The accommodation is very peaceful in the middle of the nature! The view from the room is gorgeous. All of the staff provides very good service! Thank you so much Harry for all the good care. Recommend this place a lot.

The only thing is that you need to go a bit off road. Especially with your own tuktuk its a bit hard. But you can send the staff a message and they will come help you!

Amazing views from the room

Location was a little more distant from nearby towns than we realised

The property is literally surrounded by nature, right next to a river with small waterfalls, making it a very peaceful and unique place. The location is ideal for anyone looking to completely disconnect and relax. The food was good and the staff was very polite, friendly and kind, although they were not always easy to find when needed.

The property, swimming pool and rooms — although very charming because of their setting — need to be better maintained (we were unable to use the swimming pool because of a frog in it and it was not very cleaned). Our room had a beautiful balcony, but unfortunately we were not really able to use it because it was frequently visited by monkeys. Also the cleanliness of the room should have been better.

Beautiful location and views

I loved the location but only if you want to be an hour out of Kandy in nature.

The road is a little tricky and it would have nice to be told about the leeches on the property especially as a foreigner unaware of how to handle them.

Malheureusement il a beaucoup plus donc nous avons pas pu profiter des alentours L’attente des plats (pensez à commander un moment avant) L’hôtel est situé à 1h de Kandy donc nous avons pas trop eu le temps de visiter la ville et alentours (uniquement le temple de la dent avant de rejoindre l’hôtel)

We loved everything about the resort and would definitely recommend staying here. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. The views were stunning, and the food was delicious. We had a wonderful experience and would happily visit again.

We loved almost everything. But there is not enough hot water to shower. It is limited for shorter time.

Lovely property, nice rooms, we stayed in a chalet with river views. The staff of young men tried hard to meet our needs. Pool was lovely.

Food was ok, but not great. However it is off season so maybe not the usual chef. The river is hard to get to from the hotel. Lots of steps.

Det var meget mærkeligt. Vi var de eneste gæster og der var så 4-5 gutter til at tage sig af os. De havde ikke rigtig styr på madlavning (alt blev tilberedt i meget parfumeret kokos olie) og de glemte en del under rengøringen som vi efterfølgende måtte bede om.

The staff is courteous, humble, cheerful and extremely helpful. Especially Mr Hariharan deserves a great deal of appreciation. He speaks good English as well. The property itself is clean, surrounded by jungle and with a raging river rafting worthy type of water body right in front, makes for a fabulous view.

The location is almost 1 hr away from kandy. So it's not near by and the hotel location mentions kandy which is not entirely true. Also location is difficult to find if you are alone and new to the area. Need to call them and they are nice enough to come fetch you. The last 900 metres or so before reaching the resort is rocky and bumpy.

וואו!!!! מקום מושלם בלב טבע פראי. חדר מעץ בעל 4 קירות זכוכית המשקיף לנוף עוצר נשימה. ירידה נגישה לנהר, הטבע במיטבו, ברכת שחייה על קצה הנוף. מומלץ ממש לאנשים שמבקשים לשהות במקום נוח בשיאו של הטבע.

Peaceful, private stunning views. Big bungalow rooms the staff were great. Harry and his team looked after us. Great activities archery volleyball and a beautiful pool.

It’s not that close to Kandy. 1 hour drive but it’s actually worth the trip. We loved our stay. 10 out of 10.

Asanka and the team of staff went above and beyond to make our stay special - they organised a cake for my husband's birthday, answered all our questions and provided excellent service. The Sri Lankan breakfast and crab curry special were also delicious. We loved the pool and the serenity. (FYI we were fine with this, but in case it is a priority for you, they do not serve alcohol).

Some of the activities were not available due to the season. Near the pool area, small tables to put drinks on would be helpful as well.

Harry and the team were great - lovely quiet, secluded location but plenty of activities on offer.

The place is magnificent, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. The staff were extremely friendly, especially Hariharan. The cabanas were very clean, and the scenic views were absolutely beautiful.

Les chambres étaient tout simplement magnifique, avec une vue à couper le souffle, dans un endroit, très dépaysant, la piscine est super jolie. C’est un hôtel très joli pour s’y reposer et se détendre dans le calme . Le chemin pour y aller n’est pas goudronnée en avertir votre chauffeur, mais le nôtres nous a conduit sans problème

Fantastisk placering og personale der virkelig gik op i du havde en god oplevelse! Du skal bruge Aqua Dunhinda som et sted hvor du kan trække vejret efter nogle lidt travle dage i Kandy og give dig selv lov til at få et par dages pusterum. Det er et godt stop på vejen hvis du skal videre til Nuwara Eliyah.

The road leading to the property is quite narrow and a bit rough, so it’s better to arrive before dark.

Wij kwamen hier toevallig terecht tijdens onze reis van Haputale naar Kandy. Maar wat zijn we blij dat we dit hotel geboekt hebben. De weg erheen is nog steeds niet aangelegd dus dit is nogal uitdagend, maar dat ben je snel vergeten zodra je aankomt. De kamer en vooral het uitzicht vanaf het terras is prachtig. Ook het zwembad is heerlijk. Ideale plek om rustig te bekomen van een lange rit.

Location was absolutely insane along with the pool and staff. Had an amazing stay alltogether. We caught a good deal with genius discount for like 40€ a night with breakfast. Wouldnt mind paying even more ..We had our own private chalet along with butler and scared monkeys 😂. If road ever brings us close to it again we will definitely stay. Food was sometimes amazing sometimes decent, but never bad. Ill say again staff was really amazing

Cleanliness of the bathroom toilet was not greatest along with "monkey doors" sliding out of frame, we said and within 5 minues they came and cleaned it all perfectly.. overall I'd give a strong 9.5/9.6

Mooi ruim opgezet resort met fantastisch uitzicht over de rivier vanuit je huisje. Pas wel op voor de apen want die hebben al onze was van het balkon af gegooid. Goed restaurant maar iets sfeerloos. Resort verkoopt geen alcoholische dranken dus als je zin hebt in een wijntje of biertje, moet je dat zelf meenemen of kan het personeel het voor een meerprijs in het dorp voor je halen.

Our stay at Aqua Dunhinda was truly a refreshing experience. This is a beautiful retreat for those who love nature and the calmness it brings. A perfect family getaway to reconnect with the environment and rejuvenate the senses. From the moment we stepped onto the property, we felt completely relaxed. Overlooking the river, with its soothing sounds, gave a sense of peace as if all stress was being washed away. The chalets were beautifully done, clean, and tidy offering comfort while blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings. The food was exceptional, with a home cooked feel that added warmth to our stay. The staff were amazing friendly, supportive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure we felt at home. What makes Aqua Dunhinda truly special is its commitment to staying close to its roots. The decision not to allow alcohol or a bar on the property is a wise one, ensuring the space remains true to its purpose a haven of calmness, serenity, and nature. The views were stunning. The staff were so helpful, particularly Harri who couldn't have done more for us. The food was good and the chalets were exceptional.

Fantastic forrest location overlooking a spectacular fast running river. Worth the slight detour! Excellent facilities including (very good) massages, swimming pool and hiking trails. The food we had was very well prepared. If you are looking for a place to stay in nature, this is it.

Die Lage war sehr toll, nettes Personal, gutes Abendessen, wir konnten früher ins Hotelzimmer als geplant, was sehr aufmerksam war.

Es war nicht sonderlich sauber, mein Kissen hatte Flecken, der Boden war nicht gewischt, überall Spinnweben. Ein Hinweis zum Zustand der Straße wäre gut gewesen, wir und unser Taxifahrer waren sehr überrascht und schockiert. Die Straße geht über in eine unbefestigte Straße mit großen Schlaglöchern und Steinen, man kann nur im Schneckentempo darüber fahren.

Everything was amazing. The room clean and large, the view from the room was amazing. The dinner and breakfast was very taste. The portions are very big.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. The view is truly beautiful — it overlooks a peaceful river surrounded by lush greenery and nature all around. It’s a place with great natural charm and potential. However, unfortunately, the service and facilities were disappointing: • The restaurant had a very unpleasant smell, there was no air conditioning, and the breakfast options were extremely limited — it was either a Sri Lankan breakfast or a plain omelet. Nothing else was offered during our stay. • The path to the river and hotel surroundings are infested with leeches (leech worms). I was bitten badly on my way to the river — the leech stuck to my leg and I bled for over an hour. There were no first aid supplies available, and it took them a long time to bring even a bandage. I had multiple leech bites throughout the stay. • Monkeys frequently come to the balcony in the morning. Be careful: do not leave anything outside, or it will get stolen. Also, do not leave the balcony door open, or you may find monkeys inside your room. • There is no fridge in the room — just a water cooler, but the water is not cold. • Shampoo and shower gel were in very small quantities and only provided when we asked. • Towels were changed multiple times upon request, and the staff did respond when asked. • The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, which we appreciated. • The road to the hotel is extremely rough, dark, and isolated. Drivers asked for extra charges after seeing the difficult route, even if the price was agreed upon earlier. ⚠️ Final Thoughts: If you’re looking for a place with a great view and don’t mind the rough nature and basic service, it might work for you. But if you’re expecting comfort, proper facilities, or hassle-free access — this may not be the right place.

It is not safe for children, the way to the rooms is dangerous and there is no side protection.

We loved the nature, small tea plantation and the very well made walking trails among them, infinity pool, badminton courts, private waterfall, birds around, small bicycle ride, the view from the chalets, food, friendly staff (specially Hari) and everything + the friendly cat

The hotel is in the most beautiful location! An amazing experience to wake up in the morning and see the river flowing surrounded by all the beautiful trees. The rooms are spacious and beautifully designed. The food is good, and it’s great that they offer personal adjustments upon request. But most importantly – the staff was incredible!!! They gave us everything we needed, always smiled, and truly just wanted us to have the best time. The family who owns the hotel is lovely and does everything they can to make the experience as perfect as possible. If you’re looking for a slightly different hotel with breathtaking views – this is the one for you!

What truly sets the experience apart is the staff. Everyone is warm, friendly and always willing to help. A special shoutout to Hari, who managed every aspect of our stay, from arranging a local cooking demo at the hotel to showing us around the tea estate. It’s the family-run nature of the place that makes all the difference. The owning family lives on the property and welcomed us into their home to see how traditional Sri Lankan recipes are prepared. Interacting with them was an extremely pleasant and memorable experience. Moreover, meals are home-cooked, nourishing and served in portions so generous that you’ll never go hungry.

Amazing place nice and friendly staff

The place has amazing view and the chalets are all very nice with view on the waterfall. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. While the place has great potential, it is not clear what the concept behind is. Maybe it used to be a place for yoga retreats or something but it now lacks a bit of soul.The restaurant is deserted, just tables and chairs. We noted that a few things weren't working properly, the pool was broken so we used the other pool that is part of the private villa (which is also very nice though). We only stayed one night and we actually enjoyed it, so overall it was still quite good.

wonderful, very special place!

Peaceful spot with lovely views over looking the Mahaweli river. Well located for watching the birds and wildlife. Relaxing garden area with main pool and restaurant. Also light and open plan villa with its own small pool and garden. Good supportive staff and chef, excellent Sri Lankan food choices. Short section of access road more easily passable with SUV, until nearby dam construction work completed, and road tarmacked over.

A unique place with beautiful nature. The view from the window reveals pristine beauty. It’s wonderful to observe the mountain landscapes, fog, and sunrises. You can take a walk along the river or around the property to examine how tea grows. The food is delicious! I believe they have the best chef in Sri Lanka here! Thank you very much for the personalized approach, for fulfilling my special requests and wishes on my birthday, and for the feeling of warmth and hospitality. And the monkeys are a special feature of the place. Thank you, I will recommend it.

The view was absolutely stunning. We’ve never stayed in a place with such a fantastic view from the cottage. The pool was very nice, and the staff — especially Harry — took excellent care of us. We even stayed an extra night to relax. The road was moderatly manageable with our own TukTuk. It’s a good idea to arrive before dark, though.

The restaurant felt a bit lacking in atmosphere. With a bit more decoration, it would easily be a 10.

Very professional staff (special praise for Asanka 🙂), clean room, breathtaking view.

The views were gorgeous. Watching the monkeys was quite a treat. The rooms were lovely and the staff were kind and helpful.

Unfortunately, the road to get there was atrocious. Since the kitchen is only open at certain times, it would be helpful to have a small fridge in the rooms.The hot water in the shower runs out pretty quick.
