Very nice staff and a comfortable room. Pool was nice. Nice surroundings

Restaurant could have been closer to rooms. Could do with a bar near pool area. Had quite a few bugs invade our room because of the rain but did not really bother us but some people it might. Being where it is I suppose it’s inevitable. Staff were really nice including the operations manager and restaurant manager. Reception staff not very welcoming.

La zona de aparcamiento estaba en obras. Estaban construyendo una carpa exterior.

The room we had , also our excellent balcony , Isura definitely the star of the restaurant . We also had an unexpected fruit platter brought to us whilst we where watching the buffalo cross the river . Just class

There was an upper deck accessible to all guests with great views. It was really peaceful up there.

We had booked a “pool view” room on the Ground Floor at Thimbiri Wewa Resort, Wilpattu and stayed there on 18 th August, 2026. Opting for a “pool view” room turned out to be a big mistake. In most Resorts, pool facing rooms normally offer a nice view. But out here, and strangely though, the pool is located right next to the parking lot. Furthermore, the aisle running along Room 001,002 and 003 leads to the reception and vehicles come right upto the edge of Room 001, which we were allotted. This was causing disturbance when luggage was being loaded / unloaded or people conversing loudly while waiting to be picked up. When we requested for a quiet room, the staff said they could not help as they were running full. On our suggestion, they did block the aisle by placing chairs and that helped a wee bit only. So, while Rooms 001 – 003 are indeed pool facing, they are right at the entrance and next to the parking lot. Certainly not a good choice for someone looking for a quiet room with a nice pool view.

The rooms were amazing.. we found the staff to be really attentive, friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic and a tranquil lakefront setting.

The food in the hotel wasn’t the best I’ve tried in sr Lanka.

Nous sommes actuellement au thimbiri wewa resort à wilpattu, nous sommes arrivés assez tôt pour profiter de la piscine, et la surprise du chef la piscine est verte, tous les clients de l’hôtel sont en tenue de piscine et personnes n’ose mettre un pied dans l’eau. Je préviens le personnel de l’hôtel que la piscine est vaseuse, trouble et glissante au toucher. Le manager se précipite à l’extérieur pour constater, il me dit de ne pas aller dans l’eau, mais ne ferme pas la piscine aux autres clients pour autant. Ils se mettent à rallumer les pompes éteintes à notre arrivée, à vider l’eau de la piscine à l’aide de gros tuyaux au fond du jardin, font des aller et retour tout en cachant les résultats de leurs tests. Nous demandons à juste titre une remise sur notre chambre. Car on va pas se le cacher, nous avons choisi cette hôtel pour son emplacement mais surtout sa piscine qu’ils facturent 30 à 40% plus cher qu’un hôtel sans piscine. Nous avons payé 194e pour une chambre familiale Le manager revient en me disant que son directeur nous octroie 10% sur le restaurant de l’hôtel soit 3€. Je rigole encore de son offre, il me propose 20% soit 6e sur le restaurant en me demandant de ne pas en parler aux autres clients et de ne pas émettre d’avis. Nous sommes allés au restaurant le personnel y est vraiment charmant, surtout ne prenez pas le buffet, c’est très cher et surtout ce n’est pas bon. Maintenant parlons de la chambre, tout est conforme à nos attentes, la baignoire est merveilleuse, néanmoins elle met 1h à se vider! Pas pratique quand on est 4 à devoir prendre une douche sachant que la douche est dans la baignoire. On se lave dans l’eau sale des autres. Et je termine avec la cerise sur le gâteau, un joli spécimen de cafard ou de blatte présent sur le lavabo. Nous sommes à la fin de de notre séjour au srilanka, est c’est bien la première fois que nous avons cette qualité d’hôtel. Je vous déconseille vivement cette établissement.

Very convenient for wilpattu safari. Comfortable rooms and the roof top viewing area was great. Nice balcony to sit out on. Packed breakfast provided for early safari starts.

Foto's op booking zijn niet de foto's van de juiste kamer. Zeer misleidend en ze weten dit. Teleurstelling dus als je daar aankomt en je ziet dat je geen zicht op het meer hebt zoals op de foto's te zien is. We hebben hen hierop aangesproken en met een lichte smile op hun gezicht zeiden ze dat enkel de 2 persoonskamers mooi uitzicht hebben op het meer. De foto's van de 2-persoonskamers voegen ze toe bij de voorstelling van de superior familiekamers. De afvoer van de douche en wastafel is verstopt. Wanneer je een douche neemt sta je in het vuil water met je voeten. 1 van de lampen van de verlichting van het zwembad was losgekomen en deze lag aangesloten op de rand van het zwembad. Buffet in restaurant trok ronduit op niks, het eten was lauw. Neem gewoon à la carte. Bij uitchecken zeer goed de rekening bekijken, want er is miscommunicatie tussen restaurant en receptie. Hou de afrekeningen telkens bij. Wij hebben 20 min staan discussiëren over eten dat we reeds betaald hadden in het restaurant. Uiteindelijk zijn we de afrekening gaan zoeken in de vuilbak van onze kamer om aan te tonen dat ons eten reeds betaald was. Kortom dit hotel is prijs kwaliteit zeer duur voor de service dat je er maar krijgt. Wij raden dit hotel niet aan. Ons hotel van 34€ voor 4 personen de nacht ervoor was beter dan hier.

Ontzettend mooie, schone en nette locatie. Overal is aan gedacht. De perfecte uitvalsbasis voor een safari naar Wilpattu.

Heel mooie en ruime kamer, zalig bad met zicht op de tuin. Heel vriendelijk personeel. Op de dag van onze safari kregen we een ontbijtbox. Mooi zwembad en extra pluspunt (en verrassing) was het speelpleintje in de tuin voor onze kids.

Lovely view over the lake and in close proximity to Wilpattu national park. The hotel arranged our hotel transfers and safari. Both were excellent.

Restaurant is by the road and does not utilise the view of the hotel. Note construction was occurring at the time we visited.

Uitstekend kleinschalig hotel. Prima kamers met uitstekende bedden. Leuk zwembad. Goed ontbijt. De safari wordt door het hotel geregeld met goede drivers. Wij waren dik tevreden.

Helemaal niets. Puntje van aandacht, kussens op de stoelen in het restaurant.

De rustige ligging vlak bij Wilpattu National Park was ideaal. Het resort is sfeervol opgezet, de kamers zijn comfortabel en het personeel was uitzonderlijk vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Ook het eten was lekker en de service voelde persoonlijk en gastvrij aan.

Er waren enkele onderhoudspunten zichtbaar, waardoor het resort hier en daar wat gedateerd oogde.

We found multiple spider webs in the room, faucet was loose and the guy at the front desk tried to have us leave 10/10 review before we were allowed to check out which we didn’t like. Also very overpriced compared to the other hotels in the area.

Het uitzcicht aan het zwembad en dat je dichtbij Wilpattu zit

Voor deze hoog prijs verwacht ik er meer van. Er liep zoveel personeel. Ze doen alles voor je als je het ze vraagt maar er is 0 proactiviteit. Zo was het zwembad best vies en moesten we er om vragen om het schoon te maken. Volgende dag hetzelfde, toen hebben we het maar zelf gedaan. Ook in het restaurant, veel personeel, maar weinig kwaliteit. Ook js er geen vergunning voor alochol, dus alleen maar non, geen ramp, wel beetje raar..

Mooie familiekamer met groot diep bad. Er was een fijn zwembad met uitzicht over de tuin en groot meer. Aardige mensen bij de balie. Ze hebben een geweldige safari voor ons geregeld tegen een goede prijs en met uitstekende gids en chauffeur. Je ontbijt en lunch wordt goed verpakt meegegeven. Echt aanrader!

Het restaurant was middelmatig qua eten en vrij duur.

Ligging aan het meer, leuke kamer

Weinig warmte bij het personneel. Zwak ontbijt . Water van het zwembad was troebel. Dure prijzen in het restaurant [ 6 euro voor een milkshake)

Ligging tov Wilpattu is super, mooi gebouw, mooie kamers, goede bedden, gids en driver (Jianith en Lio) die ze geregeld hadden voor de safari waren top, ontbijt- lunchpakket voor de safari in orde, diner buffet was ok (Coco Hut vlakbij is veel authentieker en lekkerder).

Kamer zat vol kleine mieren (en andere heel kleine beestjes), lawaaierig (muziek bleek uit het eigen restaurant te komen om 4u in de ochtend waar men de ontbijtpakketten aan het maken was), hotel had aangeboden om mee naar een ATM te rijden (manager reed zowaar zelf met de tuk tuk van het hotel, samen met nog een andere hotelgast) en vroeg hier voor mijn rit 2.000 LKR voor achteraf - duurste rit in Sri Lanka tot dusver 🤔 Hotel heeft héél veel potentieel maar er is nog (management) werk.

Stayed here as to older male travellers to visit safari park, amazing hotels, stunning food and fantastic staff, having travelled Sri Lanka before this hotel has been one of the best

Not a didn't like, but don't don't serve alcohol, which wasn't an issue for us, but something to mention.

Very good quality hotel and rooms

We were the only guests on the night we stayed. Restaurant staff looked after us but there was no wine or beer (no alcohol allowed). This is not normally a big issue but we wanted to celebrate an anniversary with some drinks - we would have liked to have known before, we could have brought our own.

Lekker dichtbij het Wilpattu park. We hebben hier een duik genomen na de safari, en in het restaurant gegeten. Het hotel heeft een buffet, en het is niet de meest authentieke lokale keuken maar het smaakte ons zeker wel. Comfortabele kamer met een mooi terras met zicht op het meer.

Thimbiri Wewa is a wonderful little hotel near Wilpattu National Park. Great location and atmosphere. Staff are friendly. The food at the restaurant is tasty and provides a good mix of Sri Lankan and international options. The rooms are comfortable. The beds are firm (which suited us well). This is a good place to get away from it all.

Signage is lacking - for example, there is nothing to tell guests that the restaurant is a separate building near the entrance to the property. Wifi is AWFUL - signal kept dropping and was extremely slow. Rooms are a little dated and the placement of light switches makes absolutely no sense. There were also a lot of ants.

Einen Föhn habe ich vermisst Unsere Kreditkarte DKB hatte dort nicht funktioniert, daher mussten wir Geld vom ATM besorgen, der leider etwas entfernt ist.

De var meget hjælpsomme, vi havde en syg datter som de bekymrede sig meget om. De hjælpe med læge og transport, serverede mad på værelset osv. Hjælpsomhed helt i top 😊

Kamer vol met mieren en andere insecten, ook tussen de lakens etc. Oplossing vanuit hun was de kamer volspuiten met mieren gif waar we vervolgens verzocht werden in te slapen omdat er geen andere kamers vrij waren zogenaamd

Very nice property, clean and spacious rooms. We organised our safari and pick ups with the hotel directly. Our safari driver didn’t speak English very well which was tricky but we still had a good experience. The staff was overly polite.

Really beautiful place to stay at the end of our travels 🥰 gorgeous pool and garden area to walk around. Helpful staff who arrange your breakfast and lunch if you go on an all day safari! Safari guide was really nice and took care of us☺️ Thought the room was lovely, fresh drinking water every day. Good breakfast & restaurant has a wide range of food options. Really good value for money😊

Arriving in the dark, we were initially disappointed as it felt like the hotel was in a big car park. However, in daylight as long as you look outwards from the hotel it was a lovely setting. The food in the restaurant wasn’t very good.

The pool was excellent. It was not deep, so my little one could enjoy the whole pool. Food was so delicious. Room service was on time and very helpful. Staff was very friendly and assisted us through out the stay. Rooms were so clean, neatly presented. The bathrooms were the best of all. Showers were really good and enjoyed the bath time alot.

Resort needs pest control. There were some tiny insects outside the corridor.

Das Personal war extrem freundlich. Sie sind bemüht einen hohen Standard zu haben. Es war ein luxuriöser Hotel. Der Safari Tourguide von ihrem Hotel, war auch top klasse. Das Hotel ist sehr im Grünen gelegen und man konnte auf dem Dach den Sonnenuntergang bewundern. Wir würden es nochmals buchen.

Located close to national park but nothing else is in the area. Modern property, good air con in room, set back from road so quiet. Sri Lankan breakfast was good. Staff friendly. They organised our safari and that was good. Nothing to do with the hotel - Unfortunately sighting of animals was minimal - less animals but also far less jeeps than Yala.

The location was great for Wilpattu National Park. The facilities were great and breakfast was excellent. I enjoyed the restaurant and variety of food as well as the pool. The breakfast and lunch for all day safaris was very good.

One of the best places we stayed at during my trip to Sri Lanka. The rooms are very modern and comfortable, the staff were extremely friendly and accomodating, and the food at the restaurant was excellent (the Sri-lankan brekafast is a must have). Highly recommend
