It is located very close to the ferry yet in a lovely natural setting away from the hustle and bustle. Breakfast is just delicious and lovely sitting at the big table
It is an authentic house with lots of love and Carter. The host is very friendly and helpful.
Nonie was a most gracious and kind host. Her breakfasts were delicious. Know that the $20pp fee for breakfast must be paid in cash or Interact and luckily we had some cash with us. Our room was disappointing it was small and you had to go down stairs to get to the toilet and bathtub. An elderly person may have trouble getting down the stairs and getting in and out of the bathtub. We had an email from Nonie saying we we would be on the 3rd floor on our 2nd night but then upon arrival Nonie said that room was booked and we’d remain in the Tir na nog room for both nights. I suspect the other rooms were likely better than the one we had. At age 66 I had trouble navigating getting in and out of the tub. So if you can avoid the Tir na nog room you are probably OK.
The location was good.
It was historic with beautiful dining and sitting rooms. The hostess was very welcoming.
Needed to make sure the light was on before going down the steps to the bathroom.
Owner was really sweet and made a fantastic breakfast (as it should be for $20 pp!) Bed sheets and covers exceptionally comfortable. Parking was super close & secure. Pretty garden in front.
I suppose it's because it's an older property, but no outlets near bed. Smell of laundry detergent overwhelming in bed - but eventually you become "nose-blind". Hardly anywhere to put our stuff down (there was kitch everywhere!), no blinds AT ALL over the many windows (3rd floor) means you ARE UP with the sun, and it feels very "exposed" while in a state of undress - even though no one would ever likely see you. Hanger over RR door clangs loudly each time it's shut and door knob nearly is falling out. Some basic upkeep is badly needed.
We had a wonderful stay. The beds were very comfy, the breakfast was delicious. The facilities were great and our hosts were lovely and welcoming.
Breakfast was not included, it usually is at a B&B.
A few years back I did a walk thru hike in Scotland and this stay took me right back to that time as it was similar to some of the houses we stayed at in Scotland.
Beautiful old mansion set in wonderful grounds.Clean and the hostess owner was delightful. Interesting place to stay.
There are stairs to climb which are to be expected in a three story place. Unfortunately for me my knee was aching.
A convenient location to catch the ferry.
A very old building with lots of creaks.
Beautiful building, lovely hosts
The host gave us a wonderful recommendation for dinner in North Sydney. Breakfast was a feast, with pancakes and eggs and fruit. Nonie even brewed me a pot of herbal tea.
The weather, unfortunately was a massive rainstorm. So, we didn't get to enjoy the outdoor grounds. And it rained loudly all night long. Nothing could be done about that!
The host, the place, delicious breakfast, overall wonderful experience.
Nonie was a good host and gave us a recommendation for a great restaurant. The room was spacious and comfortable with a lot of history and character.
Great host. Great location to the ferry and town.
The home itself was unique with historic & stately charm. Lovely spacious grounds & parking space. Breakfast was delicious all homemade with lots of choice. The host was gracious, informative, friendly & accommodating.
Air conditioning could have been better but was not a deal breaker.
Good location, pool and hot tub looked great although we didnt use. Good supply of water in fridge in room. Pool towels available. No info on website but there was a hair dryer in bathroom along with shampoo and conditioner. Quiet. Bedding seemed clean (although felt like cheap quality) and King bed was comfortable.
The room was incredibly dusty and it didnt look like it gets swept pr vacummed between guests as there were crumbs on floor. Lots of squished bug marks on ceiling (we added one while killing a spider).. next day noticed daddy long legs x 2 above mirror in bedroom (I have arachnophobia so not happy, and from all the bug squish marks on ceiling I dont think this was a one off). Dropped something beside bed and looked under it, and the side table, and gross, thick layer of dust bunnies. Wall lights either side of bed fill of cobwebs and dust, fake flower arrangement in room covered in thick dust. Everything just felt dirty. Place is for sale so I geel like the bare minimum is being done. We would not recommend the place to anyone who likes cleanliness in their accommodations.
This place was perfect for our 2-night stay. Nonie was kind and helpful with information. It was private and everything we needed. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to try the hot tub!
Tolles Ambiente!
Fantastic hosts, beautiful property, Short drive to the ferry
Bed was not comfortable
The Manor is a beautiful historic home on a spectacular property.
We only stayed one night-arrived late and left early, so can’t be a good judge.
Our host was very gracious. The room was spacious and clean. The entire building and property is very interesting with unique rooms. Would definitely stay when in the area again.
Such an interesting building. A lovely, quiet location.
Host was very welcoming. Loved our discussion a breakfast with her. It was a nice surprise to find there was an inground pool for guests to use.
Incredible historic mansion with so much character and charm. The host was very personable, warm and attentive. Breakfast was delicious. The grounds of the property were equally beautiful. I highly recommend this place and would love to stay there again.
Nothing
Our hostess was wonderful and gave us a good welcome and a fantastic breakfast. Property full of character and gorgeous swimming pool.
Beautiful house in a quiet yet convenient location
Superb breakfast.
The bed was very comfortable.
The front room looked a little cluttered and we were ask if we wanted breakfast and if we did, it would be $20 extra per person. We thought a bed and breakfast included breakfast or at least that’s what it said on the website. We left at 7:00 and no one was up. The host nor any of the guest.
Oh what an absolute delight! It was the most beautiful time and place, and I only stayed for a night! I wish I could have stayed longer! It was so beautiful, clean, and just a masterpiece of a manor. I feel so lucky to have stayed!
Nothing!
This is a beautiful older mansion, well maintained, beautiful grounds and gardens. It is a close drive to the ferry going to Newfoundland.
Beautiful property and lovely hospitality
Leaving
Comfortbale slaapkamer, groot, goede bedden. Goede ontvangst wifi. Lekker ontbijt en niet duur. Parkeer aan huis. Mooi historisch oud pand Vlakbij ferry haven.
Niks
The history of the place. We loved the surrounding of the home. The grounds were beautiful. Noni was friendly and was attentive to our needs. She served a beautiful breakfast.
Nothing. Everything was beautiful.
Friendly welcome. Excellent breakfast. Clean and comfortable. Convenient for the ferry. Highly recommended.
None
Quaint, clean, very friendly.
Short
Nonie went above and beyond to help us out when circumstances were beyond our control.
The history! Friendly hostess, clean and bright, good food.
Our third guest would have liked an ensuite, understandably difficult in an old house. Location required a bit of driving but afforded a nice flavor of the area!
Excellent breakfast. Comfortable rooms. Very convenient to the ferry.
All good
Homely feeling, Nonie was the consummate hostess, the mansion had a vintage, classy atmosphere.
Accueil de l’hôtesse
Lovely large rooms, beautiful property, helpful hosts a great stop for us.
Stately historic house. Comfortable bed, everything in good working order. The hosts were lovely. Lovely breakfast.
No complaints
The room was clean and comfortable, the owner gave us an option of two different rooms to chose from both with ensuites. Room and bathroom were very clean, lots of updates to bathroom and bedroom but still kept with that old mansion feel.
Nonie is a fabulous host. The room was lovely. The bed was comfy. Breakfast was delightful.
Nonie cooks an amazing breakfast - none better.
Excellent accueil! Endroit formidable, très confortable! Le petit déjeuner était délicieux et copieux!
Old manoir house kept in tip top shape.Owner was very accommodating.very clean.Would stay there again!
Nothing
Absolutely loved this unique bnb experience!! The mansion is a treasure trove of history! Our room was clean, stocked with essentials. We looked forward to the best breakfast everyday, it’s 20$ per person all you can eat and you just need to let Nora know a night before. Super close to North Sydney, Sydney, Big Brass D’or. Is the perfect entry way to the Cabot trail. Would definitely recommend!!
Bien situé et superbes hôtes.
The breakfast was absolutely excellent1
there is a welcoming HOME feeling, Noni creates with her essence of LOVE through life’s experiences, Noni is a special musical talent enveloping you with a warm hug welcome! together with her partner, they managed to restore an incredible piece of our history into a charming, welcoming, historic Inn, every traveller going thru our province should stop in…….you won’t leave the same! this I promise, you also receive a delicious hot cooked breakfast, if by choice, sure to enjoy the company around the table, you would think you were in your own diningroom, its the comfort! that makes it real! I have travelled extensively in my 61 years, trust me on this one, one in a million stars from me!
The old trees, the character of the time! the ghosts running around, silence in the garden brings the same sounds
The location was good. The owner was very friendly. It was a very nice historic building.
If we had added the breakfast at $20.00 each it would’ve made it pretty pricey for the accommodation in my opinion. The bed and the pillows were not very comfortable for what you paid.
Host was more than welcoming
Very Interesting building!
Breakfast was served beautifully. Our host made our breakfast to order! Delicious! Endless good coffee!
Breakfast was hot.
Stairs down from bed to bathroom. A little hairy at night. Shower was in an old clawfoot tub. I kept stepping on the shower curtain.
We had the most wonderful stay at the Celtic Mansion. The property is absolutely beautiful and full of character. From the moment we pulled into the driveway, we were greeted with a warm welcome from Nonie (and her sweet dog!). We spent a magical evening under the stars in the hot tub and enjoyed a delicious homemade breakfast the next morning. To make it even more special - we got engaged on the property during our stay ❤
