Reviewed Aug 13, 2026This hotel exceeded our expectations: when we arrived, they gave us better rooms than those in our reservation, in order to be next to each other. The staff are really friendly and professional; even in a dangerous situation (we were there during the 2026 earthquake), they remained calm and acted professionally in order to find good solutions for all their guests! The hotel is located near Salamina's main square, and they have good contacts if you're looking for a driver to Samaria Nature Park or if you want a tour of a coffee farm. Bonsai Hotel, thanks a lot for the great experience, even in a very difficult situation. We wish you all the best!

Reviewed Jul 20, 2026La ubicación es a una cuadra de plaza principal lo cuál es ideal, ya que todos los que están en la plaza tienen el ruido de la calle, es ambiente de pueblo lo que me parece buenísimo, lugares para comer o tomar algo. Fué cómodo, limpio y Tamara súper querida y atenta, hasta tinto nos ofreció en la mañana.
Obviamente por ser construcción antigua se entiende, pero hay comejen. Se escucha el ruido de las personas al caminar por el piso en madera.

Elegimos la habitación con balcón, si tiene el sueño frágil, a tener en cuenta que se siente todo el ruido de la calle, las personas que pasan, carros, los huéspedes que llegan tarde. En una de las dos noches una pareja llegó discutiendo y tirando puerta, incomodo. Mas tarde la policía. Para la segunda noche usé tapones y dormí sin problemas. El colchón no es resortado, es de espuma. La ducha sonaba mucho y dirigía el agua para todo lado. Podría considerar para una segunda oportunidad de hospedaje quedarnos en una que no de a la calle. Nos quedamos dos noches, no hicieron el aseo de la habitación.

My room was right next to the reception, felt like I was behind a closet door. Didn't really impact my stay though of course. Also no parqueadero for my motorcycle. But there's a good one 40 meters further down the road, think I paid COP 10'000. The hotel is on the first floor, no elevator - if that's important for you.

Unfortunately apart from the beautiful view and where it is situated, the room itself is rather small and nothing special for the price paid. We've gotten better rooms elsewhere in Colombia for the price.

Reviewed Mar 9, 2025Simple hostel with simple room located just south of the city center. Clean with fresh linens and towel, friendly staff. Within walking distance of the main square, with restaurants and shops around the corner. The hostel offers a kitchen (convenient) but the absolute stunner is the shared balcony, overlooking a lush green part of the town, with numerous birds flying around, circling on the thermals. Great for views, a cup of tea in the evenings. I would absolutely stay here again.
Room is fairly basic, but that's absolutely outweighed by the wonderful balcony in the back of the hostel.

Reviewed Feb 11, 2025Francia welcome us and made sure that we had everything we needed. We felt very comfortable and at home. Our room was lovely with two large comfortable beds and a small balcony. There is a kitchen for basic use and a Beautiful view from the back porch where you can sit at tables and enjoy the view and quiet. It’s a lovely old building with squeaky wooden floors. And a perfect location only one block from the town Center.
As in many of the older buildings, the bathrooms are tiny. Also it would be helpful if the kitchen had a stove to cook on or microwave or something to be able to cook Food.

It's a bit old, but definitely worth it. Couldn't get the shower to be hot. Pillows were super uncomfortable, but for the second night the staff changed the pillows for us.

Reviewed Jul 28, 2023I had a great stay. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I got a better room upstairs with a window, bed was comfortable and the shower had hot water. Everything was spotlessly clean.
There is a kitchen, but you can't use it to cook! You can only make tea/coffee. The fridge is normally locked, they made an exception for me so I could use it. It is an old building and the rooms are not soundproof. If you are unlucky with other guests, it can get rather noisy.
