Wilderness Cabin Onnela

Cabin Onnela surpassed all expectations, the location is spectacular, surrounded by snow and Northern Lights. The cabin is well equipped, with a hob and microwave, and a workable selection of kitchen utensils. Whilst it doesn't have mains water, it has an electric camping shower, and a water heater on the sauna chimney, and the hosts Teema and Lotta left plenty of drinking water for our stay. We loved wandering around the breathtaking snow covered scenery and peaceful nature, to come back to a cozy cabin and a sauna with a view. We were lucky enough to see several spectacular aurora displays over the frozen lake..All in all, it was an unforgettable experience!

Our stay in this wood cabin in Lapland was truly unforgettable. One of the highlights was the fantastic sauna—perfect after a day outdoors and exactly what you hope for in this part of the world. The location is absolutely stunning, set right by a peaceful lake, with hiking trails starting directly from the cabin. We were incredibly lucky to see the northern lights dancing right above the cabin and reflecting over the lake, a magical moment we’ll never forget. What made the experience even more special were the amazing hosts: warm, generous, and genuinely welcoming. They took us ice fishing and then welcomed us back home with a chance to try homemade salmon soup, which was the perfect ending to an already incredible day. This place is something truly special, and we would come back in a heartbeat.

Beautiful location, warm welcome, stunning sauna!

Wir hatten wunderbare Tage in Teemu‘s and Lotta‘s Cabin. Sie sind superbemüht und die Polarlichter können von dort aus beobachtet werden.

Wow! The location was exceptional! The way the hosts had set up the area was so kind. The fires in the cooking spot and in the wood fire sauna were roaring, all twinkle lights that made for a cosy welcome. We really enjoyed this night and will never forget the memories we made here.

Wonderful location and the view on the lake was amazing. It was an immersive experience in the nature.

The location is great and the views from the cabin to the frozen lake are amazing. We managed to see the northern lights during our time there. The place offers everything you need for a relaxing and unforgettable stay in Lapland.

We had the most amazing night in this cabin, when we arrived we got a very warm welcome from Teemu. Later he texted us an aurora alert was active, and indeed we were blessed with an amazing show, the frozen lake was the best spot to watch it from. The accomodation and sauna were also very comfortable, despite a temperature of around -20C. We would like to thank Teemu for the amazing night we had, which will forever be in our memory. We highly recommend this place and will certainly come back if we ever go to Finnish Lapland again.

Spent NYE night at this cabin and had an incredible time. The sauna and ice dip were amazing, the outside fire very cosy and we got lucky with spectacular northern lights over the lake. Highly recommend this stay.

We spent a dream night in this cocooning chalet and we saw the most magnificent spectacle: the Northern Lights all night long! The host is very kind and available for any questions. Thank you again for this timeless moment which will be forever engraved in our memory.

I could not imagine a better stay to experience Finland's wilderness. You are likely to see roaming around in the morning. The views from the cabin are amazing and the sauna is exceptional. To top it off, Teemu is an incredibly nice host who strives to make your stay a perfect one.
