Schönes, ruhig gelegenes B&B mit netten Gastgebern. Alles da, was wan so braucht für einen Augenthalt von zwei, drei Tagen. Von der Lage her wirklich gut, um alle Ecken der Insel zu erkunden. Früchstück wird täglich ab 8:30 Uhr serviert, war gut und mehr als genug. Wir haben uns wohl gefühlt und können das Hummingbird B&B guten Gewissens empfehlen.

Für dieses B&B gibt es eine elf von zehn! Ein wunderschönes Haus mitten im Grünen mit super Ausstattung und sehr komfortabel. Morgens gibt es ein tolles Frühstück. Die Gastgeber sind sehr sympathisch und geben viele Tipps, was auf Gabriola zu sehen ist. Ich empfehle, für zwei Nächte dort zu bleiben. Wir fanden es sehr schade, dass wir nur für eine Nacht gebucht hatten.

Beautiful big property and big home, out in the country feel. Welcoming, nicely decorated, large rooms, excellent breakfast. No shoes so bring your slippers.

A one page information sheet in the room for guests on the B&B amenities and kitchen-breakfast routines would be an asset.

the owners were super friendly and accommodating when we needed an early check in to make an event on time. room was very spacious and they even offered us breakfast for the next morning! overall a wonderful experience

Loved our stay, came with my three kiddos, our room (the Fir suite) was huge and comfortable - very clean & bright - cozy soft bedding. We used the bbq for dinner, after a nice walk to the local sandy beach

The bedrooms and common area are spacious and comfortable. Our hosts were respectful of our privacy while providing a welcoming environment. They provide an excellent breakfast, catering to all tastes and dietary preferences. Hummingbird is a beautiful home.

Fantastic in all aspects

This property is beautifully located on the mid-north side of the island, just a five-minute walk to the beach where you can listen to eagles and sea lions catching herring. The room is bright and spacious, with lovely attention to detail. The common area offers plenty of space to rest and relax, and the small kitchen has everything you need to prepare your meals.

We had a wonderful stay with our family. The common areas are really comfortable and much larger than expected. The hosts were welcoming and the breakfasts delicious.

Noise level could definitely be a problem depending on what room you're in, and who else is staying. The host was frequently practicing guitar as early as 9am, and as late as 10pm, and it was quite loud. It made the perceived level of privacy low.

Minimal variety for breakfast and not made to order. Made in advance and in a steam table. My room was particularly dark for reading in bed and no light at the desk.

An excellent stay! Loved our large, quiet room and great common spaces- especially the kitchenette. Hosts were very friendly and kind, and made us great breakfasts. Added bonus was the access to the hot tub on the property. Highly recommend!

The common areas have a/c, but unfortunately it was very hot when there and no a/c in the suites which was uncomfortable.

My daughters and I went to use the hot tub the second evening we stayed there and we did not go in. It appeared that some of the foam from the cover was disintegrating and was floating around in the water. It also didn't appear to be very clean so we didn't chance it. No A/C in the room and no blinds or curtains on the windows made it hard to sleep.

All good, expectations were unsure but it was very good and we enjoyed the island and the B&B.

It was very lovely space, clean, cozy, peaceful! I love their hospitality, the coffee was at kitchen all the time, a variety of warm breakfast options. It was a beautiful log house with lovely interiors.

The skylight was just above the bed, so one of my family members was up from 4am cause it was so bright, I wish the window were closable for good sleep.

Breakfast was very good, a quality meal for sure. The location was lovely. Peaceful and beautiful. The house was expansive and quite charming in the details and decor. The owners were super friendly and attentive to questions, needs and requests.

The location was perfect - very close to whalebone beach and only 10 min from the main "center". Easy access to hiking, the beach and amenities. We loved the extra of the hot tub and outdoor balcony backing onto the forest that would be lovely in summer to read a book on. The room was very spacious and clean with a comfy bed and most of all the property was quiet and the hosts were courteous and very accommodating. Breakfast was great as well!

This is hands down one of the BEST homes I have been in. It is so gorgeous!!! It is even better than it looks in pictures. Paul and Zeniya are just fabulous hosts. Very respectful, kind and thoughtful humans. They served us a healthy and filling breakfast. The in-house cat, Tabby is such a joy! The hosts are thoughtful to keep him away from the guest rooms incase folks are allergic or prefer not to have a cat around. Overall a 100% satisfaction booking this place. If I'm back in Gabriola I will certainly be back here.

Beautiful property, exceptionally clean.

Breakfast ( once we found it ) was fine, airbnb location was where it was supposed to be!

I think this was new ownership, as the service really didn't match the quality of a 9+ rating on booking. ( someone on the island also thought new people were running the place. ) communication was slow and lacking in other ways. another group of guests decided to throw a party directly outside of our room...management took quite a while to do anything about it, had to be notified on multiple platforms to respond. they also had no interest in giving us suggestions on things to do on Gabriola until 30 minutes before check-out on the final day, once we had no time left to explore. a bunch of other stuff around poor / lack of communication that won't fit here: overall just somewhat careless and sloppy management. but the building is clean, location is nice, breakfast was fine, etc.

Comfortable, clean, friendly, private. I think there are only 3 rooms at this B&B so it didn't feel busy. Breakfast was available from 830 to 1000 in a covered serving dish specific to our room so you didn't have to worry that other guests would eat everything before you got there, though if you want it hot, go close to serving time. Self-serve waffle maker was great but only available one morning. Pancakes the next morning. Oatmeal only served one morning. 3 minute walk to a pebble beach. Deer in the yard. Strong shower.. Friendly resident cat.

Lighting in room was too bright with exposed bulbs with light fixtures that are fashion over function. I would suggest light shades over the bulbs or make them dimmable. One light was dimmable but the filament was exposed so it also was hard on the eyes.

Breakfast was a delight. They go out of their way to accommodate your needs.Zenia even made a batch of blueberry muffins just because I enquired about what was available for breakfast. Location even had my husband raving about it though it it not something he usually pays much attention to.

A beautifully designed retreat nestled in the woods and close to hiking trails to the ocean. Cosy rooms with private deck, a delicious self-serve breakfast and access to a comfortable common area. Hosts were friendly and helpful.

A small suggestion: the rooms are comfortable but dark at night. A night light in the bathroom would be welcome!

Spacious, airy, super comfortable!! Truly was a home away from home for our three day stay. Loved our experience in this beautiful home. Warm, friendly and very attentive, our hosts went well beyond being just being attentive. Thank you Paul, Zeina and Agnes.

The property is right near the forest and only a 3 minute walk to the ocean front. The B&B is beautiful and the bedrooms are very large with large picture windows. We enjoyed the cooked breakfasts and the owners went out of their way to provide gluten free options.

Everything was wonderful including the deer that roam the property.

-we were greeted upon arrival -comfortable beds -very private setting -clean room -large deck with seating

-I had to rinse out someone else’s hairs from the bathtub before using it for the first time -some light bulbs were burned out in the room -there were a lot of stairs which were difficult for a family member with bad knees

I really enjoyed sitting in the hottub surrounded by quiet serene surroundings. The room was spacious with a large private balcony and comfortable furniture and even a nice candle it was very cozy. The hosts were very accommodating and friendly. I felt very much at home and enjoyed my stay. I went for a nice island break and was not disappointed.

It was in a nice quiet location but a short drive to anywhere on the island. The room was very comfortable.

Hummingbird B&B has great potential to be an excellent stay but it fails on some critical points. 1. We barely saw the hosts on our 3 night stay. There was no warm welcome (just a perfunctory “this is the room code”), no information given about the area or local amenities, no conversations or any interest in the guests. It was definitely a hands-off approach which probably works in a Best Western but not in a B&B. They weren’t around even at breakfast which was a buffet. 2. The breakfast was ok. But nothing special. It was made in advance of our scheduled breakfast time and left on a hot plate. The eggs were always hard and rubbery, butter rock hard. The coffee was prepared in advance too but ran out on two out of the three mornings but no one refilled it. One morning Paul (one of the hosts) told me I could make more myself, as he walked through the room to his office,but when I checked the coffee jar was empty. Zenia was nowhere to be found. On our last morning there were a lot of guests so not enough room to sit at the table. I waited twenty minutes until there was room to sit so of course there was no coffee left. No host anywhere to be found. 3. Paul was always in his office right next to the breakfast area and had online meetings where his voice could be heard very loudly the whole morning. The office needs soundproofing. It’s not pleasant for guests. 4. Our room hadn’t been cleaned properly. We discovered a half used bar of soap in our shower and the bathroom bin hadn’t been emptied. We didn’t discover these things until the second day and unfortunately there was no host to talk to about it. We gave up trying. We usually love staying in B&Bs and enjoy meeting our hosts and learning about the area but this didn’t happen here. This place had more of an impersonal feel. But it could improve as the house is lovely. Hosts - just use AI and ask how to be a good host. It’s all there online.
