Grand Monumental Residence Edam

The location was great, the short walk to the town center was beautiful. Orm and Annmarie were excellent hosts. Th apartment was very clean and comfortable.

Alles war sauber und aufgeräumt. Die Betten waren sehr sehr gemütlich. Tolle und saubere Toilette/Bad. Klimaanlage und Küchenventilation. Die Dekorationen waren auch sehr cool.

Einzige Sache man konnte das Zimmer Fenster nicht komplett schließen und als es geregnet hatte, wurde es kalt abends.

Mooi pand, goede ligging, ruim en verzorgd.

Balken zijn wat laag en bed staat te ver onder schuine dak.

Sehr geschmackvolle Einrichtung, bequeme Betten, super Lage, ruhig, viel Platz

The apartment is very beautiful, clean, spacious and comfortable. Great location near the busstop. Amenties provided were excellent. It was also very quiet.

Heel mooi appartement in een fantastisch pand. Van alle gemakken voorzien, fijne bedden en een luxe badkamer en keuken. Vriendelijke en behulpzame verhuurder. Aanrader!

Wir möchten uns nochmal ausdrücklich bei unseren Gastgebern Annemarie & Orm für den wundervollen Aufenthalt im Grand Monumental Residence bedanken. Wir hatten eine wunderbare Zeit im bezaubernden Edam und haben uns in dem reizenden Apartment unglaublich wohl gefühlt. Es hat an nichts gefehlt und wir haben uns wie zuhause gefühlt. This was a really beautiful apartment on the top floor of the owner's home, with a large living room / dining area / kitchen to one side of the entrance, a separate loo, and then bedroom and bathroom (plus second loo) to the other side - the biggest space of our 3-week trip round the Netherlands. Very high standard of fixtures and fittings, and it felt very light and airy. Liked the black-out blinds in the bedroom too. 5 minutes' walk from Edam's weekly cheese market (Friday mornings), and secure space for our bicycles inside the entrance hall so they didn't get rained on overnight. Thanks for the beers in the fridge - very welcome!

The apartment is very spacious and well laid out with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay! The location is great as well! I highly recommend staying here!!

Wonderful location, free parking, bus links, and town centre all just around the corner.

Air conditioning in main area not working which makes it very hot in loft area. No foothold at top of stairs.

Fantastic location, minutes walk from both the bus station and the town square. Beautiful fresh tulips upon and Heinekens upon arrival was lovely! Having the extra half bath was very appreciated!

Edam is a lovely quiet community where Dutch people live and work. There are definitely sites to see in the area (some cheese related of course), and busing is convenient. It really does take only 25 minutes to Amsterdam on route 314. Plenty of buses leaving Amsterdam Central to Edam until at least midnight. (Note that the Edam bus station does not have a ticket seller, but we bought Regional Passed at the petrol station across the road. I assume they have other bus tickets as well.) The space is large and comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. (Fridge [more than large enough for vacation], microwave/convection oven, stove, toaster, espresso maker, kettle, pots, pans, dishes, and most other equipment needed to make a meal.) Living/dining/kitchen are open, with a separate large bedroom (1 King + 2 Twins). The master bath is well equipped, and a second toilet is situated between the bedroom and living area. The King bed is super comfortable. (We didn't try the twins.) Stairs only - 2 flights - but we saw that as good exercise rather than inconvenience. The unit on the side of pricey for 2 people, but a nice splurge to have the luxury of a peaceful area and loads of space. There is a small grocery very close by in Edam, but the supermarket is the next town over. Both are very walkable as long as you are prepared to carry your purchases back. There are a couple of convenient restaurants very close by. We didn't have a car, and it was perfectly convenient. For those with a car there is convenient parking at the bus station around the corner and a major road is by the parking area. The hosts are lovely. We didn't have any issues requiring their assistance during our stay, but they did arrange a ride to the airport for less than the cost of taxi/limo services.

There were plenty of mosquitos. However, with all the water in the country, I assume they'd be hard to avoid at any accommodation. If the hubby had left the windows closed and used the AC I doubt we'd have had any at all inside though.) We don't drink espresso, so a French press for hubby's coffee might have been nice.

Amazing apartment, in a wonderful historic location in central Edam. The apartment was the top floor of a the hosts home, accessed via a private staircase from the back of the house. there was free parking within a few hundred meters of the house,historic central Edam was less than 5 minutes walk, with easy access to the bus station for Volendam and Amsterdam The huge bedroom/ensuite, and open plan kitchen/lounge/diner were all well equipped and comfortable and Netflix on the TV was welcome. Edam is a great place to visit - with canals and boats everywhere!

Everything seemed new and really clean.

The pillow was a bit thick for my liking.

Host was super friendly- left a cold bear in the fridge. Helped carried the luggage. Also- the accomodation is on a beautiful little canal- also very close to the centre of the village. Very good experience.

Best mattresses and bedding. The open kitchen and living area. Loved the netflix. Loved the bottle of wine .

The steep stairs

The apartment was immaculate and had lovely hosts. I can't recommend this place any higher as it exceeded all expectations. The beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept on and the kids said the same. Netflix was available and various other platforms also which meant we could relax on the comfy sofas and enjoy family time. Unfortunately I had a motor cycle accident a day before we left so I spent most of my time in the apartment and I enjoyed every minute of it. The kitchen has everything you could need to cook for the family but also you are only 2 mins away from pubs and restaurants which are child friendly. I really could of spent another week there no problems. I must say again that the owners are amazing people who helped us out of a bad situation which I won't go into but they understood our issue and helped where other people would not have cared so 10 out of 10 for the hosts, apartment, garden, 1 min from bus station and all in all it was an amazing time and I can't thank the hosts anymore. Next time we visit that area I wouldn't hesitate to book again and the photos do not do the place justice enough and I recommend for family trips or a nice couples vacation. We stayed after my motorcycle crash and I was in a bad way and they couldn't have been kinder as I couldn't take bins ect out as I couldn't walk and they understood this and for what they did for us as a family I will be forever grateful. If you are staying in Edam pay the extra and stay here you won't be disappointed.

Super location, you will feel at home the moment you arrive. Everything is as it appears on the website, the kitchen has all you will require, the facilities are spotless and the beds will let you sleep soundly after eventful days in and around Edam. Edam is a beautiful town, laid back and absolutely worthwhile a visit. There are excellent bus links to Amsterdam only two minutes from the appartment. Be sure to check in AND (!) out with your credit card. Debit cards generally aren’t excepted. There is also a parking lot free of charge three minutes away. And last but certainly not least - you will have super friendly and exceptionally helpful hosts, who will make sure that your stay will be a 1-A experience!

Beautiful, newly renovated, spacious apartment in a great location to explore Edam or to take the bus into Amsterdam. The hosts were extremely kind and welcoming and went out of their way to ensure we had a perfect stay. They even provided a baby travel bed for our 5 months old son. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.
