Sigiri Birds Hostel

Il dormitorio/casetta dove abbiamo soggiornato era spaziosa, i letti erano comodi, i bagni all’esterno puliti. C’è un ampio giardino con amache dove riposarsi e i proprietari hanno anche cucina e tavoli dove poter mangiare. La famiglia è stata super ospitale, hanno due bimbi bellissimi. Il proprietario mi ha mostrato un posto bellissimo dove ammirare il tramonto e vedere gli elefanti.

I had an amazing stay at this hostel. It's close enough to the city center to walk, but far away enough to have a good night sleep. The facilities are basic, but clean and decent. Don't expect a lot of luxury. The owners are extremely friendly and love to help you find your way around. Make sure to ask about the cooking class! By booking this hostel, you support a young local family. I would highly recommend staying here.

Everything was perfect; the hosts are incredibly generous people who offer great advice.

Host, the food there, they give a lot of useful information

The garden.. aww, the garden is so dreamy. And it’s super nice to chill there in the hammock. In general it’s a very peaceful place and the location is great. The dorms are small and the beds are super comfortable. Also the family is very sweet and are here for you when you are alone. The breakfast in the morning was simple and very delicious.

I had a amazing time with they family… She is so helpful, kind and friendly!! And they have two cute kids! The food is amazing, great location and confortable beds. I really recommend it for a local experience in Sigirya =)

Brilliant little bed& breakfast hideout bordering the jungle, the garden is a great spot to chill at night or reading a book. The owners have a good soul, providing activity options at a great price and doing everything to ensure your stay is no less than exceptional, and the restaurant they operate in front of the guesthouse is really really good.

The temperature in the room might get to a super high level and humidity even with fans working, so take that in mind and just sleep accordingly.

Il ragazzo mi ha portato in giro per Sigiriya a farmi scoprire dei luoghi poco turistici e meravigliosi e lei ha cucinato dei piatti super buoni. Per non parlarle dei loro figli che sono meravigliosi. Super consigliato

L’hospitalité, l’accueil très chaleureux. Deux hôtes bienveillants et aidants.

Le logement est simple et efficace, mais un petit «  rafraîchissement » semblerait être un plus ☺️

La struttura è a soli 20 minuti a piedi dalla strada principale, ci sono market e locali anche più vicini. I proprietari sono sempre stati super disponibili, gentili e accoglienti. Delle persone di cuore, i loro bambini adorabili. Mi sento di aver vissuto più di un soggiorno! 😊 Inoltre il ristorante presente nell’ostello, è buonissimo e la chef è la proprietaria!! Più che raccomandato se siete pronti a vivere un’esperienza un po’ più local 🙏

Sigiriya Bird Hostel was the best part of my Sri Lanka trip. The hostel is surrounded by nature and feels peaceful, but what truly makes this place special are the hosts, Nimesika (Akka) and Nuwaan. They treated me like family from day one. As a solo traveler, I never felt alone. Akka cared for me like a sister, and Nuwaan treated me like his younger brother, showing me around, helping me with everything, and expecting nothing in return. Because of them, I experienced the real Sri Lanka, not just the tourist places. Whenever I visit Sri Lanka again, I will definitely stay here, and next time I'll bring my family too. Thank you for the unforgettable memories. ❤️🇱🇰

家族の温かさをすごく感じられる場所です！ 外には、ハンモックがあってそこでゆっくりするのもおすすめです！ ご飯もすごく美味しいです！ いろんなことをとても親切に教えてくれます！

Famille très accueillante, gentille et arrangeante. Je recommande fortement ce logement, famille vraiment adorable et bienveillante, lieu très reposant et calme ; ils ont aussi un restaurant, les plats sont vraiment délicieuse.

It's a family run hostel by a young couple. They're very friendly and helpful with everything. Also have 2 very cute little children. They try their best to make you feel comfortable. They gave me some local tips for my visit. They can offer you a tuktuk ride to Lion's Rock, Pidurangala or Dambulla too! The place is very well located, very close to the village center, 5mins walk. It has a really big and nice garden where you can chill, lay on the hammock, watch the stars at night or play around with the children :) Room was big enough, comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Nimesika (the wife) prepares everything for you, including very delicious Sri Lankan meals. They also have a restaurant run by her in front of the property. Even though you don't stay there, you can go for lunch or dinner or drinks.

ライオンロックにも近く，便利でした。なにより、宿の方がとても良き家族で癒されました。次の目的地に行くバスに乗るのにダンブッラの石窟寺院を観光して行こうと思っていたのですが、すぐにトゥクトゥクを用意してくれました。カレーもとても美味しかったです。有難うございました。

Eine sehr herzliche junge Familie führt dieses Hostel. Es befindet sich in einer guten Lage und man kann alles zu Fuß oder mit dem Fahrrad (kann man sich im Hostel leihen) erreichen. Das Zimmer ist mit einem Ventilator ausgestattet und da es aktuell sehr heiß ist in Sri Lanka hat die Familie sogar noch ein zweiten besorgt. Es gibt ein schönen Garten mit Hängematten zum entspannten. Das Frühstück war super lecker und jeden Tag gab es etwas anderes. Doch besonders toll war die Familie - super lieb und hilfsbereit! Ganz lieben Dank für den tollen Aufenthalt!

The staff were nice.

The staff didn’t check us in and show us around d the property or how to use the facilities, they had no wifi and “we’re going to town to get some”, the door to our room didn’t come with a lock/key and there were monkeys everywhere (right outside our door which didn’t lock).

Mi estación fue muy buena, los dueños fueron amables en todo rato y se preocuparon por ayudarme en lo que necesitase, es un lugar bonito en una buena zona rodeado de la jungla increíble que hay, me comentó que a veces se ven elefantes salvajes cerca del recinto! Tenéis muy cerca el famoso Sigiriya Lion Rock! y Pidurangala rock! Sin duda fue un experiencia muy bonita!

I stayed at Sigiriya 5 nights and had the best time at the Sirigi Birds Hostel. The family running the homestay is amazing, extremely friendly and helpful. The garden is wonderful, you can enjoy the calm of having a nap in the hamac. Nimeshika is an amazing cook, breakfast is really great. I really recommend the hostel and the restaurant. Thank you and see you soon!

The hostel is simple yet charming and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Its location is perfect: surrounded by nature while still being very close to the main road and the bus stop, and also within easy reach of Lion Rock. The owners are incredibly kind and helpful, always ready to provide information and assist with organizing tours. They are also very caring and respectful towards animals, which is definitely a big plus and something that makes the place even more special.

Excellent price for what you get. Perfectly located near the main road, 5 minutes walk from the bus stop yet somehow quiet and surrounded by nature.

The owners are so welcoming and amazing people that makes your stay perfect. We came for one night ended up staying for 4 nights. Amazing Place to stay in sigiriya. The rooms are okay, only downside the bathroom Is outside the room and could be more clean;). But was the best place I stayed in Srilanka.

The owners of the hostel were so sweet and helpful with everything! Such a nice little family. The place is very central and in walking distance to Lions rock and some nice restaurants. Also their own restaurant is really good! I especially loved their backyard. It was really green and a nice quiet place. I definitely recommend staying there.

Initially i booked this hostel for only one day but when i arrived the host were the two couple and their two children they welcomed me just like my own family in India so I extended the stay for 2 more days. Also rooms were cleaned every day and washroom was neat and clean with hot shower. Nimishika and her husband Both were really nice and they helped me in everything her husband took me on his scooty for my money Exchange and to a telecom shop for my data pack. Also nimishika is really good cook. She makes really good food. I recommend this hostel for sure..

Nimeshika et Nuwan sont adorables, on se sent comme à la maison. Ils vous aideront à vous orienter et vous organiser. La cuisine de Nimeshika est très bonne. Si vous avez de la chance vous pouvez même apercevoir un éléphant ou deux au fond du jardin !

It is a family owned hostel. The husband and wife were really nice. They will help you go around and recommend places to go to.

There should be a rack to put towel for drying. Additional fan will be nice as well.

Absolutely gorgeous location, really feels like your in the jungle hearing the birds and even spotting a monkey on the roof one afternoon. The hostel is very warm and welcoming in a tranquil location.

I came here to sleep but got the most amazing experience with the family and extended my stay for two nights! They are so lovely, helpful and kind. Thanks to them I got to see lots of elephants after they organized a safari for me. They also showed me around town and I got to see how traditional dishes are prepared. The rooms are simple and have everything you need. No bunk beds! Overall highly recommend.

Emplacement idéal! Chambre classique sans clim dans un très joli jardin. Chouette petite famille, très à l'écoute et ultra disponible, grace à eux on a pu découvrir ce merveilleux triangle culturel, son mari a un tuktuk et peut vous conduire partout (moyennement un supplément hyper abordable). On a pu profiter à fond et se déconnecter à 100%. En plus elle parle parfaitement anglais et connait les bons tuyaux alors que cela fait seulement 5 mois qu'ils ont ouvert leur hostel. Si vous voulez de la tranquillité et de la bienveillance c'est l'endroit qu'il vous faut. Je recommande vivement . Encore merci pour tout Nimeshika et Nuwan.

Owners were very sweet, infact they also made arrangements for our local trips and site- seeing, never miss this spot when in sigiri especially solo travellers if you want to feel home and safe go ahead with no doubt

El hostel es de una familia y tienen un terreno grande con árboles y naturaleza. Está a tan solo 2 mins de una calle principal donde puedes coger los Tuk tuks y desplazarte . Ahí encontrarás más restaurantes. Ellos fueron encantadores preguntándome y recomendándome sitios o ayudándome con lo que necesitara saber sobre el viaje. Son encantadores y tienen dos hijos preciosos y muy buenos. La habitación tiene varias camas pero es grande y el baño está en la propia habitación, también grande y limpio, con lo básico necesario. Me ha encantado estar en esta estancia, de las más bonitas de mi viaje.

Me encantó este alojamiento porque estaba rodeado de naturaleza. Eran habitaciones compartidas, la cama muy cómoda y el baño grande. Todo limpio. Tenía ventilador en la habitación. Y unos lockers para lo más importante con tu llave. La entrada es preciosa y el Restaurante que tienen, más que un restaurante parece como el salón del hostal y la propia dueña te hace la comida. Son una familia encantadora. Aún así cabe decir que el hostal está tan solo a 2 mins de la carretera principal y de muchos restaurantes de la zona. Siempre recomiendan coger tuktuk por los elefantes.

La famille qui tient l’auberge est adorable, ils sont attentifs à nos besoins et nous aident volontiers pour toute question ou organisation. La chambre est confortable et bien équipée. La localisation est superbe, à 30 minutes à pied du rocher du lion et c’est calme. Je recommande vivement!

We had the best time with Nimeshika, and her family ! They took the time to help us find the best places to eat, see and do ! We really felt like we were a part of the family and it was amazing ! The rooms were great and all that goes with it !The hostel is in the center of Sigiraya, you can walk really easily to see the lion rock and Tuktuk are always nearby. The buses are also a great way to go around ! It was the best choice for our 7 days in Sigiraya. Thanks for that amazing experience!

Vraiment un super hostel que je recommande vivement! Tout en simplicité, tenu par un jeune couple vraiment adorable, très serviable, curieux et ouvert. Le petit déjeuner est très bon et la cuisine du restaurant attenant est délicieuse. Le lieu très agréable, tranquille et reposant, à l'écart de la route, très bien situé, tout est accessible à pied. J'ai aussi eu l'occasion d'y faire un cours de cuisine, un tour en tuktuk pour aller voir le coucher du soleil, et d'être déposée au départ du sentier du pidurangula rock pour aller voir le lever du soleil. On s'y sent bien, un peu comme en famille. Allez-y les yeux fermés !

I'm absolutely smitten with this hostel! It's run by an adorable family who makes you feel right at home. The stay is super comfortable and cozy, with spotless washrooms and large beds that are perfect for a good night's sleep. I stayed for a week and loved every minute of it! What really sets this place apart is the warm hospitality. If you're traveling solo, you won't feel alone - the whole family showers you with love and care, making you feel like part of the family. And if you're looking to learn some authentic Sri Lankan cooking, Nimeshikha's classes are a must! She's an amazing teacher, whipping up delicious dishes with love, patience, and a smile. Plus, she's super kind and generous - she even offered food to those in need! I also loved that I could practice yoga comfortably on the premises - there's plenty of space to sit, relax, and even unwind in a hammock. If you're looking for a place that feels like home, look no further. The family is super helpful, and you'll leave feeling like you've made some wonderful friends. I'm already missing them and can't wait to go back!

Nimeshikha is a wonderful, kind host. Staying in this hostel feels like a genuine cultural experience as you feel part of the family and the two little children are always running around and wanting to interact with you. Nimeshikha serves a delicious breakfast every day and she has her restaurant on site if you wish to eat lunch or dinner! My top tip: don't book any tours on Getyourguide as Nimeshikha's husband can arrange everything at a cheaper price! I arrived in Sigiriya with no plan, but the two hosts were able to advise me and help me organise everything. I extended my stay by two more nights and had three beautiful days exploring Sigiriya and nearby sites. A big thank you to Nimeshikha and Nuwan!

I had a great stay with this lovely and open young family. They even help you with organizing your trips around town and to local sights! The place situated really central close to the main road and the restaurants ect there. The room was good and the other people were friendly. At the restaurant they prepared fresh food for us. Please note that it's a females only dorm and for the moment it's the only room - altough they are working on making another dorm.

What I Loved: Nuwan, the owner, is an incredibly friendly host. He didn’t just welcome us, he took care of us – literally driving us around, showing us all the best spots in Sigiriya, and recommending hidden gems we would’ve never found ourselves (including a stunning sunset spot!). He’s well connected with all the local tourist activities and goes out of his way to arrange everything smoothly for his guests. His wife is equally lovely and cooked us authentic Sri Lankan meals. Don’t expect fancy restaurant-style food..it’s wholesome, traditional, and adds to the warm, family-style experience. Their constant smiles, and genuine hospitality made us feel completely at home. And yes, their two kids are absolutely adorable! Location: The location is perfect – tucked away in a quiet, secluded area, very close to all the major attractions in Sigiriya. There are also 3-4 other guesthouses within walking distance where you can go for lunch or dinner.  At night, the sky is filled with stars – peaceful and magical. *PRO TIP: Definitely go for a walk at night! We thought we saw a shooting star, but it turned out to be a firefly – the tree at the entrance lights up with fireflies at night. Pure magic! ✨ Stay: The guest house has one big shared room with four single beds, each with mosquito nets. There's a long common bathroom – simple and clean. It’s nothing fancy, and you’ll need to bring your own toiletries (though Nuwan will happily help you out if you forget something). We were two friends and shared the room with a solo traveler. we had great conversations and made a new friend. It’s a lovely place for solo travelers to meet people and share stories! Overall, it’s a budget-friendly, clean, and homely place where the hosts’ hospitality makes any small flaws feel irrelevant We left with full hearts and unforgettable memories. Highly recommend staying here if you're visiting Sigiriya!

While the stay was overall lovely, there are a few things to keep in mind. The place is very simple and basic—just one large shared room with four beds and a long common bathroom, so don’t expect luxury or privacy. You’ll need to bring your own toiletries. The meals are homemade and authentic, which adds to the experience, but they’re quite simple—so if you're expecting restaurant-style or richly flavored food, you might be a little underwhelmed. That said, the warmth of the hosts more than makes up for these small things.

The Hostel is ownd by a lovely family. I really liked staying with them. It was a quite and relaxing place with big beds. The bathroom was very clean. I can really recommend staying there.

From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. This charming hostel is run by the kindest couple you can imagine. The mother prepares delicious meals in her cozy restaurant, and the father took us on one of the most beautiful tours we’ve ever done – full of stunning views and authentic local experiences. Everything here is filled with heart and soul. Their warmth and genuine hospitality turned our stay into something truly special. It’s rare to find such a welcoming, family-like atmosphere. If you’re looking for a place with personality, comfort, and unforgettable people – this is it. Highly recommended from the bottom of my heart!

The bathroom is not the best and if the fan is on also the light is on which is quite disruptive for sleeping

When I arrived I was welcomed by the family (with 2 kids) with some nice tea. Afterwards the husband propsed to do a free scooter tour and we’ve passed some beautiful sights, including the secret lake where you had a view on both the Pidugala rock and the Lion rock. They also were helpful for tuktuk drives (paid) at any arranged hour. In the room I was the only one so I could choose a bed. The bed was comfortable and had a musquito net. There was also 1 fan in the room and the bathroom was specious en clean. In the morning I also got served some delicous breakfast. Would really recommend this place because of the location, value for money, delicious food and the hospitality of the family.

Best Hostel in Sigiriya! I had the best stay at this hostel, the owners were so friendly and kind, it felt like being part of the family. Also the host helped with an incident and took me to the tourist police which was very kind. Also the two kids of them are so cute, especially little Mihel. I will never forget this place and keep this time in my memory forever. 10000000% recommendation 🥰

The owner lady is such an amazing woman! She mentioned that I’m the first guest from Bangladesh in her hostel, which is such a special feeling. She’s incredibly kind, and the food is great too. Breakfast is included, which makes it even better! Each bed is equipped with a mosquito net, ensuring a comfortable stay.

The owner was so helpful and sweet, and her food was really good. Down the road there's also a nice restaurant and everything was quite close, 2 nights was the perfect amount.

Bear in mind the place doesn't have AC, and sometimes the region has shortage, so it can get hot.

I had a great stay here. The room and bathroom were clean, there was a hot shower and a small terrace to sit on in the evenings. The family is lovely and help with all questions. They also offer a great cooking class which shows traditional cooking. I would come back again!

Absolutely adore this hostel and the hosts. They were the sweetest couple, who were always around to help you, give tips and also make you delicious food. I did a cooking class with them for 3000, which was incredible and so much cheaper than any other places and gave you a more authentic experience. I 100% recommend doing this is you are staying. They have a small restaurant where you can chill at and also a hammock. There was only one room, a four female dorm. It did get a little hot at times as there was only one fan for the room to share. It was clean and had a large bathroom. The location is perfect, just off the main street with some restaurants and mini stores around, but also a short walk to even more restaurants and it is fine walking to lion rock and pidurangala rock. If I came back I would definitely come back to stay and will recommend to all my friends that I know will be coming this way. Thank you for 💚

I really liked this cute little hostel. Very chilled vibes and friendly hosts. The location is amazing as it's close to the rocks and another lake. The beds were quite big and a mosquito net was there as well.

The door of the bathroom is broken, so you can't close it and also the fan didn't really work. But it was still cold enough as we left the windows open during the night.

The friendliness of the host family! They make you feel right at home in a little hut surrounded by nature. It was super special to have learned how to cook dhal curry with string hoppers one night with the host for our dinner!!

The cleanliness of the toilet could be improved

The hostel is small only offering four double beds in one room for women only. Breakfast is included.

It was very damp, and whether that was because of the rain I don’t know, but everything felt wet, nothing would dry. Also there was no power for nearly the whole day on my second night but again not the fault of the hostel. I was robbed by a young women of nearly all my money here so make sure you lock it away. Again not the fault of the hostel.

I arrived at this hostel to spend one night and ended up 4 and leaving was completely heartbroken 🥹❤️‍🩹It is a family hostel where I felt like one of the family, I am very very happy and grateful to have been lucky enough to find such a ✨special ✨place to which I will definitely return and of course recommend, because thanks to the hosts my experience in Sigiriya was spectacular🌄. So thank you very much family ❣️❣️ And wait for me because insha'Allah I will return as soon as I can🧡🐘🌴💙

Room was lovely, big bed and misquote net. Shower had hot water and there was a lockable cupboard for valuables. Hosts were so kind, very helpful and genuinely wanted to make sure everyone had a nice stay.
