjoying delicious breakfasts with a view. A truly memorable experience—we can’t wait to come back! Very clean, well maintained property with pool, papaya trees, a community kitchen to use. The room size is great, there are high quality doors that reduce noise, many power plugs in the room and a well functioning air conditioning. It was very thought through when building it. It still seems very new and well in shape. Best WiFi connection we had in our entire trip. The host is very friendly, supportive and hospitable. We felt very welcomed.

Everything was perfect! When booking, you just have to be aware that the main beach is about a 20 minutes walk away (or 500 LKR with a tuk tuk).

The room was large and comfortable and it’s a quiet neighborhood. Restaurants and beach facilities are a short.Tuk tuk ride away. As a solo traveler, however I prefer to be able to walk.

We had a great stay at The Moose. Host Manoj was very friendly, and offered many things on top of the room. The property is located a little outside the centre of Weligama, but that keeps the noise to a minimum. Lots of birdsong can be heard here and it's only a 20 minute walk into the centre, or a short scooter/tuk tuk ride. There is also a lovely rooftop area with great views and an ample kitchen to make meals should you wish. The room was a great size, strong air con, plenty of hot water and the wifi was great. I really loved my stay here! The Moose ist in a unique location in Weligama: Very close to everything, but still hidden enough from the main road so that it’s perfectly quiet and relaxed. The property is very well designed, modern, impeccably clean, and has everything you need: Kitchen, water and other basics always ready in the fridge, a wonderful pool with lounge chairs, laundry, AC, and a roof area to practice yoga or just enjoy the view. The owner really made me feel welcome and was so helpful with everything I needed (he even helped me to fix a broken backpack). And I got a wonderful local breakfast. Don’t think twice, this is a great spot to explore busy Weligama and relax at the same time!

The location is perfect! The host is really kind and friendly always willing to help us with anything and any time .

We were not satisfied fully by the cleaning experience, since on the first day of our arrival we found some small hair on the pillow case . Also there was not warm water . On our last day early in the morning, there was really strong smoke coming from the next house because they were burning something and it was unpleasant.

Our experience at The Moose was exceptional. The host was not only friendly but also went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. He helped us organize exciting trips and arranged reliable transportation. The room itself was spacious, immaculately clean, with comfortable beds. The large terrace provided breathtaking views and was a tranquil oasis. The air conditioning worked flawlessly, making our stay even more comfortable. The accommodation was located in a peaceful neighborhood, where we could enjoy a relaxing stay without the noise of the city. Yet, everything we needed was within walking distance, making it easy to explore the area.This was undoubtedly the best part of our Sri Lankan adventure and we will cherish the memories for years to come.

This hotel is such a hidden gem! Located super close to the jungle beach, walkable to the city centre, minutes away from the yoga studio and yet sheltered from the street noise, the location could not be better. I will miss watching monkies jump in between palm trees in the mornings, what a way to start the day! The hotel staff is super sweet and Manog who manages the property is such a great host; when there was an issue with my original booking he was kind to upgrade me and was super helpful throughout my stay. Thank you for hosting me!

I liked everything, but one idea to make it even better would be an information package in the rooms with wifi details, laundry guide, maybe a few whatsapp numbers for trusted tuktuk drivers in the area.

The Moose in Welligama was a perfect stay with scenic views from the terrace. The rooms were well maintained and very clean. This place is very close to good cafés and surfing schools in Welligama. It is pretty close to all the popular southern beaches in Sri Lanka. We had a great time here and will definitely stay at this place for our next visit to Welligama or Mirissa.

The Moose was nice and new, with the most beautiful jungle/ocean view from the rooftop terrace. The beds and duvets/pillows were comfortable, and there was a lovely pool area. The host, Manoj, was incredibly kind and welcoming, and we had many pleasant chats with him during our stay.

The accommodation was new and very clean. The location was peaceful and close to the center of Weligama and Weligama beach. The host made me feel welcome and was very helpful throughout my stay. My room was large enough, and the good air conditioning kept it cool while sleeping. I slept very well every night here. A fridge and a small kitchen outside the room are also a nice addition if you need them. I can warmly recommend this accommodation to those arriving in Sri Lanka and Weligama. I really enjoyed my time in Sri Lanka and this accommodation was part of my great experience.

The hotel is completely new so everything is super clean and in an amazing condition. The location is perfect since its close to weligama and ahangama. I was supposed to stay only few nights but enjoyed my stay so much that extended it for two weeks. Also the common little kitchen is so handy to have! Pool and the pool chairs are in great condition and the area is really quiet so easy to get good sleep in.

The house is completely new and beautiful. It was so much better than we expected. The owner made us feel welcomed and he was very helpful as well. My friend and I stayed one month totally in Sri Lanka in a few different accommodations, but The Moose Weligama was the best accommodation where we stayed.

My wife and I have been using Booking.com for a few years now. We have always been hesitant to book a property without reviews, as you're never quite sure what you might be getting into. That all changed with The Moose Weligama. The pictures looked amazing and the price seemed right. So, we took a chance. Once we arrived, we could not believe oir eyes! The Moose is a brand new building, that was still receiving some finishing touches when we arrived. We would also learn that we would be the first guests...ever! We were welcomed by the owner, Mr. Manoj. He was incredibly warm, friendly and extremely accomodating, helping us settle in and providing us with some essentials to make our stay comfortable. By the end of our stay, we felt as if we had truly connected and made a dear friend. Our stay was comfortable and familiar. We were truly honored to meet Mr. Manoj and felt priviledged to be his first guest. A true gift of fate. The Moose is Weligama's newest "best kept secret". A beautiful property located in a residential area about 1K from the heart of Weligama beach, and a 7 minute walk to Basecamp (for any yoga enthusiasts). It is luxurious, well appointed and priced incredibly well for what you get. Anyone who has the opportunity to stay here is truly blessed!
