We could not fault our stay at Maro Garden. Maria was an incredible host, the room was impeccably clean, breakfasts were absolutely outstanding and we felt extremely welcome, safe, and comfortable. This was one of the best stays we have ever had.

Beautiful stay in every aspect. Green yet modern, super clean, minimalist, and peaceful, with a beautiful pool view. The breakfast was delicious every day, with something different each morning and freshly cut fruits. Truly such a lovely place to stay! Maria Now let’s talk about Maria, the owner and host, whom I booked after reading so many lovely reviews about her on both Booking.com and Google. I know everyone said it feels like home, but for me, it felt like my grandma’s home full of passion, pure love, warmth, selflessness, and playfulness. Thank you so much for making my first solo trip unforgettable. I’m going to miss you like I’ve known you forever, and I truly can’t wait to come back. 🤍

Everything, we loved the setting, the design, Maria the host was a stand out as well as her lovely pets. Positioned very close to the lake with beautiful views. Maria helped us get a local tuktuk driver so took us to the beach and back in no time. The breakfast Maria made each morning was delicious using the freshest ingredients. Everything was modern, clean and aesthetically appealing pleasing with stunning jungles views and a beautiful swimming pool

Maro really exceeded our expectations. Everything was well considered - the design, the linens, the concept and especially Maria's breakfasts! I'd highly recommend staying here and will be back!

Sublime design, quiet and unobtrusive host

This has to be one of my most memorable stays from Booking.com. Maria (the owner) created this fabulous place, nestled in a quiet area of Ahangama, with such good taste. Everything is well thought of, and every detail contributes to creating this unique atmosphere in Maro Garden where you immediately feel at home. Just as in the pictures, it is really beautiful, and energetic, and the 4 rooms only of the property allow for a quiet environment. Also, Maria herself cooks a different breakfast menu everyday, that is so tasteful and original. She is always ready to have a good chat about anything, and she is such a joyful person. I would 200% stay here again, and can only recommend to anyone staying in Ahangama to stay at Maria’s Maro Garden! Thanks again Maria for making it so special!

We loved this place very much! Everything was just perfect and unforgettable --- the artistic and beautiful gardening, the stylish and clean room, the lovely pool and dining area, and, the wonderful Mariya :) Things are only beyond your expectation here, Mariya cooks amazing breakfast, with thoughtful design and a warm heart. The arrangements in the room are also very considerate, even with toothbrushes, shower sponge and slippers, which are not offered in general in SriLanka. We loved the plants of the garden, the lighting of the room, and specially, the wise & sweet conversation we had with Mariya. Highly recommended to everyone who is searching for uniqueness. Mariya and her aesthetic philosophy will not disappoint you in any aspect. And "feeling like home" is just a basic compliment to this place---- we felt impressed, refreshed, filled with good energy and enlightened by lovely humankind.

Ça été un réel plaisir de se réveiller face à tant de verdure. - La terrasse à côté de la piscine était hyper fraîche et agréable. C’est un réel atout de pouvoir s’y rafraîchir. - On se comme à la maison, car Maria l’hôte était très accueillante et chaleureuse. Maria ist eine sehr charismatische, präsente Gastgeberin und kümmert sich persönlich um ihre Gäste. Ich hatte während des Aufenthalts Geburtstag und sie hat den Tisch extra mit Blumen geschmückt und sogar einen Kuchen gebacken – vielen Dank nochmal! Der Pool ist toll, umgeben von hohen Bäumen, in denen die Affen umherspringen. Die Zimmer sind sehr stilvoll und gemütlich mit wunderschönem Blick ins Grüne. Das Frühstück war ebenfalls sehr lecker :)

Der Aufenthalt war ein Traum! So tolle Bungalows und so ein nettes Surrounding. Wir haben uns pudelwohl gefühlt und würden immer wiederkommen! 10/10! Danke für die tolle Zeit!

Je ne sais même pas par où commencer tant ce séjours à Maro Garden était incroyable ! L’emplacement est idéal, à 10min maximum en tuk tuk du centre de Ahangama, au calme loin de l’agitation de la ville. Les chambres sont spacieuses, très propres, très bien décorées avec un soucis du détail. Tout le mobilier est beau, tout est parfaitement choisi pour une ambiance harmonieuse et chaleureuse. La piscine et très agréable tout comme le « coin » petit déjeuner. Les petits déjeuners d’ailleurs sont tellement bons ! Tout est préparé le matin à la minute et c’est divinement bon ! Mais ce qui fait le charme et le « plus » de cet hôtel c’est vraiment sa propriétaire Maria ! Une hôte d’une gentillesse et d’une bienveillance extrême, qui fait tout pour que vous vous sentiez comme à la maison. Et c’est le cas ! Merci pour ce séjour Maria et à bientôt en Provence :)

The location - hidden away in a quiet neighbourhood in the jungle but just minutes from the beach, the stunning minimalistic design and the way it blends in with the surrounding nature, the exceptional breakfasts, my beautiful room, and the warmest hospitality from the owner!

Mycket hög standard för att vara på Sri Lanka. Fantastisk frukost som tilltalar en foodie. En lugn oas i hektiska Ahangama. Rent, fint och estetiskt tilltalande. Inbjudande och välkomnande ägare.

Saknar någon form av möjlighet att beställa åtminstone en god kaffe eller dricka om man hänger vid poolen/hotellet hela dagen. Då läget är väldigt avskilt och avkopplande samt då hotellet inbjuder till att njuta av omgivningarna är det nästan ett måste att kunna beställa en cappuchino/latte eller en kall dryck. Finns espressomaskin på rummet dock.

A TROPICAL PARADISE! Truly one of the most incredible places we have ever stayed in! The room was simply stunning, with great views of the jungle and garden. The pool and rest area was so peaceful and welcoming. Fantastic authentic breakfasts with brilliant conversations with the host Maria, who was just an absolute delight in making our stay such a special experience. We will be back for sure! ❤️

Unser Aufenthalt bei Mariya war einfach einmalig. Bereits beim Check-in wurden wir unglaublich herzlich empfangen, und diese außergewöhnliche Gastfreundschaft hat sich während des gesamten Aufenthalts durchgehend gezeigt. Ehrlich gesagt haben wir so etwas in dieser Form noch nie erlebt – die Herzlichkeit und Aufmerksamkeit waren wirklich beeindruckend. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das Frühstück: Jeden Morgen war es ausgewogen, mit viel Liebe zum Detail angerichtet und bot eine tolle Abwechslung – ganz klar 10/10. Auch die Unterkunft selbst lässt keine Wünsche offen. Sie ist sehr modern, hervorragend ausgestattet und verfügt über einen großen Pool. Die Zimmer sind stilvoll, modern eingerichtet und laden zum Wohlfühlen ein. Wir würden diese Unterkunft jederzeit wieder besuchen und werden diesen Aufenthalt ganz sicher nie vergessen.

MARO garden is a stunning boutique hotel — minimalist, beautifully designed, and perfectly tucked away in the heart of the jungle near Kabalana Beach and close to the center of Ahangama. Everything is fresh, clean, and thoughtfully curated. But what truly makes this place extraordinary is Maria. She is the most lovely, warm-hearted host and owner you could ever imagine, and she genuinely elevates the entire experience. We have honestly never met anyone like her — Maria feels almost too good to be true. She creates an atmosphere that instantly feels like home, yet remains effortlessly luxurious. Adding to that feeling are the hotel’s adorable dog and cat, who completely stole our hearts and made the stay even more special and personal. The rooms are gorgeous, the jungle-surrounded common areas are absolutely breathtaking, and the pool and dining spaces are refined, elegant, and deeply relaxing. And then there’s the food — Maria’s cooking skills are simply outstanding. She makes the absolute best food we’ve ever had, with breakfasts that are nothing short of a culinary highlight: exceptional flavors, the freshest local Sri Lankan ingredients, and beautiful European presentation and standards. This was, without a doubt, the best hospitality experience we’ve ever had. We will definitely be back and recommend the place to all our loved ones! This place deserves a full 10 out of 10. For me, it did not feel like a hotel at all – it truly felt like home. Design, space, comfort, and plants come together beautifully. Everything is very tastefully curated and spotlessly clean. The bathroom is spacious and well thought out. Breakfast was excellent, varied every day, and very generous. The pool area is extremely inviting and perfect for relaxing at any time of day. But the real heart of this place is Maria. She is an exceptional host – warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. Her presence alone makes this place special. I had an amazing stay and would return without hesitation. Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved the tranquility and incredible design of this hotel. It’s set in the most stunning surroundings. A little further from the beach but that’s also its beauty and super easy to get a Tuk Tuk. The owner was so welcoming, and kind to our children. She cooked the most delicious breakfast. It was so quiet, with the sound of wildlife surrounding.

Unfortunately the air con wasn’t working properly in our room which made for a very hot and uncomfortable night.

We had an amazing stay, the place is beautifully designed and so clean. The stuff was very helpful and nice. We were with a kid and he felt also very welcomed. Breakfasts were always on top level and the portions were a lot. Hotel is surrounded by beautiful jungle, but in just 10 minutes you can be on the beach or city with great cafes and shops. Maria, the owner, is so warm person that makes we feel like at home from the very beginning ☺️

Every single detail in this place is designed for comfort, and even the air smells amazing. But what truly makes this place special is Maria, the owner. Meeting her felt like one of those destined encounters. The way she cares for this place and her guests is simply extraordinary. Every corner here breathes beauty, joy, and fulfillment.
