We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and, without a doubt, will be returning again. The breakfast was fabulous – it has been a very long time since I enjoyed such a delicious omelette for breakfast! We would highly recommend Haus Eleven to fellow travellers without hesitation. We also kindly invite prospective guests to read our previous reviews regarding our many stays at this establishment. We have nothing but praise for Haus Eleven and give it our highest recommendation. It is always a pleasure to stay here, and we look forward to our next visit!

Reviewed Sep 11, 2026Très jolie grande maison d’hôtes au charme un peu colonial, installée derrière un portail dans un quartier résidentiel où les maisons sont sécurisées. magnifique jardin et une superbe piscine. 🌿 Endroit très reposant. La chambre ainsi que la douche étaient d’une propreté irréprochable. Tout semble neuf et parfaitement entretenu. L’eau de la douche était très chaude, ce qui fait vraiment du bien après une journée de route ! Nous avons également été très bien accueillis. Tout était parfait pour une nuit d’étape, nous avons passé un excellent séjour. L’hôtel ne propose pas de dîner, mais on nous a conseillé le Hennie’s, un bar-pub-restaurant situé à seulement 5 minutes en voiture. Nous y avons passé un super moment ! Petit déjeuner délicieux, généreux et complet! Nous recommandons vraiment cet hôtel pour une étape : très propre, agréable, calme et avec un accueil au top.

Having our vehicle parked close to the room, under cover and securely behind an electronic gate, provided valuable peace of mind throughout our visit. The room was perfectly suited to our business trip and thoughtfully furnished to ensure both comfort and convenience. The bathroom was spacious, and highly practical. Relaxing after a busy day was easy, with the smart TV providing excellent entertainment options. The reliable Wi-Fi kept us connected, while the in-room microwave and fridge added to the overall convenience of our stay. The desk also provided a comfortable and functional workspace for administrative tasks. The delicious breakfast was the perfect start to the day. The gardens are a delightful feature of the property, offering a peaceful retreat whenever a break is needed. Beautifully maintained, they create a calm, welcoming, and relaxing atmosphere that enhances the overall guest experience. The location is ideal—close enough to the town centre for convenience, yet situated in a safe and tranquil environment. Staying at this establishment is always a pleasure, and we look forward to our next visit.

Er was ‘s avonds een groep aan het eten en drinken met muziek op het terras achter hun ruimte. Op zich geen probleem, alleen zou je goed zijn als er ook tijden zijn dat het rustig is. Na 21.00 uur of zo.

Not familiar with the surroundings/area, but the security of the place seems to be too relaxed.

Haus Eleven offers everything we need when staying over for a night or two: Exceptionally friendly staff, beautiful and spacious rooms, a lovely garden, peace and quiet, cleanliness, efficiency, and so much more. Once again, our stay was a delight. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bed is of excellent quality, with luxurious bedding, and the smart television makes streaming possible. Undercover parking is available, security is good, and the breakfast is excellent. The owner’s heart is clearly in this business, and it shows in the passion and attention to detail: During our first stay, the shower did not drain very well, and we made a brief note about it. On this visit — in the very same room — the shower outlet worked perfectly, which was greatly appreciated. We have already made our next booking and highly recommend this establishment to other travellers.

Reviewed Apr 27, 2026Het is een mooi verblijf. Netjes, mooie tuin en lekker ontbijt. Wel is de locatie gehorig. Wij zaten in kamer 6 en de geluiden van kamer 5 kwamen luid en duidelijk door. Isolatiemateriaal vergeten misschien? De bedden zijn Queen size en dat houdt niet over. Koelkastje met vers water, goede airco, fijne douche.
Kleine verbeterpuntjes; isolatie tussen 5 en 6. Deuren sluiten moeilijk.

Reviewed Apr 6, 2026Sehr gepflegte und ruhige Unterkunft in Piet Retief in einer reinen Wohngegend mit schön angelegtem Garten. Das Zimmer war ansprechend eingerichtet, die Betten waren sehr bequem, das Bad war funktionell ausgestattet, alles war sehr sauber. Die technische Ausstattung und WLAN waren gut, der Parkplatz am Haus war gesichert und videoüberwacht. Das Frühstück wurde im Hauptgebäude serviert und war hinsichtlich Qualität und Quantität sehr gut. Das gesamte Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir haben uns im Haus Eleven wohl gefühlt und würden jederzeit wieder hier übernachten, sollte es uns wieder in diese Gegend verschlagen.

Reviewed Apr 4, 2026The town is a perfect stop (I.e in the middle) for traveling from Kruger to St. Lucia (or the other way around).
I don’t know what was wrong with the host, because the host gets very good reviews (in the reviews we saw prior to booking). But in our case she wasn’t interested and it seemed as if she wanted to be somewhere else (do note that it was a one night stay within prolonged Easter weekend). She seemed to expect us to know how things worked (e.g. what you can order for breakfast which was included in our booking). In our case the WiFi was down in our room and after some persistence from us, we switched rooms, which we highly appreciated but was a solution proposed by someone we needed to send a WhatsApp to (the owner?) and not the host. The switching of the rooms solved our WiFi issues.

Notre chambre (triple confort) n’avait pas de fenêtre, une porte vitrée avec un rideau occultant donnait sur la salle de petit déjeuner ! (Voir photo) Ce n’est pas indiqué dans le descriptif, incorrect. Cette chambre n’a aucun sens, bien que pas chère, elle discrédite l’établissement qui propose, pour qq rands de plus, d’autres chambres avec vue sur le beau jardin. Un salon cosy à la place aurait été une bonne idée…. L’accueil dans cette « maison-business » est triste, aucun échange (sans être hostile), la même personne nous a préparé un petit déjeuner standard le lendemain, sans plus. Pour une nuit ce n’est pas grave, Piet Retief n’a d’intérêt que géographiquement entre 2 étapes, on ne s’y attarde pas.

Reviewed Mar 24, 2026Friendly staff – our host was exceptionally welcoming, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was spacious, well furnished, very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning kept the room cool, and the smart TV made streaming possible – a much-appreciated bonus. The fridge and microwave in the room were also very useful – many thanks for that. The bathroom was beautifully and practically designed. The guesthouse is situated in a quiet location, yet still conveniently close to the town centre, with shops, restaurants, and fast-food outlets nearby. Safe, undercover parking behind a gate is always a bonus, and security appeared to be very good. We especially loved the garden – beautifully maintained, creating a calm and tranquil atmosphere, exactly what one needs after a long drive or a busy day. The breakfast was excellent – I thoroughly enjoyed the English breakfast. We will most certainly return again.
The shower did not drain well and appeared to be blocked – a simple pipe clean-up should resolve the issue.

Zwembadwater was niet heel helder, maar ok om in te zwemmen. Er was water en koffie/thee voorzien op de kamers. Maar als tip, het zou leuk zijn om met een drankje aan het zwembad te kunnen zitten. Evt nog iets anders voorzien in de frigo op de kamer, te gebruiken tegen extra betaling.
