The Corran

Our hostess, Pauline was an absolute joy. She made everyone feel very welcome and went above and beyond in satisfying the needs of guests. The breakfasts were excellent and met the needs of every individual guest. The room was comfortable with superb views filling the windows. We will definitely return.

Absolutely spotless and full of charm! The cleanest place we stayed during our entire two-week road trip -and believe me, after 14 days on the road, we became professional critics of dust and bathroom cleanliness! 😂 The bedroom and bathroom were absolutely spotless. The room was beautifully decorated, with so much attention to detail. You can really tell that a lot of love and care has gone into making guests feel comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and clearly made with love. Everything felt fresh, homemade and thoughtfully prepared. And then there’s Pauline- what an outstanding host! Full of charm, warmth and personality, with a wonderfully personal approach to every guest. Her fantastic sense of humour was the cherry on top. We genuinely felt at home here. And honestly, where else in the world can you stay somewhere where the host is happily singing away in the kitchen while preparing your breakfast, chatting with you like you’ve known each other for years, and making you feel like part of the family? This wasn’t just a place to stay- it was an experience, and one we’ll remember for a long time. We absolutely loved it and would happily come back in a heartbeat. Thank you, Pauline, for making our stay so special!

Very welcoming, lovely building and comfortable room and host was very attentive, friendly and couldn’t have done any more for my stay. Breakfast was in point and a fab set up for the rest of the day!

The welcome from Pauline was wonderful. The food delicious, location walking distance into town. Easy to find. Had a delivery sent to the accommodation too. Pauline has been very helpful. She was full of advice about eateries etc. Room was spacious, showers hot, bed very comfy. Had use of the fridge for our chilled stuff, very useful. Plenty of plug sockets and usb chargers for phones etc. we were in the old Surgery room downstairs. It's been great to stop here and will come again when in the area.

Not that we didn't like it, but the entrance to the B&B is narrow and needing care. Wider vehicles might struggle. Our vehicle Toyota Alphard was ok.

The Corran is situated in a lovely village/town called Lochgilphead and acts as a good base for travelling around the surrounding area. The Corran is an older building that retains many of it's interior features which is nice to see. Best of all was the host, Pauline Marshall. She really makes the place with her good humour, banter, brilliantly cooked breakfast and her "Angelic" singing voice. We have already booked to go back next year as it was that good. I would recommend the Corran to anyone.

Een prachtig oud doktershuis wat omgebouwd is tot een B&B met meerdere kamers. De locatie is zeer mooi met uitzicht op het water. De kamers waren ruim en zeer schoon en netjes onderhouden.

De ‘gastvrouw’ was nadrukkelijk aanwezig. Je kan er van houden, maar iets meer op de achtergrond zou fijn wezen. Was een ‘typetje’ zeg maar.

Cleanliness. The room was very clean. Not easy to realise in an old mansion. Comfortable bed in a spacious room. The lady that manages the house is upbeat and quite a caracter! She gave advise on where to eat and where not...

A bit difficult to get into the premises from the roundabout , but then enough parking spaces. Bathroom needed an update. Ceiling paint coming off for example.

Lovely spacious room and bathroom with very comfortable bed. Pauline was a wonderful friendly host and gave us a very warm welcome. We arrived later than planned but that was no problem as we could self check in. Lovaly fresh fruit selection included in the breakfast options.

L accueil de Pauline et a la hauteur de sa maison chaleureuse, confortable et très cosy. La vue depuis notre chambre sur le lac et le joli jardin et le petit déjeuner servi avec bonne humeur est top.

La ville est un peu tristounette le samedi, mais peut importe, la maison de Pauline vient compenser.

Lovely big room,really clean and great shower for an electric one. The breakfast was one of the best we had on holiday. Lovely building with lots of character. Pauline was most helpful in all aspects and particularly with helping us park our boat in the grounds.

Beautiful rooms and great view! We loved it! Not cheap but definitely the best accommodation we had on our Scotland trip. The breakfast was excellent too.

The location is fantastic. The canal trail is directly across the street and the views out the back windows are divine! Our room was big, bright, and beautiful… as was the bathroom. It has everything we needed. Pauline was a gem! Our breakfast was fabulous and she took great care of us. Her banter made our day!

Wir fühlten uns sofort willkommen. Pauline ist eine unglaubliche Gastgeberin! Sie unterhält den ganzen Frühstücksraum mit ihren Geschichten, die sie in ihrem schottischen Akzent zum Besten gibt, während sie gleichzeitig dafür sorgt, dass alle das bekommen, was sie bestellt haben. Sie ist mit ihrer rauen herzlichen und offenen Art einfach einmalig! Das Zimmer hatte eine atemberaubende Aussicht über den Loch bis hin zur Isle of Arran. Jeden Morgen bot sich uns in wechselndem Licht und mit den Gezeiten ein neues Bild.

The lady looking after it was very friendly and welcoming.

The bed was small, the bathroom needed updating, one window could only stay open by putting a bottle of water under the window and the one in the bathroom didn’t open at all.

Niets van de B&B. Lochgilphead is een klein dorp. Weinig eetgelegenheid (Indiaas restaurant is goed, wel eigen bier of alcoholische drank meenemen).

A perfect stopover on the way to our ferry. A really warm welcome and a fabulous view. My husband enjoyed his cooked breakfast and I had a great fruit and yoghurt box to enjoy after the local parkrun.

The turn in and out on the roundabout was a bit of a challenge, otherwise all good.

Fantastic old style B&B, very comfortable and very clean. We had a huge room and huge bathroom with bath and shower. Pauline runs the place and is super accomodating. She is very friendly and makes a fantastic breakfast which has so many choices. Highly recommend this place. We will definately stay again when next in the area.

4 of us were cycling the Caledonia Way and stayed here for 1 night. Communications from booking to arrival were excellent. We were able to store our cycles under cover overnight and our one e-bike was charged for us. Pauline went out of her way to provide vegan cooked breakfast for us which helped fuel our next day’s journey to our next stop in Oban. Would stay again.

Very well located with a short walk to Lochgilphead shops and restaurants. The room (a family room) was cheerful and spacious w a large bathroom w shower. Wonderful breakfast in a colorful room and cheerfully served. Off street parking. The house itself was full of character and eclectic art. We very much wish that we had stayed at the Corran for more than one night.

The only drawback was the room being located up and down some stairs, but in an older home like this one you cannot expect the same level of accessibility as a modern hotel or guesthouse.

Beautiful views of the harbor from the dining room and our room. Large, bright room. Spotlessly clean. Pauline made us feel right at home and went out of her way to accommodate us. She is the Gem that shines in this little jewel!

מדובר בבית יפייפה ממש בכניסה לכפר. יש חנייה פרטית למקום. הכל היה נקי ומסודר. מים חמים במקלחת וזרם טוב. נוף מהמם למים מהקומה השנייה. בעלת הבית - פולין, אישה מקסימה וחברותית מאוד!! ארוחת הבוקר מצויינת ולא חסר דבר. אם אתם מחפשים מקום להעביר בו לילה על הדרך, זה המקום!!

Good location, lovely views from breakfast room. Handy for town centre restaurants and a pleasant afternoon dinner walk along the Crinan Canal. We have an electric car and we're able to charge overnight at the nearby caravan park.

It got a bit stuffy and we couldn't keep the windows open without propping them with a towel or bottle etc which was quite annoying. A little dated decor wise

Das Frühstück wurde individuell und frisch zubereitet und war äußerst lecker. Pauline war die gute Seele des Hauses. Sie kümmerte sich liebevoll um das Wohlbefinden der Gäste. Das Haus war stilvoll eingerichtet mit viel Geschmack. Solche Orte mit angenehmer Atmosphäre gibt es nicht mehr häufig. Ich bin froh, dass ich hier einen solchen Ort gefunden habe und habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt.
