This was without a doubt one of the best and most memorable stops of my entire 15-day trip around Sri Lanka. I stayed with Vipul, his wife and their family, and from the very beginning, I felt completely at home. Their generosity, kindness, warmth and genuine hospitality are something I will never forget. As a woman travelling alone, I truly felt like I was staying with my own uncle and aunt, who were taking care of me and making sure I was happy and comfortable. I spent the evening talking with Vipul and his wife, and we continued chatting over breakfast the next morning. These are the kinds of moments that make travelling so special. They didn’t just welcome me into their home they genuinely made me feel like part of the family. I slept very well, and they took such wonderful care of me throughout my stay. The food was absolutely incredible. The homemade dinner was, without any doubt, the best rice and curry I ate during my entire 15 days in Sri Lanka. It was delicious and made with so much love. And their kindness went even further: they prepared breakfast for me to take away for my train journey afterwards. Such a small gesture, but one that touched me deeply. The house itself is beautiful, and the location is excellent very central and convenient, making it easy to explore Kandy. I have a huge soft spot for these people. ❤️ I honestly cannot thank them enough for all the smiles, kindness and beautiful memories they gave me. This stay was a truly meaningful part of my Sri Lankan journey. I will come back and stay with them again without the slightest hesitation. And I will recommend their beautiful home to all my friends and family. If you are looking for more than just a place to sleep if you want to experience genuine Sri Lankan hospitality and leave with a warm heart please stay here. Abbiamo soggiornato presso Hideaway Homestay purtroppo solo per due giorni, perché meritava davvero. La camera stupenda, la migliore di tutto il nostro viaggio in Sri Lanka. Vipul e sua moglie super accoglienti e disponibili, ci hanno accompagnato in alcuni tuor e le colazioni che ci hanno preparato erano spaziali. Veramente consigliato. Grazie mille di tutto!

We had a wonderful time in Kandy, thanks in part to this lovely place to stay. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the place had all the amenities we needed. The hosts provided delicious meals and gave us an impressive tour of the city. We felt right at home.

Beautiful house set high above the city. It’s quite a distance from centre, so it’s very peaceful. Lovely rooms, fantastic hosts and home cooked meals are delicious. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay at Hideaway Homestay Kandy. The hosts were incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visit. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The property has a peaceful atmosphere with beautiful views, making it a perfect place to relax. The location is convenient for visiting Kandy’s attractions while still being quiet and surrounded by nature. We truly appreciated the hospitality and felt at home from the moment we arrived.

From the moment we arrived, Vipul and Kosala were extremely helpful and hospitable. They made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. It is truly one of the best places to relax and enjoy your holiday. The rooms and washrooms were very clean and well maintained. Highly recommended!

Wir wurden von Vipul aus der Stadt abgeholt, wofür wir nach der Busfahrt von Colombo nach Kandy sehr dankbar waren. Die Unterkunft ist wunderschön. Das Frühstück war toll und auch die traditionellen Gerichte zum Dinner waren fantastisch. Es war super sauber und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Es gibt neben deren Speisekarte für Frühstück, Lunch und Dinner, auch noch die Möglichkeit Ausflüge zu buchen. Da wir selbst ein Tuktuk hatten, hat Vipul uns einige Spots in der Nähe empfohlen. Wir wären gerne länger geblieben und hoffen eines Tages nochmal dort übernachten zu können.

Super lieve gastheer & zijn vrouw. We werden open ontvangen & ook fijne kamer. We konden savonds bij hen eten en dat is zeker een aanrader! Hij gaf ook veel tips over wat te doen, wat erg handig was. Zeker een aanrader voor als je naar Kandy gaat!

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour au Hideaway homestay Kandy. L’endroit est très calme et offre une vue magnifique sur la nature. Les chambres sont très spacieuses et confortables. Les hôtes sont très gentils et et accueillant. Je recommande vivement.

A perfect stay. They are fantastic hosts. The room was lovely and clean, a great bathroom too. The views were incredible from the property. The bed was so soft, great aircon. We did laundry at the property too which was priced well. We enjoyed dinner one night there which was nice and spent the evening chatting with the hosts, Vipul and Kosala. Wish we could have stayed longer, one of the best places we have stayed. Highly recommend!

Bello l’alloggio, villetta su due piani di cui il secondo dedicato ad accogliere gli ospiti. Camera spaziosa con balconcino esterno dove fare pranzo cena e colazione. È stato un grande piacere conoscere gli host, chiacchierarci al mattino e soprattutto alla sera quando cenavamo in struttura. Molto consigliate le cene, veramente ottime.

Friendliest people you will ever meet, best food you'll ever have. Beautiful surroundings. Vipul does tours around Kandy, and Kosala creates magic in the kitchen. Rooms are nice and very clean. Highly recommend!

Chambre au calme chez l’habitant, l’accueil était très sympathique et avenant. Les repas et petits déjeuner sont copieux et délicieux! Nous avons bien dormi, la literie est très confortable. Merci à Vipul et sa femme!

We had a wonderful stay here. The view is stunning, the location peaceful, and everything is spotlessly clean. The room was spacious with the most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept in. The family is warm and welcoming, and the food they prepare is absolutely delicious – a real highlight of our time in Kandy.

Quiet location with great views only a few kms from town. Vipul and Korsala are wonderful hosts. Delicious breakfast and they looked after my travel needs. Vipul was my driver to Ella and they made my journey memorable. I highly recommend staying there.

Ruhige Gegend, um das Haus ein schöner Garten, Blick in die Bäume; viel Platz. Die Gastgeber sind sehr herzliche und liebenswerte Menschen. Hilfsbereit und intelligent. Sie haben uns bei der Reiseplanung geholfen und uns für viele Fragen wertvolle Tpis gegeben. Sie fühlen sich für das Wohlergehen ihrer Gäste verantwortlich. Wir wären gern länger geblieben!

We werden onwijs vriendelijk ontvangen door Vipul en zijn vrouw. Daarnaast werden we goed verwend met lekker eten en drinken, Vipul nam ons mee op trip en liet ons alle leuke plekken zien. Ze spreken goed Engels dus het communiceren ging heel gemakkelijk :) Daarnaast hebben we goed kennis gemaakt met de lokale keuken, tevens winnen zij ook de prijs voor de lekkerste douche én het lekkerste zachte bed ☺️

This place is a real gem in Kandy. Vipul and his family are really welcoming and helpful. The place is beautiful and authentic, with very nice views of the mountains around Kandy. The food was also delicious. Definitely recommended!

Vipul and his wife are true hosts; they made us feel at home, they want you to spend a great time and you feel it in your heart ☺️ Thank you for the amazing guide tour in the city, spending the day with Vipul to see all we wanted from tea factory, gem factory to Bahiwara temple and the tooth temple - he would share all the stories about Kandy in a perfect english. And special well done for the accommodation and breakfasts/dinners: at first we wanted to go out and experience the food in the city BUT after the first dinner we decided to have food all the time there: food quality is the best we had in our whole trip, we always compared the food and it never matched it 😎 the view from the room is a plus plus, so peaceful but not that far away from the city center so you can reach it easily. Vipul and his wife are very caring - also helped us to get our train to Ella the last day after some challenges. We would highly recommend this place and would go back anytime we would be again in Sri Lanka. Thank you 🙏🥹

We had the best time at Hideaway Homestay which is located roughly 15 minutes by tuktuk from Kandy and conveniently located to visit the nearby botanical gardens. From the very comfortable mattresses, good equipment (hair dryer, comfortable chair and cozy lights) to the nice terrace which is great for a relaxed breakfast or morning Yoga. But the best are the super friendly hosts who made us feel like coming home every day, while also respecting the need for privacy. They are very knowledgeable and due to their good English cannot only help out with every need but also give interesting insights into the people and culture of Sri Lanka. Also the provided breakfast and dinner was the best we had during our travels on the islands. All in all the perfect place, if you prefer a calmer environment than being in the busy city.

One side of the bed had no power outlet, but that's nothing compared to everything else that was great.

Staying at Hideaway Homestay in Kandy was such a special experience! From the moment we arrived, the hosts made us feel so welcome and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. It honestly felt like coming home. The food was incredible—hands down the best curry we had during our entire trip through Sri Lanka! Every meal was cooked with so much love, and we looked forward to it every day. The rooms were super clean, and we really enjoyed sitting on the covered balcony with its beautiful view. It was such a peaceful spot to relax. We’d recommend this place to anyone visiting Kandy and will definitely stay here again next time we’re in Sri Lanka!

Vipul, the host, is incredibly helpful and willing to think along with his guests. For instance, he helped us arrange a train ticket from Kandy to Ella. The accommodation has everything you need, including a comfortable and spacious bed. It is also exceptionally clean. The value for money is outstanding. We highly recommend this accommodation!

Good Place for the Get Relaxing

Vipul and his wife are such lovely people that make you really make you feel like home!

This was the perfect place to rest our head after a busy day of travelling from Sigiriya to Kandy. The room itself is exceptional and very spacious & modern with an amazing view from the balcony where we had the most amazing breakfast prepped by the host (they even made us date cake to celebrate Xmas!) The bathroom and shower were superb. The hosts were loveliest people and very accommodating. . If you get up early you can see a great sunrise from the hill top on your balcony!

Everything was perfect but just to be aware the accommodation is up a steep hill but they provide parking on premises if driving and we were able to make it up on our Tuk Tuk :)

Very warm welcome by the hosts, absolutely beautiful and well maintained, spacious place with beautiful views.The food was great and facilities excellent. Much as we enjoyed the place, it was the hosts that really made us feel that we were staying with old friends. A short but memorable stay, would love to go back again, recommended with 5 stars!

Everything! The room was so comfortable with everything we needed for a great stay. Vipul took us on a tour of Kandy and it was so interesting and enjoyable. We also ate breakfast and dinner here and it was delicious! Thank you for welcoming us into your home, it was our best homestay and we've already recommended you to other people :-)

The warm welcome from Kosala and Vipul has been the highlight of our stay. They really made us feel at home. As we arrived, they were two strangers, but as we left, they were to very good friends to us. They were very helpful with everything, answered all our questions, and Kosala's cooking was always delicious. They were always keen on making sure we were satisfied with everything. The room and bathroom were both very clean and confortable. The bed was also very comfortable. We also really enjoyed the big terrace with table and chair which allowed us to regularly relax, eat and/or work on our computers. The place is situated about 15min drive from the main center but this allows for a very calm and quiet place. Kosala and Vipul's english is very good which allowed for really great exchanges.

It would be hard to find any negative point. As we stayed 10 days there, we enjoyed preparing and eating our own food a few times, and we were just missing a sink to do so, but that said, Kosala and Vipul were always keen on helping us out and providing what we needed. They told us that they are planning on adding such facility on the terrace which will render the place even better for those who, like us, like to prepare and eat their own food at times.

Absolutely amazing Homestay! The room was clean, modern and comfortable with incredible views from the balcony. The hosts are incredible! They are friendly and they really make you feel like part of the family. All the meals I had there were super delicious. It is a bit out of Kandy so it is really peaceful and quiet. I loved it. I also think this would be a great place for people who want to do remote work.

I loved everything.

We had an amazing stay at Hideaway Homestay Kandy, we felt instantly at home. Vipul drove us around Kandy to see all the highlights and when we got home Kosala cooked us the most delicious dinner (maybe even the best we had in the whole of Sri Lanka!). Both of them are very welcoming and open and we had such nice and interesting conversations with the four of us. The two sweet dogs are also very welcoming :) In addition, the bed was more comfy than my own... The last morning Vipul even drove us to the train station and bought us tickets. Thank you both for all the great care! I would recommend this lovely homestay to everybody!

We loved the Hideaway Homestay. A lovely room with a very comfortable bed and nice bathroom / shower. Vipul and his wife were excellent hosts and made our stay so easy. They really helped us feel at home in Kandy and were very helpful in advising us on train tickets, places to eat and travel plans.

this homestay was amazing! we had a wonderful time staying here, the owner are incredibly nice and accommodating. They made delicious dinner and breakfast for us every day, picked us up from the train station and drove us around and showed us all the wonderful sights of Kandy. It was very affordable as well. We would highly recommend staying here if you want to have a very welcoming, personal and homely experience :))

Not necessarily a bad thing, but just be aware that the homestay is located out of the city center so you will need to be driven around to get to the different places in Kandy.

It was one of our best stays in Sri Lanka by far. Hosts are incredibly helpful and friendly and nothing is too much for them. The food is great too! And the best part...incredible views from the balcony and the most comfortable bed we had the entire week. Wold defnitely stay there again!

Beautiful house, owned by kind hearted people 🙏🏼 bohoma istouti! Can 100% recommend. Its a quite place with lovely view. Cozy beds and big bathroom. Everyrhing was clean and wellmade. It felt like a home. Food was very good :) prices were fine. If you come by tuktuk pay attencion its a steep street. We miss pinky and shelly 🐶🐕

Away from the chaos of the city centre. Surrounded by the trees with the nice view from the terrace. Hosts were kind and helpful.

The mattress first and foremost, it was soft. The room and view was very pleasant and relaxing.

There is nothing I disliked.

It was an exceptional stay. A perfect place to start my Sri Lanka trip. Vipul and his wife were amazing hosts, very welcoming, caring, and helpful in every way possible. Vipul showed me some interesting sightseeing around Kandy, so we made the most out of my short stay! Location is outside from town so you will have no city noises around you, just beautiful nature sounds. Anyone will have a great sleep there as well. Can recommend also for solo travellers like me. Such a wonderful place. Vipul and Kosala will do everything to make you feel welcome and even home away from home. House, rooms and surroundings are beautiful, Vipul does great tours around Kandy, and Kosala makes the best food as in the best food you could ever wish for. There's a relaxed atmosphere, and it's close to botanical garden and a short drive from busy Kandy downtown. 6 out of 5 stars 💥

I loved everything about this home.

I had an amazing time here. The owners are so nice, they cooked me delicious food and took me on a tour of the whole Kandy!! They are so helpful and kind. The room was super clean and fresh, the Wi-Fi is super good and breakfast was 10/10!! I really recommend this place!

Awesome hosts, one of the best homestay feels. It’s peaceful place with nice view to mountains and stupa. Despite the city center of Kandy is 10min tuktuk drive away, you only hear nature sounds such as crickets, birds, rooster in the morning and sometimes dogs barking. The style and cleanliness are top notch. Vipul and Kosala are so kind and great to get to know to. Vipul will take you to places and offers guidance while letting you explore yourself as well and all with good prices. Kosala creates tasty local delicacies with attention to quality and preparation methods, without burning our western tastebuds with too much chili or curry. And if these are not enough to keep most of us coming back, they have two adorable family dogs. There is Shelly – beautiful, friendly and well taken cared of family dog who loves company and cuddling. Her sister’s name I cannot remember but she also loves cuddles. P.S. Ask Vipul to pick you up. It will be the same cheap price as with PickMe, and it will be more convenient since he knows exactly where to drive and he can already welcome you while driving.

I couldn’t be more happy with my stay at Hideaway. It was one of the best stays I had in the whole of Sri Lanka. The owners are incredibly sweet and also very nice to talk to. We chatted about almost everything, they cooked us amazing food and I really felt part of their family. Can’t wait to get back and stay there again!

That I had to leave again..

Could not have asked for more. Hot private shower, comfortable bed (the best nights sleep in Sri Lanka so far), fast/reliable wifi, and home-cooked Sri Lankan meals. Hideaway is a fitting name. So close to Kandy, yet you feel tucked away from the chaos of the city. So good we turned our 1 night stay into 2.

Beautiful place in nature with a spacious room. Space to park your tuktuk. The best thing is the owners who truly make you feel at home. They are not just friendly, they are beyond welcoming and create a peaceful homey place for their guests. They know everything about Kandy and can help you plan your activities in the city. We loved it and would 100% come back.

The homestay is surrounded by nature. Wonderful trees, beautiful birds, fireflies in the night. We have seen also an hummingbird! An oasis of peace few minutes by tuk tuk or bus from the crowded Kandy. But, what make Hideaway Homestay a special place, are Vipul and his wife Kosala. They are kind and very professional and Kosala is an extraordinary cook. Their warm hospitality make you feel at home away from home. We strongly recommend this gem of a homestay.

10/10 on all accounts. This homestay was our favourite accomodation in Sri Lanka by far!! With an amazing view, lovely, clean bedrooms (with a really comfy bed), and the best hosts you could ask for, we would recommend this place to anyone! Definitely will make your trip in Kandy, and if you can spend a few days Vipul will happily do tours to local areas which I can only imagine are excellent!

This place was like being at home during our stay in Kandy. Vipul,Kosala and her mother were like family for us. The room is amazing with a beautiful view. Everything was perfectly clean and nice. Kosala's food was amazing, she cooked for us vegetarian rice and curry every night and delicious breakfast, our favorite food in Sri Lanka. Vipul was very friendly from the beginning, he offers transport service with his own car, which is something very convenient. We already miss them so much and we are looking forward to return to our Sri Lankan family!

This homestay is fantastic. It is run by a wonderfully sweet couple who make you feel at home. In the end we did not want to leave and would rather stay a little longer. Vipul took us around town and showed us Kandy. We had a delicious and very complete breakfast every day. The beds were wonderfully soft. This homestay is the perfect balance between city and nature. This homestay was amazing. Vipul and his wife are amazing people and are so welcoming and nice. We loved our stay there. Vipul drove us around in kandy and showed us some of the nice spots kandy has to offer! Clean rooms and good breakfast as well. I would definitely recommend everybody to stay here is your looking for a beautiful room with a nice view of the mountains.

This is amazingly nice and quiet place, and one of the best guesthouses I ever been The owners are amazing people, very friendly and kind. Everyday I was enjoying tasty breakfast, room was clean, bathroom is modern and good working. View out of room is amazing and I feel really comfortable. It is placed far from Kandy, but owner provides non expensive transfer to Kandy and also tuck-tucks are available.

The most amazing homestay ever! I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Firstly, the room has high ceilings and a beautiful balcony as well as a true king sized bed (one of the comfiest beds I have slept on). Secondly, the family is so kind and helpful. Truly felt like family staying here- they helped me order Uber eats to the house and you also have the option of ordering breakfast, lunch and dinner for an additional cost with the homestay. I ordered breakfast with them and it was delicious and worth the cost! Fresh fruits and omelette and dosas with chutney (there are also continental options). It is about a 15 minute drive to town so you are away from the noise and bustle of Kandy city (after spending time during the day in Kandy I was really happy to have my oasis at night). Tuk tuks to and from the stay cost 600-800 depending on your driver, but Vipul will drive you anywhere you need for a price if you have a hard time getting a Tuk Tuk. Everything was so clean and fresh, the bathroom was modern and I was able to do laundry with them for a small cost as well. I am going to miss this place and will return back if I am ever in Kandy again :)

Quiet location with great views 15 minute from centre. 800 for a tuk tuk. But owner also dropped me off and made sure I had everything I needed. Even a sarong to get into the temple. I’m a bloke..

The view and the calm surroundings were the main attraction of this beautiful property. The early morning view will surely take your breath away. Hideaway home stay is a very clean place. The host and his family's hospitality were great. The food tasted super. They provided us with scrumptious lunch, dinner, and breakfast for a very minimal cost. The host went out of his way to take us to a beautiful seanic location called Ambuluwawa. All of us (including our grown-up kids) enjoyed the stay very much, and we are looking forward to surely visiting again.

I really enjoyed staying at this homestay, I stayed for 1 day and it was super relaxing with the view, the climate was amazing as the terrace was open and has a panoramic view. We were served breakfast and it was outstanding with Sri Lankan cuisines and many variations.

The host is very friendly and helpful. Because we booked last minute, 2 hours before arrival, they didn't expect us. But they did everything to make our stay the best! The woman can cook very good and gave us lovely diner and breakfast. The room was big and clean and had an amazing view!

Just 15 minutes’ drive from Kandy town and was a perfect stopover on our way to Ella. The hosts were friendly and extremely obliging. They served us delicious breakfast. Highly recommended.
