Loved the breakfast in a bag that came with the room!
I like staying this type of motel. Parking right outside of your room is so convenient. The property is very well maintained inside and out. The rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. Beds are very comfortable and having a coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator are all very convenient. The owners are the best people you could ever wish to meet. They take pride in their motel and it shows in every detail. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming and do a wonderful job. The motel was built by the owners father in 1959. It’s the perfect Route 66 motel. I highly recommend it and will certainly stay here again when in the area.
There’s nothing to dislike.
Older but very nicely remodeled. Outside decor was nice!
Still felt a little old.
Nice area for pets
Ms. Bailey was very gracious, the room was, clean, comfortable, and in perfect working order.
No notes.
Cute little mom and pop motel. Clean, comfortable and a bit of fun nostalgia.
This is a very nice, quaint, nostalgic motel on the old Highway 66. Very comfortable.
Special care was taken to make our stay comfortable.
The location was more rural than expected. Restaurant choices were limited.
Post Covid, customer service has become nonexistent, but not at the Sunset Motel. The courtesy, comfort and cleanliness were second to none. The bed was excellent and there was a small care basket including muffins. Such an excellent representation of what I assume Route 66 was like in the 1950's.....with upgraded beds. Lol
I have ZERO complaints. I stay at lots of hotels and tend to be a tad critical. The Sunset and staff exceeded any and all expectations I had and have.
The place is easy to find. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. They had a list of places to eat if you need them. They also prepare a little basket for breakfast if you want it. The rooms are very clean. I liked it so much on my way out to Utah, that I stayed on my way home.
Not a big issue for me, but with everyone these days and their electronic, but there are very few plugs in the room.

Welcoming environment, historic place, comfortable room.
Tiny tv, 28 in? Hard to from across the room.
It was a very comfortable room. The desk hostess was very friendly and persoable. We received a bagged breakfast for the next morning with a delicious pastry and fruit. The coffee provided was a premium choice too.
Only negative, is we had to leave early and could not enjoy sitting out and enjoying our coffee on the old-time metal porch chairs.
Stayed here a few nights before came back through and everyone wanted to stay here again. Cute, quiet place. Very friendly. Recognized us right away
Old school style motel that brings you back to the prime time of Route 66. Love the vibe!
It was all great. Old but clean and neat.
The pillows were great and so was the mattress. I usually have trouble finding a firm enough pillow or a mattress I can sleep in the same position for longer than 2 hours without it causing pain in my hips. These were outstanding. And the bed was made with military corners and a light blanket and sheet that were perfect for all night comfort. The hotel construction meant I never hear a neighbor or the street. And, the mid-century vibe was perfect for Route 66! And the number large parking space in front of my room meant I didn't disturb my neighbors when I got up early and left. The breakfast bag the host gave me at check-in was great with wonderful pastries.
There wasn't anything I didn't like but I would have preferred a channel directory for the DirecTV.
Staff was very thoughtful with a brown bag breakfast.
Clean & quite. Host was friendly & accommodating.
We bought breakfast in Edgewood which was gou
Of the three nights we stayed the staff did not clean our room. When asked why it was not clean the manager stated that the cleaner knocked and did not get a response. In reality we were participating in an event in Stanley.
Accueil sympathique. L'ambiance est décalée à souhait. Encore une fois sur la route 66, nous nous croyons dans un film. Très bien situé pour visiter ensuite Santa Fé.
Mattress was ready to be replaced in room 1
I loved the feeling of going back in time when we stayed there. It had such character because it's rare to see this type of hotel these days with a 50's and 60's vibe! And it was immaculate, meaning very clean with comfortable beds. I was glad it had a tiny refrigerator and a coffee maker with coffee for the morning. I loved the special gift to go with our coffee as well!
I can't think of anything
A Route 66 Motel original, immaculately maintained and sustained but updated in all the functional ways. Silent running heat pump (instead of noisy, uncomfortable wall unit AC/Heat), new quality carpet that would actually show stains if there were any, well serviced everything - extinguishers, plumbing, furnishings.....modern mattresses. And ultimately, the original and proudful owner family, unchanged since opening back in the 50s.
Nothing. Not a thing.

Eclectic place, nostalgic of the historic Route 66 era. Very clean, well maintained, charming and comfy.
I am big on what I call "smell-impression". So, if you're like me, the slightly musty smell of the room might be off-putting. I did become nose-blind in no time, but it is a "thing" to me. Otherwise, the room was extremely clean, comfy, and the rubber ducky on the tub edge brought a smile to my face.
The room was clean, bed was very comfortable, air conditioning worked well, and there were chairs to sit outside if we wanted. The night manager gave us each a bag with an orange, a muffin and a bearclaw pastry for breakfast when we checked in; the pastries were excellent, from a local source, not the usual cheap stuff you get at the chain hotels. We could leave the key in the room when checking out. It's only half a mile from the Lewis Antique Toy and Auto Museum, and Dale Lewis, the son of the founder, recommended it. It's been owned by the same family since it was built in 1959. We love staying in these historic Route 66 motels, and this one didn't disappoint us.
I can't think of anything - we liked everything about it.
Location was great. Bailey was the perfect hostess!! She helped us with so many things we needed. She is definitely in the right industry of hospitality!!
Lovely, friendly place. Although breakfast is not provided. Upon checking in, they gave us a pastry and fruit. A really thoughtful gesture. Thank you, it was enjoyed the next morning.
Pillows were a little lumpy.
Classic Route 66 motel. Very clean. Friendly staff.
Blast from the past! Great retro touches throughout.
Liked the retro look. Was very nice. Room was very clean. Staff was very friendly.
Wasn’t anything I didn’t like
Very clean, close to I-40 but didn’t hear any freeway noise. Very clean, well kept. Would stay again!
Great vibe, nice staff, clean and comfy
Staff are all kind and welcoming, rooms are clean and spacious and have everything you need for a short stay, even a little duck in the shower ☺️ loved the prepacked breakfast
Bed was too soft to our liking, but this is subjective
Route 66 typical little motel! Owner is wonderful. A wealth of information! Comfortable break from the road!
This is a vintage motel right on old Highway 66. It is not a luxury motel. The owner has retained a vintage charm and added delightful details and spaces, e.g. a community patio with comfortable seating surrounded by a raised garden with hummingbirds. You will feel the love if you stay here.
Adorable mid-century furnished motel room that was perfectly kept, incredibly clean, and included a bagged breakfast. So much cleaner than the chain hotels we had been staying at while traveling.
Cute Route 66 hotel. Old but kept up. Clean.
Not much since I wasn't expecting a Marriott hotel.
Very clean, super comfortable beds, pillows are so amazing I want to buy one! Have us a nah of ice and a breakfast in a bag on check in. Old motel but very well maintained and smells good. Very nice!
I didn’t see anything I didn’t like
The front desk was awesome.
Vintage feel Clean despite age

Great location near the airport. Clean and cozy. Staff was very friendly. Much better than the alternative motels that I have stayed at in the past during trips to Moriarty.
Provided places to eat and to go breakfast.
Electric outlets were limited.
It's an older location but we'll maintained.
Very friendly and accommodating
There was a scorpion in the bed. We didn't even stay longer than an hour.
Cooler Vintage - Style! Habe mich gerade in die 80 Jahre zurück versetzt gefühlt.
Very clean
Very quiet, comfortable, lovely hostess.
Nothing - short stay went better than expected.
Small town so everything is close to motel. Front desk staff is always nice. I have stayed here at least 6 times in the last 10 years and will return.
Sunset is on the east side of Albuquerque so it’s great to get beyond the morning traffic if you’re coming from AZ. The rooms were spacious, extremely well kept & clean, and very comfortable.
No complaints at all!
Great room option for a larger family. Hospitable. Good service. Safe place. Very clean!
My sleep was not as good as my family. For my damaged back the bed was not the best option for me but everyone else slept great!
Easy to find and the staff was super friendly and kind. Love little nice touch throughout the room such as Hershey Kisses by the bed and little rubber ducky by the tub. Also really like the separate sink from the main bathroom and the beds were very comfortable. The muffin and bear claw and little cuties were so yummy for breakfast and great coffee for the kurig machine in the room. Highly recommend this place!
The only problem we came across was how to operate the kurig machine but we finally figured it out after several attempts.
Exceeded my expectations. Very clean, quiet, comfortable. Would definitely recommend this original motel on Hwy 66 in Moriarty. Easy off I40.
Great value motel
It was exactly what I was expecting! Staff was amazing and super friendly! Bed was comfortable, Room had a great nostalgic atmosphere. A must stay for anyone who wants to experience 66 in its prime.
Everything was great!
Clean, safe and good service.
Sunset Motel Moriarty have a very reasonable animal deposit - even allow large dogs. They have a goathead free grassy area for the dogs. At check in, the dogs are given a blanket to lay on the bed! Humans get a little breakfast bag of tangerines and a couple of muffins. They have a nespresso machine in each room. I loved the cute vintage furniture. Beds were comfortable. We appreciated the large parking lot as we were towing a trailer. Shower was nice and hot and great pressure. Room was clean. Very well run family owned motel. I would stay again.
I didn't like the pillows - too stuffed for my taste. My husband didn't have any problems.
The beautiful lady in the office was very nice and helpful Great area for your dogs too! Love the "old style" motel atmosphere
There was no actual breakfast, but we were treated to 2 "cuties" and a muffin and bear claw and a muffin!!
The electrical outlet did not hold on to the cord in the bathroom, but we used the other in the sleeping area. Very minimal inconvenience. The only other thing we would have appreciated was more room to use our toiletries.
I always stay here when passing through
I was greeted not only by an efficient and friendly manager but by a cat with a great personality. The room was clean with a great working Keurig coffee maker, fridge and microwave. The beds were comfortable and the heater and a/c easy to work. A great feature was the breakfast bag that they gave me at check-in and that contained nice baked goods from a local business. They also gave me solid advice on places for dinner.
Clean
Bed uncomfortable
Everything! Best Motel we’ve ever stayed in.
This is a charming family owned motel that is simply a wonderful place to stay.
Very friendly staff! Cute, nostalgic hotel. Perfectly good place to stay while traveling.
Room was pretty hot and couldn't get it cooler. Had to crack a window.
The check in lady was so nice she shared good locations for food. We loved the rubber duckie, and breakfast bag.
Love the tiny rubber duckie on the tub. Keurig single coffee maker is nice. Nice retro decor and room was clean. Outside is well kept.
Glad there was a fridge, but would have liked a freezer to refreeze the ice packs for my ice chest. Also, the in-room coffee was terrible (no more Starbucks please).
Loved it clean. Well kept.
We stayed 6 nights. Same breakfast almost every day which was a take away breakfast. Although very yummy.
It was like stepping back in time. When we checked in the owner noticed that booking.com had overcharged us for the night. He adjusted the charges. He also provided us a goodie bag with fresh pastries and nectarines for breakfast. The room was very clean and nicely appointed. Will certainly stay again and recommend to our friends.
Everything was perfect. No complaints.
Love the old feel of the place and location
Lady who greeted me was rude and acted like I was an inconvenience. I met owners on my last visit and they were very pleasant and fun to talk with.
The owner of the motel was very kind and it was clear she put a lot of care into it. I was delighted to talk with her and stay in the room.
The staff was exceptionally nice at check in! The motel does have a small pet fee of $25 - which is actually quite reasonable. The room was clean, cozy, and cute. They did not have a continental breakfast, but they gave us a breakfast bag the night of our check in with a wonderful almond crescent, a muffin, and some oranges. I would absolutely come back!
Very clean, comfortable and nostalgic motel. Rooms were very large and spacious. The owner is a very nice man and a joy to talk to.
The motel was well maintained and close to restaurants. Mike at the front desk was awesome..

This was my second stay.. We expected to arrive several hours past check-in so I called ahead and they made arrangements that allowed us into the room well afterhours. The truckstop restaurant across the street (Lisa's?) had a great breakfast and easy fill-up as we headed out of town
I was not disappointed.
Clean, large room and friendly staff
