Our favourite holiday stay! This was our second year in a row staying at Ocean Bliss, which has become our little home in Arugam Bay. Arugam Bay has changed a lot in recent years and many places have become busier and too commercial, while Ocean Bliss has kept that simple, laid-back, family-run atmosphere that made us fall in love with it in the first place. The place is run by a wonderful local family who are incredibly kind, welcoming and always happy to help. The location is grear, the rooms are steps from the beach and very close to Main Point, ideal if you surf, and at the same time tucked away from the noise of the main road. There’s a lovely little garden and a communal veranda where you can just sit and chill. We love hanging out under the veranda with their sweet dog and cat, chatting with the family, or having an afternoon nap in the hammock after surfing. The rooms are spaciuos and comfortable and the atmosphere is feels personal and authentic, which is increasingly rare in Arugam Bay. We came back for a second year, and I’m pretty sure we’ll be back again. ❤️

Tenen habitacions senzilles però còmodes i molt netes, amb tot allò que pots necessitar, ho mantenen net i refrescat tot el dia. A fora hi ha unes quantes taules i una hamaca on estirar-te. També tenen un espai a l’ombra on pots guardar les taules de surf i estendre-hi la roba. El lloc és preciós i molt tranquil, però alhora queda súper a prop de la platja i del carrer principal. La família (especialment els dos nois) que porta el hostel és molt atenta i sempre està disposada a ajudar-te amb tot el que necessitis. Em van guardar el meu equipatge, que era força gran, durant una setmana mentre feia una ruta per Sri Lanka. També em van portar fins a la parada per agafar l’autobús i, fins i tot, me’n van reservar els bitllets. No puc estar més agraïda. De fet, ja he reservat la segona setmana amb ells. És un lloc meravellós!

Super close to the beach and restaurants, but tucked away to not be super noisy. Great spot if you’re there to surf.

La ubicación está bien ya que está al lado de la playa de arugam bay y de los clubs más famosos. El personal también muy amable

Hay habitaciones que no tienen AC y es imposible dormir sin ello. Luego las habitaciones están llenas de insectos , y huelen mal. Reservamos 5 noches pero nos fuimos tras la primera porque nos era imposible estar ahí. El casero nos cobró la mitad del precio de la estancia, no nos dejó para solo esa noche y algo más por la limpieza.

That’s a great place - stayed there for 3 nights and it was amazing. Great staff and everything perfect!

Great place to stay. The property is clean and the hosts are very welcoming. Ask about the surf lessons because they found us a really great instructor. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a nice private stay in Arugambay!

A un minuto y medio de la playa en la zona de baby point in main point. En ese aspecto, muy bien. Vive una familia humilde y dispuestos a ayudarte en todo con una sonrisa.

Esa zona en general, cuando el viento sopla fuerte, los aseos huelen un poco mal. Pude comprobar que no solo era en ese lugar, sino en otros también. Pero bueno, uno con unos inciensos lo soluciona bastante.

Great location! Staff were friendly when they were around.

It was just a bit average. Seemed a bit run down. Stains on the mosquito net etc, gap in the bathroom window and a frog and lizard got inside! It was okay though.

When we arrived we were asked if we had booked an AC Room or non AC. This is not specified anywhere when making the booking. We showed the staff our booking and they could not tell us either which one we booked. Someone else has to be called to figure it out and we were put into a non AC room. The room was way to hot and stuffy. Sleeping was very hard due to the heat. The room was nowhere near as nice as the photos and there was sewage coming out the back of the toilet. For the price you pay to stay here there are much better options available.

L'équipement tres complet de l'établissement : frigo, wifi, climatisation, lave-linge, kit tres confortable avec moustiquaires, l'emplacement proches des bons restaurants et main point pour le surf, et surtout la gentillesse de L'équipe: tout pour passer un bon séjour de 3 semaines .

Airco werd niet koud. Deze blies de lucht van buiten. Het was net te doen later op de avond. Ook was het bed vrij kort. Ik ben 182 centimeter en lag met mijn voeten buiten het bed. De klamboe zat vol met vlekken. Er is alleen een koude douche. Daarnaast besefte ik achteraf dat ik 10 dollar te veel heb betaald. Het was 72 dollar volgens Booking en ik heb 84 moeten betalen bij het uitchecken.

The room without air conditioning but only to fans was so hot and stuffy that I could barely sleep. Hosts were not friendly.

The family that runs it is nice and the location to the beach and main point is great while still being of the main road. In addition, the hosts offered to clean our room during our stay which was very nice.

The place doesn’t have a couple of things that are stated in the description such as sea view. Moreover there is a club nearby that is extremely loud until sunrise, especially during the weekends :/

Great location, great air con and nice room for the price. Nice to be in amongst everuthing while also being off the main strip at the same time.

Clean, peaceful, and well equipped

Really convenient place. Walking distance to the waves and comfortable rooms.

We had a misscomunication problem with the owners about the keys when we left, but finally we solved it without more issues

The location was excellent. Very close to the beach, the surfing point and the restaurants. We had our bags stored before our room was ready, and when we left we could keep the room for the entire day until our night bus arrived since the room had not been booked by others. New AC working very well. Room and bathroom was clean.

The bed was a little too short for me (I am 195cm tall).

Is a bit noisy if next to weekend as there’s a popular bar nearby but not too bad.

I loved the location of this guesthouse, the quieter and more peaceful edge of town, close to the beach and great places to eat. The owner was really helpful and accommodating also

The only thing I could say is that the foam mattress could have been a bit thicker and supportive

Stayed for a month and wish I could stay longer. Super friendly hosts (if you’re really lucky you might get curry and rice from Mum), nice clean rooms with arctic A/C. The best thing is the location though, 5 mins from Main Point, but away from the noise and bustle of the Main Street. 10/10 would stay again.

Location is prime, 1 minute walk to baby point, 7 minute walk on the beach to main point. 20 minutes toktok ride to up and down loctions such as puttovill point and pinuat farm. Advisable to take the AC room, you can manage the fan rooms but its much better to take the AC room. We asked to switch at half stay time from fan to AC room. The Manager and family were very nice , they took care of all our needs begining from colmobo pickup and return and ending with local surf points. I would definitely reccomend the spot.

No warm water, you can manage with showering in cold water, its refreshing, but it could be nice to get the option. towel change and spair could be nice.. we used the same towels during our stay. beds in rooms can be advised to be a bit longer in size end to end.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room reached my expectations and were clean. The best part about the accom was house close it was to the beach. Was only about a 150m walk until you were on sand. Would stay here again.

I really enjoyed my stay at Ocean Bliss! The room was nice and clean. Would recommend to everyone to go here. Harsha and his family are amazing and very helpful. And… next to the beach!! 30 seconds walk and you’re at the beach ready to surf, chill or swim! So happy that I have stayed there.

The place is in the perfect location, especially if you want to surf at main/baby point. The property is 2 min away from the beach and there are lots of great restaurants around. The rooms have king sized beds, mosquito nets, space to store your clothes, AC and a big bathroom. Also, there is a communal fully equipped kitchen with. The best part of the property for myself is the owner and his family and friends. They are incredibly helpful with organising the perfect stay for you and always have a smile on their face. Harsha’s mom even cooked rice & curry for us (best one I had during my 5 weeks in Sri Lanka!!). Thanks Harsha for an unforgettable time in A’Bay.
