Terrible customer service
Poor communication
We had evening meal in the hotel the carbonara was amazing the best i had ever tasted . Staff were very friendly and loved to have a chat . Bedroom was massive and wish we stayed longer .
Not staying longer.
I had requested a twin room through booking.com but received a message to say that was not possible, however when we arrived I mentioned it at reception and a lovely girl knocked on the door and twinned the room for us.
Not a negative but was clearly undergoing some renovation work
Our room was very large. A great bed. The breakfast options are wonderful. We ate in the hotel restaurant each night, and it was very good. The steak pie was a treat.
I didn't know the hotel does not have a lift, otherwise I would have asked for a ground-floor room. There is plenty of room for a small fridge and a small table between the chairs.
Cleanliness
Having to pay £59 for a small dog and being told if we booked o line it wouldn't have cost this 😕 supposed to be dog friendly
Lovely place, clearly havung a refurbished but that did not affect my stay. All staff were lovely and helpful and helped me store my bike in their cloakroom
Food was okay, but had i the energy I'd have eaten elsewhere. Breakfast was good
Great location, lovely building, and a great little concert venue attached.
Beds like concrete slab, pillows like pancakes hardly slept at all
Staff were always helpful
The booking.com payment method was awful to the extent that I thought it was a scam . Spelling and grammatical errors. So I telephoned the hotel and paid them direct.
Easy stop off point on NC500 route back home
No hot water throughout our stay despite informing reception numerous times. Room (especially the bathroom) very tired/dirty. Mattress uncomfortable requires replacing.
It is in an excellent location. Quick to reply to messages.
Clearly, the rooms and various areas are being renovated. That said, we paid a lot of money for our rooms and the beds, bedding and pillows were sub-standard. We were freezing as no duvet was supplied, Scotland in August can be cold! The pillows were dreadful, they were paper thin and only one pillow per person. If we had paid for a suite, I would have imagined at least two pillows each and a duvet! So, I think it’s on its way, but by no means ready.
Proximity to the locations we wanted to visit, great parking available.
I discussed the issues with the lovely Receptionist. There are areas needing improvement.
Lovely spacious room, recently refurbished. Very comfortable bed and great shower. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Had a lovely evening meal in the bar
Rug under the bed was quite slippy which I made the reception aware of when checking out
Huge rooms, lovely sitting room for evenings
Seagulls were horrendous, especially in evenings kept family awake the duration of our stay
The room was very spacious & comfortable. The value for money was excellent - partly because of reduced prices while the exterior of the hotel is being renovated. The bar was very pleasant as well.
The room was nice and looked like the advertised room
Receptionist, as soon as we arrived and she noticed the dog ( border collie) she stepped back, even though there was a counter between us. Online pets or advertised as £10/£20 per night but we were charged£50! What the dog got was a water bowl and food bowl (empty) . When questioned of the charge, the reception tried to pass blame to booking.com , made to wait as room wasnt ready end result would not go again.
Nothing informed us at 18.30 the night before that the room was cancelled quoted ongoing maintenance turned out they had overbooked hopeless
Customer service terrible
Blízkost ke golfovému hřišti.
Hlasití racci v okolí hotelu po ránu.
Rooms upgraded since i last stayed and decent matresses so i had a good nights sleep.
No complaints.
Refurbished rooms excellent
Still areas subject to building works
Location. Food in the restaurant was fine. Reception staff were great.
Seemed faded. Housekeeping wasn't great. Seagulls kept us awake.
Bedrooms refurbished. Looks like further upgrading being done
Good clean spacious room
Only problem shower was tepid cpuld npt get heat
Clean and well maintained
Location a bit far
The refurbished rooms and breakfast.
The nesting seagulls and small the selection of choices on Jocks Bar menu.
Location was good for us, car parking, large room, clean, breakfast.
Nothing
Friendly reception staff . Convenient location.
No towel rail or hooks near shower or wash hand basin, and nowhere to hang clothes in shower room. No hand towel. Noisy door closures.
Food was good. Limited menu in evening as we were told the kitchen was being refurbished. Breakfast was good but buffet style which meant it was just lukewarm.
Bedroom clean and adequate.
Couldn't open window with out asking for help and then it had to be held open
**DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL.** I have stayed here many times on business, including before Marriott took it over. Back then, it was a good hotel and the charge for bringing a dog was around £10-£15, which is entirely reasonable. Marriott has now turned that into a **£50 dog charge**, roughly 50% of the room rate. That is not "pet friendly". It is simply a rip-off. I booked through Booking.com, where the hotel is described as "pet friendly". Nowhere in the booking process was this extraordinary surcharge made clear. Only when I arrived, late in the evening, tired after travelling and with very few realistic alternatives, was I told I had to pay another £50. The staff had clearly had this argument many times before. Rather than showing any understanding, they smugly informed me that the charge appears on the hotel's own website. That is an absurd defence. I booked through Booking.com, not through the hotel's website. Why would any customer complete a booking on one website and then search another website for additional charges? The hotel was perfectly happy to accept my Booking.com reservation and take my money. Once I had arrived, however, they refused to refund the room unless I paid the extra £50. They knew exactly what position I was in. Their solution was effectively to pay up, lose the cost of the room, or leave late at night with my dog and nowhere obvious to stay. The only other practical alternative would have been to leave my dog locked in the car in the middle of summer, which was completely unacceptable. What made the experience even worse was the attitude of the staff. They were dismissive, smug and entirely uninterested in helping. They behaved as though this was perfectly normal, which suggests this happens regularly. If so, the hotel knows there is a serious disconnect between what customers are told on Booking.com and what they are charged on arrival, yet it continues to profit from it.
The hotel's response is as disappointing as my experience. Firstly, the suggestion that I was "aggressive and abusive" is completely untrue. I was neither. I challenged what I believed to be a misleading booking process and an outrageous £50 pet surcharge. I did so firmly, but at no point was I abusive towards any member of staff. Secondly, the statement that the charge is "set out on all websites and booking channels" completely misses the point. The issue is not whether a pet charge exists. The issue is that Booking.com described the hotel as "pet friendly" without making it sufficiently clear that bringing a dog would add £50, increasing the cost of my room by around 50%. No reasonable customer who books through Booking.com should be expected to visit the hotel's own website afterwards to discover significant additional charges. If the hotel knows that Booking.com does not present this information clearly, it should insist that it does or decline to market itself in that way. I have stayed at this hotel many times over the years, before Marriott took it over. The previous pet charge was around £10-£15, which was entirely reasonable. Increasing that to £50 is, in my view, excessive and exploitative. What disappointed me most was not simply the charge itself, but the attitude. There was no attempt to understand the problem, no goodwill shown to a returning customer, and no willingness to find a sensible solution. The response I received here reflects exactly the same attitude I experienced at reception. Since leaving, I have stayed at another local hotel whose owners told me they regularly see guests arriving after similar disputes over the Green Hotel's pet policy. Having now experienced it myself, I can understand why. I stand entirely by my original review.
We stayed here for a night before flying from Edinburgh. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful…they had even left a birthday card and little gift as it was my son’s birthday which he was delighted about.
I booked a weekend stay in April, i booked 4 months in advance as i wanted to make sure i had accommodation while attending the British touring car championship at Knockhill. On Friday morning, 7th of August i received an email from the hotel saying that they were looking forward to welcoming me at the hotel and telling me about booking in times etc, then six hours later i received another email from the hotel saying that "we can no longer accommodate you from 8th-9th August due to "quote", seagulls on the roof, not even 24 hours before we were to travel to Knockhill Racing circuit. I tried to get a last-minute booking in the local area, but everywhere was sold out because of the BTCC event. So please beware they could cancel your booking right up to the day of your stay.
Good location and some gardens round the hotel. Good breakfast. Reception staff friendly and helpful.
Room wasn’t valeted every day. Towels far too small - size of tea towels. Flex for kettle very short and had to make tea kneeling on the floor. Had to go to reception to get milk and tea bags. Couldn’t open windows
.
Aylar öncesinden rezervasyon yaptırdım.Otele giriş günü sabah otel bana nesaj atıp check in koşullarını gönderdi. Akşam 21-22 gibi geleceğimi yazdım.Sizi bekliyoruz bir sorun yok yazdılar. Gece 23 gibi otele geldiğimde otel bana rezervasyonunuz yok, Tüm odalarımız dolu dedi,Edinburgh tan 1 saat uzaklıkta gece yarısı ailemle otel aramak zorunda kaldım ve oteller son dakika için geceliğine 300 paundan fazla istediler. Tam bir rezaletti ,hiç tanımadığımız bilmediğiniz bir ülkede , gecenin bir yarısı ailemle sokakta kalakaldık tam bir rezaletti güvenilir değiller. Staff, location, pub over the road, lounge area. Cleanliness and standard of bathroom Inc shower. Comfort of bed.
Room decor mismatched - functional and in good condition but a bit old fashioned.
Lack of a full length mirror in the room Also power point in room was behind tv so having to boil kettle in floor after having to move furniture - not ideal - food at Jocks Bar was not brilliant !
Room had just been renovated and was super comfy, could use more 'creature comforts' like plugs near the bed and non-big light lighting options. But overall the location is fabulous, the staff super friendly, and the hotel charming and well laid out
Staff was lovely. We were greeted by a lady in training and just want to reassure her again that she did a great job! Good luck! Room was surprisingly huge, plenty of space. Smart TV was also a great feature. Hotel in general is absolutely gorgeous. Huge building!
Unfortunately we were in a room next to where the baby seagulls were nesting, and as much as I love them they were on top form! Please don't put people in this room whilst the gulls are raising babies, I'd hate for future guests to potentially be mean to them.
We enjoyed our stay, the room was definitely better than expectations , although they have just joined raddison individuals, so alot of building work going on, but we only noticed because we went the wrong way to our room.
We checked the menu online before we booked because of my wife being coeliac, however when we sat down to eat it was different, and we were told its probably not been updated online, however it did not have much coeliac friendly options and as much as we couldn't find fault with any other part of our stay, its for this reason we would not have booked in the first place. I do assume that because they are new members of the Raddisons individuals group of hotels , the building work and the menu issues are because of the change over and the influx of upgrades required.
The bed was comfortable, very good service and staff very kind and helpful.
The water pressure in bathroom was weak, the floors were squeaky, no lift.
The room accommodation was excellent, booking in was a bit lengthy,I believe the member of staff was new to the job. The room itself was large, clean and attractive. Later on, ordering a drink at the bar was also lengthy,at first there was no person to be seen, after a few minutes a young girl appeared, after giving my order, she said that she didn't think she could serve alcohol as she was too young. After a few minutes another member of staff appeared and served me after a fashion, pouring a Guinness appeared to be a challenge. We also booked dinner that evening, and again it took far longer than expected...my wife had a burger and I had steak pie...there were no potato chips available on sweet potato chips or mash. The steak pie was disappointing,a metal ashette with more gravy than meat and two pieces of,obviously frozen puff pastry, afterwards for dessert I ordered ice cream which took forever to arrive. Next morning, the member of staff was delightful, however the hot itemThe foods for breakfast were well overheated and dry, with the fried eggs being solid, the fresh scrambled eggs my wife ordered were lovely. We had a two night stay and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the things I have pointed out were amusing to us and didn't spoil our enjoyment The male waiter at dinner was a star as was the woman on breakfast duty, some other staff members of staff I believe were new to the job,but we all have to learn. We would not hesitate in booking again...especially as the hotel is undergoing a major refurb. I'm even looking into organising a 2 night golf break for 4
The food overall could have been better, but the accommodation itself was lovely
The staff were exceptional. Breakfast was OK
The hotel is under construction. Amenities were limited. Wifi was out. Waiting for room to be checked by a manager after the housekeeping and the reception clerk had already checked it.
Breakfasts excellent. Room was large clean and comfortable though the two chairs were not something to sit and relax on. Armchairs needed or bucket chairs. Good shower. Could do with an extra pillow or two.
Dinner for our party of 8 was dreadful. We had to ask for a menu (the girl found one but on prompting found 7 more). The menu was very limited and the food, when served, was dreadful. The gammon steaks were more akin to shoe leather than gammon; the lentil soup was too salty; the chicken burger, well give them the benefit of the doubt, it might have been chicken but was closer related again to shoe leather. We were never asked if we needed more drinks and never came to ask if we wanted deserts or coffee. We cancelled our following nights reservation and went to eat at the Raj Mahal in town (quite excellent) instead. They did have a small wedding with 50 guests which was their excuse for everything but in a hotel this size in the tourist season (and 100% occupancy) that was no excuse at all. Our bottles of water were not replenished in our room and reception was not always manned. A taxi that we requested to be booked for Sunday morning for the station was never booked and we only discovered that at 10pm when we checked to make sure that it had in fact been booked.
It was clean
We booked and said we where traveling with a dog then got hit with a £50 fee for dog I top of our fee paid to booking.com
Newly refurbished room with new usb ports and TV and value for money
The blinds were not blackout so bright in morning no bin in the toilet and some of the bathroom fittings were not finished properly
Location
Evening meal (gammon steak). Did not know whether to eat it or re sole my shoes!
Stayed here a year ago and the hotel was tired and in much need of an upgrade. The new owners have delivered this and there has been quite a change for the better.
Room well appointed and comfortable. Excellent breakfast
Hotel under refurbishment during my stay Low water pressure in shower TV in room didn’t work
Zelo velika soba. Prijazno osebje. Odličen zajtrk. Parkirišče pred hotelom.
Breakfast was very good and service was excellent. The room had lots of space. Bar staff were very good and helpful.
There wasn't an opening windows (they were painted shut and it was really hot. Also there was no hot water throughout our stay. I was told that the boilers were broken. I phoned to arrange dining at the hotel and was told that meals were fully booked for the first night and due to staff shortages closed on the second. This was not the case, and I had booked other venues for our group of 8 to eat at.
Hotel in the recovery process, but very good renovations are done in part of it.
No air conditioner
Breakfast was a good range of continental and cooked food. Service at breakfast and from the bar staff was excellent.
The room was very spacious. Of concern was the lack of opening windows (they were painted shut and had no cords in any event - given the heat this meant ventilation was poor. Added to this we had no hot water throughout our stay. We were informed that the boilers were affected and repair was not completed during our stay.
Nothing!
On arrival we were surprised at the poor state of the window frames where we parked the car. Reception was better. Our room was large and comfortable but the shower room was minuscule. The windows were impossible to open as the sashes were broken and the windows had subsequently been painted shut. We didn’t notice the stain on the duvet cover until much later when we turned on the light! There was a tatty piece of photocopied paper on the coffee table with information about bar/bistro opening times and breakfast time. It was fit for the bin! It said that food was available in the bar until 21.00 so, as this was the only place available in the hotel for food, we went down at 20.20. We were greeted by a bar maid who said the “after this large group we’re not serving any more food”. We went down the road to the next establishment who also stopped serving by the time we got there at 20.30. We had never been to Kinross before so we had no idea where to find a meal. Eventually we found a really good Chinese. We thought that with its connection to Radisson that we could find good service, how wrong can you be????
Made very welcome by staff , room very clean and spacious. Bed very comfortable
I booked two rooms for two nights. My sister didn’t have hot water for any of her four showers even though the staff said they were aware of a problem it wasn’t fixed. They just didn’t seem to care really. Her window wouldn’t open either because it’s been painted shut. You have to walk miles to get to your room and struggling luggage through the many fire doors is impossible. Some rooms get bottled water some don’t. House keeping visited after the first night. They adjusted the bedding a bit but not much and took away the fan!! Why would we need a fan on one night and not the next. Completely ridiculous! No cleaning. One bin emptied but not the other.
See above
Great location
Tv did not work
Location , nicely decorated inside.
Very tired looking on outside, didn’t respond to email re dinner booking
It was a hot day and the heating was on full making the room very hot and uncomfortable.
Recently refurbished, excellent breakfast, particularly the sliced haggis.
Although recently refurbished the rooms needed small refinements, bathroom had no towel rail or hooks so the floor was the only option. Also the spacious bedroom could be improved by the addition of a coffee table by the chairs.
Evening meal
Being charged 50 pounds for n reason, being returned , taken in error
Hotel being updated, my room was new which was great, staff also friendly
Evening meal was extremely poor and barely edible but breakfast was totally different and very good.
Didnt have breakfast this time
Nothing to dislike
The staff were very helpful and friendly The food was very good.
We were not made are of the on going refurbishing works Some of the areas were very dated and do not reflect the pictures showing when booking. The room we booked said a coffee machine and slippers would be included and neither were present We also had to change rooms as the original one was definitely not what we booked. The garden could do with a good tidy up.
Location to golf courses and town.
There was renovations going on but didn’t bother us
The location was good and the room was very spacious overlooking a tidy garden area that was well kept. The food in the bar was great. Staff were helpful when I had problems with my room tv.
The internet wasn’t strong enough to enable the tv to show anything. It worked on my phone ok.
Locatie is goed.
Breakfast was the redeeming feature of the stay
Very Poor finish on renovations works Replacement Doors as if from a job lot that didnt fit and surely cannot satisfy FD 30 Fire regulations never mind the lack of privacy with big gaps Lack of lift very disappointing bearing the Radisson name. Saw disabled guest struggling assigned an upstairs bedroom Very poor
Pleasantly surprised by this hotel which we booked as a stop over travelling through Scotland. Room was recently renovated. Lovely decor. Large room with lots of light. Comfortable bed. The areas that have been renovated have been very well done, lounge, reception, our room. Quality of food in restaurant for dinner and breakfast was very good. Great value for money.
Renovation work ongoing on 1st floor strong smell of paint lots of workman around in the afternoon. Wasn't a problem but none of the staff mentioned it.
I was due to stay at the hotel 3 weeks ago today. The day before I got an email saying that, due to a burst water main in Kinross my booking was transferred to a Travel Lodge at Kinross Service Station!!! I immediately cancelled and demanded a refund. Despite a promise of a refund within five working days, I am still waiting for my refund 21 days on. Disgraceful
Breakfast was decent.
Absolutely no hot water in the morning before we departed so cold showers all round. Spoke to several other guests who had the same issue.
Very little.
This hotel is being renovated and much of it is still very shoddy and unloved. Our friends booked directly and were originally quoted £300+ but on arrival were charged only £140. That was what the hotel was worth in its current state. I would welcome a refund from Booking.com.
Location suited our needs
Very expensive. We paid two and a half times the price through Booking.com that was paid by friends who had not pre-booked and were ‘walk-ins’
The staff were very nice Plenty parking
The hotel was a bit run down and although refurbished our room had 2 single beds that moved everytime you sat or lay on them. The rug on the floor was very slippy and quite hazardous. There was one chair in the room and two would have been better. The food at dinner was not good with very little choice
Don’t book this hotel. We booked months ago through booking.com for our daughter’s wedding day. Both families booked 10 rooms only to find the hotel did not have any rooms for us. It was very stressful and incompetent of the hotel.
Nothing they cancelled on the morning of our reservation.
That they cancelled on the morning of our reservation. Didn’t communicate with me and instead did it through booking.com. I phoned to ask for an explanation and was told someone would phone me back and they did not.
Breakfast good
Bathroom covered in black mould.
I miss haggis and yours was lovely (breakfast and evening meal)
I didn't stay for breakfast as it was a busy day for me. Great location next to bus stops which served my home in Edinburgh. The room had been recently renovated and was beautifully done.
There was a small issue regarding towels, the laundry hadn't delivered in time but there were fresh towels on my return to the room later that evening. The staff apologised but is certainly wasn't their fault.
The hotel is in process of being refurbished. Very impressed with the new decor. Very smart & clean. Would stay again.
The room was amazing. My only small issue waa stepping in or out the bath was a nightmare. A small handrail is required. We are fit & able but anyone else would struggle..Pillows arent the best.
Really nice place, good room, well decorated. Good breakfast
Nowhere to keep my bike. I did ask but the receptionist said they didn’t have anywhere. So i ended up locking it out the front of the hotel.
Great choices for freah breakfaat
There needs to be a table level socket for hairdrier.. The TV was facing the wardrobe rather than the bed
Just being renovated so there were work people painting and decorating, plus doing a complete refurbishment on all of the rooms.
The room was a bit cold, although they did provide an extra heater.
Good but a wee over priced. The staff were excellent but the hotel looks tired and needs some TLC
Windows could not be opened. Lack of grab rails in bathroom
Extremely easy comfortable feeling to the hotel. Large bright rooms with big bay windows and traditional furnishings make for a very pleasant stay with plenty of room for my two big dogs who really enjoy the grass area around the hotel and it's proximity to Loch Leven about half a mile from the property. Excellent breakfast served by Susan - a lovely cheerful lady. This must have been our seventh or eighth stay and it is always a great break. Much needed renovation is going on: I just hope the comfortable atmosphere of old is retained.
The room was modern and clean with an excellent bathroom and shower. The staff were friendly and helpful. They allowed us to store our bicycles in the room and the normal area was being used for workmen undertaking improvements to the hotel. The breakfast was excellent as well. The rather good Loch Leven brewery is just across the road too...
Nothing, no complaints at all!
They moved me to alternative accommodation so I didn’t get to stay but on seeing the property I think that was a good thing!
The day before I was due to stay in the hotel I recieved a message saying I ‘ may have seen on our recent reviews we have been affected by a cut pipe in the village which has affected a large portion of the property’ and I was being moved to another hotel and provided the location- not the name, just the location, I had to ask them to tell me the name! (I had never been to the area so had no idea what hotels where were) It turned out I had been moved to a travel lodge. That was fine, then I found out in a travel lodge you need to pay for wifi- which had been included as an amenity in my original booking. I did a bit of digging when I was in the village and nobody seemed to know about any cut pipe affecting water supplies and, strangely, Scottish Water didn’t have it as an issue. This, along with the fact the hotel thought I would know from reviews leaves me suspicious about the water pipe story.
