Reviewed Sep 19, 2026We came to Villa Fregn as a base for visiting Fulufjället National Park with our two kids (3 and 6), and ended up staying an extra night because none of us wanted to leave.
The owners are incredibly warm and do everything they can to make you feel welcome. You can tell they truly want you to have the best possible stay, and they gave us great tips on what to see in the area. Our wooden cabin was perfect for a family.
A highlight was the wood-fired hot tub (badestamp) down by the river. Afterwards we sat by the fire in the lean-to (gapahuk) to dry off, surrounded by nature. Pure bliss!
There are also plenty of other activities on offer, from moose and bear safaris to SUP, packrafting, canyoning and guided hikes, so there's something for every age.
Breakfast and dinner were amazing. I didn't expect to be wowed by the food, but I was. Dinner is served at 19:00 with a menu of the day, and Bart even brought toys for our son and drawing books for our daughter to keep them happy between courses.
Fantastic service and wonderful people. We'll 100% be back next year!

The owners are incredibly service minded and helpful with anything you need, including great recommendations on what do to in the area, customized to the amount of time you are staying. Their attention to detail is amazing and you can see it throughout the property. Very comfy beds, well equipped bathroom.

Reviewed Aug 14, 2026Superbe expérience ! Beau chalet typique perdu dans une belle nature, à 35min de l’entrée principale du parc national Fulufjället par une jolie route. Accueil unique et mémorable (surprise…). Bart, le gérant, est ultra-sympa, de bon conseil, réactif, disponible, toujours partout, et fait absolument tout pour satisfaire tous les besoins de ses visiteurs, avec succès. Les petits déjeuners et restaurant sur place, par sa femme Ellen, sont excellents. Sauna et hot tube face à la belle rivière, plein d’activités possibles été comme hiver. Impossible de ne pas être satisfait…

Hier hat einfach alles gepasst: Zuvorkommendes und sehr freundliches Personal, tolle Lage inmitten wunderschöner Natur, sehr saubere Zimmer und hochwertige Ausstattung (auch im Badezimmer mit hochwertigen Produkten), exzellentes Essen beim Frühstück und zugebuchten Abendessen sowie eine wunderschöne Sauna am Fluss und ein Hot-Tub. Es hat uns an nichts gefehlt und vor allem die wertschätzende und herzliche Atmosphäre, die die Betreiber-Familie vermittelt, ist einzigartig. Wir durften noch spontan an einer Halbtagesexkursion teilnehmen, was ebenfalls ein tolles Erlebnis war.
Es gibt wirklich nichts auszusetzen, nicht mal eine Kleinigkeit!

Reviewed Jul 10, 2026Hartelijke ontvangst. Mooie, praktische en luxe kamer waarin over alles is nagedacht. Heerlijk eten met een goed glas wijn of een verrassend biertje. Deze mensen weten hoe ze hun gasten moeten verwennen!
Op onze rondreis door Noorwegen waren we slechts 2 dagen hier; veel te kort om ons echt onder te dompelen in de rust, schoonheid en mogelijkheden van het gebied en de Villa. Daarom met Bart en Ellen afgesproken om een keer in de winter terug te komen. Daar kijken we nu al naar uit.

Accommodation unique and extremly clean offering everything you need or maybe need. Exquisine local Norwegian with recommended wine. Bonus wellness centre and veiws.

Reviewed Jul 8, 2026Mycket välkomnande och generös personal som var väldigt angelägen om att vi skulle trivas. Enligt tradition bjöds det på kaffe och våffla vid ankomst. Det erbjöds tips och turer med fyrhjuling, badtunna, måltider i restaurang osv. Vi hade redan planer så vi nyttjade inget av detta.
Stugan vi hyrde var välinredd, rymlig och utrustad med i stort sett allt man kan önska. Goda möjligheter till självhushållning. Diverse torrvaror, kryddor, salt, kaffefilter osv i skafferiet.
Vädret kunde ha varit bättre.

Reviewed Apr 15, 2026Bart, the host and the rest of staff in the villa are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Easy communication. A lot of outdoor activities in the area. Sauna right next to the terrace, spacious and cozy chalet with all the needed facilities. Perfect place for friends/family stay. There's a Fullufjell alpin ski resort 20 minutes drive from villa. It's enough for a family with small kids. If you need more attractions and a bigger range of slopes, Trysil ski resort is 55 minutes drive from villa. We will definitely come back in summer season to test the mtb tracks.
We stayed at one of the chalets (hytta) and the road leading to it was in a really bad condition. Difficult to drive up and down in the winter season, slippery, sharp rocks/stones, deep ruts on both sides.

The business prioritises sustainability and prepares your specific breakfast choices to limit waste. Everything is fresh. Regarding the room, it had plenty of natural light and typical Scandinavian design, exactly what you'd want during your stay in such a picturesque hotel in the heart of nature in Norway. The staff is welcoming and attentive to all needs, getting out of their way to help. Always happy to give recommendations for activities and answer any kind of questions.

Reviewed Apr 6, 2026Die Vermieter sind sehr gastfreundlich und lesen einem die Wünsche von den Augen ab. Das Haus liegt wunderbar am Fluss und in einer sehr schönen Gegend. Es war ein Traum für uns dort verweilen zu dürfen. Das Konzept für das Frühstück ist sehr gelungen!!!! Und das 3 Gänge Menü am Abend verdient unserer Ansicht nach einen Stern! Ein Kleinod, man merkt sofort, dass hier ein Traum gelebt wird!

Sie liegt in ruhiger Lage mit Blick auf den Fluss und ist perfekt um ein paar ruhige Tage zu verbringen.
Die Gastgeber Bart und Ellen sind keine normalen Gastgeber, sie umsorgen einen mit allem was das Herz begehrt und lassen einem wie zu Hause fühlen. So etwas wird man schwer wo anders finden.
Die Zimmer sind sehr schön und sauber.
Das Frühstück und Abendessen ist ebenfalls unfassbar gut und lassen keine Wünsche offen.
Falls wir nochmals in Norwegen sind, würden wir sofort wiederkommen!

Dichtbij zoals de sauna en de hottub, iets verder weg in de prachtige omgeving. Zowel zomers als ‘‘s winters.
Daarnaast niets dan lof voor het personeel.
Wij waren er maar één nacht maar we komen terug👍🏼😁

Der Gastgeber führt einen durch die Zimmer und erklärt von der Heizung bis zur Lichtersteuerung alles. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber, total ruhig und schön gestaltet. Was uns besonders positiv überrascht hat, dass wir am Vormittag angerufen wurden ob wir im Restaurant essen wollen. Hier gab ein 3 Gänge Menü der Extraklasse mit lokalen Produkten. Man merkt einfach in jeder Sekunde wie viel Herzblut drinsteckt. Bitte macht weiter so!

We stayed with our lovely cat in a cabin with our own jacuzzi and the perfect view to a lake. Breakfast and dinner were beyond delicious (you’re even welcomed with a delicious Norwegian waffle). We liked being here so much that we had to extend our stay for one more night. Thank you so much for your kind hospitality, you made our stay remarkable and one to never forget. We are already making plans to come back!

Begrensning av mat svinn:
Frokosten ble servert etter et skjema som ble utfylt kvelden før.
De bruker ekte egg i eggerøra og ekte smør. Kaffe og te serveres i termos ved bordet.

Vi blev varmt välkomnade med nygräddade våfflor och kaffe – en fantastisk start på vistelsen! Innan middagen passade vi på att bada bastu och njuta av badtunnan, och tog även flera dopp i älven. Det var riktigt friskt, men också otroligt uppiggande.
Rummet var mycket smakfullt inrett och vi hade utsikt mot berget – helt magiskt att vakna upp till den vy varje morgon. Allt kändes genomtänkt och omhändertaget.
Vi är supernöjda med hela upplevelsen och kommer gärna tillbaka. Rekommenderas varmt!
Det fanns inget som var dåligt med vår vistelse.

Wat een liefde en energie hebben Bart en Ellen (én hun kinderen) in Villa Fregn gestoken. Die warmte geven ze vervolgens door aan hun gasten. Op alle vlakken. Een fijne babbel, een zeer doordachte kamer, het lekkerste eten (met heel veel aandacht voor lokale producten) én de beste tips om de natuur in de omgeving te verkennen.
Het was fijn om dit te hebben mogen meemaken. Héél veel oprechte dank hiervoor!!

The surrounding area is absolutely stunning, with beautiful lakes, deep forests, and peaceful rivers that invite you to explore, hike and relax. Nature lovers will be in heaven here.
The cabin we stayed in was pure paradise. Exactly what we dreamed of for a perfect cabin getaway. It’s entirely crafted from wood, beautifully decorated with so much attention to detail, and equipped with all the amenities one could need. Every corner felt cozy and inviting. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
I am already dreaming of coming back! And recommended to all my friends.

Villa Fregn is unique and so much more than a first class hotel offering five star outdoor adventures. It also embraces fabulous and interesting food all carefully prepared and beautifully presented in a warm and comfortable dining room with an open fire. Our room was perfect, with the most comfortable beds and a separate living space with views over the frozen river and the mountains beyond. Our hosts tailor-made an outdoor agenda to suit us perfectly, all of which has left us with beautiful memories of a stunning place and people.

Reviewed Feb 18, 2025Vi hadde et fantastisk opphold på Villa Fregn! Personalet var utrolig hyggelige og imøtekommende, noe som virkelig satte en ekstra spiss på opplevelsen. Stedet var nydelig, med vakre omgivelser og en avslappende atmosfære. Alt var rent og velholdt, og vi følte oss svært godt ivaretatt.
Badstuen var en herlig måte å slappe av på etter en dag ute, og snøscooterturen var en spennende og morsom aktivitet. Dette er definitivt et sted vi anbefaler videre, og vi kommer gjerne tilbake!

We stayed in the stunning hunting lodge, which was spotless, beautifully designed, and thoughtfully equipped.
The activities they arranged for us truly set this stay apart. The morning snowmobile ride through pristine snowy trails was magical—the perfect start to an adventurous day. The snow ATV tour was equally unforgettable! Racing through breathtaking landscapes and snowy paths was incredibly fun. The guide was knowledgeable, and professional, and made sure we felt safe every step of the way.
To top it all off, the lunch break was a delightful treat—roasting locally made deer sausages over a crackling campfire added a cozy and authentic touch to the adventure. Villa Fregn is the perfect combination of adventure and genuine hospitality. We can't wait to return and create even more amazing memories! Highly recommend it to anyone seeking a nice weekend getaway.
It would be great to have a dishwasher at the lodge —it would add so much convenience and make the stay even more perfect!

Fra tips om fjellturer via klargjøring av badstue til tilgang til elbillading sørget de for at jeg følte meg hjertelig velkommen. Kvalitet og fokus på detaljer må sies å kunne være deres styrke, og her kan jeg bare anbefale stedet for noen rolige dager langt unna masseturismen. Anbefales!

De natuur is er prachtig, de gastvrijheid en het persoonlijk contact groot! De gastheer hielp alle hotel en huttengasten met fijne adviezen en zet mensen op weg met fijne tips/trips. Het was geweldig! Genieten met grote G en Villa Fregn in ons hart. Een aanrader, in the middle of nowhere, midden in de fantastische natuur.
De weersomstandigheden waren niet goed, maar daar kan niemand aan doen. De natuur beslist. Niks op deze zaak aan te merken! Dankjewel

Their knowledge of the area is unparalleled, and they provided me with excellent directions and tips for hiking in the nearby trails, ensuring I made the most of my time in the area. Their warmth and hospitality added a personal touch that made me feel right at home.
And then there was the food. Ellen is a culinary wizard, and the dinner she prepared was simply divine. Every dish was crafted with care, bursting with flavor, and made from the freshest local ingredients. It was the perfect end to a perfect day.

Bart et Ellen ont été aux petits soins pour notre confort et passer un très agréable moment de 3 jours avec des conseils et documentation précieux et précis pour les randonnées aux alentours .
Les petits-déjeuners et dîners savoureux ont participé à rendre ce séjour inoubliable et qui marquera notre périple scandinave.

As an improvement sugestion: the entrance and the terrace doors should be upgraded with a mechanical closing assist, as they are very noisy at closing. Nothing major, but a nice to have feature especially for the room near the terrace door.

Reviewed Jun 17, 2024De mooie locatie! Niet ver van fullufjallet NP, eenvoudig te bereiken over een rustige weg.
's avonds worden er heerlijke maaltijden bereid, en indien gewenst kun je een lunchpakket bestellen voor je wandelingen in het NP.
Er is zelfs een sauna!
Bart en Ellen zorgen ervoor dat het je aan niets ontbreekt.

It was a personal experience here - you could really feel their passion for what they are creating at this very special place. We really enjoyed getting to know Bart and Ellen a little bit - we were inspired by Bart’s travel adventures in particular. We travelled with 3 kids, who had an equally grand time. We did an ATV tour with Bart, which was a highlight. The food was lovely, and our cabin was clean, welcoming and comfortable. We wouldn’t hesitate to return to Villa Fregn again.

Reviewed May 7, 2024Dedicated owners of the hotel outperform in hospitality. Hotel is located in the beautiful natural surroundings of
Ljørdalen. Hiking and biking opportunities and close to Fulufjallets National Park.
The Hotel offers a warm and cozy atmosphere, is relaxing to stay and very clean rooms. Private and secure car parking. Last but not least the kitchen is outstanding! Just excellent!

Reviewed Mar 31, 2024Die besten Gastgeber, die man sich nur vorstellen kann! Bart kümmert sich persönlich um alle Wünsche, macht Vorschläge für Aktivitäten und Ausflüge ( vorheriges Buchen teilweise ratsam), aufmerksam.aber niemals aufdringlich.
Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und ein paar wundervolle Tage im Winterwunderland verbracht.
Die Hütte (auch ein altes Schulhaus, sehr geräumig und mit vielen originellen Details) ist nur einen kurzen Fussweg vom Haupthaus entfernt, wir waren jeden Tag mindesten einmal dort, für das fantastische Frühstück, die Sauna oder Abendessen.
Küche und Badezimmer der Hütte sind schon ziemlich in die Jahre gekommen und hätten wohl mal eine Renovierung nötig.
Das hat uns zwar nicht weiter gestört, sollte man aber vielleicht wissen.
Da alles andere unsere Erwartungen übertroffen hatten, tut das der Begeisterung auf jeden Fall keinen Abbruch.
