Hotel Simara

Had a very pleasant stay. Interestingly, just around 100 meters from highway, it was totally peaceful there. Rooms were small, cozy with most necessary amenities. Family room was pretty, like a tiny suite to accommodate your small family perfectly. Breakfast was actually highlight of the stay. Lovely breakfast, thanks. Well, the price part, it was really reasonable for the experience.

Closer to airport

Negative value for money!! Paid way too much than the property was worth

I liked the overall hospitality.

The air conditioning was not working properly.

Hospitality

Nothing

This is a sleepy small town's small hotel. I stayed here for a night for taking a flight the next morning. All I needed were a clean and comfortable room, a desk, light over the desk, a universal wall socket near the table, internet connectivity, and food. This small hotel had all these for me. They also have an electric kettle, tea and sugger sachets, two packets of snacks, and two 2-liter water bottles - all complimentary, in the guest rooms. I had a filling Nepali breakfast and good milk tea. They also sent me off with complimentary transportation to the airport, about 300 meters from the hotel. Staff very polite and helpful. Both air conditioning and ceiling fan in the guest rooms are very effective.

Booking.com did not mention that the hotel does not accept credit cards, and definitely not MasterCard. I did not have enough cash to pay my bill and at 8 in the morning all shops were closed, so changing money was impossible. Fortunately, the hotel accepted my VISA credit card while cash is their preferred payment mode. Another issue is the payment receipt. They need to professionalize the payment receipts. Currently their handwritten payment receipt or slip is like a grocery shop receipt, on which they put their hotel's rubber stamp. I visited the area on behalf of an international organization and costs incurred by me are reimbursable, but I know that the payment receipt I received from the hotel will not get me any reimbursement; it will simply be rejected. Also, for international guests they need to write dates following the Gregorian calendar and not the Nepali calendar.
