Good staff
Hallway leaks, shower, bedding,
Location and historic charm
Old, needs update, my room needs new bathtub
This is a historic hotel. Sure it’s old with creaky floors and a sort of permanent musty smell. But it is clean, and the staff are nice. Moreover, the lobby has sitting areas for people that want to talk, read books, play cards, or play a game of chess. You know, stuff we used to do before the Internet. And yes, they do have WiFi if you so choose to use it.
Parking is on the street which means that sometimes you have to drive around to find a spot. But that can be true for a lot of businesses in the area.
The location was perfect for what we were doing.
The entrance to the room was right off the street and there was a lot of str noise. The breakfast was ridiculous, could hardly call it breakfast.
Atmosphere, location
Foam pillows
Very attentive staff. 2nd week, the room was a nice upgrade. Well maintained.
Parking, but being downtown there is only street parking.
The location
Having to use stairs, TV did not work, breakfast was minimal, noise from the street and blackout curtains didn’t work.
An historic hotel in the historic district of Silver City. Close to shops, restaurants, museum. Bed and pillows are very comfortable. A nice large bathtub/shower combo. Continental breakfast. Staff very helpful. Great value for cost.
Nothing
The idea of staying at a historic hotel appealed to me. It attempts to be shabby chic Victorian, but it's pretty shabby.
Giant plastic tub catching rainwater in the main hallway upstairs was hard to get around and filled with nasty, dirty water. Shower looked filthy. Curtain fell off the rod when I tried to close it and I couldn't put it back up. Noisy from the bar across the street. Fan squeaked and shower dripped all night. The whole place looks grungy.
The room was very nice (regular suite). The vibe was just what I was looking for -- kinda old wild West glamour.
The air conditioner was not working (I called the desk & the man working came up and fixed it -- it was a breaker issue). The breakfast seemed to be at a different time than I expected -- but I was able to get coffee so it wasn't that big of a deal.
Tout ! Un retour dans le temps extraordinaire ! Cet hôtel historic est magnifique. A ne pas manquer ! Situé dans une rue au couleurs extraordinaires. Typique,l'ouest américain !
Rien !!! L'envie de revenir!
The staff was extremely helpful.
Was a bit of an issue with leaky ceilings
I Love the place always have, stayed there several times.
Staff was scarce. More than other visits. I always enjoyed visiting with them. Wish they had coffee going down stairs instead of going up and down stairs.
The staff were attentive when there was someone there.
The breakfast was not very good. I found a prophylactic wrapper in my bedroom.
Breakfast was good. Staff was very accommodating
First night’s room was not good but they moved us to a very nice room.
Like the off street access.
Wish it had a bath tub!
The hotel was a very nice old hotel and our room was comfortable.
We were told that they locked the front door at 8pm. We came back at 7:30pm and the front door was already locked. I don't know how good breakfast was because it is not served before 8:15am. There was coffee you could make but no hot water. Very disappointing.
The location works in SC. Just off Bullard.
The room we were originally booked in was not ready when we arrived. The "suite" we were moved to was ok, however the window AC unit was noisy, and the bathroom was small and cramped. What is billed as a continental breakfast was (K-cup) coffee and bread or plain bagels with nothing other than butter.
Quaint Clean Great Lication
I like the historical aspect but it was dirty and unkept. Everything could have been way cooler if it was clean and nice. I did get a very cool book for free.
I tried to do Yoga in my room and I could not put a mat down anywhere there wasn't a stain on the floor. The bed was awful and we couldn't sleep in the big dents in the matress. There also must have been a club downstairs or around the back because till about 12:00 am we could hear music. The hotel doesn't seem like it's going to stay up, like it's a hazard to stay there. At breakfast I found mold on the muffins both upstairs and downstairs. Noting in downtown was really open and there just wasn't much to do after we went to Fort Bayard. I found the manager downstairs twice on her phone when there was so much to clean and do, she excused it by saying they were on a skeleton crew, which I don't know if that has anything to do with her sitting downstairs all day on her phone. When I checked out an entire day early she didn't even ask me why I was leaving early. She knew I had told her about not having enough towels in the room and the mold on the muffins. It could be so much better with the right staff who care about the history of the hotel.
Our stay at The Historic Palace was very pleasant. We came into town road weary and the two room suite was perfect for us to rest from our journey. We really liked that there was no TV in the sitting room. That added to the vintage vibe and to our relaxation. The suite was cozy and we enjoyed our stay at this old, vintage hotel. The brewery/distillery at the corner was a great spot to have dinner and a drink after we checked in. We would stay again.
Great location and a very charming historic vibe. The decor around the hotel was very nice
Building could've been better maintained. The roof was leaking outside our room, and the wifi was down at night. The breakfast was serviceable, but didn't have any hot items
Perfect location close to my family and favorite eating place
Room was not too clean.
Wonderful historic old West Hotel . Comfortable, clean, affordable, tons of atmosphere and friendly folks on staff. Nice breakfast is provided each morning.
The quirky old building was interesting.
The carpet and furniture were old. It didn’t feel clean.
The location is great-right in the heart of historic silver city!
The place is old and kind of old and outdated though still had a charm.
Very cozy
Wasn't sure where to park
Location
Could be a lot clearer, bed really uncomfortable, cheap mattress and pillows, sheets flimsy and low quality, breakfast unremarkable.
The Palace Hotel is a unique historical structure. We had a king suite that had a king bed and 2 sitting areas. The lobby was interesting.
We didn't like that we could hear loud music from the street below. The bathroom and shower could have been nicer. The air conditioner and curtains were old.
Close to the golf course.
Located downtown on a very noisy street corner across the street from an open door tavern with loud music. Late night cruising of loud diesel trucks, and low riders blasting sirens. King bed was like sleeping on a marshmallow it was so soft.
The rooms were clean and very comfortable. Breakfast had a variety of easily enjoyed food. The bed was fresh with an abundance of soft pillows.
Nothing
Old hotel with lots of character. Located in the old historic section of Silver City within walking distance to food, coffee, art, culture, and shopping.
Could use some maintenance.
Lobby and suite were well decorated and comfortable.
Nothing, wish I could have stayed longer.
Nothing
Room had no bathroom in it. Had to walk down the hall and No break fast as advertised
Historical value
Poor water pressure Love seat in poor condition
Down town, easy to walk to shop.
No elevator, stairs hard to get up and down, especially with luggage. I
Location. History. Price. Accommodate d our need for ground floor room. Historic hotel was lovely. Breakfast was adequate. Same as most hotels today.
Bed not comfortable. Pillows too big
I love the historic area and the historic old building.
The staff wasn't particularly friendly or helpful. No daily maid service and the outside noise sounds like it is inside, but I'm sure that is due to the nature of the old building.
Historical old hotel
Felt like they need to hire more staff
The property is in a great location and we loved the historic building.
It wasn't very clean.
The staff kindly accommodated my schedule by making breakfast available earlier than their standard service time, which I greatly appreciated. I appreciated the property’s historic character and rich sense of history.
During my multi-night stay, I would have appreciated a refresh of the towels, and the floors appeared to need a thorough vacuuming.
Great location and great staff!
I wish they would vacuum under the beds, furniture etc. It wasn’t an end all be all for me. But my daughter lost a piece of her toy and was shocked to see the unvaccumed parts of the room. Small detail and wouldn’t keep me from staying again.
The hotel has a quirky inspiring spirit about it that just makes you smile. The location is ideal to enjoy Silver City's notable art and shopping scene. The town seems to have a balance of affordability and ambition that supports a fun, creative environment. The Palace embodies that. While by no means a luxury hotel, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the service is warm and friendly. Breakfast is simple but adequate.
There is probably an opportunity for updating the rooms without losing the historic charm.
Historic, good location, great breakfast.
No elevator..long staircase to rooms.. No hair dryer
Great, very helpful friendly staff. Charming old hotel. Excellent location.
Communal breakfast area could be cleaner. Room could’ve used a deep cleaning. (But bed and bathroom were very clean.)
Close to a nice and popular restaurant. Was excited about it being an historic hotel.
Historic is one thing…. No updates are another. This property has not been updated in many many if not ever decades. The carpet looked original. Stained, worn. Gross. One bed was newer. The sheets however were probably from many years ago. A 14 inch deep bed should have more than 4 inch deep pocket sheets. No screen on the bedroom window, could not open it. I could not bring myself to take a shower, I didn’t dare step into the tub. Not a pleasant bathroom experience at all!!!! So sad, because I had been so looking forward to a bubble bath. My husband worried All night about his motorcycle parked out front.
Historical setting
Parking
Charming, comfortable accommodation s. I especially like having a bedroom plus a sitting area.
Parking was hit or miss on the street.
Friendly staff, fantastic location, very cool historic building, and highly affordable for a solo traveler. The breakfast is not exciting, but the coffee was pretty good!
It was not clear from the listing that the bathroom would NOT be connected to the room. I had to exit my room and go to a separate tiny room down the hall for the toilet, and yet another separate room down the hall for the shower. The sink was in my room. So, three separate locations. These bathroom facilities were exclusively for my use and marked as such (I did not have to share), but it felt a bit awkward going back and forth down the hall, not to mention pretty inconvenient in the middle of the night. This setup was specific to the "budget double room" only -- so, just be prepared. This is why the price is so low. Also, the carpets throughout the hotel could use a good vacuuming!
the shower water pressure was too low and wasn't very hot
A pleasant stay in a historic hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was ok, but it could have used thicker pillows. The bathroom was nice and clean.
Parking could be better. We were able to park in front of the hotel, but the curb is extremely tall, so care is needed to not hit it when opening the vehicle door. A ramp is available, but it may be a bit of a walk depending on the parking space you use.
Still hurt from mattres. Dirty.
Welcoming staff, location, look of entrance. Shower and towels were quite nice.
Breakfast room was on 2nd floor, crowded, and dingy with unremarkable food offerings. Didn’t even bother second day. Our room was on the first floor street level and could have been made into something really special, but huge curtains had to be strung over the windows so that nobody could look in. Couldn’t look out tho either so room was dark, and bright track lighting to make up for it was icky. Light at entryway was out when we checked in so we had to fumble with key and lock in the dark to access room. (to their credit, mgmt. fixed next day). Overall, this is a classy old hotel with good bones but much maintenance has been deferred and it shows.
This is a quirky old hotel, so perhaps not for everyone, but I’m a fan of the offbeat…loved the history and decor, including the creaky floorboards and separate tap sinks. The location is fantastic and staff very friendly and helpful.
As w any vintage hotel a few things could’ve been in slightly better repair…nothing major. The one thing that was inconvenient was using the community Kuerig coffee maker set up in the breakfast area…there was no way to fill the water chamber without taking it off the machine, going to your room w it, filling it from the sink tap and then bringing it back. A pitcher of water on the breakfast table would’ve been perfect.
Did not feel like a standard hotel, more of a quaint little apt, in downtown silver city. very cozy, and walkable to most restaurants.
That i could only stay for one night, due to my schedule.
The location worked well for us with restaurants close by.
Themed was very uncomfortable. The traffic throughout the night was noisy. The staff was non existent after check in and in the morning. There was no breakfast. Parking on the street was not ideal
I absolutely love the historic furniture and building. It is like stepping back in time.
Staff is only available at certain times of the day at the front desk.
location was perfect
mattress could have been better
Quaint, historic, great vibe, all more important to me than many an amenity. Nice stay.
That it was in the historic district.
There were no hangers and only 1 spoon and 1 knife..
Old and run down doesn’t mean “historic”. I spilled water on the floor, and when I cleaned it up the towel I used was dirty.
Beautiful historic building and lots of character
Detergent used for sheets was very strongly scented. Room facing the street was loud at night
location
Can't see controls on air conditioner above door, Bathroom door doesn't shut, Shower had so much pressure you could not leave it on sprayed all over bathroom, bath sink had to reach under sink to drain sink, mirror in bath was so low could not see myself to shave without bending over. Would not recommend staying there!
Very quant, clean
Room was very small, club was noisy.
Front desk staff
Lack of decent AC. Second bed not ready when we checked in. New mattress had to be brought in.
Fue muy bueno, reserve el mismo dia del hospedaje y pague 101$ el desayuno que ofrecen es cereal, cafe, frutas había mantequilla de mani pero no tenían pan, comimos frutas y tomamos cafe
I liked the suite, room #62. Had a blast, it was my fiancé’s birthday week and weekend, it rocked… thank you to the sweet women that was there caretaking the rooms and fixing the flower pot out side. Like we said before we love this place we love the old school vibe, definitely solid 10.
Funky, historic, comfortable, cool
Very historic hotel in the center of the artsy historic center of Silver City. Charming place with some of the eccentricities of age.
