La atención y disposición de los anfitriones ws excelente, la pareja es muy amable y da valiosas sugerencias sobre qué actividades desarollar en Chiloé. Además, el hostel es muy acogedor, y te hace sentir en casa. Recomendadísimo, y esperamos volver.

This hostel was one of the cleanest AND cosiest I have stayed at in Chile! It was perfect for rainy days, with a modern clean kitchen with all new appliances and pots/pans. The lounge area was super comfy with a nice warm fire, and the owner was super nice and helpful with recommendations 🤗 It was perfect place to come back to after a few days camping to reset and enjoy rainy Chiloe.

Que no me dieron buen desayuno y que me tuve que cambiar de habitación, además la otra anfitriona no tuvo un trato muy cordial.. las reglas no estaban claras y necesitaba secar mi ropa, interrumpió una conversación, eso no se hace .. sin embargo todo ok solo esos detalles que espero les sirvan como crítica constructiva

¡El hostal es impecable! Es un lugar nuevo y siempre limpio, con atención hasta en los más mínimos detalles. La cocina está equipada con todo lo que necesitas y la ubicación es perfecta, justo al lado de los famosos palafitos. Pero lo que realmente marcó la diferencia fueron Fran y Marco, con su acogida amable y cariñosa; uno se siente como en casa. Me dieron muchos consejos sobre cómo aprovechar al máximo mis días en Chiloé. ¡Bien hecho, sigan así!

Nous avons été accueillies très chaleureusement par Marco. Il nous a recommandé des lieux à visiter, endroits pour manger… Il a été présent tout du long et très réactif. La literie est confortable ! Nous avons eu de l’eau chaude dans les douches.

Dans les espaces communs et salle de bains, il fait très froid à cette période.

La casa es hermosa, cálida y bien cuidado. Además está ubicada en una de las postales icónicas de Castro. Y sus dueños son la gentileza hecha persona.

Nos encantó todo del alojamiento. Primero, Marco y Fran son excelentes anfitriones, nos recomendaron panoramas para hacer desde el primer día y se preocuparon de nuestra comodidad en todo momento. Las habitaciones eran hermosas, la calidad de la cama y todos los elementos de la pieza eran maravillosos. Estaba todo impecablemente limpio y nos sentimos muy cómodas en todo momento. Realmente una excelente experiencia, queremos volver a la hostal si o sí.

Todo me gustó mucho.

Nos gustó un montón. Lo que más nos gustó, fue que estaba muy limpio y organizado. Cocina bien equipada, tenía todo lo necesario e incluso más de lo que se puede esperar. Camas muy cómodas y calentitas. Anfitriones nada que decir, nos apoyaron un montón, muy amenos y simpáticos (entregan muy buenos datos).

The room was cosy, the bed and bedding was really comfortable and warm, there was enough space for all my things, there was a desk at the window where I could do my writing, the bathrooms were large, spotless and had everything anyone would need (including a hairdryer), the kitchen was large, well-equipped and immaculate, the living room was cosy, comfortable and quiet. It is a great place to meet people because of the large kitchen table where guests gather. All in all the place exceeded my expectations and was in the perfect location for quiet and also for the local bus to the national park and a short walk into town (bus also an option if you don't like to walk like I do). The owners are amazing and helpful and friendly and kind. I would highly recommend staying here for a few nights at least so you can benefit from this wonderful space.

It was very clean! Thought was given to make it very comfortable. Tastefully decorated. Kitchen was well supplied with quality items. Best bed we’ve had so far in chile after a month of travel!

Our room was next to a bathroom . Shower and toilet noise was very loud in our room which wasn’t a problem except that someone for two nights in a row decided to take a 45 minute shower at 11.45pm. Waking us up. Could possibly be remedied with a note on the doors saying no showers after 11.00 pm.

Refugio Ballena es una tremenda opción de alojamiento para turistas en Castro, por varios factores. En primer lugar, la hospitalidad de Marco y Francisca hacen que uno se sienta en casa, son muy simpáticos, tremendos anfitriones y tienen la total disposición a recomendarte y elaborarte la ruta de viaje a Chiloé, ya que ellos conocen la isla como la palma de su mano, y hablan desde la experiencia. Además, por su hospitalidad y cercanía, hace que el ambiente del Hostal sea súper familiar, uno convive con los otros turistas y se generan lazos y grupos súper lindos entre los turistas y Marco y Francisca. Las instalaciones del Hostal son un 7, ya que cuenta con cocina, dispensador de agua, implementos y utensilios disponibles. Cuenta con una sala de estar con unos sofás súper cómodos, los baños siempre limpios además de contar con jabón y shampoo de cortesía, y la habitación que me alojé estaba impecable. Por útlimo, la ubicación es espectacular, ya que queda a 15 minutos caminando del centro o del terminal, y cerca del hostal hay varios minimarkets cerca. Si vuelvo a Castro sin duda me quedo aquí de nuevo.

El hostel en general es un verdadero lujo de lugar !! Todo ordenado y muy limpio. La distribución de los espacios es perfecta y los muebles son todos de óptima calidad. La atención de Marco fue extraordinaria !! Fue como estar en casa. Reserven este lugar con toda tranquilidad porque no se van a arrepentir. Mis felicitaciones por tener un lugar tan lindo y tan acogedor

Tal vez sería bueno incorporar desayuno.

La ubicación es muy buena alejada del centro. Los Desayunos y onces son al gusto nuestro. Marco nos provee todos los implementos necesarios para unos excelentes desayunos y onces.

Creo que la relación precio comodidad está en justa relación.

El hostal ofrece todo lo que un viajero puede necesitar: camas comodas, dormitorios con buen tamaño y muebles para almacenaje, baños limpios y de buen tamaño, una recepcion amplia con un espacio de estar ideal para el trabajo a distancia, para esperar el transporte o para la lectura, y una cocina amplia y muy equipada que puede ser usada para cocinar o compartir con los demas viajeros las experiencias o historias del día. El hostal ademas está a pasos del centro, de minimarkets, restaurantes y a unos metros del camino donde pasan los buses que viajan al sur de Castro. Cabe destacar la hospitalidad y la amable atencion que brindan Marco y Fran, los anfitriones, quienes con gusto te entregan tips y datos para recorrer la isla.

Mi dormitorio estaba perfecto. Me hubiera gustado poder pasar mas tiempo en el cuando quería relajarme durante la tarde pero el calor que hace en el segundo piso me lo impidió. No obstante, la hostal es fresca en el primer piso y me acomodé en los cómodos sofás que tienen en el estar

The property is super clean, the kitchen is great and has a lot of amenities. The hosts were absolutely adorable and such a precious help to find the best places to go in La Isla de Chiloé, amazing recommandations and also helped with the reservation of activities. All in all, always ready to help in any way possible and with such a warm and welcoming attitude.

La hospitalidad de Marcos! Lugar muy acogedor, excelente ubicación (a 1 cuadra de paradero para fácil acceso a lugares claves de la isla), a muy corta distancia del centro de Castro y con excelentes opciones gastronómicas alrededor. Lugar impecable, muy bien mantenido, baño funcionando impecable, habitación cómoda y lugar bastante silencioso para poder descansar. Destaco mucho también el desayuno y sobretodo todas las recomendaciones de itinerarios que me sugirieron, muy valioso para mi estadía.

Marco et Fran sont des hôtes très sympathiques, bienveillants et aidants! Ils ont su me conseiller sur mon voyage. L’hostel est très propre et bien décoré. Le petit déjeuner est très sympathique. Les casiers sont bien grands. La salle de bain est bien.

Le dortoir de 4 est un peu petit, heureusement nous n’étions que 2 (début novembre). Il faut prendre une grande montée pour accéder au centre ville et notamment au terminal de bus mais a priori Uber fonctionne bien (je ne l’ai pas utilisé)

Really lovely hostel, owners are helpful and kind and really give it a homey feel (it is their home!). Lots of common areas & very nice kitchen, we did a lot of cooking. Very clean. Owners provided great recommendations about the island we never would have found on our own. I particularly loved the sweet dog. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a chill spot on chiloe.

The owners are amazing, very friendly and super helpful. I needed a place to spend a few hours beforw my bus to Santiago at 6 pm, on a Sunday when all the libraries and most cafes were closed. They were very helpful and let me stay there the whole day and do my work. The place is clean and 20 minutes walk from the major attractions in Castro, and next to the palafitos. Highly recommend.

The best hostel we have stayed at in South America so far. The owners are really kind and great to talk with. The hostel itself is very clean, the beds are really comfortable, bathrooms are nice and the kitchen is really excellent. It has everything you need in abundance and the equipment is clean and modern. I highly recommend people stay here in Castro.

The hosts were very helpful and kept the place in a really good condition. The kitchen was fully equipped, and staying there was really enjoyable. They did recycling (really important for me). :). Love it. Highly recommended.

It would be one of the best hostels in Latin America. Nice owners have information on tourism and transportation. Very cozy like home.

Beds are a bit short in its height . I couldn’t sit on the bed with my back straight

The hosts were amazing. They trie to give you the best experience possible and know a lot of contacts to organise tours. It felt like a home away from home.

It was perfect, from the cozy vibes of the house, the cleanliness and the attention of the house. The bed was comfy,there is availability to use the kitchen wherever you want and it is nearby to restaurants and the city center in a very quiet neighbourhood. Marcos and his partner make you feel at home with their attention, welcoming you with real warm southern style.

It was super clean and the hosts are awesome!

The bunk room was a bit small but it wasn’t a problem because there were only two of us in there.

The beds have warmers. Very good for the winter time in June. The hosts helped me plan my trip tot the Patagonia. Marco recommended bus companies, let me use his phone to contact tour guides, and drove me at 5 am to the bus station. Most out going host that do all they can to make sure you are safe and comfortable.

The hosts are so nice and welcoming, the bathrooms are clean, the kitchen is spacious and well-organized, and fast response is a plus. Did spend a wonderful night here. I highly recommend to other backpackers!
