This is an exceptional B&B, more like a mini five star hotel. The purpose built rooms are high quality and the breakfast is restaurant quality. Highly recommend. Very well owned and managed.

This place is an absolute gem! Ciara met me on arrival and quickly altered which room to allocate us when she realised we had two big dogs...a ground floor room was perfect. From that first interaction until our final goodbye it really was a total pleasure to stay at Barnahown. Ciara has thought of so many things which really elevate the stay above and beyond the usual b&B experience. Gorgeous hand soap and body wash in our bathroom, a bathroom mirror with integrated Bluetooth speaker, floor length mirror on the bathroom door, artwork depicting the locality, local producers championed at breakfast, produce from the garden cooked to order as part of the breakfast offering, welcome drinks, an honesty bar, access to plates, cutlery, and glasses for our takeaway. I could go on and on! There's a place for the dogs to potter and poo, plus a sausage at breakfast for good doggos! They were really made to feel welcome. Go to Barnahown, you won't be disappointed.

Everywhere I go, I always want bigger towels, and Barnahown is no exception. I'm an ample human who loves a luxury bath sheet, sorry, it's the teeniest extra want.

Fabulous decor, facilities, staff. Access to lovely patio area. My dogs were very comfortable there & very welcomed by Ciara and her very friendly staff.

Small gripe. Lovely homemade breakfast with all sorts of fresh ingredients. Asked for poached egg which wasn't possible.

Everything was absolutely beautiful! Exactly as you see in the pictures! We had a wonderful time, delicious food and the friendliest owner who pays attention to detail and does everything to the highest standard!

It was in a beautiful location; minutes from Mitchelstown but felt like it was in the middle of the country. The setting was fabulous and so well presented. The bedrooms were lovely and incredibly well finished and great quality- the bed was really comfortable and we had a great sleep. We had both our dogs with us so Ciara recommended a ground floor room with easy access to the patio for the dogs which worked perfectly. The patio and outside dining space are a great and a bonus in the good weather! Breakfast was fantastic! Everything was delicious and incredibly well presented; really could not fault it at all! Ciara is really lovely and gave us great recommendations for places to eat and drink nearby as well as suggestions for places to go on our onward travels. This is easily the nicest B&B I have ever stayed in, couldn’t recommend it enough!

Absolutely beautiful scenery, property, and renovations. Tastefully and artistically done. Loved spending relaxing time looking at the eye candy scenery. Comfortable and spotlessly clean accommodations.

Absolutely stunning, the style and charm and comfort, was amazing, 5 star luxury and the most welcoming host, breakfast was above and beyond, so glad we got this experience in the heart of Mitchelstown.

Stayed here for one night with my dog on the way back from Cobh and honestly wasn’t sure what to expect, but we were made to feel so welcome from the minute we pulled up. The place is stunning, a beautifully restored old farmhouse with the Galtee Mountains right there in front of you. It’s the kind of place you’d kick yourself for not visiting sooner. Ciara is one of the kindest hosts I’ve come across and a real example of Irish welcoming nature at its best. My dog was treated like a VIP guest, no awkwardness at all. She went out of her way to recommend dog friendly places to eat, things to see, and even pointed us towards the Galtee Mountains for a hike the moment she noticed we were on a road trip. Caught the sunset from up there. Hard to beat. Breakfast the next morning lived up to every review I’d read. The chilli eggs were seriously good, but honestly everything from the granola to the coffee had this je ne sais quoi about it that left you feeling completely refreshed and set up for the day. Proper food done properly. The room itself was spotless, really nicely put together with lovely little touches you wouldn’t expect. You can tell real care and thought goes into every part of this place. Would absolutely come back and the dog would too. 10/10.

We had an amazing experience at Barnahown, starting with the lovely warm welcome we received on arrival from Ciara. The interior design of the house is beautiful, warm, and cozy, making for a very comfortable atmosphere. My daughter particularly enjoyed the hot tub! and our little dog loved her stay. The breakfast was delicious and made from locally sourced ingredients. I highly recommend it for anyone but especially those looking for a dog friendly place to stay.

Beautiful spot and great value for money. We really enjoyed the hot tub in the evening. Lots of tea/coffee making facilities in the kitchen and the honesty bar was great too. Breakfast in the morning was amazing.

Breakfast was delicious. Bacon & scrambled eggs from owner Ciaras lovely chickens with a delicious little side dish of a chilli/tomato/cashewnut relish, sourdough toast & coffee yum! It was a very relaxing breakfast chatting with another guest. It was perfect. I was also able to purchase two jars of local Galtee Irish wildflower honey from Ciara. It is excellent also that I could have my little dog stay with me at Barnahown. Thank you Ciara 😍👏🏻.

The breakfast was excellent, with a fantastic selection of local products. The accommodation is located in a place that has been renovated with great attention to detail, while maintaining the highest quality and preserving the character of the building. Ciara is a fantastic person and a wonderful host. Staying at her place was a great pleasure. We would gladly return there with our cat.

Sara è stata un host impeccabile ci ha fatto sentire a casa fin da subito; Barnahown è stato ristrutturato quattro anni fa ed stato costruito con amore e si vede in ogni dettaglio! Adatto anche per chi ha intolleranze come noi, la colazione è stata fenomenale, molto buona e curata nel dettaglio. La camera e il bagno super puliti, la doccia molto bella e larga con doccione grande. Peccato aver passato una sola notte!

Il soggiorno presso Barnahown B&B è stato delizioso. Le lenzuola profumate, tutto pulitissimo, il letto davvero morbido e comodo. Ogni camera porta il nome di una delle montagne vicine e nel corridoio ci sono diverse foto molto belle dell'Irlanda. Ciara è un padrona di casa impeccabile! Ci ha accolti con entusiasmo spiegandoci la storia della sua casa e tante info sul territorio. Abbiamo fatto un'ottima colazione con prodotti locali freschi.

L'unica pecca è la posizione in quanto Mitchelstown è davvero un piccolo paesino e non ha moltissimo da offrire. In Irlanda ci sono tanti paesini, molto più graziosi e caratteristici.

The breakfast was superb, a lot of local produce , eggs from their own hens and served by the owner and assistant. The breakfast room is very pleasing and there was an opportunity to talk and chat with other guests.

We had an incredible time here. The house and property are impressive and you could tell there's been a lot of thought and time and effort put into it. The house and rooms are in exceptional condition. Clean, modern, and comfortable. I didn't know about, or notice, the hot tub when booking, but experiencing a soak under the stars was not only recuperative but an wonderful memory. If things couldn't get better, we only had to sleep. Ciara prepared an Irish breakfast that was truly special. All local ingredients, including some very local eggs. Look, this is a phenomenal place to stay. If you need a central homebase to see Rock of Cashel and Cork, this is it. Stop, you found it.

Ciara is one of the best hosts I’ve ever stayed with. She went well out of her way to welcome me and my dog. I love the sustainable principles, all the extra touches, the breakfast was delicious and Ciara helped me find the best spots to sightsee. She was absolutely perfect.

Exceptional accommodation with a real attention to detail from the interior design to food ( breakfast) and one of the best honesty bars i’ve come across. Ciara has clearly put a lot of love into this renovation. Plenty of outdoor space - we were lucky to have stayed in a hot evening - so sat with a bottle of wine in the sunshine .

The owner, Ciara, was amazing. She connected in via WhatsApp message the day before to confirm arrival time. We were delayed as we needed to charge our car at Cashel, but Ciara said she had car charging facilities, which was fantastic. We were welcomed with a lovely friendly smile and given a tour of the renovated cottage and facilities which are amazing, we enjoyed the lovely out buildings and hot tub

The walk into Mitchelstown by old historic work house was lovely. However, the last bend on the road into town was extremely dangerous, crossing for pedestrians onto the road into the town. A foot bridge inside this road would be welcomed for tourist safety.

We loved everything about our stay at Barnahown, Mitchelstown. The accommodation is beautiful, every detail has been chosen with care by the owner Ciara so that it looks lovely, feels comfortable and everything is sourced locally, from the lemonade in the fridge to the artwork on the walls and the keys to the bedroom doors. We had two great nights of sleep and fabulous breakfasts. Ciara was very helpful in meeting my special dietary requirements. The food was delicious! The hot tub is a delight with great views of the mountains and fragrances from the garden which has been lovingly planted and promises to be even more special as it grows. We also really appreciated Ciara taking the time to create an itinerary for us, and we had a fantastic day enjoying both a walk and visiting some local sights. It really was the most enjoyable stay and we hope to be back again in the future!

Ciara is an absolutely delightful host -- welcoming, friendly and passionate about her B&B and about building the local community. She has a keen eye for design and has done an amazing job renovating the place. The overall ambience is just great. We are breakfast people, and her offering was top notch, with delicious locally sourced ingredients and thoughtful attention to detail. We also enjoyed meeting the local calves just behind the jacuzzi area. We will definitely return and look forward to seeing the results of her phase two expansion!

Wish we had stayed more than one night, but we do plan to be back!

We enjoyed a generous and delicious breakfast featuring fresh, local products. It was the perfect way to start the day. A special mention goes to Ciara, whose kindness and hospitality made us feel completely at home from the moment we arrived. She truly goes above and beyond to make her guests feel comfortable. The B&B is brand new and super nicely renovated. The beds are very comfortable (they even have feather duvets). Cierra is an amazing host, warm and made us great breakfast (we will be dreaming about these scrambled eggs!!). We will recommend this place everywhere we go

What I liked the most about the accommodation was the attention we received. Ciara was lovely, advising us on everything that might be interesting for us, as well as serving us a delicious breakfast.

The house is a bit secluded from the town, although this may not be a negative thing, as everything truly seemed excellent to us.

Ciara is an absolutely fantastic host who goes above and beyond. We enjoyed two fabulous nights here. Could not fault anything. Breakfast was excellent and got to sample alot of different produce from the surrounding area. I cannot recommend this place enough, from the hot tub, to fresh eggs for breakfast to the beautiful rooms. It's a little hidden gem.

This place was exceptional - not to be missed! Ciara was a fabulous host. She was very friendly, provided information on the area, and made a great, locally sourced breakfast. After staying here, we saw a program on Ireland public TV about how Barnahown came to be - from idea to opening day. Amazing story!

It was the pure essence of what is good about Irish Tourism. Nothing was too much trouble. They listened to our conversations, so the recommendations were very personal to us. Just book it and go. You won't regret it.

Absolutely stunning property, it’s such a cosy home away from home feel. Ciara went above and beyond and really made me feel welcome. All the little touches made the experience even better. The perfect retreat after a busy day in the office and I can’t wait to come back. You have the luxury of the hot tub with stunning views, home cooked breakfast from the free roaming hens and all local Irish produce served. I could not have asked for any more, I was delighted!
