Gold Miners Cottage

Lovely remote cottage with two bedrooms. Amazing views from one of them. All kitchen appliances there so you can cook easily. Small jacuzzi outside property. Accommodating owners.

Small issue with cleanliness that was sorted out quickly.

The cottage is in a lovely rural location with wonderful views. Our stay was quiet and peaceful and the cottage has a great layout, perfect for our family of two adults and 2 children. The shower was nice and strong. When we stayed it was very cold and it was snowing on the mountains. This was beautiful but it did take a while to warm up the cottage. There were two electric heaters supplied so once we got these going the cottage did warm up. The listing mentions a fireplace but it is actually an electric plug in heater that has an LED flame, pretty to look at but it did not throw out much heat and kept switching itself off.

There were a few things that need attention to ensure a safe and comfortable stay for future guests. The bathroom lacks a fan so it stays quite damp which has led to black mold growing at the top of the walls and a musty smell in the bathroom. The two main lights in the bathroom were not working so it was a bit dark in there! There was one light still going so it was not completely dark. The bathroom heater was not working. There were no smoke alarms when we stayed, I could see two brackets, but the alarms had been removed. These should be reinstalled. We heard mice at night so we put our food into the fridge and microwave overnight to avoid it being eaten. We are aware the cottage is in the country and mice are common so we accepted this. There was no soap provided for the shower and no bathmat or face cloths, it would have been nice to provide these items or let us know to bring our own. Finally there was a soaking wet rug of some kind left on the only towel rack in the bathroom which was a bit off putting. We just left it where it was and hung our towels to dry in the living room. We would stay here again if passing through, and hope the mold issue can be rectified and smoke alarms installed.

It had a stunning scenery outlook.

The house was covered in spider webs inside and out with black spiders living on the ceilings inside. Felt like I was sleeping in used sheets in the single bedroom, quilt cover also had food stuck on cover. Kitchen cupboards and drawers weren’t clean. Outside area wasn’t maintained.

The view was stunning.

The property is quite tired and in need of an update - the bbq needs a deep clean. It would be helpful to provide fly spray in the property.

Unfortunately i got shocking by suddenly warm water changed to cold shower when i had shampoo on my head. I tried to turn Tab to Max still cold. I felt shaky, tried to put on heater henging the wall in bath. It didnt work, I dried up soap bubbles and asked my roommate to call the host at neighbour house, it seemed nobody there. Even the heater in bed room not connected to electricity. I paid 275NZD for this experience, feel quite disappointed. Hope the host fix this problem before it rented to the guests.

Table top not attached to frame. Cutlery drawer face fell off. Hot water in shower not consistent (went cold, waited for a while and then went cold again. 2nd person had chilly shower). No coffee or tea for breakfast. After 20 days in NZ was 1st place that didn't have coffee)

Fully appointed cottage with two bedrooms. BBQ available to use and the outdoor tub was the highlight of our stay. We were greeted by the friendly resident horse & rams upon arrival.

It is somewhat an off-grid cottage so stock up on your supplies for meals. Bathroom had black spores on ceiling that looked somewhat like mould, which our daughter has allergy to, she had a reaction during our stay.

We loved everything about the stay and will be telling everyone about it and will definitely be back .

The only thing I will say is as a help for next guests is the house need fans omg was so hot to sleep as couldn't have doors or windows open at night . So we cooked all the nights but other than that was amazing

This cottage is located in complete nature, far from everything, with breathtaking views of the mountains and stars on the sky. It is pure nature, without any nearby attractions, and that's exactly its charm. If you choose this kind of place and you are aware of it, it is the perfect spot to rest from everything and just be at peace.

Fabulous location with amazing views, so peaceful. Also nicely decorated and homely, loved the flame effect heater and outside bath. The lack of light pollution made for a wonderful evening of star gazing

The reason I chose this property for our one night stay was the location, the views and being surrounded by nature, in the middle of nowhere. The cottage is next to the hosts' house but private enough to feel like there is nobody nearby. We didn't have enough time to enjoy the hot bath tub outside surrounded by the views but would certainly like that!

We had an excellent one-night stay at Gold Miner’s Cottage. The location was serene and peaceful, and the cottage was very clean. We wish we could have stayed for a couple more days.

Beautiful stay at this cottage. Lovely to come home each evening after a hard day of holidaying to rest and enjoy the quiet. We Loved the views and the horse and sheep.

Only complaint was that the main bed was way too soft. Perhaps time for a new mattress !

Mold on the bathroom ceiling

Ensamheten, vyerna och SPA. Fint kök och BBQ veranda under tak men också möjlighet att sitta ute på gräset. Väldigt sköna sängar.

Vi hittade ingen bäddsoffa men det ordnade sig ändå. 🙂

Lovely little stopover.

Stunning setting. Son loved the outdoor spa bath.

Not that I didn't like but scrabble would be a fun game to asd to your collection and maybe a notepad and pen.

Accommodation was easy to find and private. The place looked freshly renovated and outdoor spa was a nice touch.

I really wanted to score my stay higher but unfortunately, the cleanliness left us disappointed. We found a very dirty/ used black g-string on the bedside table when my partner went to charge our phones. I disposed of it, but it was pretty gross to find and have to touch. Frying pan and BBQ were also not cleaned after the last guest and had oil everywhere. We cleaned both of these before leaving. Reached out to the hoist and haven't had a response so I am now leaving this review.

Great time at the cottage! So peaceful and loved the jacuzzi bath. Very private with the horses to watch. We are local so it was a great escape for us as a couple and we will keep it in mind when needing a getaway next time. Hosts were nice and flexible with check in/out times Great experience

Lovely little cottage in the middle of a field with the best shower we had on our trip. Strong and hot, not a weak dribble. Jenna is lovely and made us feel very welcome.

We had the most incredible stay at Gold Miners Cottage! Even though it was just for one night, it was truly unforgettable. The stars were absolutely mesmerizing, some of the clearest we’ve ever seen! Beyond the beautiful surroundings, our host Jenna was incredibly welcoming and kind. From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. Their attention to detail and hospitality made our short stay feel extra special. It’s clear they genuinely care about their guests, and we’re so grateful for the experience. If you’re looking for a serene escape with unbeatable stargazing and a host who goes above and beyond, this is the place to be. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

Perfect accommodation. On the grassland in the mountains, there is also a white horse accompanying us. Take a hot bath under the starry sky and in the wilderness at night to relieve the fatigue of the day.

I liked how quiet the place was and it was nice and small.

We didn’t get provided with much toilet paper or paper towels but that wasn’t much of an issue for us.

The property was very beautiful. We loved looking out at the sheep, the horses and the rolling hills. The host was always prompt with responses and helpful.

The view there is so good. The host is so friendly. We did experience a good stay there.

Was all great all we needed. However mr mouse made a visit overnight chewing food and seen him climbing curtain above rubbish bin jumped off there and darted underneath fridge. No drama tho we enjoyed

My stay was amazing, such a cute wee place.The view was great. My children loved the spa at night time, looking at the stars🤩.

Very clean, modern property with tasteful styling. No ugly bedding or old blankets. It had everything you needed. The spa bath was a lovely addition too.
