We could hear car noise from our windows, and because it was summer, we had to keep the windows open, which made the noise a bit annoying. Aside from that, it was great

The only thing l would say is that it was not possible to contact the hotel by phone.

Reviewed Jun 28, 2026A quirky, old fashioned place with lots of interesting features. The location was convenient. The staff were on hand, responsive and always friendly.
No lift - not great if you have arthritis and have a room on the 2nd floor - though we were given help with our luggage. Parking was a squeeze, but felt secure. No AC in room and on a very hot night it was uncomfortable.

Reviewed May 22, 2026Cosy comfortable double room with extra bed. Smart television with WiFi included.Tea and coffee facility was a comfort. Shower and bathroom was spotless. Plenty of towels. Extremely comfortable bed. Breakfast was on point and staff are just so friendly. Dinner menue was also good comfort food. With the bar downstairs the night was lively. Opportunity to sing a song if you like. Good vibes all round and nice places to walk along the Avoca River and across the 19 arch bridge over to the marina and shopping centre. I have stayed before and I will stay again.

The room needs a refresh as well as the bathroom, it's a bit dated. The music/ noise from the bar was fairly loud even on the 3rd floor.

The room was comfortable and cosy with nice facilities - good heating, tea/coffee and kettle, bathroom. It's a busy pub, or at least it was when I was checking in; pleasant staff. Check out at midday. Happy to stay again!
Just TV remote control issues - sometime working, sometimes not so well, a bit frustrating (maybe it was just the batteries)... Nothing else that comes to mind right now.

Sadly hotel is a bit jaded! There are artificial flowers that don’t seem to have been dusted for years. My advice - chuck them all - they only draw attention to lack of overall cleanliness which isn’t the case.

The decor is very dated. The two phone books from 2004. The ugly ironing boards in the hall ways. The fake plant on the stairs that looks dead anyway.

Reviewed Sep 9, 2025The proprietor was extremely helpful. Helped take my panniers/ bags up to my room. There was secure bicycle storage facilities there. The room was lovely ; nice comfy bed, great bathroom, nice view of the river. The pub itself was a traditional Irish pub and breakfast there was very good. opposite was an excellent Thai restaurant overlooking the river. The town was full of pubs! Close by is a bicycle sales and repair shop handy if you have bicycle technical problems.
All was fine. No dislikes.

Decor was a bit outdated but the room was cosy and clean. Beds were very comfortable. Staff and owners were very friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere in the bar. Would return to this hotel and would highly recommend it.

Reviewed Jun 19, 2025Location was perfect, nice stroll around town. It’s a basic room, I imagine it would be cosy warm in winter - it was certainly warm in June. Great pints with the locals, we thoroughly enjoyed our night. We didn’t realise there were no meals on a Tuesday, however we highly recommend the Asian restaurant across the street.
The shower needs a really good scrub, you’ll need to get in behind the doors to see the mould.
